LSU vs. Tulane: Battle for the Tiger Rag

welcome to yulman Stadium in New Orleans home to the Dwayne Green Wave and as this city likes to say let the good times roll and the two a fans are certainly ready for that this match up today part of the light blood of the sport a rivalry game where the results will be remembered for a lifetime as we'll see the number 13 team in the country the LSU Tigers taking on a team from the AAC the two lane Green Wave for sports college football I'm Reese Davis joined here in the booth as always by David Pollock and Jesse Palmer guys let's tee this one up LSU ready to kick it away to get things [Music] started on the move from inside is five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the Green Wave offense takes the field and they'll have the first possession of the game these rivalry games can really get the blood pumping and we'll see who can manage their emotions best early everyone's been waiting for this game right you know both of these teams have had this game circled all the way back to the beginning of the off season so you got to be able to play Under Control with passion with energy with hatred because it's a rivalry game to keep your emotions in check and making sure I'm controlling what I can control that last completion sets him up on second [Applause] down from the gun they'll give it on the inside looks as if that'll be enough for a two- a first down I love when players understand situations and they understand where the first down marker is and they understand where I got to get to a lot of people you'll see run north south and try to bounce out wide and make big plays sometimes it's not about making big plays sometimes it's about getting that first down to make sure I get an extra set of downs instead of trying to make those big touchdown runs the receiver on the Jet Sweep can get him to the ground I know you want to prepare for every game the same way but there's just something different about rivalry games Jesse it's because Reese I think players are aware that games like this Define your legacy as a player your record in rivalry games is something that people are going to talk about for years and years down the road you have got to show up and play your best football in games like this got his man quickly and they pick up just a few on that completion that play was designed to go to the running back they were hoping they were going to get man coverage and oneon-one that back is going to win that matchup every single time passing game very effective on second down what about here on [Applause] third Thompson wants to throw he's got his man and they'll spot it at the 45 that's good enough for a first down he might have expected to see this DB up in his receivers kitchen instead nice little Zone and they pick up the first man offenses are getting so good Rees at seeing the holes in the zone knowing you're in zone knowing where to sit down how to make it an easy pitch and catch for the quarterback and that's what it was on Third and Sh using his legs it's Huges and he'll pick up one it brings up second and nine and that's what you try to do as a defense those damages when they run the football get them on the ground short gains to set your defense for positive situations down the road didn't get much on first down it's second and nine now they'll run the draw they wrestle him to the ground but he's got ready for a first down and for a draw play to be successful it's not just the quarterback that has to sell pass but also the offensive line the tackles really letting their defensive BS Rush up field guards and centers passing their guys off at the last second and then running down the field trying to get hats on hats in the second level beautiful execution one man in the back field and he gets it one step wrap twep squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground that's a really good job by the defense wrapping him up getting them on the ground take away that run game make them onedimensional put him in passing situations really good job by the def defense after picking up a couple it's second and [Applause] eight he's looking to throw caught in the back field it's brown he is going nowhere stop at the line of scrimmage nice job defense you always hear people talk about tackling the catch you saw it right there there was nowhere for that receiver to go once he had possession as a result no game ninth play of the opening drive coming up but now they face a third down Thompson to throw and the Freshman will talk up a sack things working pretty well for this defense out of the dime package and still getting plenty of heat on the quarterback yeah get off the rock understand the situation all the fast guys got the back end covered it's my job to seek and destroy the quarterback great job by the defensive line rushing after that guy and getting him on the ground Tain forced to send out the punt unit he ought to be able to use his first punt to pin him deep he won't be able to return this one as it goes out of bounds the LSU Tigers offense will go to work for the first time here are our impact players for this game and it goes beyond executing and ass assignment to make an impact in the game yeah obviously we were talking to both coaching staffs this week and we asked them who needs to step up and play while they immediately pointed to these guys right here they are the key for their respective teams yeah and they don't always show up in the Box Score but these are the guys are the leaders these are guys getting everybody organized and have to play well for their team to [Applause] succeed nyd pickup on first down and now they can take a shot on second and short the playaction fake fires to the wide out that is just a sideline credit throw catch tow drag everything you want that's a really nice job hauling that pass in and you think LSU has just been such a breeding ground in recent years for receivers Jamar Chase Justin Jefferson obj Jarvis Landry they all have the ability to make a play anywhere on the field that's what this guy can do you can line him up anywhere he can run routes all three levels of the secondary the defense has to know where he is lined up every single play the sure hands it's Williams good pick up there they'll move the chain in their set up at the 41 just about any LSU offense will make you hold your breath when they play pitch and catch yeah just such Elite Playmakers usually just such speed and listen when you're a defense speed kills and LSU no matter who plays quarterback they always got dudes that can fly out wide that absolutely scare you the give to the back and that's a very productive first down play and bringing up second and three we anticipate this one being much tighter than the last time these two met when it was a blowout David and here's the thing you got an opportunity right now you got the football early in this game to show you this is going to be more of the same Palmer well we talked to both coaching staffs and players and they're all very aware of what happened the last time these two teams played so expect everybody's aame today Rees you're right we expect this one to be a lot tighter and it is well blocked as they pick up enough for a first down well I know the tight end did some good things after the catch but got to give the quarterback credit too for the location of the throw because he put it out in front of his big man he was able to make the catch and accelerate creating some distance there between him and the defense to the air it's nus Meer fires to the tight end and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pick up love the way he didn't just run to a spot he found the cushion in the zone and got himself open for the first down yeah and you're taught to find that space don't run right into a Zone Defender who's sitting there looking at the quarterback and looking at you so much creat ity with routes now of being able to just have subtle moves One Way come back the other way nice job by the tight end finding that hole in the zone they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and I think in today's era of college football we get enamored with the Jet Sweep it's exciting you're getting this wide receiver involved in the Run game but sometimes it's just better to go old school just run the football conventionally North sou side operating in the Red Zone here on second [Applause] down he is looking to throw it's caught they've got it down to the three yd line really well done on that throw and catch guys out of the back field now it's not just run the ball downhill anymore you got to be versatile I got to be able to trust you in the pass game and I got to be able to throw you the football and you can do that right there I know you're going to catch it and I can depend on it tight quarters deep in the Red Zone but they can pick up a first down without scoring third down oh and he dropped it he had a touchdown right in his hands and couldn't hang on it'll be fourth down man these windows get tighter down here in the red zone and those catches are a little bit more contested more people near you and it gets a little bit more difficult but you need your players to step up for the QB and make big plays I think he's going to look back and say I should have made that play it is true as he puts three on the board and with that they break the seal on the scoring it's three nothing I'll tell you this is not an easy place to play on the road especially at night time this crowd they get loud that's the way it's been so far but they have a nice drive to open it up they're able to execute they put themselves in field goal range knock it through the uprights they did exactly what they needed to do taking a 3 nothing lead here early on the road that's impressive after that last field goal Drive they're set to kick it away from inside the 10 yd line he'll bring it back and he's able to pick his way through the traffic nicely for a good return on that one before he's brought [Applause] down Thompson wants to throw they're trying to get to it and there was nowhere to go for this quarterback and down he goes the defense coming up big there and the sack is great but the secondary deserves some credit too no doubt when you can cover like that in the secondary and drop back in your Zone and only Rush a few and you feel comfortable getting home and they're going to get to the quarterback that is a great feeling and that's fun to be a defensive coordinator calling the plays they'll try to keep that sack from Wrecking this drive here on second and 15 he's looking to throw quick completion on the out and he goes out of bounds after coming up with positive yardage there must be nice for this quarterback knowing he's got this type of athlete playing the tight end position I can work the middle of the field form he's a guy who can stretch it vertically as well but this is a guy the QB will look for early and off in this game third down coming up after the completion from the gun wants to pass and that pressure just engulfed him a sack for this defense well I think one of the biggest reasons why this team is finding themselves in a hole here in the first half is this has been a sack party they can't keep the defense off of their quarterback they haven't been able to get the ball deep down the field throwing it with the consistency they want because they can't keep their quarterback standing up straight toan forced to send out the punt unit this will be the second time they've had to kick it away looking for a block it's Thomas this guy is a daring pun Return Man he's not going to settle for the fair catch a solid return gets a little bit of ground for the offense they'll start this drive with a pass looking deep down the right side and that one's incomplete we taking a shot there but couldn't hook up and the offensive coordinator here is really trying to stay aggressive and take a shot obviously the offense couldn't click on that one but later in the game if on this offense I'm continuing to stay aggressive keep the foot down on the gas P to the ground with the back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple yeah I think the running back kind of went rad on that last running play I'm not sure it was designed to go that direction he tried to make it happen on his own and un fortunately ended up losing yards they've got some work to do on this third and long from the 40 to the air it's nus me quick strike complete and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker great job by the offense understanding when they're in zone coverage I got to hit those Tight Windows make those precise passes to get those big plays looks as if LSU will line up to punt it away first punt of the day and he'd love to lock them up close to their goal line and the punt hits ground at the two and goes into the end zone he just missed pinning them right in the shadow of the goal post it'll come out to the 20 they'll run it found a little bit of running route knocked down at the 24 after a pick up of four that's a really nice play it's impressive when it's first down and the defense thinks you might be running the football you still can line up you can get some movement at the point of attack and find a little crease for your running back after the productive first down play it's second and [Applause] six on the ground it's Hughes and it is a good idea to gang tackle first guy couldn't get him second guy finally did all right look I know the defense was feeling real good about their run de coming into this one and how they've been playing up to this point but finally David the offense breaks through and they finally generate something positive on the ground and I can't tell you how easy it is when you're going to throw the ball consistently and I know it I'm going to pin my ears back and I'm going to get to the quarterback it makes life really easy on a defensive line but when you can have balance now the defense doesn't know what coming they need more of this than they going be successful on offense I love jet sweeps because it puts so much pressure on defenses with their eye discipline it's really hard for these linebackers and DBS and defensive ends to locate a really fast receiver cutting across the formation so quickly getting the hand off you see that time he's able to use his speed to go get the first they'll run it behind the big guys on the left that play just never had a chance they knock him down for a loss of five well there's a statement by the defensive line first down play expecting run and they just dominated up front beat their one-on ones and force a tackle for a loss they'll try to overcome that last play on second and 15 Thompson to throw and he just flat dropped it I think he wanted to run before he secured it that ball hit him right in a bad spot right in the hands really unfortunate he didn't come down with that one here they come facing third and long from the [Applause] 40 looking to throw and he needs a bunch and the defense is all over the quarterback and down he goes what a great job by this defense setting the tone early in the first half they've been hitting the quarterback early and often make him feel uncomfortable make him feel that pressure keep getting him on the ground that's why theyve built the [Applause] lead Tain forced to send out the punt unit in pun form to kick it away and he'll work his way on the return out to the 3 5 yd line before he stopped LSU will dive into the Playbook here on offense boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this drive didn't get much done on that first play of the drive and second and 11 it's a draw good job running tough and behind his pads as he gets up to the 38 yd line and as an offense having success on a run play like that early in the game just opens up all the possibilities of your playbook moving forward play action running the ball throwing the ball screens anything is at your disposal at this [Applause] point on third thir down he'll try to pick it up through the air and the defense gets to the quarterback that's a good example there of complim Defense the DBS of linebackers are playing Zone they're playing their spaces and they force the QB to to have to hold the ball try to work through his progressions and then the pass rush they win up front LSU will bring the punt team on the field three and out and not much choice but to get rid of the ball no return coming he'll call for the fair catch duain has it back in the offense coming out to go on the attack their Drive chart is starting to look a little monotonous punt punt punt David and their defense is starting to get a little frustrated too they just keep putting me back on the field possession after possession Jesse this F need to get their heads out of there you know what the punter's on the sideline with the oxygen mask right now he's been playing so much he's not used to this this offense they just got to stay on the field they've got to put a drive together and get some balance going running and throwing the ball wide out in motion receiver going from The Edge on the Jet Sweep he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and that is how you stop the Jet Sweep if you're on defense you get penetration up front yeah they're going to try to out flank you but they can't do anything about it if you got dudes up front winning one-on-one after losing a couple on that last play here's second and [Applause] 12 Thompson wants to throw it's incomplete and will change ends of the field now guys LSU as the lead here we put one in the books Let's have a look at our game summary l [Music] heading in the opposite directions now as we Crank It Up in the second they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here on third down going up top the quarterback scrambled around but the defense able to scramble him and turn it into a sack play man this poor quarterback he's got no time you got to protect your quarterback you got to find different ways to do it sometimes it's not working with four wide receivers maybe you bring in a couple tight ends go Max protection more guys blocking less guys in routes but you got to find something to have success Tain forced to send out the punt unit to [Applause] away on the return it's Thomas and he'll work his way on the return out to the 35 yd line before he stops the Bayou Bengals will run the offense out onto the field the give to the tail back good pick up on the ground and they'll Mark him down at the 39 it's just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second down solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six [Applause] he's looking to throw release to the back caught near the sticks it's Williams really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down first down for the offense here's this offense with a fresh set of downs wide receiver shows motion caught in the back field it's Thomas and he's just run out of bounds maybe living to fight another day there it'll be a loss on the [Music] play Here Comes the offense on second down [Applause] the give on the inside and he has a solid gain before the defense bottles him up I know the passing game sells the passing game is exciting but it's not exciting to get five or six yards a pop on the ground but it will be very successful the marker rest at the 39 and that's what they need here on third down to the air it's nus Meer pressure's there and he lets it go and he'll Chuck it into the chief seats there and save the down nobody getting open there the offensive line has got to give him at least a little bit of time to survey the field he had no chance that time getting hit almost immediately after he got the ball looks as if LSU will line up to putt it away let's see if he can help the coverage team out with this one and the ball hits at the three and gets into the end zone and it'll be a Touchback the twain offense headed back onto the field they've hit a bit of a lull here and they need to get things cranked up with his possession Jesse just haven't had a rhythm these last couple of possessions but I'll tell you the best way to get all by himself down the middle pass the 20 touchdown Green Wave and once he found open space the band might as well start playing and really nice job seeing the middle of the field seeing I can go deep and attack the middle of field you can tell he runs a post balls right on him catches the football and then gets to gallop right into the end zone for a touchdown [Applause] lining up to tack one more onto that lead extra point and the extra point is good and it's a four-point lead that was going to get a little star Mark decided on the play sheet One play explosive touchdown just like that the kickoff muted about to go to work K here's the return from inside is 10 just never had a chance to shake Boo and he'll be brought down at to 24 no she will dive into the Playbook here on offense that last Drive won't go on the Highlight Reel after ending in a punt they'd like to be more productive this time David and I think this offense has to be a little bit more balce find a little Bal makes the catch down the right side After Burner coming and he ran away from the defense to take it in touchdown Tigers man that's a play this kid has been running ever since he was 7 years old at the park with his best friend throwing him go routes right down the field I'm running by a guy I'm looking back locating the football making the catch and he does it in a big moment here in this game [Music] they'll try to add another to their lead extra point and the extra point puts them up by a field goal that drive not too taxing on the Playbook One play put it in the end zone just like that l about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown to kick off looking for those open spaces and opportunity and the coverage team able to wrestle him down Tain has it back in the offense coming out to go on the attack boy that last touchdown the oneplay quick strike scored Jesse this offense hoping to keep that kind of explosiveness going and I don't know if they're going to get the same looks defensively because of just how explosive that play was Rees David they may be seeing a little bit more uh off coverage on this drive and maybe some softer boxes to run into and when you make that kind of explosive play you're going to put the defense on its heels they're going to be a little bit more conservative so this offense approach now maybe I don't have to go deep I can go a little bit shorter and just make those easy plays in the me nowhere to run on that when he loses four on the car and a great job by the linebacker you can tell starting to crouch the line of scrimmage get up there in the line of scrimmage see it diagnose it get in the back field get the running back on the ground for the tackle for the loss when you've already set your punter out four times at least he knows he's going to get his varsity letter and his leg might get a bigger workout if they don't convert he off one deep down the left side and they can't hook up on the big play and that brings up a fourth down it's so nice when you know it's third and long you know a pass is coming you worked on it all week get your feet set at the sticks understand that quarterback's got to be rushed get him off of his spot nice execution by this defense Tain forced to send out the punt unit they may have to pay him overtime he's punting for the fifth time today he'll settle for some pretty good field position and make the fair catch at around the 35 the Bayou Bengals will run the offense out onto the field they torched this defense with an explosive passing play for a score last time out let's see if they go right back at him well the QB decided to keep it on that one and listen if you had his athleticism you'd want to keep it too almost every time they run these types of option plays but he's just going to have to do a good job of understanding when to hand it off when to pitch it and try to keep this defense on their heels and read his keys he's got a lot of talent just got to make sure he's making the right decisions moving forward turns it on in Midfield got a a lot of Running Room big big gain on that one as he steps out of bounds with a first down well the defense knew coming into this one Reese that this team was going to try to use their speed and take advantage of it and they did right there nice gain on the Run play to the right found plenty of Running Room in that defense they've got to find a way to get there make the tackle in the open field yeah and they got to do a good job with their eyes finding the football and they've got to get a lot of bodies to this guy cuz he is fast throws for the top in got it in the middle it's Taylor and right in the middle of tight coverage and he still makes the grab at the 15 second quarter getting closer to the half offense is still having a lot of success stringing some first downs together defense is going to need to figure something out before they get to halftime LSU with the first and 10 here from the shotgun they'll run it heading to the end zone and he rolls into the house touchdown tiers and what a push up front by this offensive line everyone playing in unison driving out of their stance working into the second level hats on hats creating a lan for that running back [Music] ready to try the point after for the extra point and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and they finished it with a beautiful 15yd Run for the score lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive set to advance on the football looking for an alley from inside his own 10 really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 he'll come out throwing on first down got a in it's Williams didn't pick up a lot there moved it Forward just a few these guys are called matchup guys they're not the biggest guys on the field but they're going to win short and they're going to catch the ball and they're going to make yards after the catch you can tell those are the type of guys in college football that are starting to get maximized and used a lot more than they were in the past Thompson to throw fires to the big fella and he laid the lumber to stop him from getting the first down look you can't take away everything right so you give them that and rally and make a solid tack yeah and a lot of times in zone coverage I like when I can get all the eyes on on the quarterback I like when I can see the routes and see him develop in the middle and you could tell they had keys on the tight end he wasn't going anywhere after he caught that football he got a hand in there knocks it away incomplete inom and I like the aggressiveness on Third and short trying to throw the football take advantage of a look that they got they weren't successful and now it's Fourth and short territory who knows what they're going to do Tain forced to send out the pun unit they're up to a half dozen kicks [Applause] today he gots a block coverage team gets the job done and they'll mark it down at the 38 yd line LSU will dive into the Playbook here on offense out of the shotgun they go to the ground he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple I love this linebacker because he's able to dissect what's happening in front of him and he reacts downhill uses his speed to get to the line of scrimmage and create the negative play after getting knocked back to open this drive it's second and [Applause] 12 it's a draw that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there this offensive line better figure out a plan for this D tackle he is tough to block with one guy you might want to start double teaming him he's going to be a problem moving forward you saw all of his ability on that last they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one third and long and he'll try to throw for it trying to get to him and they can't make the play on third down yeah this offense might want to think about moving the launch point for this QB because if you take hits like that from the pocket it's really tough to complete [Applause] passes LSU will bring the punt team on the field to kick it [Applause] over looking for a block it's fling he'll get it to about the 25 before they put a stop to the return the tan offense headed back onto the field David the punter got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this drive yeah it's not something you want to say very often you don't want the pun there this offense needs to get that lathered up and get a little bit more of a RM to do that identify where your best players are and just get them to football give these guys some touches to Kickstart this [Music] offense they'll snap it on first down from the [Applause] 35 see if they can get the edge on the Jet Sweep help mfield he's got R and he breaks into the open the tag touchdown Green w and once he got loose it was all over that was a lightning fast drive that ends with a touchdown if you can string a few more drives like that together man we might as well get our popcorn out because we're going to get a lot of scor [Music] [Applause] getting set for the point after on for the extra [Applause] point and it's up and good as they draw Just a Touch closer what a display of explosive capabilities on that drive 75 yd two plays and a touchdown air lining up to boot it away K from inside the 10 here he comes he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 theou Bengals will run the offense out onto the field going to the running game he's drop behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three man what a spectacular play by that defensive end to come up with the tackle there and you see those guys get off the football so fast most of these guys are 250 to 275 lbs but they get off the ball fast low and the offensive lineman they have no chance to stop those guys as quick and as fast as they are they knock him down but not before he gets it out to the 21 yd line pick up a four picks up four third down coming if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum looking for a man it's nus Meer throws to the wide out he's got it and they reacted well to the completion but it was too late to keep them from getting the first down when you're a playmaker like this guy is your coaches are going to dial up plays intended for you especially on third down that's what you saw in that last play there was no question where the quarterback was going with that football all week long they decided on the biggest Downs of this game we're going to Target our best player and we're going to make sure that he gets looks it doesn't matter what the coverage is and you saw it right there on that grabed in the back field it's Thomas there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give them a first down and LSU starting to get that passing attack cranked up and this is a unit that typically LSU is as good as they are at quarterback we know they're going to be physical we know they got athletes all over the field but when they get really good quarterback play those teams are really special they'll throw it on first down caught behind the line it's thas and a quick completion an even quicker loss the defense was right there to knock him down they're trying to throw the screen out to the receiver the defense though having none of that they are just is too physical they're too fast they force a negative play second down coming up wide receiver now comes in [Applause] motion caught in the back field it's Thomas and the defense settled in to stop that one for a short gain as an offense you're always going to take completions over incompletions and interceptions so the offense they're able to make that third down a little bit more manageable but honestly not that much third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off from the gun wants to pass right down the middle it's caught down field he's all the way down to the 27 yd line and they are threatening this dude is just exceptional in every facet so fluid such a great route Runner and a big play there and money down third down find him I I mean you want to find that matchup because he's going to win and gets a good release gets down the field you see his that's your playmaker that's your guy get it to him get the first down running back searching for a hole oh what a cut he rumbl all the way down to the 2yd line he gave a little bit of everything on that one and that's the benefit to the Run game keep pounding keep pounding now you break one all the way down to the two yard and don't stop it get down get lined up quick and give it to this dude again to go score a TD so now with first and goal let's see what LSU does [Applause] here they'll try to get it in with the Run they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one maybe that stop shows this defense is tightening up especially in the Run game the offense frankly they've been able to do whatever they want to do they just handed the ball off this guy's having success left and right no sir no Moss get it together and the D deny them on second and goal trying to barge their way in they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one man and that's a frustrating play when you go in reverse near the goal line go to go situations Palmer you got to get those positive yards you can't go backwards if you're trying to get a touchdown you know I'm trusting in my quarterback here to make the right decision looks like we're going to have to throw it right but if it's not open just throw throw this thing away you don't want to take a sack lose extra yardage here reels it in in the end zone touchdown LSU L I don't know exactly what the defensive coverage was but it certainly wasn't part of the plan to leave him that wide open well I I don't think they know what their defensive coverage was either how do you leave that big guy open down here in the Red Zone you know the quarterback loves the big tight ends in this area really poor job by the defense [Music] they'll try to attack one more on their score the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead they marched 79 yds on the drive and they CA the drive with a four yd touchdown pass 14 the kickoff team out there getting set set to kick it away he'll bring it back from inside his SP he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Tain has it back in the offense coming out to go on the attack they are trailing by 10 here Jesse but this is the type of team that seems comfortable in an offensive shootout you got to hold serve at this this point right you got to drive the field put some more points up on the board yeah they just scored you can answer that now and keep this thing close and I think you're used to that as offense like football is so fastpaced now and you score so quickly it's not that big of a deal to get down 10 you keep being you keep being aggressive we've made our way to the two-minute warning and now they'll try to at least cut a little something off of this lead before the [Applause] break let's see what they've got on second down [Applause] Thompson wants to throw and it'll be incomplete this defense is physical and pass deep third a third and long coming up here [Applause] from the gun wants to pass the short hands it's Preston really nice job to get it past the sticks pick up the first down at the 30 even as a defensive guy you use the sideline as your 12th man you push the receiver out that Direction with the wide receiver still doing a great job of getting small getting that foot in bounds making the play and catching the ball offense rushing to the line of scrimmage clock has stopped for the the first down they'll try to get it off quickly he's going to pass pocket starts to collapse grabbed over the middle it's Hughes there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer and a great job by the QB finding the running back getting the football where he can do some damage after the catch and most importantly get the first down it's complete LS are green grass as he gets it to the 31 and a really good job by the quarterback being very decisive he saw his match up he went for it attacked it got the positive game I would say he's going to find that guy a few more times here comes Tain after picking up the first [Applause] down they keep attacking through the air hit hard just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver yeah and you don't see very many qu back hits on screens you know the offense wants to Bluff real quick and make it look like pass and then the quarterback's supposed to pop up look like pass and quickly get rid of you could tell timing all wrong it was all jacked up and that play went absolutely nowhere Thompson to throw going to try to pop one on the screen they make the stop right there good pickup but still short of the first down love the execution there in the screen the running back shows pass protect pass protect last second turns around he's able to get the ball the D lineman have already run past him now he can turn up field for a big Gainer this third down play more than manageable from the 24 can the defense Stand Tall complete to the right and what a throw to get it in there and they've got it in business in the red zone at the 13 there's a Timeout on the field tight game here late in the first half on first down from the 13 yd line on the Red Zone looking for a man and the pass rush is effective and they tackle him at the 19 you can just see the excitement this defense has every play they're almost wishing this quarterback drops back to throw because they know they're going to get home to them that's the sixth time they've registered a sack clock's running and they'll try to get to the line warp speed for second [Applause] [Music] [Applause] down he's looking to throw with the catch it's brown o will stop with this timeout from the offense they'll get a chance to regroup on the sideline so with only seconds left in the half here comes the field goal unit [Music] it is perfect and that'll Trot off to the locker room after the field gooll to close to half [Music] L at the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halftime update thanks so much guys and I need not tell you rivalry games always bring out a ton of emotion and no surprise we saw just that in the first half today each of these two offenses has looked like well-oiled machines but it doesn't take a genius to figure out these two passing attacks have run circles around these defenses man or Zone nothing seems to be working and I'm not sure that defensive coordinator is going to be able to figure things out here at halftime with that let's throw it back to the guys to see how this rivalry matchup plays [Music] out about to start here in the second half Tu will kick it away from inside his own 10 let's see what he gets probably needed to pick up an extra block or two but as it is he'll be stopped at the 28 LSU will dive into the Playbook here on offense if it's working why change it and that running game was working in the first half I imagine we'll see a lot more of it here in the third quarter you just know the offensive line was telling their coordinator put this on us let us continue to go out there push the these guys around we can put this game on our back and end this thing by running the ball and this is a manhood question for this defense like as a defensive lineman and you're pounding the rock pounding the rock like I got to physically rise to this challenge this defense has to play more inspired and More Physical in the second half these little gains can start to add up as he gets it up to the 34 well you got to give the defense a lot of credit on this play because they were doing a nice job understanding who had the football and where they were so a nice job by the defense rally playing around that ball carrier and now not giving up the first down let's see if they keep it on the ground here on third down dropping back it's nus Meer he finds his man they make the stop with this passing game does some damage and they move the sticks with the first down really nice job there by the quarterback understanding that it's Zone coverage on third down you're going to have to find someone working into a soft spot get the ball out of your hands quickly make an accurate throw and pick up the first well done LSU getting set on First and 10 this time they'll go to the running game and a pickup of eight opens a world of opportunities on second and two I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up wear the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points 8- yd pickup on first down leaves them with second and short got it in the middle it's Taylor that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the stop he's showing you his skills on that last throw this guy's got arm talent and accuracy man and some of it it's not coachable I think back to JaMarcus Russell and Joe burrow two former tiger quarterbacks that were the first overall pick in the NFL draft they had some of that too they just had a feel for the position that you simply couldn't coach at the college level this guy man he's got some serious tools and he really helps make this offense dangerous fires to the middle he's got an open man he stopped just short of the goal line at the one an explosive play has him set up and he just continues to put up numbers and that number is now now over 300 this guy just throws completions man the ball doesn't seem to touch the ground he's back there he's making the right reads right now he is locked into what this defense is trying to do quickly complete touchdown LSU made the grab and finished the deal in the end zone now they have extended this lead guys starting to put the hammer but sometimes rivalry game can give you a little of extra fight back and there can be no Panic at this point now you worked too hard this off season David they've had this game circled for so long you've got to play your best football right now and fight back and you just need something good to happen on this next possession you got to get the crowd back into this football game big rivalry get some emotion get some momentum on your side lining up to add another kicker is on for the extra point and the extra point pushes the lead to 14 they marched 72 yds it was capped off by a one yd touchdown pass kickoff team has the ball teed up and they're about ready to go and he takes this from inside the five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the tan offense headed back onto the field this is when the pressure can ramp up a little bit on an offense David when they start feeling the heat to answer a score and I think being down 14 you can kind of feel that way but dude if you put a good drive together this is a seven-point game so Palmer no need to panic I was just going to say David I mean this thing can flip quick you go down score all of a sudden your defense gets a stop or who knows better yet gets a turnover this game is entirely different Thompson wants to throw unloads to the wide out and the pass is in complete thanks to a big hit you want to have a lot of success on defense make the quarterback feel uncomfortable this defense has been doing it time and time again and you can tell this quarterback doesn't have a printer third down and this offense is already in a world of trouble they could really use the conversion not to mention multiple scores from the gun wants to pass and they wanted it all on third down but now dealing with fourth down DB does an outstanding job here on the Deep pass locating the football no Pi able to swat it away pass incomplete Tain forced to send out the punt unit they'll look to P him deep [Applause] he'll call for the fair catch here the Bayou Bengals will run the offense out onto the field this has been exactly the way you draw things up David the offense has really been moving the football and it's been great execution they've done exactly what they've wanted to do build the lead now Palmer's a different animal now you got to protect it you can tell they were paying attention in practice this week and the film room because they have gone out everybody right now on the same page from the 44 yd line the offense snaps it on first [Applause] down got it behind the line it's Daniels they stop him almost immediately short gain there still a little ground to cover pick up the first at the thir second down coming up and now on second down for this offense [Applause] looking for a man it's nus Meer strong pass rush gets to the quarterback and they get him at the 46 on the this defense they are tenacious and they've got guys up front that are athletic and that are so strong and that can collapse the pocket you saw it right there at that play action [Music] [Applause] now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass makes a connection and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play well how about the offense setting that play up we've seen earlier in the game of couple shorter throws they just trying to suck those safeties closer to the line of scrimmage anticipating that they would get an opportunity to take a shot they called the perfect play at the perfect time right [Applause] there going to the ground knowses his way forward maybe gets one they'll mark it at the 18 man that tackle a freak athlete did you see him come out of his stance and beat the offensive lineman getting to the running back catlike quickness didn't get much on first down it's second and nine give to the back and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pick up another good run man he has been picking up yards in bunches today Jesse showing off all the skill and he's showing no signs of slowing down David this guy just gets better as the game goes on he is a beast the Tigers have it in scoring position on first and [Applause] goal they'll try to get it in with the run and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain land you can't let the same guy beat you over and over and over again you got to make adjustments sometimes you got to bring more guys in the Box more guys to the football and make sure he's not the one who beats you defense roll up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming they've got him looking run but they're going to throw it they took a shot at the end zone and he almost picked it off it'll be third down third sometimes as a quarterback when you're feeling a rhythm and you're feeling yourself you just want to keep taking shots right this guy's already thrown three touch down passes he saw a look he liked decided to Let Her Fly haven't seen a lot of balls falling complete especially deep down the field that one did but I'd expect this guy to keep letting it go wants to fire It In The End Zone on Third and goal into the end zone touchdown by you Bangles like a Thanksgiving turkey they're just being car no shot they have no idea how to get in this quarterback's head he's on fire everything he's doing is working defensively we got to figure something out we got to try to do something a little bit different bring more pressure at this R shoot he's on so much fire you might as well just send everybody Blitz everybody live with the results cuz everything else ain't working anyways on to attempt the try kicker on for the extra point and the extra point will tack another one on to this lead that drive covered 62 yds for the touchdown and they closed the deal with the seven Y for the score 1 about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown kick off what kind of field position can he help him with on the return he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Tain has it back in the offense coming out to go on the attack they're down by 21 points but you get a touchdown here and you do at least apply a little game pressure Jesse it's true I think for them to get back in this one at this point now they need the quarterback to play his best football he's going to have to be good really pre- sna David making sure they're in the right looks and he's got to be really good with his decision making he's got to be doubted in because defensively you're given up points so it's not like you have the luxury of your defense playing great the offense is going to have to score and score pretty dang quickly bre completion to the right nice pitch and catch there and they'll have enough for the first down I think this receiver Forte is his route running he's a guy that can line up all over the field but it's not just catching post routs who goes this guy can run shallows he can run Slants he can run the option routes and find soft spots in the defense this guy really has all the routes in his toolbox Thompson to throw unloads to the right complete downfield and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up man this offense is so dangerous fre they've got dudes all over the field that can make plays there's a big gainer in the pass game you get a chunk of yards like that now the defense is really on its heels Here Comes Tain after picking up the first [Applause] down from the gun the give looking for room we've seen a ton of this tonight they just keep giving him the ball and he keeps running into brick walls not much running room again man nowhere to run on that play at all about all you can say is do better but that's the problem are they able to do better and that's why you keep trying things right keep trying trying to get on the perimeter run up the middle try different things to see what you do and he was drilled just as he released the pass it's incomplete all right you dug yourself a little bit of a hole offensively you know you're going to have to throw it here in the second half you're going to have to make sure though you do a better job up front with your pass Pro you got to keep your quarterback standing upright and this offense just can't afford not to get the first down here already trailing big and the clock is not their friend calls it in and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one I love that from this offense three is good you're in field goal range but now we're set up with first and goal because of great third down execution by this offense stay aggressive even when you get in this part of the field when everything shrinks and gets a little bit harder you still want to be aggressive wide receiver coming across in motion quick hitting into round on first and goal he pushes his way down to the four as they get closer and closer well they lined up in a formation that had the whole defense crowded in the middle of the field and then they pop the Jet Sweep on him trying to get to the outside nice scheme offensively they've pushed it ahead to the four they'll try to cash in on second and goal they'll go to the ground and how how about that interior defense stuffing to run for nothing and on offense you know this is four down territory you have to come away with the touchdown you're getting boat raced in this game right now and you're going to have to make this possession count yeah definitely because of the slow start now putting yourself behind the apall I think this offense is going to have to be aggressive the rest of the game wants to throw for it on Third and goal moves away as he feels pressure and he Sprints to the end zone touchdown to Lan got to start cutting into this lead somewhere now the question will they have enough time but that's step one you got to get that first score you got to get back in the ball game and get some of that momentum back on your side you still got more work to do but step one accomplished [Music] lining up for the P exra point right down the boulevard so an 82 yd drive there and they finish it off with the score from the four almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown set to kick it on the run from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 LSU will dive into the Playbook here on offense coming out on first down with the play FV fires to the wide out he's got it and works it to the 40 yd line that'll be a first down well LSU receivers are known for their Swagger and that is Swagger well earned after that one W you go outside and you make plays like listen you have swag you have confidence and you usually get a little bit loud re and like listen feed me the rock so many great LSU receivers in the past and it's because of that swag looking to throw it's nus Meer get it out on the screen they finally get him stopped but what a good job by that front wall to set up the screen and create some Lan for their running back it's a really nice play there the thing about this guy he forces the defense to have to stay disciplined you just can't take a playoff he reminds me of an old LSU quarterback that I used to play against hurt Tyler he was a guy that could hurt you throwing the ball but he was also Shifty and he could extend plays we had a great defense in Florida full of NFL dudes but he just never let you feel comfortable because of his athleticism and his Dynamic ability this guy has a little bit of that too the serious [Applause] the Tigers have it with a first and [Applause] 10 he'll do it himself they'll rip off eight on that play it's second and two this defense really has their hands full guys they got to play with great eye discipline because they don't know who's going to be keeping the football in the Run game and that time you saw the QB he was able to kind of scourge his way to get some positive yards here on second down let's see if they keep it on the [Applause] ground he's looking to throw grabbed behind the line it's Daniels the defense wouldn't let him loose and even though it's a completion they lost yardage third was not holded on that one you know a lot of times you want to buy space and you throw this route really when it's off coverage but you could tell the quarterback was up ready to come pounce on that screen and get tackle for a once they've worked it down to the 30 this defense Standing Tall trying to force a field goal try the throw to the outside is complete and he couldn't quite get to the marker and that's going to bring up a fourth down he has been in SE ball get ball mode all day and he is making his Mark in this rivalry game guys I'll tell you he was sick and tired of reading about hearing about the offense is coming into this one this guy had his own designs and his own plans he has has been balling David all over the field and it's so fun a rivalry game you have so much emotion so much passion well guess what you can luck that out on defense and defense you can fly around make plays and he's been doing it all aen [Music] they're really starting to extend that lead as they get ready to kick it away [Applause] again here he comes from inside his own five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 the duain offense headed back onto the field trailing Now by 17 David this is an opportunity that they need to answer and down by 17 it's not inning yet like I know we just gave up some points and our defense hasn't played great I think this offense can still be who they are and stay consistent no doubt lots of football to go but you do get the feeling this is the time of game where you know it could get bad if you don't score and all of a sudden they get the ball back they take it down the field and put some points up this thing might be over so absolutely this quarterback he wants to drive this offense down the field and at least put something on the B they've got it to the 49 yd line line and they'll move the chains I don't know who on defense is going to cover this guy honestly he could be a problem for this defense over the middle of the field cap [Music] [Applause] passing it'll be a first down from the 49 yd line motion from the [Applause] offense off the play fake on first down to throw grabbed in the middle it's Williams this defense's head is spinning he gets it down to the 27 when your best is demanded on a big stage like this against a rival he has delivered cracking the 150 yd Mark no doubt about it what do we say big time players make big plays in big games the games don't get bigger than this for this team right here and this guy David has shown up today and it's so nice as a coach to have that dude that you know you can count on he'll put up big numbers and he's been carrying this offense and they make the connection and he's got it at the 10 yd line set up with a red zone [Music] opportunity first and goal and this feels like their chance to make a game of it fast motion from the offense keeping it on the ground on first and goal and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that no on the way and talk about spreading the ball around everyone getting a chance to show off the hands based on the number of targets we've seen1 [Music] [Applause] as we start the fourth quarter it'll take a pretty sizeable comeback to win this one defense rolls up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming brought down at the seven after picking up three it's looking like they're going to have to try to throw this one into the end zone here on third down David quarterback's got to be careful can't get greedy cuz you know these windows they close fast St extremely tight Windows find your big body guys that you know can win in contested situations here on third down they'll look to throw on Third and goal fires into the end zone and he's got it touchdown Greenway and that's what I love about empty sets and formations on offense is that when you Sprite the defense out you create bigger Lanes to throw and you you saw it right there [Music] [Music] he'll try to tack on one more exra point and the Pat will draw them one point closer so it's an 80 yd Drive and they close the deal with the seven Y for the [Music] score fiding up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive he'll bring it out from inside his own 10 slips through the line and the return man showing great vision to be able to find some space and put his team in much better field [Applause] position from the gun running back gets to give you want to make sure to maximize those types of runs and he gets it out to the 41 it's a point in the game I think as a coaching staff where you really challenge your offensive line to go win the football game right we've got a lead late we're going to run the football and the defense and everybody in the stadium knows that's what's going to happen can we run the ball down their throats and impose our will that's what this offense right now is trying to do nice side solid form tackle from Miss sophomore third they have it at the 43 third and short trying to avoid making a decision on fourth down looking to throw it's nus Meer and they couldn't hold off the heat and he goes down with a sack how nice is it as a defense when you can drop seven guys in a coverage only Rush four and still get home that makes you feel good if you're the de coordinate looks as if LSU will line up to punt it away they've been busy out there to punt for the fifth time today another punt on the way got to make sure those hammies and glutes all activated don't want any muscle pulls from overuse he only needs a sliver of daylight very little will make a crowd hold its breath like a p turn and he brought them to their feet on that one here comes the speed on the Jet Sweep it's loose and this fumble will squore out of bounds well they got a really nice drive going on on offense they're on their opponent side of the field but you're not going to come away with any points that you turn it over and they've got to do a better job of ball security very very lucky that ball went out of bound and it looks as if they've buzzed down replay wants to have another peek at that last play and you know the standard is indisputable video evidence and the officials will change the call wide out in [Applause] motion off play action on first down and the defense picks up a sack getting the quarterback down at the 44 the defense has been so dominant up front you've seen it in these passing situations that now the seventh sack of the game that is the last thing you want on first down as an offensive sack now it's second down Thompson wants to throw fires deep toward the endzone and swatted down by the defense to stop the scoring opportunity and the defense is playing with and let's hold on just a minute here as the officials are going to have a second look so the officials take a closer look at the replay Booth will overturn the call and with the extra point every little bit counts as they get closer quick strike offense on that three-play scoring drive and they close the deal with the seven Y for the score about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position able to find enough room to get it out across the 25 he's brought down at 26 catch in the middle it's lacy and they finally haul him down but not before the good catch and run and if it ain't broke don't fix it right this is what got this team in this position to win this game aggressive offense taking shots here we are in the fourth quarter they've got the lead Why Stop Now that's the type of explosive play you love to start a drive with first down from the 42 he wants to throw and that incomplete pass caused by the big hit on first down second down coming well that's just a great play by the defender and great timing it was the hit that forced that incompletion this offense has a second down play they'll run it from the gun and the defense makes the stop after a minimal game picks up three it's third [Applause] down got quite a ways to go to keep this drive going it's third down from the 45 dropping back it's nus Meyer using the quick game he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down and you just get the feeling that this defense has to find a way to get off the field and get the football back at this juncture of the game trailing late if they're going to win and the tigers are moving quickly down the field leaves it with the back really nice stop there from this senior leader at this point of the game the offense has the lead the offensive coordinator knows they want to keep running the football so he's going back he's looking at his playlist and he's saying which runs work the best for me in this game what can I lean on right here to make sure we win this one picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down off the bootleg wants to throw it pressure is effective from the defense they knock him down just behind the Midfield stri at the 48 and the defense gets him on the ground for the fourth time today by the way they've pressured him he's still done an unbelievable job making completions but you know what get him on the ground when he's got the ball he can't make something happen keep hitting him keep getting him on the ground this is a third and [Applause] long looking to throw and he needs a chunk play they'll run the screen at the 35 he's got room they play that screen nicely he tried to find find his way to the marker but it'll be fourth down this is one of those unique situations in a game as a head coach you're trying to feel the momentum and what's your confidence in your quarterback because you've got fourth you're in field goal range but you've got the weapons to get one more completion and ice this thing so do you kick the field goal or do you go for it what a disappointment no good it's still a three-point game after the M 41 [Music] Twain has it back in the offense coming out to go on the attack they go to the ground just will his way for a couple out to the 35 second [Music] down picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down hand off to the single running back and you can forget rodnie in the middle against this defense boy there wasn't much room to wiggle for that running back there none at all great job by the defense in the back field quickly closing up all the holes Nowhere to Run they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here on Third and long he has to throw for it that's caught it's Hughes and he's going to be just short of the first down it's going to bring up a decision for this coach that's why as a defense you feel okay playing man coverage on third down because you know you've got linebackers and you've got players on your defense that can cover these dangerous running backs mono Mano nice job tackling on the open field fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair catch the Bayou Bengals will run the offense out onto the field they're going to run it to the right just wanted to find a little space to run and eeks out some to get it up to the 21 they've got a lead here in the fourth quarter and there's certainly still plenty of football to go but this is where you love to control the flow of the game right you want to dictate everything to the defense and you do that by running the football that was a really nice run this offensive line is firing off late looks like they're getting stronger as the game goes on and that is a good sign for the offense got his and he's brought down at the 40 yd line and that'll be a first down such a tough spot to be in on defense because you're trailing You're Expecting the offense to run the football they just did it on the last play and then on a critical third down they go play action and they throw it over your head you got to feel for this [Applause] defense from the shotgun the hand off to the back a confident tough efficient run gets it up to the 44 you got to give the coaching staff credit because they really do Focus all season long on situational football with the lead late in the game if we're on offense we're trying to stay in bounds we're trying to bleed the clock and after ripping off a really nice run that guy knew I've got to get down I cannot get pushed out of bounds cannot get tackled out of bounds really really nice job that run epitomizes a veteran Savvy senior who knows how to find space and this guy really has been a Workhorse today he's made plays when his offense has needed them the most he's a guy who's Rel reliable they know they can turn around give him the football and he'll go make things work out they're going to need him to finish this game he has to continue playing well after that big run there from the gun the running back looking for room he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple well this guy's been eating him alive all game long finally though David you wonder if the defense has been able to make some adjustments find something positive to help slow this guy down hey baby steps right that's a tackle for a loss I know he's got over a hundo on the game but this defense is definitely going to have to be more aggressive commit more guys to stopping that bad man grab behind the line it's Thomas he almost picked up the first down on that one but he'll be just a little bit short that was a really nice catch and an even better run after the grab and get the ball to your playmaker what's good about having him in the slot is he can go either direction you can get him matched up on somebody that's not as fast and you watch he can run away from those linebackers or safeties he'll pull it on the read didn't get much picked up a yard and that will leave them with four and two quarterbacks generally guys we know they're not as big and not as physical Runners as running backs so it is going to be trickier for them to break tackles I like the idea of getting the designed quarterback run game going but moving forward let's see if we can get him out to the pre and now on fourth down they will put it on the shoulders of the kicker to save them with his foot splits the uprights good well that kid just showed off his hammer for a leg 50 plus and he did it with ease [Music] [Music] [Applause] so they're lining up to kick it off after that last Drive put a three spot on the board and now the defense will try to shut him down he'll start the return inside his spot and the returner runs out of real estate as he goes down the twain offense headed back onto the field that last Drive fizzled out Jesse they had to punt it yeah they did and David they're just going to have to do a better job this time around erasing the mental mistakes and just trying to solve the defensive riddle understanding what they're trying to do to you and attack them not what they had in mind to start this drive here comes second and 13 Thompson to throw and the pass is incomplete Jarred Loose by the hit and this is really the story of the game this of defense has no chance in the passing game because they cannot protect the quarterback all game long he's been under duress you got to give the defense ton of credit not exactly the ideal situation for this offense third and long backed up inside their 20 stands in and takes the hit and this is dropped oh my goodness sometimes you're just too open after that incompletion fourth and long now on your own side of the field you're trailing in fourth quarter what's your go-to play call here in the passing game where is the matchup that you trust in to come up with a big one to give yourself a chance to stay alive and win this game so from the shadow of his goal post he gets the punt away not able to pop the big return but they've got the ball back and ready to go with the fresh possession Hows You Will dive into the Playbook here on offense and they've got a little bit of a cushion here David if they can add to it on this drive it would be nice and it definitely makes a little bit of a difference knowing I'm up by more than a field goal obviously Jesse my mindset switches and I know I can't make mistakes yeah and David I don't think they have to reinvent the wheel on offense here what they've been calling has been working just get back to doing what you're good at it's a first and 10 from the 42 yd [Applause] line they try to pop a run on the draw he he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple man A lot of times when you put that linebacker it's about timing you don't show your hand and he gets up to the line of scrimmage gets right through the line makes the tackle for B and as soon as the running back gets the football he's got a face full of linebacker not much you can do there like you got to have a little better block you got to identify that Blitz a little bit faster by the offensive line catch in the middle it's Taylor and he might be known for run fits but that was a sure and heavy tackle on the tight end well a nice completion there finding the tight end and what's so beautiful about that is while they didn't get the first they were able to pick up enough yards now to make the third down manageable really putting this offense in a good position they not only have to deal with this defense but the noise from this crowd on third and four back to pass it's nus Meyer and he just throws it away on third down I don't think you can give up on a play like that that incompletion on Third and short it's going to be an interesting decision for the head coach because I know he believes in his guys to go get it here on fourth down and Pad the lead but if you kick a field goal you make it a two possession game here in the second half and I think that's the right [Applause] decision KN swist the Ypres and puts three on the board you know it's funny in an age where there's so many college football analytics and everybody wants to go for it on fourth down at the end of the day it still comes down to manage it good decision by the head coach here in the fourth quarter by kicking that field goal you've now made it a two- possession game your chances of winning this thing have now gone way [Applause] up so after putting three on the board the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it away from inside the 10 yd line he'll bring it back he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 Twain has it back in the offense coming out to go on the attack to the air on first down gets it out fast and the defense holds SP no pickup at all on that play well that helped the completion for percentage but the idea was yards after the catch and it didn't happen great job on defense too see ball get ball they saw exactly when that ball was spit out you saw the defense [Music] fly on second down wants to throw it how about that play to get a hand in there and force the incompletion well I know that one fell incomplete but what a day this guy has had throwing the football multiple touchdowns and he's done a really nice job with his decision making hasn't thrown any picks which has really helped keep this offense on schedule they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one Thompson wants to throw he's going to fire deep and this is dropped incomplete pass he had a huge gain in his fingers and he couldn't hold on yeah and I think you know the situation as a Defender and you know you're up by a score and you know exact L what's going on with the offense they got to make some big plays here in the fourth quarter nice job playing the Deep ball staying deep and not giving up the big thr on fourth down looking to pass it's incomplete and they desperately needed to keep that drive going and they couldn't make the [Music] connection they'll run it to keep this clock grinding they get him on the ground with this running game imposing it's will 6yd gain down to the 17 on second down let's see if they go right back to the run and put this game on [Applause] Ice the give is to Williams that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible big third down play here if they get a stop you'll see an immediate timeout he's got it on the Run they make the tackle but he's got a fresh set of downs and it's first and goal from the seven quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense LSU lining up first and goal they'll try to get it in with the Run he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense defense roll up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming the run up the middle here looking for a path to the end zone strong firm tackle at this situation in the game now with the lead you know the offense is just going to try and run the football bleed the clock and ice this game if they can get it into the end zone here they can really turn up the heat in this one third and goal they'll give it to the back knock down for the tag here knock down a yd L it's now so here we are on Fourth down and this field goal kicker is going to face all the pressure in the world no good could have stretch the lead out there but guys is still sitting at KN well everybody in the stadium thought that was an automatic three not so fast bad Miss but KCK [Music] the Tain offense headed back onto the field I know the situation looks weak but have we nothing if we don't have hope David amen I mean to keep hope alive pitch this pill around use every second you got make this game Palmer as close as you possibly can crazier things have happened in college football man let's just go find out let's find out where the Playmakers are lined up and see if they can make something positive happen [Music] still at their own 20 after that last incompletion it's second and 10 Thompson to throw he's taking a deep shot late in the game he can't find his man and the clock stopped with 6 seconds left this quarterback desperately wants to make a chunk play but they're going to be deepest the deepest widest the widest he's got to be patient no doubt situational football is probably one of the most underrated untalked about things like understanding the situation I have the lead they have to take shots down the field I'm going to play pass I got to rush the passer I got to keep him he lets it Fly and the pass falls to the ground and the ball game is over L 2 [Music] [Music]
