when you see the tent you know somebody's been killed and it's pretty heavy a 32-year-old man stabbed to death in the early hours of Wednesday morning a white tent set up along Union Street north of the entrance to the Georgia Viaduct during the morning commute shortly before 3:30 a.m. this morning uh our officers responded to reports of a man who was in medical distress on Union Street just east of Main Street police say they found the man with a stab wound and despite trying to save him he died before he could be taken to the Hospital like so terrifying just to hear that that's happening there's just seems to be a lot of knife a lot of stabbings going on which is pretty scary the coroner arrived on scene around 10:00 a.m. police doing a 3D scan of the area with evidence markers scattered on scene no arrests have been made so far in this case but police are asking Witnesses or anyone with dash cam video that was near Maine and Union Street between midnight and 3:30 a.m. on June 5th to speak with them our priority right now is uh securing and preserving any evidence that uh there may be to uh identify the person responsible and to solve this crime VPD says they're protecting the identity of the victim until next ofkin is notified they did not confirm whether or not the man was unhoused or what he was doing outside in the middle of the night I feel really safe around here um I know that there have been homicides down here but it's always the vulnerable community members that are getting killed down here and it's never anybody driving in their cars or living in their apartments around here police say as the investigation is in its early stages they're also unable to confirm if it was a random incident or if the suspect in the victim knew each other at this point in the investigation we have not established a motive we have not made uh arrests and we're working to fully understand all of the circumstances that led up to what is the city's fourth homicide of 2024 in Vancouver Kate Walker City news
