WE ARE TALKING ABOUT RECORDS FROM ESSENTIALLY THE DAY TO DAY INSPECTIONS GOING ON INSIDE OF THAT BOAR VIRGINIA AND WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE RECORDS FROM THE DAY TO DAY LOSS, YOU CAN SEE THAT INSPECTORS, TIME AND TIME AGAIN WERE LAGGING CONCERNS THEY HAD IN THAT PLANT, THINGS LIKE INSECTS CRAWLING UP ON WALLS, GNATS PLAYING INTO BALLS. THEY WOULD WALK INTO COOLERS AND SEE MOLD GROWING ON THE WALLS. THEY WOULD INSPECT THE LOCATIONS WHERE WORKERS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE WASHING THEIR HANDS AND THEY WOULD FIND MOLD AND MILDEW GROWING AROUND THE STATIONS. AGAIN, THESE ARE REPEATED ISSUES THAT CAME UP AT THIS PLANT DAY IN AND DAY OUT. THEY WERE FOUND BY INSPECTORS IN THE YEAR LEADING UP TO THE RECALLED. >> I AM WATCHING YOUR REPORT AND I AM CHECKING ON MY FRIDGE AND THERE IS PLENTY OF BOAR HEAD MEAT AND THERE, WHAT SHOULD I DO? WHAT KIND OF SYMPTOMS SHOULD WE BE LOOKING OUT FOR? >> THE NUMBER ONE THING YOU SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR IS 12612. AGAIN, THE NUMBER IS 12612. THAT IS THE ESTABLISHMENT NUMBER PRINTED ON THE LABEL OF ANY OF THE MEATS THAT CAME FROM THAT FACTORY. IF YOU WENT TO THE GROCERY STORE AND YOU GOT SOME DELI MEAT, IT WILL NOT ALWAYS BE ON THAT LABEL BUT IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THAT DELI OR GROCERY STORE TO TELL YOU THAT THE MEAT HAS BEEN RECALLED. IN THE WEEKS AND DAYS AFTER YOU EAT MEATS THAT ARE CONTAMINATED WITH LISTERIA, YOU COULD HAVE THOSE COMMON FOOD POISONING SYMPTOMS LIKE DIARRHEA, VOMITING, FEVER BUT THERE ARE MORE SEVERE COMPLICATIONS THAT SOMETIMES HAPPEN THAT COULD HAPPEN UP TO 10 WEEKS AFTER YOU EAT THAT CONTAMINATED MEAT AND THAT COULD BE ANYTHING FROM MUCH MORE CONCERNING SYMPTOMS ALL THE WAY TO MISCARRIAGES. IT HAPPENS SOMETIMES WITH PREGNANT PEOPLE. >> JUST REAL QUICK, I WANT TO KNOW, HAVE WE GOTTEN A RESPONSE FROM BOAR WE HAVE A STATEMENT WE NEED TO READ FROM THEM? >> BOAR THEY ARE INVESTIGATING THIS PLANT. THEY HAVE SHUT DOWN OPERATIONS AND THEY WILL NOT REOPEN UNTIL THEY MEET THOSE HIGH STANDARDS.
