Big 10 Picks: Week 2 Edition

hello and welcome to the JSA Studio I am your host as always Nathan and today I'm coming at you with the picks for week two we're going to be picking every single Big 10 team that plays I'm going to give you a winner and by default a loser but before we get into the picks starting off with Friday's games it's at this point that I would like to ask you to like comment and subscribe to help grow this YouTube channel and now with the intro done and out of the way there's only one thing left to do and that's to get started now on Friday there are two games of interest for me and the Big 10 that is of course going to be Western Illinois versus Indiana uh there is no spread or over under information or at least not that I could find on that game which makes sense because Indiana would probably just cover it no matter what it is uh and Duke versus Northwestern Northwestern is favored by 2 and A2 points and the over under is set at 40 and a half Western Illinois versus Indiana not a whole lot to talk about there so on this section here I'm really just going of focus on Duke versus Northwestern I think this is an interesting matchup I think Duke is better than people want to give them credit I liked the way way they looked uh at least in the little bit of film that I watched on them I get that if you look at the score of that game the final score it was 26-3 against some school called Elon uh I think that had more to do with the fact that it's just High variability in week one I thought Malik Murphy the transfer from Texas looked really good I think they're going to be able to run the ball effectively and I think their defense is solid I would be surprised Ed if Duke didn't make a Bull game this year and I think Northwestern is also kind of in that same territory with maybe a little bit more difficult of a schedule as they play in the Big 10 instead of the ACC however I think they're pretty close to being evenly matched uh the line does seem to imply that this would be a toss up on a neutral field because generally speaking uh the line usually takes into account a two and a half or threep Point Advantage uh for being at home which sometimes makes sense and sometimes doesn't make sense but generally speaking that is just about correct I think uh teams n universally play better at home than they do on the road so I think putting that into the line a little bit is is probably a good idea however when it comes to Duke versus Northwestern I just kind of think Duke is in a better position right now I think Manny Diaz is a better Coach than David Brun I think Malik Murphy is the better quarterback I think generally speaking in terms of actual talent on roster I think Duke has more however uh this is even this is a pretty close matchup here however all that being said I am going to give Duke the W here I just I don't have a whole lot of reasoning behind this but I just think Duke's going to win the game generally speaking early on in season especially I'm going to lean towards the team that has the better quarterback uh and I think Duke has the better quarterback right now uh Indiana is also going to beat Western Illinois in my opinion as well I don't think there are going to be a lot of people that are going to be taking Western Illinois to pull off the upset here moving on to the Saturday noon slate this is going to kick off of course with probably the biggest game of the week Texas at Michigan Michigan is currently a seven and a half Point Underdog in this game uh and I mean honestly I get it they did not look good week one Texas did however I think Fresno State is significantly better than Colorado State and Michigan is also breaking into new quarterback which Texas isn't doing I don't know there's a lot of nuance to this I had a whole video about it on Wednesday if you want want to go ahead and watch it there um Bowling Green at Penn State Penn State is a 35 A2 Point favorite uh University of Rhode Island at Minnesota there's no line available for that game and akan at ruers ruers is currently a 23 and a half Point favorite in that one as well moving back to the top of the list here Texas at Michigan I did not give a score per ition in my video that I did that was over an hour long on Texas versus Michigan where I broke down Michigan film and talked about how close they were in the Run game to having a couple of big plays and about how awful Davis Warren was and I also talked about Texas and how I kind of think that they are overrated as well however I I do think Texas right now is the better team than Michigan and I predicted Texas to win I did not give a score in that game I'm not going to give you one now uh Bowling Green at Penn State uh obviously Penn State is going to win that game the question is whether or not they cover and I don't care Rhode Island at Minnesota Minnesota should win this game relatively easily uh they played a honestly kind of bad North Carolina team in my opinion uh very evenly should have won that game but their kicker can't kick you know college kickers and all of that uh Akron at ruers is actually probably the most interesting game on here because we're going to have a direct line of comparison between ruers and Ohio State because they're playing akan akan played Ohio State last week and they're playing ruers this week so if ruers looks just as good against akan as Ohio state did then maybe Ohio State isn't as good as we thought they were however even then I don't buy into that a whole lot uh ruer 23 and A2 Point favorite I think they're going to win there as well moving on to Saturday at 3:30 here this is where we have maybe the second best matchup of the day in my opinion with Iowa State at Iowa Iowa is currently a three-point favorite the over under for this game is set at 35 and a half we have our first I believe Big 10 matchup this year with Michigan State heading to Maryland Maryland is currently a 9 and a half Point favorite the over under is set at 44 and a half uh we then have Eastern Michigan going all the way out west to play Washington and Washington is currently a 25o favorite with the over under set at 47 and a half we then have South Dakota not South Dakota state in case uh people were thinking that this might be a good FCS team versus Wisconsin Wisconsin is a 12 and a half Point favorite and that says quite a bit about what Vegas thinks about Wisconsin moving back to the top here Iowa State at Iowa this is a interesting matchup if you enjoy defensive football I'm still not bought in on Iowa's offense I still don't think they're going to be even an average offense at the college football level let alone the power four level and I think Iowa state does have a really good defense I'm not sure about their offense however I think that there is a definitive possibility we might be looking at a game here that's like 9 to3 I I think that's a real chance of happening because I'm not positive either of these offense is going to be able to move the ball really at all and I do still believe that they both have really really good defenses as far as Michigan State and Maryland Michigan state did not look good week one I was relatively high on Michigan State this year I thought that they would at least have a competent offense even though the defense I thought was probably going to look awful uh and they looked better than I thought they would look uh but the offense looked significantly worse than I thought that they were going to look uh Maryland I thought looked okay week one uh but I think Maryland is probably the better team here Michigan State might be more of a rebuild than I initially thought it was going to be uh Eastern Michigan at Washington South Dakota at Wisconsin not a whole lot to talk about there a bad Mac team and a good FCS team although admittedly not a great FCS team uh should just not be able to hang with power five or power four now competition I have Iowa with the w over Iowa State I have Maryland beating Michigan State I have Washington beating Eastern Michigan and I have Wisconsin beating South Dakota so I think the Big 10 is going to sweep the 330 time slate Kansas at Illinois kicks off the 7:30 time slate here and this game to me is not as interesting as a lot of people are trying to make it seem but we'll talk about that in more detail in just a second Western Michigan at Ohio State probably not going to come back to this game Ohio State's going to destroy them I think they're going to look significantly better than they did last week against akan and uh even though Western Michigan did give Wisconsin a little bit of a fight I don't think that they're going to give Ohio State much of a fight at all uh Colorado at Nebraska interesting for all kinds of reasons however I I think Nebraska is rightfully f favored by 7 and 1/2 in that game with the overunderish going to be a team that competes in the Big 12 this year I think the Big 12 is wide open and I do think Kansas is one of the in my opinion four teams that has a chance to win that conference however I'm not positive that they're actually going to be able to compete with a team like Utah or Arizona that just has more NFL Talent across the board than they do however it wouldn't shock me if Jaylen Daniels is just that good at the quarterback position I do think Kansas is one of the four teams that has the ability to win the Big 12 in my opinion there might be five if you want to include West Virginia I'm not really going to include them I think last year was maybe just a little bit of an aberation I I'm still not a big fan of Neil Brown uh however uh West Virginia is kind of on the outskirts of that maybe they can compete maybe they can't uh Utah Arizona Kansas State and Kansas are the four teams that I think have a chance to win the Big 12 and I don't think Illinois has a chance to win the Big 10 I think Kansas is a significantly better team than Illinois and because of that I am going to predict that Kansas gets the W there western and Michigan at Ohio State Ohio State should win that uh whether or not they cover is a different conversation and I don't know and I also don't care uh Colorado at Nebraska this game is interesting for two reasons first reason a lot of people are hating on Deion Sanders in Colorado I'm not in that camp I don't really care uh I get why people are annoyed with them however I I still think Colorado is probably a team that is going to go maybe six and six or seven and five I think Nebraska is significantly better than I thought they were going to be heading into this season Dylan Rola looks like that guy I get that it was against utap however I'm not positive that Colorado's defense is any better than the University of Texas El Paso so I do think Nebraska should win this game and I think it should be relatively easily however Shader Sanders might just be that good uh heading into this year Shader Sanders was the only quarterback that I had like a for sure going in the first round grade on I think there are maybe two more players that could get there for this year cam Mor at Washington and Carson back at Georgia are the only two that I could see potentially moving into the like oh yeah I'm positive that they're going to get taken in the first round sort of Camp I also have some hot takes about Travis Hunter and where he should go in the NFL draft and what position he should play in the NFL uh however we're going to save that for the off season um all in all Colorado does have better top end Talent it's not just Travis Hunter and Jer Sanders Jimmy horn is also very very good at wide receiver Colorado may or may not have a type of offense where they can just score on anybody in bunches uh but they're not very consistent or at least they weren't in week one and also last year however this is still a program that is building itself up however even then there are some big question marks that I have with this team when shador Sanders is gone because I think he is kind of bailing out this team a whole lot so I don't know if they're going to be good next year at all which may or may not lead to Deion Sanders getting canned but that is a conversation for another time all in all all I think Nebraska wins this game I think they're very very likely to head into the Ohio State game at uh what would that be S and0 I think in which case they might in all honesty be ranked inside the top 15 so that could be a interesting testing point for both Ohio State and also Dylan riola because hypothetically if Nebraska wins that game they got a chance to go to 12-0 now they do also play USC and Iowa however I think if you're good enough to beat Ohio State you're probably good enough to beat USC maybe it was a little bit fluky the way you beat Ohio State and I would be concerned about dropping the next week if you didn't play UCLA who I think is God awful so Nebraska is a potentially very interesting team if they can pull off the W like I think they're going to our final bunch of games here is going to be the Saturday late slate we've got a game that shouldn't be all that interesting but might end up being kind of interesting in Boise State at Oregon Boise State looked real real good week one Oregon looked real real bad I think we're going to see an Oregon team that is going to come out and be like oh yeah no we are the team that you thought we were and I think they're going to handle business versus Boise State uh Utah State at USC USC should win comfortably there might be a little bit of an LSU hangover uh if I was a betting person I would not bet on USC to cover uh Purdue and UCLA do not have games this week so all in all I do think Oregon is going to win and I also think USC is going to win unfortunately I can't hand out W and L's for off weeks otherwise I would probably give UCLA an L but that's just me and what do I know I'm just some on the internet giving you his opinion and to this point I would like to remind you to like the video if you liked it subscribe if you want to see more content like
