well the inquiry into the Grenville Tower high-rise disaster in London has uh criticized officials and building firms it says that all 72 deaths in the fire in 2017 could have been avoided pointing to Greed and incompetence British prime minister Kier starmer has apologized on behalf of the British State saying that it failed to protect people it was London's worst residential fire since the second world war it's June 2017 an electrical fault Sparks a fire on the fourth floor of the grenfell tower residence in mere moments the entire building is engulfed in flame for 60 hours the grenfell tower burned killing 72 people 7 years on a public inquiry has now published its findings the results are damning the simple truth is that the deaths that occurred were all avoidable and those who lived in the tower were badly failed over a number of years and in a number of different ways by those who were responsible for ensuring the safety of the building and its occupants the report outlined a mix of incompetence dishonesty and greed that resulted in the tower being covered in flammable materials it described Decades of failure among companies regulators and the British government government I want to start with an apology on behalf of the British state to each and every one of you and indeed to all of the families affected by this tragedy it should never have happened the country failed to discharge its most fundamental duty to protect you and your loved ones the people that we are here to serve and I am deeply sorry the inquiry's findings will now be passed to law enforcement who have said no trials are likely until 2027 due to the volume of evidence for many survivors and their families that's not good enough and seven years I just explain to my mothers there is a Justice there is justice but at the end seven years passed and we still have no justice and we have to fight again I don't know how many years going to be take and nobody knows who going to be alive for the just say maybe not Me Maybe not my mother so who going to tell us like what happened after me the inquiry's results may go some way to helping the victims and their families heal but it will be a long road
