Your World With Neil Cavuto (4:00 P.M) - 09-14-2024 | FOX BREAKING NEWS September 14, 2024

toasy on Trump heading to Nevada with a new tax break pitch Brian yenis on Harris heading to wilbury Pennsylvania with her new Way Forward pitch we'll talk to Harris spokesman in Sams why she chose to expand that pitch in a certain State I'll give you a hint it's Pennsylvania all that and former Trump Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross what he says of the fuss about all of these former Trump officials who are not keen on their former boss getting back to his old job lots to cover everybody I'm Neil Cavuto let's get right to it we want to go to Aisha right now in Al brto Palos Verdes California with uh how things went down for the former president today it was a combination speech and oppressor afterwards but he got into a lot didn't he he did as he always does good afternoon to you Neil good to see you the former president remaining defiant about his performance at this week's debate saying that he won and that he doesn't have any reason to do another debate with his opponent vice president kamla Harris but after this press conference wrapped up he was walking away and I was able to grab him and sort of pull him aside and ask him one more time what would it take for you to do one more debate and he left the door cracked open this time listen to this what would it take to do another debate what would you need want it be I wouldn't need anything I could do it tomorrow would you do it on but I've done two debates everything was crooked in the second one I did great with the debates and I think they've answered everything but maybe if I got in the right mood I don't know right now I'm leading and I'm leading in every single poll on the debates thank you very so there you heard it there maybe if I got in the right mood I don't know right now I'm leading so that was his last answer before he walked away now in this press conference he took a lot of time basically attacking his opponent's home state here in California the policies the Democrats policies he also Neil took a lot of questions about what influence right-wing social media personal personality Laura lomer has on the campaign she's been traveling with him on the trail this week and getting some blowback uh from Republicans conservatives for a tweet saying that the White House would smell like Curry if vice president kamla Harris won well Trump told us that lumer brings a sort of spirit to the campaign uh did not condemn her comments but said this to us watch I don't control Laura Laura has to say what she wants she's a she's a free spirit I don't know what she said but I'll go take a look and I'll put out a statement later on okay so he is now headed to a big fundraiser in the Bay Area as uh he needs to fund raise because he's well behind Harris in campc cash she reported almost $50 million in the first 24 hours following that debate and she raised almost three times as much as him in August leading him by about a 100 million cash on hand and then he heads to Battleground Nevada Las Vegas where he will hold a big rally tonight Neil all right AA thank you very much fair and balance let's go to Brian yanis with Team Harris right now in wilbury Pennsylvania to you my friend Neil good afternoon well vice president kamla Harris she landed this afternoon in Pennsylvania she'll be making two stops in rural parts of the state she started in Johnstown Pennsylvania before she comes over to wilbury Pennsylvania the Harris campaign believes that if they can lessen the margin of victory in rural parts of Pennsylvania which is the vast majority of the counties here that can make all the difference in the race come November now look in in Johnstown Harris shook hands with Folks at the airport as she got off of the plane and she met with voters she also visited a local business she was then asked how is she feeling about the race in Pennsylvania where polls show it's TI I am feeling very good about Pennsylvania because there are a lot of people in Pennsylvania who deserve to be seen and heard that's why I'm here in Johnstown and I will be continuing to travel around the state to make sure that I'm listening as much as we are talking now Harris says she wants another debate she's trying to use her debate performance to build momentum the campaign in the last couple of days has released three new ads using clips from the debate on abortion leadership and her call for National Unity now a new National Reuters isus poll post debate shows that Harris's lead among 1,400 registered voters has increased to 5 Points 47 to 42 over former president Trump this is slightly higher than the four-point lease she had in this poll before the debate the economy Remains the number one issue here in Pennsylvania and to that end the Harris campaign is pushing their new plan for Rural America it promises major federal investment in rural infrastructure lower energy costs and lower grocery costs but the latest Congressional Republican joint economic committee report shows costs are up 19% in Pennsylvania under the Biden Harris Administration this means pennsylvanians are spending $984 more a month on food energy housing compared to 2021 the latest polling also shows Neil that Harris is trailing Trump on the issue of the economy here in Pennsylvania by eight points at this rally I should say they are giving out stickers that say tax the ultra Rich this campaign spending double the amount of money they're spending in any other state to try to convince voters that she is best on the economy some $76 million promised in future advertisements in the Commonwealth Neil Brian thank you very much Brian yenis uh with Team Harris on that Ian Sams is joining us right now the Harris Wells campaign senior spokesman uh good to finally be able to talk to you Ian welcome thanks Dan thanks for having me um let me ask you a little bit about what ARA hosi might have gotten out of President Trump maybe a small crack opening in the door to another debate is it is it your belief that despite his not wanting one maybe he is hinting at one well I thought his uh exact wording was pretty interesting he said uh if he's in the right mood uh he might do a debate he seems awfully Moody I don't know if he's just working through his feelings after Tuesday night but as the vice president has said you know the American people deserve a second debate they deserve to see the choice in this election between KLA Harris in a proposed Vision that brings the country forward and turns the page on the chaotic division of Donald Trump and is offering real plans whether it's grocery costs housing costs the things your reporter just talked about that she's put forward to take those things on or do we go back to Donald Trump and his show that he likes to put on that is very dependent on his mood but with an agenda that's pretty scary more tax cuts for those at the very top taking away our freedoms whether it's reproductive freedoms voting rights things like that that's the choice that people get to see on stage in a debate and so she thinks that the American people deserve another one uh and I guess we'll see if um president Trump's mood changes to allow him to do that you know there does you talk about the tax cuts that the former president wants to extend of course uh kamla Harris isn't a stranger to wering incentives as well uh you know for tax relief maybe will extend not only to service workers and income tips and all it could go to Social Security and the rest do you guys worry back and forth that you're you know driving us into into debt with plans like that both sides $5 trillion for Donald Trump close to $2 trillion for you guys well I you just kind of hit the nail on the head independent economists have come out and said that President Trump would be way worse for the deficit and debt than president Harris would be and so trillions of dollars right it's still trillions of dollars right when it when it comes to to people who care about the debt and deficit I think that they want to see that people are willing to raise the revenues to pay for their plans and I think with vice president Harris she's put forward a suite of proposals to make sure that we have the right revenues to help pay for some of her proposals uh you know for example uh talking about making sure that billionaires pay a minimum tax talking about quadrupling tax we don't get there right right isn't isn't that the problem where we don't really get the deficits has not it's increased by trillions but go ahead I'm sorry that's okay and then uh you know if we can put forward a suite of proposals that help in in Foster Real econom ecomic growth that's also going to help and when you look at the two candidates who are running for example vice president Harris has put forward just a couple weeks ago real plan for growing small businesses in this country you know right now if you want to start a small business in America it cost about 40,000 bucks to get off the ground but our tax code only allows a deduction for those people of $5,000 she wants to make it $50,000 so that we can actually help those small businesses grow and they can create jobs and that can create revenues in local communities you know these are the kinds of investments in in real working America that she's proposing whereas again president Trump an independent Economist you moody and uh Nobel prize winning economists have said that his plan would be an inflation bomb you know he's offering plans that are completely all over the place and would actually explode this issue and make it worse because as we know when he was president last time the debt increased significantly more than it did under democratic presidents and so I think if you're a voter out there in this country who cares about the debt and deficit there's only one candidate who even remotely comes close to offering forward a plan to take that on all right you'll be surprised the other side says just the opposite but even let me ask you this I'm just curious because I hadn't had a chance to talk to you post the debate uh I made no secret of the fact that I thought I thought you're you're candidate one hands down in fact convincingly so but uh you do hear from the Trump people that she got your candidate got differential treatment she was not interrupted or fact checked nearly as much as Donald Trump was and I've heard heard some of your surrogates and her surrogates say well that's because his Whoppers were bigger I I I I I I'm just curious were you surprised the moderators did not interrupt her or fact check her to the degree they did Donald Trump in the end I mean you go into this meticulously planning things right that had to surprise you somewhat well the funny thing about factchecking is it only really is relevant when you're telling lies and the vice president wasn't really telling lies on stage and uh president Trump was and so in order to be able to there were some there were some many Whoppers in there there were no no you're right there were some many Whoppers in there compared to you know allowing you know the killing of infants after they're born and going back to the cat and dog eating thing those are Whoppers you're quite right but there were some areas where she stretched it and no one bothered to to go after about no combat going on around the world involving us servic or what was going on and the preference for dealing with what she was doing at the border and her you know obviously observation around that but but it it just didn't seem balanced in that respect well it's it's also quite telling of a candidate who's complaining about the moderators uh how he performed in the debate you know I think ABC did a good job I think that they ran a a tidy debate I think that it allowed the American people to see the Clear Choice between the two candidates and uh boy oh boy did they get to see a choice between someone who was focused you think of that yeah but did that surprise you Ian that he did take the bait and that it was planned that you would throw this out there that she would throw out the crowd sizes at his rallies knowing that would irk him and maybe the only surprise was despite the fact he was advised not to lose his cool he did did you expect that to happen you know look I think that uh Donald Trump's team and and uh and his and himself were signaling that he might be a more disciplined candidate and I think it's just not in his nature he's uncontrollable and so uh he clearly is uh provoked when he's called out for his own record and his own lies he's also provoked when he uh the vice president decides to provide the truth to the American people uh about some of his his bombastic claims and hyperbolic claims including about his crowd sizes and so these are the kinds of things that we're used to seeing from Donald Trump he's not really focused on real issues that people care about he's only focused about himself and wanting to talk about himself and offend himself and lash out at people who criticize him and I think it really is emblematic of what we would see if Donald Trump gets elected to the White House again which is someone who's going to be completely unrestrained especially now that the Supreme Court has said he can get away with whatever he wants um it's not quite what the Supreme Court said but let me ask you a little bit about the whole crowd siiz thing I mean you know the former president might might stretch certain truths a little far but when it comes to crowds and his rallies he does pack them in I think you would have to admit that and his Crowds Are significantly bigger than than kamla Harris's crowds I would you acknowledge at least that much I'm not sure if you've been watching crowds uh in rallies over the last couple months and I don't think that's the case I think we've seen a lot of people who are wandering off in the middle of his 45 minute long rants about electric sharks and Hannibal Lecter whereas the vice president's packing I see some people leaving and I do see some people even when I watch these things I would hard say it's a significant number any more than those who might wander out of a Kam house rally I guess I'm wondering would you at least on that say uh say what you will of the former president he can pack them in he used to you know he's he's a he's a faded image of his former self I think in 2016 you know he had a lot more excitement a lot more people showing up I think now you know we're on season nine of this show and maybe they've lost the plot a little bit and I think would prefer a new set of characters all right well we can argue over numbers and all of that but he doesn't seem to have any problem of getting people to come up to venues hours sometimes a day ahead of an event but having said that what is your take on on a candidate now I know she has spoken I believe to a Philadelphia area reporter today uh so that that seemed to be the first sign that maybe she's engaging in more in more interviews but the the the reputation or the rap she has right now is she doesn't want to do that and maybe that's the campaign strategy to avoid void uh exchanges like that I'm just wondering why given her debate performance she seemed pretty on message whether people like that message or not she was articulate fast on her feet very prosecutorial so she seems to be able to handle herself so why not more media interviews it's a it's a it's a funny question because as you just said she literally did a media interview about an hour ago and so U you know she talked to one of the top anchors and the top station in Phil phelia obviously Pennsylvania is a critical Battleground State decided by just 80,000 votes four years ago you're going to see the vice president continue to talk to the Press continue to engage with the media and do interviews it's part of this campaign I think that people are tuning in now that we've gotten through the first debate to really see what these candidates have to offer she's going to continue to engage with the media I think it's interesting because president Trump for example you know I know he likes to hang out in prime time on this network and do Twitter spaces with Elon Musk but don't see him uh very often sitting down taking tough questions uh from mainstream reporters like yourself and so he he just did a conference today he just did a press conference today so he does you know Embrace and go with the press and all of that and he's open to these you know extemporaneous exchanges with now many people might criticize how he goes about that but he does it a lot more than your cada right oh she also just about 20 minutes ago stood in uh uh outside side of inside of a store and took questions from the reporters who were with her and so you know again this is part of a campaign she's going to continue to engage with the media and press you know president Trump I guess will continue sort of doing 45 minute long rants at a Podium with reporters sitting there wondering what he's talking about uh but we'll continue to engage with the media and share her vision for the country and why she's running and what her priorities would be as president now I know you alluded to it in the beginning and and I don't want to misquote you but you know obviously her strategy is to make where the rich pay their fair share I believe you know there's this idea of a minimum tax for the very wealthy for corporations uh but I am curious what you think what she thinks is is a fair share uh and and and getting outside the billion air Community because they're they rarified air we used to have a top income tax rate of 90% in this country then it was in the 70% then it LO loow in the 50s per it it's been dancing in and around 37 39 around 40 SCS what what should that top rate be if that if that includes the rich should that rate be significantly higher and what would it be well again I was talking about the suite of proposals that she has including the corporate tax rate which she says should be 28% we talked about capital gains taxes last week when we were talking about our small business plan for example you have a situation where President Biden proposed increasing the top capital gains tax rate all the way up to about 40% the vice president thinks that's a little too high she's proposed it being at 28% as well so that we continue to have the ability for our tax code to reward investment in entrepreneurs and small businesses across what would make it a fair share if these guys are getting away with not paying their taxes in I I don't want to be obnoxious about it what would it be because it's always they're not paying their fair share they're not doing what they should and for those 100 or so billionaires who might be paying a very low rate if a rate at all I mean what is it for the wealthy however defined with a top rate that that is now around 37 38% what what should it be well Neil I'm again I'm explaining the suite of proposals that she has including a billionaire minimum tax including expanding fourfold the stock buyback taxes there's a suite of different options at our disposal here to ensure that those people at the top are paying their fair share in taxes because a lot of them get away from the normal income tax rate and income tax code through the loopholes that we have in our system and so I understand what you're asking but it's it's a bigger and more complicated picture than that to take across all of these different issues across all these different types of tax giveaways and tax loopholes that exist to ensure that in all of them we are actually implementing A system that does hold them accountable and does Ensure tax fairness while also like I said on capital gains having an incentive so that people can continue to invest in the entrepreneurship that makes this country great and so she is going to but if you keep raising that capital gain if you keep raising that capital G tax they're going to be less inclined to to to take those here I am Neil on Fox News I thought maybe that people would say well President Biden proposed going all the way up to 40% and she's proposing going to 28% you know I I think that again we have to understand that this is someone who sees that they're that we can do both we can both have tax fairness and we can use the tax code to incentivize the kind of investment that really does help the economy and so that's the approach that she's taking this campaign and she'll continue talking about that well again we' certainly appreciate you're coming here and answering those questions or trying to give us a better idea where you're coming from uh be well I appreciate you having me Neil all right uh Ian Sams on all of that we've got a lot more coming up white Wilbur Ross is weighing in what his former boss had to say at that debate and his concerns about a debate he warned the former president about we to the former Commerce Secretary is coming up all right a fair in Bal that we talked to a top uh Harris campaign uh spokesperson it is time to go to the former Commerce Secretary of the United States Wilber Ross he has a great book out but I did have the opportunity to ask him about his boss's performance in that big debate he was preent on some of his warnings for Donald Trump take a look debates are actually more about style than about substance and particularly when the moderators in the debate were very one-sided against Trump and for Harris you could see it in the way they fact checked everything he said very little that she said but presidency is not mostly about style presidency is about substance and the substance of Donald Trump is we had very low inflation when he was President we had very low unemployment when he was president and we had relative peace throughout the world when he was he never did any of that right Wilbur he never did and it was it's you very pressy in a very low-key way which I've always admired about you you don't there's no histrionics or drama to you but I caught a radio interview you did I believe on WABC where you said ahead of that debate that uh the only danger is Trump being big and strong and a man he has to be careful not to be seen as piling on a woman she baited him and that's what created the piling on and and it almost seemed as if you saw that coming well again it was a very clever move on her part but this is not auditioning to play the role of President this is auditioning to be the president she has no record of achievement she doesn't even really have detailed plans except spend a lot more and raise taxes on people it's not a he didn't do any of that right Wilbur I and you know you don't want to belor as you said it's done it's over it's not more debates but but he missed a clear opportunity and and it it revealed an aspect of him uh and you heard about K Harrison the 200 former Administration officials of his who don't want him back in the White House you're certainly not among those I understand and there are many many more who dispute what they're doing and saying about their form of Boss but that he's thin skinned and a little hot-headed and uh you know a danger what did you make of all that post debate talk well I think it was unfortunate and I I wish it had not occurred but I don't think it's the end of the Earth because I think Americans know what the regime was like when Trump was President they know that they were relatively better off under Trump than they have been since and and a lot of play acting and a lot of baiting that's a nice debating tactic but substance is what's really going to count for the American public over the next four years and I didn't see what she came up with that was substantive let me get your take on where things stand now the former president is going to outline some additional tax cuts he wants to to see of course he's already on record uh now saying that he doesn't want tax Security benefits doesn't now extend that to overtime workers that they shouldn't be taxed on that overtime work uh you know uh those who rely on tip income and no tax on tips and all how do we pay for all of this well the only way we're ever going to get the deficit down is to grow rapidly if this economy can be made to grow at something like 4% or so then the deficits will go down everything will be better off the problem with the what the Democrats are doing is nothing there that will stimulate the economy under Trump the economy was very good and we were starting to get more participation in the labor force well there are only three things that are the components of growth in an economy like ours one is the change in amount of people in the working age population no pres can change that much it's pretty well been set by the birth rate second is labor force participation and that's going nowhere under these people so the third so that's a negative the third thing is productivity and all this kind of spending that they're doing has nothing to do with productivity so I don't see how they can grow the economy enough to survive with the growing debt burden the only way to make it survive is a really increase Workforce participation and Trump was doing that we were accomplishing it right now over a third of able-bodied working age Americans neither have a job nor want one that's not how you build a country and you are worried about debt right Wilbur you are worried about that and this Wharton study that's been done says that his plan is going to add5 trillion to it hers a little under I believe one and a half trillion um now those numbers probably were aren't worth the paper they're printed on but neither candidate seems to be very worried about the debt does that body well I I know from my personal experience with Trump that he understands that the way to get the economy to be able to live with debt burden is rapid growth and that's what he's aiming toward her programs taxing successful people taxing successful businesses is is not the way to stimulate but the worst thing is they will be more and more regulation and when we were in office when businessmen would come to see me they were much more grateful for regulatory reform than they were even for the tax cuts that President Trump put in all right Wilbert Ross the uh former Commerce Secretary of the United States we don't know what role he might play in a potential uh returning Trump Administration probably too early to talk about that sort of stuff but it is out there in the meantime uh The Fallout from a lot of this and who's right when it comes to all of these spending initiatives and plans well count Steve balber the former CEO of Microsoft one of the world's richest men is worried about both side spending money and driving us into debt and no one seems to care he's worried about that Ken Fischer though has a different view on things uh he's not going to get KNE deep in debt and the matters like that he is likely to talk about the markets continuing their incredible surge five straight days now for the S&P 500 and going up up up and away obviously the conditions that he predicted when everyone was talking recession at Pand out can Fisher on that Steve bomber on debt and the campaign race and a lot more at the [Music] this asalam alikum Nazar welcome back to my channel explanation [Music] page number 188 to 189 disc [Music] low
