when you see that field of blue you know it can be only one place in the world boyy Idaho on the campus of boisey state and home to the fabled giant Killers the boyy State Broncos what an exciting matchup we have in store for you this afternoon built around the pageantry tradition and everything that makes college football great as we'll see a squad from Conference USA the New Mex meico State agies taking on a team from the Mountain West the boyy State Broncos for EA Sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David Pollock and Jesse Palmer time to get this game started New Mexico state will kick it off and will be underway here he comes from inside his own five just never had a chance the shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 the Broncos offense is on the field for the first time today and this big fella can beat you in a number of different ways in the passing game David yeah so much fun to have a guy that I can rely on that can beat guys over the middle of the field that can beat manto man cover this guy's the Ultimate Weapon and I love that this guy has an awesome catch radius you don't have to be perfect as a he's got it down the left side and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end that big play is just what they needed now they have it first and 10 just outside the 40 you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the offense 6yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four to the air it's Nelson throwing right reacted well to the tip but just couldn't squeeze the football instead of the turnover it'll be third down and now this offense will try to overcome that second down incompletion snagged in the middle it's jenty and the completion gives him a fresh set of downs and keeps this drive moving and the Broncos have their offense in high gear they'll throw it on first down feeling the heat as he lets it go he caught it he step out of bounds just short of the goal line almost a touchdown but not in there yet now we'll hang on here the coach has called a timeout he wants the officials to take another look thinks he's got a good shot at getting this one overturn so he took a chance by using a Timeout on the challenge and it comes back to bid him we'll see if he needs that timeout later the Broncos will try to punch it in on first and goal through 22 they'll try to get it in with the run into the end zone he goes touchdown BSU P unit on the field follow the blockers the offensive by will take you to the Hallelujah land and I tell you what most of the time Le it requires a little bit of skill to find that hole you know Slither through a little crack that was not a crack that was wide open didn't take a lot of vision cuz the blocking was outstanding really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 so New Mexico state's offense headed on to the field our first look at them today here are our impact players for this game and it goes beyond executing an assignment to make an impact in the game yeah obviously we were talking to both coaching staffs this week and we asked them who needs to step up and play while they immediately pointed to these guys right here they are the key for their respective teams yeah and they don't always show up in the Box Score but these are the guys are the leaders these are the guys getting everybody organized and have to play well for their team to succeed give to the back gets it out to the 25 yd line a gain of three so they're facing third and short from the 25 all right well the offense here they're trying to get this run game established they obviously don't break off a long run there but they're just trying to find their football and the quarterback is knocked down back at the 13 New Mexico state will be forced to punt three and out they got stuck in Reverse they hope the punt can bail them out he gets a block really good job by the coverage team to make the Stop and that's where they'll put it in play the offense set for a first down play from the gun they'll give it on the inside and with that stop we are headed toward the end of the first quarter that's the end of the quarter and boyy state has the lead we put one in the books Let's have a look at our game [Music] summary and they've swapped into the field and we'll get it going in the second will'll start the quarter offense about to snap it on second down he's got it again really nice stop there from this senior leader well they're going RPO nice job handing it off and really good Vision there just getting what he can get right puts his foot in the ground gets forward helps this offense find positive now they're really starting to threaten as they pick up the first down at the 34 yd line well there we go we finally see some life in this offense running the football nice game to pick up the first down got to get more of that going moving forward cuz they have not run it they make the stop if this passing game does some damage and they move the sticks with the first down and the Broncos come to the line with a new set of downs they'll ride the running back and leave it with him every offense wants to be able to run the ball and be physical especially on first down and you want to create second and short third and short or just get first downs like that run right there and they'll knock him down they keep pushing forward now back to work on second and goal from the six back to throw it's Nelson and he's got it touchdown Broncos that touch down gives this team a prettyy significant lead at this point and that's what you want you want to start fast you want everything to come out start clicking make some plays it doesn't always work that way but when you do man the energy the crowd everybody's into it now the other team better respond [Music] lining up to add another kicker on for the extra point and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown state from inside the 20 chance for great field position he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 the New Mexico State offense returns to the field getting late here in the first half they'll have a chance to make this a one possession game and the offensive play caller here has to really be dialed in it's important down two possessions David that they're able to score some points and you got to call your best stuff in this two-minute situation and and such a good opportunity to cut it to a onore game create that momentum get some good juices going for the second half because obviously you know you built yourself and the pressure gets there and down he goes at the 18 and how about the defense getting home the pass rush pling man coverage in the back end you need to win up front those guys got to get to the quarterback do a great job rushing the pass I can play man when I got a pass rush like that here's the hand off he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple number2 [Applause] fields to punt and try to pick up some yards they finally make the stop but that one will make those halftime stats look a little nicer as we head to the break as the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halftime update guys time for everyone inside that stadium and boyc to take a deep breath and kind of digest what we just saw and it's been said football is a game of inches and guess what based on the comparison between third down conversion rate today and the average yard per play how can you argue that I mean the low-lying fruit is to look at some of the explosive plays we've seen in panic but really this game is going to come down to which team is more efficient when they have the ball and how they play when it matters most New Mexico state will kick it away to open this third quarter from inside the 15 chance for a good return didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be sto at the 17 the aies offense will have another go at it down two possessions to start this third quarter they'd love to build some early momentum you ain't lying cuz you only got so many possessions here in the second half so now you're down I got to maximize every single one put your best plays together start this drive off on a good note yeah it starts right here obviously you can't get it all back on this drive but you can create that momentum you can create something special and some energy but it's going to start with this offense here EX exting at a high L it's definitely the wide receiver's job to create space right so whether you're running a go or you're running a hitch like this right here I got to find a way to push off legal or just create a little bit of space to get some positive yards and the defense finally makes the stop after the sweet run and good gain as they get set to snap it just about to reach the end of the quarter that's the end of the quarter and boisey state has the lead and they've built a comfortable lead after three quarters of play Let's Take a look at how we've gotten here as we start the fourth quarter it'll take a pretty sizable comeback to win this one New Mexico state to the line after picking up the first down back to throw it's Hogan got his man that's just not going to get it done David at this point of the game you're trailing you've got to pick up the urgency and this offense is going to have to get more aggressive throwing down field they're going to have to take shots but I know that right the defense knows that I'm going to stay deep and I'm going to let you and the pressure gets to him down goes to quarterback trying to get everybody set with the clock still [Applause] running on Third and long you'll need to push it down field and the pressure gets to him again another sack the offense will quickly use the timeout down by multiple possessions they can't come up empty on this drive in the fourth quarter they'll go for it on fourth down he's going up top here late in the game the clock will stop with this timeout from the offense they'll get a chance to regroup on the sideline short Fields make successful offense is just what they want here they'll keep it on the ground the clock is on their side finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down when a running back gets going and gets ahead of steam like that so hard to get to the ground that's why you Blitz that's why you bring pressure that's why you bring more guys in the box so you can get him before he gets going but once he got going you could tell it was hard to get a hand on him hard to get him to the ground can the D deny them on second and goal trying to bully their way in he worked his way ever closer all the way down to the one yd line and this offense you're halfway home all you got to do is do the same exact thing Palmer fall forward and be physical here and that's why they practice these goal and he takes it in for the score touchdown boyy State his guys looking to put the finishing touches on this game with that score yeah I think you feel confident that end it right late in the game it would take a miracle for the defense to get back in it that Miracle is no longer coming now let's see what he can get done from inside his own 15 able to find enough room to get it out across the 25 he's brought down at the 26 the New Mexico State offense returns to the field this offense has pretty much been stuck in the mud the entire game it's been a frustrating performance Jesse Yeah and listen you can't be hanging your head just yet this game's not over this coaching staff is still evaluating their players so if you're on the field right now you've got to finish this game you got to try to prove something to him well the game is over to be clear they're not coming back but I I hear what you're saying keep fighting keep showing your coaches it matters and maybe find something positive here late that you can build on for the weeks to come that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't knock free for a fumble they turn to the passing game on Third and short and the pass rush is effective and they tackle him at the 19 you makic co state lines up quickly on fourth down they'll pass for it stands in and takes the hit takes a shot as he throws and it never had a chance incomplete couldn't ask for better field position for this offense they go to the ground and how about the efficiency on that one it'll bring up second and four going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making a good run touchdown Broncos and the route is on there is time on the clock if there is time on the clock there is time to put more points on the board I mean the scoreboard operator needs to work out too right yeah and I guess he's he's been getting it in the defenses job is is to stop but I would argue reys you can just take a knee if you take a knee run the clock you still get out of here you still get the wh good job by the coverage unit put a stop to that return the aies offense will have another go at it not a lot to feel great about in this one Jesse but I'm sure they'll try to seek out some positive and this looks disastrous oh down he goes a huge loss on that play after getting nothing done on the last one this is a big play second and long from the [Applause] 11 you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 he's looking downfield to throw blasted as he lets it go he took a hit as he threw it and couldn't deliver the football it's incomplete and fourth Down's coming New Mexico state will be forced to punt sometimes avoiding disaster is the best thing the punter just gets it out of there they'll bring him down the clock is at zero and that is how this one will wrap up well this one had all the suspense of a bug hurdling his way toward a wind
