ROCKSLIDE LEAVES 150 CRUISE PASSENGERS STRANDED IN ALASKA

hi everybody it's Dawn and I hope you're having a fantastic day well some people up in Alaska had an epic adventure including heading to wrong areas Rock slides block trains block highways Etc and possibly not even being able to get back on the cruise ships crazy crazy story also we have another story about passengers up set with the compensation offered when a cruise had a dramatic itinerary change as well as cut short a day early all because of a typhoon heading towards where they're going also one more thing princess in 2026 is going to have eight ships in Alaska and one of them is going to be their newest and biggest ship [Music] so as we all know if you go to Skagway Alaska one of the Premier tourist attractions there is the White Pass Railway that goes up into the Yukon well some passengers were on that train heading up there when all of a sudden once they got to their destination and the train turned around and were on their way back a rock slide happened and and crossed over the tracks blocking their return visit back to Skagway well after much thoughts and talks and radio calls and phone calls buses were sent to pick them up to drive them back the passengers back to Skagway about 150 passengers in all while the four buses arrived they loaded them all up onto the bus and started to head back and lo and behold the Rock slide had covered the road back to Skagway as well when that was discovered the port and safety Bureau in Skagway closed the port completely and now passengers were stuck in Canada they couldn't get back to the Holland America ship they couldn't get back to the princess ship and they were stuck on buses well the decision was made to turn around and drive those buses about six and a six to 6 and 1/2 hour drive a few hundred miles down the road to Hanes Alaska where they would meet up with the ships the ships would head up into that direction to pick them up and shuttle them by water shuttle or Tender if you will so most people took this with really good humor and just looked at it as part of an adventure now by the time they got back to the tenders to get back to the ship people were tired they were dead tired many of them didn't sleep the whole night on the way the drive back Etc there wasn't much to see it was nighttime so it's not like you could see more of Canada and the United States and Alaska but wow talk about timing you know oh the railway track well send him a bus well the road is blocked as well and you have to end up going to an entire thing they're all back on board now everybody's safe and that is the main thing and now they have a story to tell all their friends when they return back to their Hometown speaking of returning back to your hometown imagine going on a cruise it's only 5 days long and three of the ports that you were going to go to are dramatically changed or canceled all together and then you get your found out your cruises well we're not going to continue on this 5-day Cruise we're going to make it a four-day Cruise oh and by the way we're not going to we're going to go to this port instead which is about a 4our train ride from the port you were supposed to get off alt together well this is happening on a Costa Cruise Ship in um Taiwan and the passengers on board were not happy let's put it plain and simple they were not happy many of them were refusing to get off the ship all Gathering up near customer service and everything chanting refund refund re refund give us our money back don't get off the ship until we get our money back meanwhile there's a typhoon which was the cause of all this itinerary change and everything heading towards them and so authorities had to be called in and are basically telling the people look you have a beef with the cruise line you're not happy with the compensation fine bring it up later because right now there's a typhoon coming and you're in Danger get off the ship and the it it this Cruise itself is not something you can book through Costa or anything it was a travel company that chartered The Vessel out there and was running their own cruises well they did pay for the transportation and refund a full day for the money and gave the $100 onboard credit as well for the changes in itinerary and they paid for all the travel and trains to the other port to get people back home so it seems like the agency was trying to do what they could but a lot of passengers did not think that was enough they say the itinerary was too drastically changed and that $100 compensation and one day refund is not enough the company needs to do more what do you guys think they actually didn't have to do anything it's right there in the cruise contract that itineraries can change change especially when there's a typhoon heading towards your cruise port usually they would keep the ship out longer wait for the typhoon to go by and then go back in in this case they went in ahead of time wanted to get out of the way and I guess save some money or something but yeah passengers definitely not happy some people who will be happy princess fans especially if you are a fan of the sun Prince because one of the Premier destinations in the world is Alaska and princess pretty much is like number one in Alaska they always send the most ships and in 2026 they're sending eight ships to Alaska for That season and guess what the brand new Star Princess which launches in 2025 will be that ship it'll be leading the other seven ships it'll be the Prem ship in that area and if you've ever been on the sun princess yet with the closed Dome and the variety of entertainment on board I I think uh I think they're going to have a hit on their hands in Alaska with this cruise ship it does seem suited quite well for Alaska I I think with the indoor pool Etc I think it's going to go over really really well and uh yeah hey if you can go to number one destination in the world you can get on a ship like the brand biggest brand new ship of a cruise line that's always an incentive I know I know Royal Caribbean wishes that they could send an oasis class ship up into Alaska I I I know they wish it would fit up there it just doesn't uh but the princess is large enough and narrow enough to still be able to go and do itineraries up in Alaska so looking forward to that in 2026 let me know what you guys think would you take the sun princess many people haven't been on it yet it's only been in the med but it's coming here soon it comes to Fort Lauderdale in September so be prepared for that there's having a naming ceremony and everything I believe October 10th of that of this year just a a few months away uh something something else is on October 10th oh yeah it's my birthday I wonder if princess is going to invite me to the naming ceremony on my birthday that'd be a nice birthday present well let me know in the comments down below what do you guys think about the compensation offered $100 one day refund getting out of the way of a hurricane was that fair do you think they're not fair and how would you have liked to been on that train that got cut off by a rock slide get on a bus that gets cut off off by a rock slide and now you have to spend 6 and 1 half hours on by bus to get back to your cruise ship good news is at least you get back to your cruise ship and no one was injured well I hope you appreciate this video
