welcome to Arthur L Williams stadium in Lynchburg home to the Liberty flames and fans have been eagerly anticipating this clash and filling up this Stadium quickly we've got a sensational match up for you fans have been filing in and getting ready for this game as we'll see the pandas taking on a team from Conference USA the Liberty Flames glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis David Po and Jesse Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to tee it [Applause] up easy wants to throw on first down catch in the middle it's gr and how about that catch and run so dangerous this guy look as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out they couldn't draw up a better way to start a drive and now they've got it first and 10 from the 41 looking down the middle finds a man on the left and a nice grab there big pick up down to the 35 yd line don't you just love the big boys when the big boys up front do their job and create a great pocket and the quarterback has time now to survey the field and take shots down the field and make huge plays grabbed in the back field it's Jenkins he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out the Flames have it with a first and 10 now from inside the Red Zone he got a hand in there knocks it away incomplete so guys over the last few years there have been seismic changes to college football realign name IM mess but one of the biggest changes the transfer portal yeah and now guys that are unhappy are in a situ and he'll H it in and take it to the end zone touchdown fles this coaching staff was trying to identify Playmakers on offense early this year how about the start of the season this guy has had scored in their first game he scored early in this one defense is up to this point don't have any answers for this guy [Applause] the ready looking for a man it's Salter feeling heat as he lets it go catch and stride inside the 15 and a pickup of better than 30 yards on that completion before the defense brings him down well ree you and I were talking about this before the game how was is this defense going to be able to deal with all the speed they have offensively you saw them just rip off a big play and Jesse now their head spinning just a little bit give a big chunk play and it's right back at him okay after that huge play right back at him on First and 10 from inside the 15 he wants to throw lets it go to the end zone and he's got it touchdown Liberty man this offense has started the season off so oh good one and0 go right now building on it again great job putting points on the board it's still the first half but this unit looks dialed in [Music] [Applause] from the gun the running back has it finds just enough daylight to work his way up to the 19 yd line I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up wear the defense down get first downs and ultim nothing but green ahead he's inside the 40 and they'll do more than move the chains they'll move that thing more than 30 yards down down the field before he's finally stopped love the individual effort by the wide receiver after the catch making people Miss showing you the speed now he set up his offense down in the Red Zone the entire complexion of this possession changed on that one play now they've got it first and 10 inside the 20 feeling some heat hit as he throws into double coverage and he picked it off and they CL in on him after a good return on the interception well the defense the give to the back and how about that interior defense stuffing the run for nothing defense is about firing off hitting the offensive guys and staying in your gaps everybody knowing where they're supposed to to be you could tell the defense everyone was right where they're supposed to Nowhere to Run he almost picked up the first down on that one but he'll be just a little bit short so an example of a tight end doing a little unheralded work to set up a much better third down situation and I like the QB here Reese I like the decision where I understand let's get this football out let's get some positive yards and then get to third down and we can still have a better situation now because we got rid of the ball and took the yards over there that is the final play of the quarter and guys Liberty has the lead here guys let's have a look at the stats as we've played one period now to see if these guys can get back in the game in the second quarter back added to open the quarter with this first down [Music] play the RP it's complete they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out second and two and four receivers spread all over the field from the gun the running back looking for room they bring him down and he's going to lose the yard on that one a lot of times with these rpos you see linebackers so slow they don't want to mess up not on this one watch the defense attack downhill go get the running back get a tackle for him next on the move at the 30 and you can see the offense just feeling itself they've got it down to the 21 and it's just got to be nice to have a running back that can make big time plays with his feet first down second down third down right here his opportunity gets the football makes a huge gain he makes this offense go and it makes it so easy to be a play call he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down this quarterback right now is in a Groove and he's doing a nice job in pre-nap he's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football that's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly that's why he seems like he's in a great Rhythm right now they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one that linebacker saw the express lane right to the ball carry and a great job by the defensive line getting some push making them use their resources on him linebacker comes free bo making the back f for a tackle for L he caught it they get him stopped at the two but it'll be first and goal perfect timing to call that pass PL third and short down here Red Zone everybody in the stadium expecting you to run the football and if you don't get it maybe you kick a field goal maybe you go for Into The End Zone he goes touchdown play and what a push up front by this offensive line everyone playing in unison driving out of their stance working into the second level hats on hats creating a lane for that running back [Music] [Applause] off play action first down trying to get to him and he bats it away of Falls incomplete smart offensive coordinators they're going to throw deep especially those 50/50 balls you hear about all the time my wide receiver is better than your DB well not on this play pressure coming and the heat gets there and they get him down at the 14 yd line not exactly the ideal situation for this offense third and long backed up inside their 20 he's looking downfield to throw he's got an open and they are pushing the ball down the field a big pick up on that one and the tackle is finally made well it didn't take long for this guy to leave his impact in the game guys with that catch this guy's already over a 100 yards in the game and we're not even done the first half fires to the wide out and that pass intercepted trying to take it back he's at the 30 he's at the 10 touchdown pandas a great return for [Applause] the off the play fake on first down to throw he'll let it go down the right side he's got it downfield for a huge game hey the defense knew coming into this one this guy was going to be a factor but they have done nothing to stop them they don't have any answers this guy already has over a 100 yards receiving and we're not even done the half here's the handoff and he finds Some solid space makes a nice game before the defense is able to stop him coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that we've reached the two-minute warning and we'll see if the offense can build on this lead before the break offense gets set for second [Applause] down caught in the back field it's Jenkins brought down at the 25 after a 5yd gain it'll be a first down they saw that Blitz coming and the way to get out of it is find the tight end yeah how quick did he see that too sees the blitz understands this is a match where I got my big tight end the big fell I trust I'm going to find that matchup get him the football for the first down this quarterback obviously did a lot of film prep coming into this one he has been picking this defense apart with that last completion guys he's now got over 300 yds passing they're trying to get to it and the heat will get home and the quarterback goes down at the 17 defense roll up deep in its own end on the last play now a second and long coming going for six can't make the grab as he was looking for his man right at the goal line this has been a disaster for the offense down close to the goal line the first snap that gets sacked the second snap they're lucky it wasn't pick throwing that one into coverage here you go on third down they going to have to throw for it you better be careful QB's got to make a good decision there's a Timeout on field tight game here late in the first half it's wise not to be too greedy and they'll go ahead and send out the field goal unit it's good he hit that one right down the middle and now the leads extended a little farther let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Connor Kevin what do you got fellas I think at least a portion of your audience will have an interest in the one that just finished up overcame a sloppy start and just put the finishing touches on aable set looking to go up top on first down snagged in the middle it's gr they make the stop but not if they do their work up top and pick up a first down he's going to pass going up top pass balls incomplete and there are still 3 seconds left I think when you go through these progressions as a quarterback you want to find the right guy to throw to obviously I just I didn't think he was the right guy I didn't think he was really that open and listen he sailed and he overthrew it I might have surveyed the middle of the field a little bit better that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't knock free for a fumble that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halftime update thanks guys looks like you've had a very enjoyable day so far there today in Lynchberg and we'd be remiss if didn't start this halftime report by acknowledging the sparkling play of this tight end the guy's like an aircraft carrier out there as a blocker and then when he releases and shows off that speed and Route running he's almost unguardable got to believe he won't be able to go anywhere in this second half without someone attached to his hip and with that let's send it back to the fellas at the bill Arthur L Williams Stadium [Music] ready we he'll pull it down and run it's just so nice to have a QB under center now nowadays in football you can trust these guys you put so much on their plate and you tell them go get positive yards when it's there and a lot of these guys are such great athletes they do it with E and the pass rush is effective and they tackle him at the 19 you know for a pass rush it's all about constricting the quarterback and just pushing these offensive linemen moving them backward and building that fence around the QB so there's nowhere for him to go QB was able to make a few guys miss but he inevitably went there now man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him checked out and the Flames will snap it on First and 10 on the move he fires how about that play to get a hand in there and force the incompletion let's see which way they go after the incompletion second and 10 from the Third [Applause] 9 finds his tight end he puts him in business across the 50 into the 46 yd line it'll be first down the Flames are flying down the field leaves it with the back just a solid stop by this sophomore I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical hear a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when they decide to run it crosses the 30 he's got a lan they just gashed the defense on that one and they've got it down to the 23 nice job getting outside right those running backs they those tracks they run outside now they're in the open field and so tough those safeties are flying down try to get an angle but you could tell the speed sets them up makes the big play out to the left that's caught it's Smith they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker and the Flames have moved it inside the 20 on the gun give on the inside and he'll race it to the house touchdown Liberty and the running back was not going to be denied on that play he had a hole and saw it he put his foot in the ground and that was [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] P up 42 spider 42 spider they'll run it from the gun he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple they're trying to run the ball on first down guys but just nothing doing up front their offensive line got blown up on that play there was nowhere for that to go quickly complete ball is loose they recover their own fumble somehow who knows how they got that thing back it's first and 10 for this offense from the 42 from the gun leaves it on the inside with the back and excellent Vision to find Running Room there make a really good pickup before the defense put a stop to it they'll snap it from the 47 on first down down used the play fake now to throw unloads to the wide out got it in the middle it's gray and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out that's the way you get things going a huge play and now attacking from just inside the Red Zone a seven yd pickup it'll be second and three going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the End Zone from the gun the G looking for room touchdown FL and they take it in for 64 points no step back in week three they have been sharp as they extend the lead the offense strikes again to extend its lead here in the second half and they got everything working how great is this you extend your lead now you get your defense back on the field great job taking advantage of the situation and building on that [Applause] lead okay here we go on the run it's blue and he broke one tackle on the way to a solid pick up there man down on the play as the officials take a break to let checked out nyd pickup on first down and now they can take a shot on second and short reacted well to the tip but just couldn't squeeze the football instead of the turnover it'll be third down and now let's see if the offense can bail itself out after the second down misfire and he was hit just as he was releasing the pass and it falls to the ground in complete third and short in college football today you see so much more pass than you used to the offense stays aggressive and I think they stay aggressive because they know they're in field goal range they got that three in their back pocket the Flames get up for the first down looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out and first down from the 13 yd line he's looking to throw it escapes trouble welcome to the frustrating reality of college football like the guy at the quarterback spot he can just do that pull it down get positive yards makes the defense have to account for him every single play dropping back it's [Applause] Salter he's got it man that completion takes them down to the seven yd line and they are ready to strike well these wide receivers work the middle of the field so much of this is field understanding where the holes are in the zone or understanding how to get leverage on a man and these wide receivers are dangerous touchdown Liberty and the beat down has ensued they add on to this lead and it looks as if they're moving to Two and0 Loving what I'm seeing from this offense this week and talking to them they felt like last week's win was a lot closer than what it should have been they didn't play to their full potential but they did that here in this game when they're hitting on all cylinders they are scared up from the gun he leaves it with the back nice solid form tackle from this sophomore get much on first down it's second and [Applause] nine and it'll be incomplete this defense is physical and pass deep well it's a nice job by the quarterback getting the ball out of his hands quickly on that RPO he saw something he liked just not on the same page with his receiver on they couldn't connect on second down now staring at a third and nine [Applause] that's reeled in it's Jenkins really nice pick up on that one as they get it to the 36 it'll be first down well this guy's been a go-to guy for this offense all game long we've seen that and here on a critical third down late in the game with the lead guess who shows up with another big one that guy makes the tackle at the 31 it's a pick up of five on the play Man Down on the play as the officials take a break break to let him be checked out halfway there on first down it's second and five they'll keep it on the ground to keep this clock moving he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out here on third down looking downfield it's Salter gets it out fast they make the stop but this passing game does some damage and they move the sticks with the first down down and the Flames have their offense in high gear it's all about critical downs and distances on defense you want to be great unit defensively you've got to be good on third down and in the red zone for this tense giving up a third down like that that is just a gut punch and here comes the offense on second down he's looking to throw caught over the middle it's Moy they get him stopped at the 5 yd line but it will be first and goal from there we reached the two-minute warning and this offense is that much closer to salting away a victory the Flames trying to cash it in on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the Run he works his way all the way down to the three and the defense is reeling the offense will quickly use a timeout they've got it down to the three now it's second and goal trying to power it in they bring him down and he's going to lose y that one yeah and I tell you what I love the Run game down here I love being able to give it to a back and be able to trust him listen he didn't have any touchdowns on the season so I know he's wanting to punch one in and down here giving me the opportunity let me prove myself so I love the big fella getting the [Applause] football touchdown flames and the punishment has been extended that lead's a little more comfortable now as they goose in on a victory here in week three and how about it everyone getting involved getting the big tight end involved this offense has done an unbelievable job scoring points this defense has had no answers just keep it rolling [Applause] offense now this team has consecutive wins and when you start expecting to find ways to win games and you expect that you'll perform well enough to do so that's really hard to stop it's a mindset Rees this team has it right now you can tell their players trust each other big situation rise in games they're looking at each other in the Huddle on the sideline expecting to make the play that's going to help them win games this team incredibly mentally tough right now David and you start to build that mental toughness when you start to strain together positive weeks and you start to string together positive plays now you know you can do it it's not we talked about it offseason oh we want to do this now you're starting to execute it and put it together on the field so that's going to do it for us for Jesse Palmer David Pollock I'm reys Davis saying so long this has
