A 21-year-old was injured in the neck in a knife attack in Saarland. The perpetrator, who was also male, stabbed his victim on a regional train. The incident occurred shortly before the stop at Saarbrücken main station. The perpetrator then fled. He is now said to have turned himself in. He was supposed to pull in on platform five and shortly before pulling in, the perpetrator stabbed his previously unknown victim. Both men did not know each other before the crime, but were sitting opposite each other in the same compartment. And then the 32-year-old perpetrator stabbed the 21-year-old victim. The neck area was caught, the man was taken to the hospital in Saarbrücken with serious injuries, was operated on there and is still being treated. Yes, those in close range. Police negotiations initially resulted in no arrest of the perpetrator. The man then turned himself in to the federal police that evening and has been in custody here at the main train station ever since. We only know about him as a 32-year-old man of Turkish nationality. The background to why he did the whole thing is still unclear. He will be brought before the judge later today at the district court in Saarbrücken. Then he will probably have to answer questions from the judge.
