2024 FCS Preseason Top 25 | 2024 College Football

hey lifers Dustin here this is college ball lifer where we talk about the past present and future of college football and the uh how about it AP the stats FCS preseason poll was released last week uh I'm just now getting around to it I apologize but I did want to make a video for the FCS fans of this Channel and talk about the preseason poll sitting at the top is a very familiar face actually sitting in the top couple of spots or a bunch of familiar faces in the Dakota and the Montana region of this country which has become the hotbed of FCS highlevel competition over the last couple of years including Montana and South Dakota state in the National Championship last season so we'll start at the bottom and work our way up to uh South Dakota State who is number one on an incredible winning streak at the moment but we'll start at number 25 Youngstown State 8 and five last year 5 and3 in the Missouri Valley they dropped six spots from the final FCS St poll of 2023 they lost in the second round to Villanova they actually open on the road at number six Villanova at 6:00 eastern time Thursday August 29th on Flow football TV all these times are going to be eastern time and unless specified they will be Saturday August 31st which is week one of the uh college football season number 24 is North Dakota 7 and5 5 and3 in the Missouri Valley they dropped eight spots from the final poll last year they lost in the the first round to Sacramento State they take on Iowa State on the road in Jack TR Stadium at 3:30 on FS1 number 23 Nicholls 6 and5 7-0 in the Southlands uh that extra win there comes from a Northwestern State team that forfeited their games I believe uh so technically they get a win in the conference column but not a win in the overall column they lost in the first round to Southern Illinois number 22 Weber State six and five four and four in the Big Sky they move into the rankings along with Nicholls uh they travel to Washington at 11:00 on the Big 10 Network that is Washington's debut in the Big 10 of course number 21 tlon State 8 and3 4 and2 in the UAC that is the United Athletic Conference they move into the rankings they take on Baylor on the road at 7:00 on ESPN plus number 20 Western Carolina 7-4 5 and3 in the socon they move up three spots they open on the road in Raleigh at NC State Thursday August 29th at 7:00 on the ACC Network number 19 Illinois State 6 and5 4-4 in the Missouri Valley they move into the rankings they have a game at noon on the Big 10 Network at Iowa number 18 UC Davis 7-4 last year 5-3 in the Big Sky they move up six spots they open at an ACC Cal Golden Bears at 5:00 on the ACC Network UC Davis at Cal on the ACC Network number 17 Lafayette 9 and3 5-1 the Patriot they move up four spots they were the Patriot co-champs they lost in the first round to Delaware and open this season at Buffalo Thursday August 29th at 7:00 on espm plus number 16 is Albany they were 11-4 probably the surprise team in the FCS last season 7 to1 in the coastal they dropped 11 spots they were the CAA co-champs lost in the semifinals to South Dakota State and they take on Long Island at 7:00 on floow football number 15 William am Mar was six and5 last year 4-4 in the coastal they move into the rankings they take on VMI Thursday August 29th on Flo football number 14 is Incarnate Word they were 8-2 last year 6- one in the Southlands they move up eight spots and they take on Northern Colorado at 7:00 on espm plus number 13 is Richmond 9-4 last year 7-1 in the coastal they move up two spots they were the co- Champs of the ca lost in the second round to Albany and they traveled to Virginia at 6:00 on the ACC Network number 12 is my Ferman paladins they were 10 and three last year 7- one in the socon they dropped five spots the socon Champs lost in the quarterfinals to Montana in overtime pretty thrilling game they travel to Old Miss at 7:00 on the SEC network I think it's the alternate SEC network number 11 Central Arkansas 7-4 4-2 in the UAC they move into the rankings they travel to Arkansas State at 7:00 on ESPN plus number 10 southern Illinois 8 and5 4-4 in the Missouri Valley they move up two spots they lost in the second round last year to Idaho in overtime they travel to BYU at 8:00 on ESPN plus number nine Chattanooga 8-5 last year 6-2 in the socon they move up five spots they lost in the second round to Ferman they travel to Tennessee at 12:45 on the SEC network kind of an odd kickoff time there for the SEC network at number eight is Sacramento State 8 and5 four- four in the Big Sky they move up five spots as well they lost in the second round to South Dakota they travel to San Jose State at 10:00 on True TV how about that number seven Idaho 9 and4 6 and2 in the Big Sky they move up one spot they lost in the quarterfinals to Albany last year they open up on the road in Eugene against Oregon at 7:30 on the Big 10 Network number six Villanova 10 in three last year 7 to1 in the coastal also sharing a co-championship with several teams in that conference last year they lost in the quarterfinals to South Dakota State they take on number 25 Youngstown State at 6:00 on Thursday August 29th on Flo football moving into the top five here we have South Dakota 10-3 last year 7-1 in the Missouri Valley they drop a spot they lost in the quarterfinals to North Dakota State they take on Northern or sorry Northwestern State Thursday August 29th at 8:00 and number four is Montana State they got one first place vote in the preseason ballot they were eight and4 last year 6-2 in the Big Sky they move up five spots after losing in the second round to North Dakota State in overtime they take on New Mexico on the road at 4:00 on August 24th number three Montana 13-2 last year 7-1 in the Big Sky they dropped one spot after their top two finish they were the Big Sky Champs the national champion runner up made it to the championship game they host Missouri State at 9:00 on esbn plus and the top two spots you know the more things change the more they stay the same number two North Dakota State getting three first place votes after an 11-4 season last year 5 and3 in the Missouri Valley they switch with Montana and move up to number two they did lose in the semi-final to Montana last year and they open on the road at Colorado Thursday August 29th at 8:00 on ESPN I know there's a lot of people especially with Dion's recent comments to the media that are really pulling for the Bison in that game so we'll see if uh if they can go into Boulder and upset prime time and at number one the two-time defending national champion South Dakota State jack rabbits 5-2 perfect 15-0 last year 8-0 in the conference they were also national champions Missouri Valley Champions uh they open up on the road in Stillwater at Oklahoma State at 2:00 Eastern Time on esbn plus dropping out of the last season's final top 25 was number 10 Delaware number 11 Florida A&M number 17 Mercer number 18 Austin P number 20 North Car Central and number 25 UT Martin the next five highest vote Getters are Elon UT Martin Eastern Illinois Mercer and Florida A&M and when you break it down by conference the Missouri Valley leads all conferences with seven teams the Big Sky with six the coastal with four socon three Southland USC each have two and Lafayette out of the Patriot so there you have it the uh first Top 25 Poll of the FCS season in 2025 the AP poll drops today the day this video is actually going to be released so I will have a video on that preseason AP Top 25 Poll as well but if you're an
