don't know I hope they do she lets just kick away okay so we pick up in Hawaii Episode 8 Kick Off Hawaii well Andy I have a bone to pick you have a bone to pick yeah go so pick the bone so if she's gonna call Melbourne Melbourne uhhuh why is Hawaii Hawaii you're right you're right Molly mesnik is flown to Hawaii to chat with Jen I was like oh yeah they must have really bonded on that group day because you know Molly mesnik is sort of like old school she's from a past generation I think a lot of people don't know who she is probably a lot of current Watchers yeah and I think that they must have really been reminded of her magic her she's got great expression I've got to say on that group date in Seattle because for them to fly her all the way to Hawaii and not you know someone more recent which I think is more likely or a golden Bachelor lady I I AG that's another popular choice Molly asks about the guys and when Jen lists them she says Marcus Devin and Jonathan our first clue not that we needed it this was the usual recap of the relationships nothing really to note here except that I think Molly is particularly great at this and meanwhile we see Devon and Jesse playing golf together this is a new thing for the host chat yeah kind of an upgrade yeah it's nice like whacking some balls yes I like whacking balls yeah you were actually talking about that recently with who who was that with was it a bachelor guy yeah I was talking about that with uh Dean oh yes oh was a Love Fest Love Fest coming out very shortly yes chees are there Deon has his overnight date they take a helicopter Devin’s Overnight and in her itm Jen says that she's close to being in love with Devin just a few inches wouldn't that be am actually it's possible it really was just a few inches well that was what my joke was but thank you thank you for explaining for those who didn't get it the Pete Davidson thing coming full circle we'll get there okay there's a cute moment I thought this was super cute where they're in the helicopter together and they're biting each other yeah it's cute kissing her hand and then turns into him biting her knuckle and then she's biting the his shirt on his shoulder this is all cute I thought that showed quite some intimacy personally to me that's like that when it becomes like play like that like silly play yeah but also when you want to eat somebody yes that shows you really really like them agreed they chat he says it's the real world that makes him happy and he wants to bring her into that and he says the extraordinary thing he wants is a normal family life so he wants to get back to work eventually buy a house have kids he's really it's a contrast basically to you know we're on these elaborate dates but I really want to just like have a home yeah and I feel like this is our first hint that Devon is really struggling in this environment mhm you know everyone starts to unravel at some point I think some people handle it better than others but I think part of Devon's unraveling throughout these two episodes is of course you know it's like he wants to make sure Jen reciprocates things but I think it's also like I'm having a really hard time here so if you're not in with me like I'm out like I it's not just like I don't need to be on TV yeah yeah yeah I'm stying to get that feeling too yeah and I mean I can only relate slightly cuz I never went all the way to hometowns but from I remember that was why I left I mean it was a big reason why I left you just get so sick of it like it's hard to understand when you're on your sofa yeah you're just like let's leave we're done I'm done with this it's you know what it's like it's like being on a first date forever like first date you you you got your move moves right and you know even if it goes well there comes a point in the night where you're like I I don't want to overstay my welcome like I'm done well like it's enough it's like 2: in the morning like it could go downhill from here and then you're forced to stay on that first date for like another like 170 hours God like eventually you're just going like I can't do this anymore I got to go to real life we got to go to the second date too much of anything I mean too much of a fun like can you imagine you're on a really fun ride and then it's like you're just on that ride for way longer than you'd like nothing is good after a while even like an orgasm imagine if your orgasm lasted like for for a week you go insane you have to you have to go to mental hospital or you know the chocolate cake from Matilda you know no one Everyone likes chocolate cake but no one wants that much chocolate cake no every everything is bad you said orgasm and I said chocolate cake God so bass he says she makes him feel so secure in his skin in a way he's never felt before and she says sometimes she struggles to accept a good thing she's afraid it's not real she's trying and this daytime portion ends on a sort of ominous note a lot of ominous music throughout with these two it sort of suggests she might not get there and in the evening now he says this has been a long journey so more of that more of that he's having a hard time seeing his family made him Miss real life even more uh she's worth sticking it out for though he asks her what she means about not recognizing a good thing and she says she's only just learning about this she feels like it's too good to be true it almost makes her want to run away he says he doesn't want her to feel ashamed of her reservations I mean he always says the right thing he really sees her I feel like he really reads between the lines with her and he says he doesn't just love people he doesn't throw that word around and I I like appreciate him saying that because I can understand how he'd be like no you don't get it like I don't do this normally I feel like we both did when we started da like when when you would tell me you love me you're like no but I don't really feel this way about people I'm like oh okay you're like no but really yeah no because you want to make them make it clear that this is special you don't know how to do it because it's like you're trying with just being yourself but you want to make it no no this is actually special and sometimes you just have to say it yes I think we both did that with each other actually you know what Devon is Devon is the real experience you want with a partner Deon is giving everything like he's there for her she knows she's with a person yeah like she's not alone when you're with Devon you're like I feel like I'm with someone I'm connected to the universe like with these other guys and I'm going to say these other guys I'm going to say everybody everybody it's all just like oh I want this and I want that and I want this and you're so beautiful tonight and oh this is great look at all this amazing scenery it's all like them and her uhhuh and with Devon it's like a unit and you feel it and that's why Devon is winning there's no question Marcus is not there with her you're spoiling this recap I'm spoiling it was I'm I'm tired of this is this is such nonsense we all know who's winning Marcus I how can he not win how is Marcus winning this Marcus is emotionally completely absent from this relationship okay we're going to get there we're going to get there but I totally agree with what you're saying about how Devin is there with her like they're in line like you can see that they're connecting on wavelengths that we cannot see or hear but you we know it because we have experienced it I've experienced it in relationships you know where you're like oh we get each other the wavelength is there that is such a huge swath of information to get out of the way it's everything there's only so much like support and kindness and and general interest you can have in someone before that falls flag like you want to feel like you're like connected with you're like one person you want to feel like when you look at something you're looking at it with four eyes yes yeah four that would be great Four Eyes well we have four two people four I I know I'm just thinking to have four eyes instead of two though that'd be awesome well where would your other two eyes be in the back of my head oh come on are you kidding that'd be great so you can see the side too perfectly would you see the side with two eyes the one in the front and the one in the back I'm just thinking that when I do my hair I have this this hand mirror that I it like straps to my hand so that if I'm doing like an updo or something I can see it and whenever I see it I'm like damn that would be good but would you be would you be able to activate your back eyes like would you be able to just put your back eyes in dormy for like a few hours at a time or would you have to have them there all the time making me realize that maybe it would be stressful like in a way maybe it's a relief to not be able to see everything all the time it's a lot of information you got to take in all the time yeah yeah no okay I take this back I take it back I I'll rely on your two eyes but let's be honest two eyes is really like it totals to like one half eye you thanks thank you Andy doesn't see that well it's my it's yeah I'm not not strong Department strength you know where I'd have my other two eyes I'd have them right at the tips of my toes oh yeah wait why because I want to see I want to see the ground really well I trip on things a lot oh I feel like it would be better to have them on your knees that's too close to the ground yeah but I don't care about them if they get injured it's over I don't care they don't mean that much to me this one got weird Jen asks if Devon is actually ready he says he actually is I have to say I do believe him and she says she can't tell him how much he means to her but in general she is beaming around him we have to observe that the smile she has around Devon that's a an ear to ear smile that's a smile you can't fake she gives him the fantasy sweet card of course they're both game there's a moment where she says the key is for a magical night and he leans in for This Kiss they've got chemistry yeah like legit chemistry these two as they make out in the fantasy suite we hear Devon and his itm say I'm going to push with everything I've got too good you know that's one the we know the producers have a sense of humor the next morning now we hear Jen say people say he looks like Pete Davidson but after last night I say he's better than Pete Davidson so that's the voiceover part and then it cuts to her grinning in her itm saying in every way okay so I mean there's only one explanation for this we know that Jen always loves the sexual inuendo yes so we know this is a penis joke yes and if that's the case we know and I'm sure Jen knows that Pete Davidson is is famous for that famous for that right is he actually famous for it cuz I I have heard that because I know someone who knows someone who has slept with Pete Davidson okay but I also just know people who know stuff about just pop culture and everyone seems to know that that's a thing I don't need to know someone who actually saw it okay like it's a thing yeah it's a thing people are like yeah that's a thing about him oh wow and so if she said that it's a pretty bold statement like basically the guy has like an elephant dong is what she's saying I mean I don't know a literal like a literal elephant how else are we supposed to take this I don't know I just didn't realize it was like common knowledge like that yeah well I think it is anyway my point is is that either it's that she's saying he's better than the famously good and bed person or he's bigger than the famously bigger person either way it's an incredibly bold statement yes and I suppose a compliment because because ordinarily that statement would be if the guy she's talking about that he looked like was known for a very small or a very weak skill so you know we agreed their chemistry suggests he gave her a good time this once again ends with a somber tone though like he is starting to have a really hard time not hearing the LW back but the more they do this the more I think he's winning personally the more they like made him spiral throughout all this it's like it needed to go you know we always talk about how it has to get worse before it gets better yeah they have to make an arc so now it's Jonathon’s Overnight Jonathan's overnight I'm going to sweep through this I'm sorry like have we not been calling this for a long time not to not to say I told you so no these two are friends yeah they're friends they're friends who make out once in a while and even the making out is not it's just like you know there's a formality to them she pulls up in a jeep to pick him up and to drive around town and I swear as she greets him she's even avoiding holding his gaze she's like she's like so today we're going to not a lot of ey she's looking she's always sort of darting her eyes tour guiding him yeah which I'm going to be honest that's something I would do if I had to fake being really into someone and I knew deep down that I wasn't interested that's what you would do it's like lying what do they do where do you look when you're lying is it up to the left or up to the right I think up one of them okay probably important to know which which side in her voice over we hear Jen say I definitely hope that Jonathan and I are going to continue falling for each other lots of scenes of them being kind of cutesy eating donuts and other desserts and they chat next to a waterfall but not much is said I I wrote yeah I didn't even bother taking notes this sort of culminates with the making out in the water and in the evening now the conversation feels I wrote very formal yeah like he says how was your day and she says I had a great day with you no I'm sorry this is not yeah I got to be honest I completely checked out for this one oh okay we're GNA talk about Andy having a hard time staying awake during this date and the next date do we think that that is representative of the content of the dates well you know whose date I did not fall asleep during yeah well Devon was first that's true I had the most energy at that point no but I was honestly what happened was is after Devon's a I started just thinking about Hawaii or havai as Jen should have said but um I was thinking about this place yeah it's beautiful and it's it's so amazing it's so beautiful it's such an iconic place in in the world like people Hawaii is like a paradise brand it's amazing it's when people think of like oh going away on a nice vacation you think of Hawaii yes you know Hawaii is only 400,000 years old that Island there on is 400,000 years old it wasn't there 400,000 years ago just not there it was just ocean just swim right across nothing there's a little mountain below you but you didn't know it was going to keep coing up oh my God yeah that's incredible it's incredible 400,000 years that thing and I always think how amazing it is that now there's this show on this island ex this no I always think I don't think this particular thing but I always think about the history of a place and how this show is now yeah on that place yeah if and if only the island could talk if only the island could talk if if that Island it was like you know it struggled for millions and millions of years probably 50 60 million years to go from the bottom of the ocean all the way up with little volcanic eruptions to get to Hawaii to finally be able to breathe that sweet air and in a fraction of its lifetime later The Bachelor is being filmed on it it's interesting do you think that if it could talk it would be like yeah thinking rights the question that's the question is Hawaii psyched that the batler red is being filmed on it or would it rather that not be the case I think that if you were a beautiful island you'd be You' want to be acknowledged for being such a beautiful island so you think it's it's happy it's like look at me it's talking to its other Island friends like look I got The Bachelorette what do you got yeah I think that I think there's an element of that it's sort of like a composer who's long dead I think Mozart would be amused to see you know how famous he's become and like all the variations on his music and how the Queen of the Night Arya has played during a Volvo commercial I agree I think he'd be amused so bottom line is eylands egotistical yes Jen shares having grown up in a predominantly white environment now how she struggled to know how to fit in I got to say I absolutely love when she shared details like this she shares about her backg sh shares everything so eloquently oh my God she I'm going to say it I think it's possible she is the most eloquent okay I hate it when people do that when they're like oh the the most anything but she is certainly one of the most eloquent leads we have ever had she's the the most eloquent I've seen in my my tenure she always knows where her sentence is going and there's no like likes likes or uh I say like more than Jen says like she's so articulate they go to the fantasy suite the next morning now they're talking about how natural it was and Jen says it's always natural with us like even this I know yeah it is always natural with them but it it even to talk about how natural it is between you suggests you are not that close yeah AG I I agree you shouldn't be talking about how natural it is the next day you should just be talking about stuff yes I don't know I'm trying to think did we ever talk about oh it's so natural between us maybe were they are cherry-picking these moments to sell us Jonathan and Jen together and so them talking about how natural but it's funny them picking that makes me think that they are not natural yeah do you know what I mean so you think they did it I don't actually know I'm not sure either I'm leaning no yeah I didn't get post qule from this morning after I'm I I think there was some messing around but very little I think Jen has been phoning this whole date I felt she was sort of phoning it in and I think she's attracted to Jonathan I think she just there's two guys that she's really interested in and he's not one of them period and she says I can't believe I'm in bed with Mommy man from night one I thought that was hilarious but he didn't laugh as hard deserved a bigger laugh yeah in general I feel like that happens all the time Jen drops these really really funny bombs with him all the time and he's like yeah yeah yeah she's not getting what she deserves no okay so meanwhile we see starting to spiral saying he doesn't want to feel like an option he's been the safe bed in past relationships and now we move on to Marcus so Charlene let's talk about an unpleasant topic Marcus yeah it's very unpleasant there are many things about our changing climate that are unpleasant but the fact that mosquito season now lasts longer is just like that's adding insult to injury that's the stick that's a proverbial stick Twisted yeah like it's bad enough anyway pesle is is the thing that is going to get us through climate change okay I wish I desperately wish but I will say pesle is hands down the best bug spray I've ever used which hear or see from Jen that would help you and Marcus says I want to see I got I'm sorry I'm going to preface this by saying I didn't love this answer even though I know what he meant I still didn't love this answer he says I want to see what it is that Jen sees in me and peel back the reasons of why she's chosen me throughout this journey m yeah this is a rare slip well I know what he means I think Marcus meant this in a self-deprecating like I don't know why she cares about me I don't know why she's chosen me but it's still about him it kind of reminds me of paradise Who is it Aaron yeah Aaron what's his last name are you kidding I don't know how am I supposed to know that but when he was chosen on to go on a date I think it was Chelsea vaugh who invited him on a date and he was like so what was it about me that made you want to choose me for this date it's my favorite line the last several seasons Priceless this even though I know he meant this in a self-deprecating way what bothers me about this is he's feeding off what Jen is giving him and we see that later on too when you know it suggested he might leave and then she says oh I love you and he's like oh okay I'll try harder it doesn't feel like he is giving her a like barely a fraction of what she's giving him yeah but that's that's even this it's like what could she say or do to make you want to make you feel better about this relationship it's like oh to hear why she's chosen me well but that's that's exactly right it's like he's given he hasn't given her an onion no and he's asking her to peel the layers of an onion but there's no onion yeah or there's no peeler or or or the onions in a case that can't be opened and you have a peeler and you just have to look at the onion you can't peel it I guess's PE an onion with that's a good point there's no such thing as an onion peeler but I think that you've got a point in that he I don't feel like he's been pulling back Jen's onion layers no the way Devon has for example there's been no peeling of onions no she's been trying she's been trying but he won't give her the onion I mean he doesn't have I don't know what's in that onion to be honest with you it might be a bad onion well sometimes you get into an onion most of the time onions last a very long time but once in a while you get in there and you're like Dam oh there's a brown spot okay the brown spots yeah onions honestly onions very versatile onions very versatile I did not appreciate an onion fully when I was a child I suppose most children do not I I I can tell you right now that as every year I get older I appreciate onions more I completely age and I don't like raw onions I will not have raw onions in any of my food it's true whenever we order a salad or something and it comes with onion on it if it's raw we ask for no onions if it's pickled it's acceptable and if it's cooked it's acceptable yeah but but I'm cooked onion or pickled yeah pickled for me it's caramelized it's all caramelized any the onion is so versatile there's so many things there's so many dishes that would be nothing without an onion like a good tomato sauce like a really good Hardy Italian tomato sauce without onions what is that much of tomatoes mushed yes and garlic we appreciate onions and so that's why it bothers us so much that Marcus is not giving her his full onion yeah she's got no onion to peel he's not making it easy for her to peel and I she keeps trying to peel trying to see more trying to support him and even now and it's like what do you need to see from her it's like oh I I need to her to peel more of my layers that's how it felt anyway it's BS it bothered me it bothered me it didn't feel like he is there for her it's I felt like he's there for her to make him feel good about himself he's like I've given nothing I gave her Comfort during a Skydive yes you know I'm saying that I'm there for her I'm telling her all my comfort during a sky D yeah that's pretty much it I mean like look he gave her he he told her all about his issues and I respect that he was very vulnerable about his Marcus I mean Marcus has been through so much so I don't mean to uh downplay why he is the way he is I think it's clear to everyone why he is the way he is I mean he has abandonment issues he certainly has PTSD like there's so much to unpack there and so I hope we don't come off sounding like coldhearted it's more that in a relationship a romantic relationship you need someone to meet you where you are and I feel feel like she keeps like lifting him up and he is just like can you lift me more like how much more can you lift me that's how it feels he's just not there for her no so now Marcus has his overnight heading into this we hear Jen say that she's in love with him they have excellent kissing chemistry I have to say I mean they they have a good make out he's got a good face caress I always talk about the face caress she says she came to Hawaii when she was 3 years old this was so crazy her dad won a trip on an Internet Ad that's nuts that actually happens also it made me feel really old the trip was one on an internet ad and she was three yeah ouch my focusing on the wrong part of the story all I'm saying is that when I was three no one was winning a trip to Hawaii on an Internet Ad they wait for the evening now and go swimming with manta rays that light up at night that was pretty cool oh so cool I've got to say the fact that she chose Marcus for this date is very powerful oh you don't agree I I don't know where you're going with this well I just mean that like the once in a-lifetime date activity I'm reminded of Ben Hagen's season he chose Lauren then Bushnell to uh see all the little baby turtles be born in the middle of the night so you're saying she put a lot of weight on this date she wanted to you don't give the Man Ray at night date to the guy that you're about to send home oh oh the right the guy you're about to send home yeah right so I I think though you could argue you give the manta ray swimming at night date to the guy you are choosing yeah but she said previously that she really likes [Laughter] helicopters did she she did she didn't say anything about manta rays although manays are pretty cool the thing my be for the manay not that I really that you can have a be for a living thing but it seems like they're all mouth where's the rest of them it's just one giant mouth where incredible that's so cool no it is incredible where's the other stuff like the whole mass of their body down the line is a mouth so does stuff go in the mouth that get sucked up into the body no no I I mean I don't know it seems like that there seems like there's nothing else it's like a just like giant vacuum cleaner I don't see room for like enough organ to make that thing operate properly but apparently they figured it out creatures incredible amaz is it amazing that that thing exists how did that out of nothing once again the center of a sun at all came from there this actually reminds me of a funny story when we were in Hawaii and we went snorkeling and we were in a group of the you know there was like a boat Excursion or whatever and we saw a bunch of fish the occasional Turtle some Stingrays and you saw an eagle ray like the spotted Ray it was very cool and you came to the surface and you were like baby baby did you see the eagle see there you go and the woman you were screaming at wasn't me she was really nice she was a really good sport she's like yes yes I did see the eagle ray and I was very embarrassed so where were we going with that oh I think that it's possible you know just to play Devil's Advocate because I know that you think Devon is winning for sure I don't think she would give this date to some I I think it's powerful that she gave this date to Marcus yeah no I agree I mean I remember my first uh my first Ray diving experience oh was a snorkling experience yeah yes it was actually my most touching experience with wildlife in my whole life oh yeah what happened so I was it was this place in the Cayman Islands it's basically it's like manta ray c sorry it's Stingray City it's called Stingray City all right there's so many Stingray and they all know the food's coming so they just hang out there okay it's like been trained for like decades okay and you go and you just snorkel and it's like it's like 5 feet of water so you're just literally swarmed by stingrays uh and they come up to you you have these food and you just give it to them you just put in their mouth you got to watch out though their mouths are like they're real strong suckers get your whole fist in there anyway so I was sitting at the bottom with one and it came up to me and it sort of stayed with me after I had no food left it just stayed there and I just put my arms around it and lay on the bottom of the ocean hugging it and I was just hugging it and it just stayed with me I I had scuba I had scuba gear by the way I know this sounds crazy no this is so sweet yeah so it liked you it was really nice it was really soft it was really like silky like sort of a little slimy but nice did it seem to just like you or did H out me I couldn't believe how long it was staying there it didn't leave everything every other Stinger was swimming around they got the food and they left and this it was just sitting there and I put my arms around I was stroking it and just laying on the bottom of the ocean with it oh my God that is so cute at the bottom of the ocean I mean the bottom of a little tiny pool pool but it was the ocean it was it was a sand bar it was that is really sweeten you have never heard that story before it was really nice okay so now it's the evening he says he's nervous The Last Rose ceremony hit him really hard realizing that it's not a given he's going to have another week and he tells her that he only wants to propose once he wants to be a good husband and father and he says there's so much potential between them so much has aligned with them that he's never experienced she's driven ambitious he's never met anyone like her and we were like is he breaking up with her right now that's how it sounded it really sounded like that it sounded like a a [ __ ] sandwich like she was telling her all the great things about her oh totally uh and in his itm now he says he's from a broken family and doesn't want to be in something he isn't sure about and then he straight up tells Jen now that he's not sure so they're certainly framing it that way she deserves someone who is sure about her he's not sure if it's the speed of the process or what but it's hard for him to get to a point where he feels comfortable saying he's in love he apologizes and she tells him not to apologize I honestly at this point I thought that he had just ended did it yeah it's weird maybe this was editing or something but the way this was edited the way he uh delivered all this and her expression afterwards I I got to say the fact that she isn't just like okay I understand makes me think that again I I do think Marcus has a real shot here more than you're I think giving him personally not because I think that he's better for her but because I think Jen has a real soft spot for him you know how many people having been told what they've just been told would respond with I love you unless they're trying to keep them unless we're trying to get them to stay I mean I agree the I love you part throws me a little bit she says there are many layers to being in love she says she'd be lying if she didn't tell him that she is in love with him she has to say this to get it off her chest she'd be doing herself a disservice if she did not tell him how he felt and then this turns the whole ship around he this brings him to tears he says he's trying he'll keep trying he says she makes him feel amazing it means the world to him that she said that like he's still receiving this is him receiving it means the world to him that she said that she makes him feel amazing what's he doing for her yeah I miss that's the piece I'm missing here and what concerns me is Jen is so giving it's very obvious that she's very giving I said early in the season that I feel Jen is extremely in touch with her feminine and she is a very nurturing partner you can tell I think she is will be an amazing partner for someone but I think that she's at risk of being taken advantage of of being kind of sucked dry and not receiving much well I I hate to say this and break it down psychologically but she did have an absent father a father who was not there for her who was had no emotional give for her and even though she was able to see it and saying very clearly in the end yeah I think this is a little more subtle and Marcus is a little more unavailable in a nuanced way and I think she's falling for it a little bit and I think she's attracted to that and I think that's the last vestage of her issue if she can just peel this off with Marcus and go for Devon I think she's cured yeah cured cured yeah I feel like that was definitely the theme throughout this you know throughout this week in Hawaii was her recognizing a good thing appreciating a good thing while she has it and not sabotaging it by thinking it's too good to be true and it's just so interesting how she's chasing after Marcus and Devon is chasing after her right I I I'm telling you that's it this is it this this is the Arc of Jen if she can just reject Marcus and take Deon yeah but also say she fixed she's fixed well you know there's also the argument that they're not just the same guy in different packages you know like obviously she's going to love one more than the other and there's nothing that can be I think in a ways she loves them both equally the difference is is is Devon is giving her so much more yes well he certainly is he says he's not there yet but he wouldn't still be sitting there if he didn't think it was possible I mean we've been hearing that for a while now from Marcus that's been kind of Marcus's thing it's like well I'm still here because I see the potential I see the potential and in his itm he says he didn't know he needed to hear the I love you until he heard it she gives him the fantasy sweet card and he says spending the night would be hugely beneficial and you loved that and now it's the next morning he says the night helped him with the doubts he was having but Andy you could not keep your eyes open no I tried so hard yeah I way it happens to you like if I know I have to stay awake there are times where I really want to sleep and I just stay awake cuz I'm like well it's not bedtime yet I don't know why do that to myself I should just let myself have naps more often yeah just go for it great meanwhile you you're like well you know if I'm standing if I'm if I like have a job to do on my feet uh like I'll stay awake I don't have like full on narcolepsy but if I'm on a couch watching this and I feel that sleep coming on it's happening there's nothing going to stop it you basically are narcoleptic when you're on a sofa yes you don't even have to be that comfortable I'm I am a sofa narcoleptic this is true so what was it about this date then cuz personally I found this conversation I don't want to say riveting but I was really on the edge of my seat because I thought he was breaking up with her and then suddenly he wasn't and she poured her heart out to him and he received it because he does that but I don't know I was really like interested what happened with you what what lost your interest I just feel that there's nothing here I feel it's all emotions and no substance motions going through the Jesse again he says he wants to ask Jen if she loves him as much as he loves her he didn't want to put that pressure on her and scare her but he says he feels like he's giving and giving and she's growing from that while he's withering away I feel like the same could be said about Jen and Marcus yeah like he is feeding off what she's giving him he breaks down crying here I wrote Devon looks like he's really starting to crumble and his producer is doing a very very good job cuz I do think that Devon started out being like Oh I wonder if she loves me as much as I love her and then by the end of this episode he was like I can't can't handle this anymore well he was he was too strong they needed to crack him a little bit it was looking too good yes so this culminates with him heading to Jen's room it suggested he's going to leave but we both were like come on come onve seen this movie a hundred times okay so now the next episode so Tuesday night's episode starts um the cold open Episode 9 Kick Off is Grant calling his mom to tell her that he's the bachelor I call BS on this yeah I call full BS on this she was not excited enough she was it was staged excitement I think she I just think that she already knew that he was in the running seriously she she didn't have the right kind of excitement the excitement would have been like what what she was like oh that's great that's with that said a lot of guys come in to do damage control or women mhm and they screw it up yes or they make it worse yes he clearly I think Sam has some anger issues I didn't I don't think we fully saw them on the show but I I think he has the capability of becoming very enraged and the fact that he was being clowned on by so many people during this mental all and not ever cracking never losing his temper never you like his heart rate true honestly I got to give him credit me too he he shown in this Mel all and and showning or shining for him it's not a very bright light but he was there relatively speaking this was a good Sam yeah I agree and I actually think he was telling the honest to God truth when he said he tried to put stuff into words that he just couldn't and that's the part where I felt bad I felt bad too like this guy clearly look for whatever reason he can't string together sentences as well as other people and I'm not no look no offense this is just life and to put him in this place makes him automatically look bad because first of all when you can't articulate what you want to say you turn more animalistic it's it's a natural default was you're like I can't communicate in words so I'm going to communicate in some other thing totally and and he was kind of forced into that or with lips with with smooth fists or whatever but the point is is that he was put in a place that he shouldn't be yeah and I don't know what the real Sam is I'm thinking that the real Sam is a little in the middle maybe leaning towards the knock rate Sam from what we saw I don't know right in the middle between I think he's extremely self-involved he's very self involved he's definitely got major flaws but I think he may be a little better than we saw on the show and I think what you're seeing here is the fact that he's has the ability to number one know his faults know his weaknesses and be restrained in a situation where a lot of people including myself would have gotten pretty pissed off I agree totally that many people coming after you yeah he really didn't defend him he didn't like retaliate he never defended himself he just kind of you know I'm either love in all all in or out you know he sort of came with some catchphrases but none of it was like really full-throated he does defend against having called Jen's energy dull all right saying that actually when she came into that final conversation she had a look in her eyes and he always you know relied on her eyes blah blah blah I'll give him that I'll give him that because again poor choice of words but maybe the the intent was there we know that that is not his strength Jeremy now makes a dig about him having thought it would be Daisy or Maria and Sam says that none of them knew beforehand and if anyone says they didn't think it might be Daisy or Maria they're lying I mean I I I got to give him this is a little bit of a mic drop moment like I got to give it to him but then he goes too far he went too far this is what Sam does he says that actually he had told his family that he didn't see it working out with Daisy or Maria and then of course it's like two steps ahead like why didn't you think two steps ahead the guys are like then why did you go right right yeah he stepped in it he goes too far he stepped in it he he almost he he should have said that thing got up from the couch and left but he went to but it's okay he just is not good with the words he's not he says he knows his delivery needs work he's learning from his mistakes and look I am not absolving him of anything focused on me and would it turn would it have turned out differently I mean I think she basically she like you might have lasted another week or two but what I find so funny is Thomas ends response he agrees and says that he should have dealt with Devon later everything about that is so funny to me because it shows such a missing of the point the missing of the point the point he shouldn't have dealt with Deon at all exactly ex no dealing with also it shows that he he thinks that he dealt with Devon he didn't deal with deal he dealt nothing he did the opposite of dealt whatever the opposite of delt is he did it yes yes he thinks the point was oh I shouldn't have let Jen sit there alone that was only part of the point no Thomas n what a Miss Sam M now she's okay wow she comes after Sam M oo hard she says they didn't ever really talk he didn't know her at all she says she's going to speak to him in words he understands yeah and she says they're on different intellectual levels she body slams him here mainly for having made everything about himself and then afterwards having his friends and family go out and defend him blaming producers and his edit she says that he's exactly who she knew him to be on the season and she feels sorry for whomever he ends up with and I got to say sam takes this extremely well pretty much just says he wishes he'd done things differently and he thanks her for the experience you know what the thing is okay this is what I'm going to say Jen came in with this speech and it was kind of a speech I think she had some P up anger ready to she came in thinking that Sam's performance at MTA was going to be the same Vibe yeah he was going to come in guns blazing and she was going to be like the crowd was going to be roaring for her unfortunately she got the nice sort of apologetic even keed Sam and this wasn't a great look and I'm not going to fully blame her because what she said is kind of true there was some digs in there that were unnecessary everything she said was true it's just whether or not it's necessary to say it say you're not on the same intellect that that was pushing it for me that was like really hard also I feel sorry for anyone who ends up with you it's like that was really it shows like you know he by the time he ends up with someone he could be he could have grown a lot basically I just felt like it was a little low it was a little low cuz she's so good at this that's the thing it's like Jen was able to like like you said body slam him over and over and over again and the first one was fine the first body slam was fine she didn't have to repeat the slamming well the the thing is is that it shows to me that Jen this is what well it shows two things one is there probably was fire where there was smoke with Sam like he probably did really get under her skin in a way that was really terrible like she clearly does not lose her cool and she she kind of lost here she was like this this was a gen I had not seen a vindictive genen and I can only imagine that the reason this was brought out on her and remember she's in front of a big audience millions of people watching this it's not like she's just talking to her girlfriends like she knows the stakes here high he must have been very bad and she must have really been hurt by him and really felt that she needed to warn other people about him and I'm not saying again I'm not saying she's 100% right or Sam's a terrible person but all I'm saying is this came from a real place she was not Grand standing here this came from a real place she was saying things that she really felt and she felt like she needed to get a little bit of Revenge here I think she felt like she was had by him and I respect that I just think based on how Sam came into this with his guns completely holstered yeah it wasn't a great look and I felt bad for it was the only slight and I got to say such a slight miss it reminded me a little bit of Katie thirston season when she came in into mentel all and was still shoting on Thomas yeah and by then you're like but he never really did that like and in that Cas that was so different because Thomas literally never did anything wrong I'll tell you something you know what I never forgot that and I never will yeah it just it sort of like showed a slight missing of like not quite reading the situation like the present moment situ situation it felt like it was really still based in his performance on the season and I think that people can learn a lot from watching themselves on TV even if the thing that they learn is that they're really really even worse with their words than they thought you know that still just shows some reflection it's the only thing she's done all season where I'm like oh that it was just a too harsh it was a little 10% too harsh I think when you are the lead especially after the fact I think that you need to almost act presidential yes like you need to occupy the office you have to be like I am not vindictive when they go low you go high yeah you have to just be like I understand he's got his issues I did not appreciate some of the things I think there's room for improvement you know that whole speech you got to do that otherwise you just look small and you need to Fe you need to be big you're the president you are for lag of a better word you're the executive of this show yeah not say I'm going to say this for you in words that you're you can understand I got to be honest if I wanted to get back at Sam if I really hated Sam to the point where I wanted him to burn this was as good as it got like she delivered exactly the red meat you wanted but I just wasn't quite hungering for that meal yeah and I will give him credit like he didn't retaliate he just he thanked her yeah I mean he was like did he get coached like did someone say to him Sam does it really matter it doesn't matter he did it he executed whatever good for him yeah all right we'll never see him again EX on perfect match but we won't see him no someone else will see him on perfect match no wrong Network maybe he'll be on Paradise I can picture him coming he can't be on perfect match yeah yeah you're right Netflix you're right maybe Paradise he really is perfect match material though he won't do Paradise he knows better yeah all in all I everything we have to reiterate everything she said was true oh and honestly as I said before if I wanted Sam to suffer this was chef's kiss material she did not miss one beat it was Perfection and part of me likes it there's like I'm like torn was part of me was like yes and part of me was like oo and I you know somewhere in the middle I just felt it like you said it P that inflection point where he started to become a sympathetic character she just yeah exactly just crested above sympathetic barely then it came below again totally okay so now Jesse brings up how Jen is the first American Asian Bachelorette and this segment really spoke to me she talks about how growing up Asian characters were always in supporting roles she brings up how Vietnamese culture is rooted in patriarchy and how her dad had all the say and her mother didn't have a voice and she doesn't want that for herself and she says the response has been overwhelmingly positive and she's felt the Vietnamese Community come alive it's been a healing experience for her I got to say I mean even her delivery of this it was so good and not a single like in the house yeah and also just the meaning behind what she was saying here you felt like she really came to be proud of who she is and and why she is the way she is and I I got to say when she was first announced his Bachelorette and it was like it's shot o' clock I'm looking for a guy with a really big I felt like what I was missing actually was the references to her culture it's sort of like okay well we have our first Asian-American Bachelorette and it's like and it's not I'm not saying that the Asian American Bachelor I can't say it's shot a clock I just felt like she could be anyone like I just was sort of looking for the flavor that is her but it's also the growth we saw her grow on this show by the end of the show she has more confidence she has the confidence to be like I'm just going to talk about how meaningful this is I don't have to talk about shot a clock anymore I'm done with that totally have to date guys like Sam anymore honestly I think the B might have been the best thing that ever happened to Jen I completely agree I feel like we watched her come into her own she became so strong throughout this season it's like some people are broken and some people are made like she she took it totally she learned at every turn it was like it was like a computer like an AI she was like so bright yeah I mean she is ridiculously smart you can see it and even like if you think about the shot a clock thing I keep coming back shot clock I just something about shot a clock I'm like okay like what what does that have to do with anything you know okay woo shots she was also sort of saying the thing she thought she was supposed to say and it was just not really the real gen we got the real the real gen and is amazing I'm honestly my favorite can I say wait I'm trying to think if I'm offending anybody The Bachelor rest we've done I'm fine yeah my favorite Bachelorette so far I got to say I cannot think of anyone there's been others like who I've really really enjoyed but I will say like I can't think of anyone who I've liked more in this role you know I got a handed casting oh totally they're doing they really do uh now Jen says that her mother probably would have preferred it if she hadn't become Bachelorette and it's been difficult to for her mother to watch because you know there's a lot of intimate moments shown on screen and she says they've had hard conversations but she's happy she was able to be her authentic self and show that you can embody a blend of both cultures I mean I mean is good stuff I just loved her she's great I'm sad I'm sad now that she's not Bachelorette any well soon to be I want to be friends with Jen yeah she's amazing you listening to me Jen you want to be friends with this guy HH friends okay now we see charity and dotton yay Friends of the Pod uh not much to speak of here except that they're getting another trip to Greece yeah what was about I know yeah he was really SI they felt bad he got the flu now getting another trip to Greece I mean good for them yeah making out like Bandits yeah okay now the bloopers these were great I always theyve up the blooper game Hakeem says it's like a tug of war that I'm playing with myself and Jen certainly has an affinity for nicknames for the guys like d dog for Devin she calls Jonathan when she's trying to find him during Marco Polo my little medium that's great that's great and she calls Jeremy jerbear that was funny the itm where someone vomits nearby was that an actual person vomiting they seem I think so why so it wasn't someone making a joke like he said something then it's not funny no I think it was an actual person it was such perfect timing it was incredible and Jonathan farting join the Roose this was well edited too the music the music stop I assume that this is an ongoing thing where Jonathan far at Rose ceremonies yeah yeah that's a good I mean honestly like allit more I want to see all of them yeah maybe some of them were kind of silent and gross but who knows anyway it was funny good for him in general I wish they would include more funny moments in the actual show cuz you know this is just the tip of the ice cream could you how great would that be if you got like a like a voice over where it's like yeah and you know tonight is the night I really don't know if you know Jen and I's relationship has made it as far as it needs to go are you telling me you wouldn't like every single person more it would be amazing but you know it's a big risk it's a family show I don't know if some people would take that come on it's a fart farts are funny farts are always funny I've always said the day you stop finding farts funny is the day you should call quits and now Hakeem and spiders we got a recap of the spider scene in Australia and now they bring out this is so cruel they bring out the world's largest spider well I mean it's tarantula it's a very friendly spider wait why is it said world's lar you it is the world's largest B it's actually I'm not sure the orb there's an orb weaver that might be in length bigger but that that's getting technical the this was a li I thought that they sourced the world's largest by weight the largest spider in the world that was a tarantula yeah but you're saying like it's any tarantula I thought that they sourced the largest tarantula it's probably yeah it's the largest tarantula yeah there are smaller tarantulas I'm just saying that the tarantulas are sweet people have tarantulas as pets this was so mean he had no choice but to do it it was really mean was like why am I doing this before it was for you like I have no reason to do this now and they just they peer pressured him yeah poor poor and become the butt of a joke but in the best way yes and he'll be in Paradise as well yeah that's the jokes on everybody else yeah okay so Andy that Andy’s A-Game brings us to your aame we're all done Jen I agree hands down yeah even though she came at Sam an ounce harder than we yeah but it's the whole pict it's not even that he didn't deserve it it's more that did deserve it he didn't deserve it in that setting yeah yeah yeah exactly so is what it is but other than that she Flawless Jen is flawless flawless for the whole aame for the season too and that she beats out Devon who had strong game totally agreed okay so now fashion I'm going to mainly focus on evening Fashion wear because there were a lot of casual looks and this is a long recap so in the evening of Devin overnight she's wearing a white asymmetric one strap dress with a cutout her hair is half up half down as usual dangly diamondy earrings and a pearl hair claw no I like I mean this dress you know a lot of these I like the idea of a dress it's just I think the styling the dress is not enough on its own to to make the outfit and so the styling is necessary and I felt that happened with this look personally the dress could have been really cool with a power pony power Pony power pony I'm such a broken record in the evening of John 's date she's wearing a bright green mini dress with a silver sort of Crystal rope neck detail her hair is down it absolutely should have been up and possibly a power pony maybe an upd maybe a bun I think a bun would have been great I did not love this dress personally do you like buns yes I do like buns so you can't lie about that I cannot lie I do love me some buns all right I love Buns of All Sorts buns are always good name a bun that's not good noad a bow bun great every single bun is good hamburger bun is good yeah people's buns obviously buns buns are hilarious bum like K buns like human buns are just I mean how funny is that oh it's amazing but a but it's the best thing ever it's the best it's the best and I some sometimes I'm just massaging Ruby's butt and it's the most hilarious world oh Ruby has a cute butt you have a cute I just it just had it just looked not expensive I say that I didn't I didn't want to say cheap it just didn't look expensive I think not expensive sounds worse than cheap I think you just say cheap oh you think so yeah not expensive sounds like you're trying to be a of cheap when it actually is just the word you want to use okay now Marcus in the evening she is wearing a satin two-piece red dress I want to like this set and and I do like things about this set but again I felt like with her hair just down this needed styling this is again a piece two pieces that could have been really elevated with styling to look expensive and without the styling it just like she was it looked like she was trying it on at the mall yeah that that's yeah um but I wanted to like this I really this was close for me okay and now at the Rose ceremony she's wearing a tangerine plunge halter dress with two slits a sort of flowy silhouette her hair is down while I liked this color and I think she always looks gorgeous I found this entirely forgettable yeah I agree and you know what else I have decided late in life that I do not like tangerines they are the they are the bastard of the citrus family really don't care for but would at Christmas time don't like them when they're in season they can be good even the best ripest most beautiful Tangerine no they can't be too ripe that's the thing about Tangerine you don't want it too rip I'm just saying perfect ripeness doesn't match up to any other Citrus I'd rather eat a lemon than a good Tangerine I will say I think tangerines have been going downhill like raspberries oh rasberries are finished yeah they've been going downhill for a while but you know what's getting better kiwis oh my God kiwis are going through a golden era an actual Golden Era a literal golden kiwi yeah get your kiwis while you can because it's not going to ever get better than this okay and then finally at mental she's wearing a glittery green plunge halter dress with a cowl neck a low back her hair is Center parted kind of seems slightly pin back but mostly down I liked this dress I thought she looked stunning in this dress I the it's her hair always looks gorgeous so I don't want it to sound like I I don't think her hair looks gorgeous it's just like The Styling could have been like like you really could have like fisting someone you know just driven home just it could have been chef's kiss but she looked absolutely stunning I thought this color was great on her the it she just looked great I don't I don't have much to criticize so it's
