come this far we want to be legendary here we got Colorado State coming in this weekend this is week one for us this is a good opportunity we've got a a former Texas coach uh in Jay norell coaching them coming in with a uh an Air Raid Offense which is phenomenal to me that their offensive coordinator is running an Air Raid Offense when you consider that the guy that created it slept with his mom so I'm he's pretty Progressive guy we've got a lot going on and I think it's great that we have this opportunity so what we're going to do today is we're going to talk about uh some things that we should be looking for in this game what kind of recruits we have coming in there's a little bit of team news I want to go ahead and promo another show that's going to be inside the program that is coming a little bit later that's going to have all the the Vital Information that you're going to need prior to the game and then uh we're going to get into our picks so I want all of us to just take a second here take a deep little breath and thank our sponsor for this video before we get into it I'm just gonna say guys you probably need a fiduciary financial adviser and I've got the guy for you his name is David mclen with Forum Financial he works broadly and deeply with his clients as a financial life coach and he should know something about coaching because he won several national championships as a swimmer for the University of Texas he specializes in financial planning and has contributed numerous articles to Kipling on the topic of retirement tax bombs so contact David today to be your fiduciary financial planner and schedule a one-hour consultation to assess your financial situations the free consultation is available so just give him a call the number is 312 93388 23 that's 312 93388 23 his email is also in the description below Texas is almost always going to have recruits in town at some point or another right we have those big weekends we have those smaller weekends um but there's obviously some really big news we want to talk about and um well why don't you just share that with the folks what's going on we've got a a major a major component to the offense is is now uh in the fold as it were yeah you know last week Texas had a fivar week in a sense they land big big Nick Brooks big fourstar out of Georgia and then they snagged Jonah Williams number one safety out of Galveston ball and then another five star in the mix and what we were calling five star August Jamie French uh of the Mandarin High School frenches he's out of Jacksonville Florida um this is a great get guys listen uh just a great a great athlete but really A a raw receiver with so many ball skills 61 about 185 uh former Alabama commit chose Texas over LSU and Miami and and a host of other Schools Ohio state was was definitely pushing there at some point um it just shows that even when fans are panicking in July about a top 15 recruiting ranking it there it gets better you just have to be patient Sark plays that long game which we talk about a lot and only within three weeks now they're hovering around a top five class and this just goes to show show trust us when we tell you good things will happen you got to trust Sark you got to trust this recruiting staff I think they do a phenomenal job especially after taking a couple bad beats in July Jamie French is huge because this is a kid that I think can come in and make an impact uh this is a guy he's the second receiver in the class there's only two five stars in this class uh and and which will allude to potentially a third coming up here in in just a minute but hey this is big Jamie French was coveted by everybody I think this allows Texas to go even more into Florida and and kind of plant a flag there they had been doing that for the last two cycles anyway continue to go there for those athletes because they are tremendous in that state I I I love this I love this guy and listen if you've ever talked to Jamie French he is one of the most delightful kids you're going to meet in the recruitment game he is really positive he's Savvy he understands his value and he doesn't put himself above others he's the anti-diva when it comes to wide receivers and recruiting a lot of times I just love this pick give Chris Jackson a ton of credit Sark and also KJ Lacy khik locket this was a village type recruitment where they got this guy Eric where does the offense go after this I mean this is a are we done I mean I I hate to say that going into you know August but where where are we in the offensive side of the ball in recruiting well I mean there's always the possibility of a late development but they should be mostly done on offense other than you know they're still working on Michael Terry uh San Antonio Alamo Heights uh athlete um he's an offensive athlete don't have doesn't necessarily have a specific position he could be viewed as a third receiver a tight end just an offensive weapon um I think that you know there's a good chance they done at wide receiver but they tend to get a little greedy at on offensive skill players so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a late development at the position maybe they round into form again on kelan Johnson uh to Nook Hines uh you know you never know what's going to happen but I think for the most part they've got five offensive linemen two running backs quarterback back two tight ends uh keeping the guys in the fold is the big part um keep their options open late two festar wide receivers you don't really need much after that because the roster is pretty full you can always go to the portal if you absolutely have to um they're mostly done on offense now you know we'll have plenty of time to talk about the defense there's a lot of work left to do over there when just moving over now to this game that we've got coming up here Ian what and I know that you and Paul had the opportunity to talk about this obviously more in depth in the Deep dive and I I encourage everybody to check that out but just on a just obviously everybody's excited to see the offense play everybody's excited to see what what's going to happen this year this is the first time we're getting a look at this team against proper competition so I'm sitting at home what are a couple things that I need to be looking at to make sure that I can convince my friends that I'm smarter than they are I think number one the one that's going to be uh really popular around the couch around the dip is uh Quinn's footwork if you see now you may or may not know what it should look like but if it looks fairly rhythmic and his timing looks right and he's hitting throws down the field hitting guys in stride that's going to be a very very good sign um in the last couple years a lot of his best throws have been like off platform on the move maybe kind of flicking it sidearm and hitting a guy on the run which is great great a lot of guys can't do the things he can do but he really needs to improve in just the basic drop hit the top of the drop be relasing it on time and hitting a guy down the field if he does that gonna be a great season that's something that anyone can kind of convince themselves they can see at least and then they'll be happy and then the dip and all that um I I didn't write about this one but I'm just going to sneak it in Michael ker in the punt game if he's a little bit shaky he doesn't just hit a booming kick maybe don't panic but it's just something to watch this freshman kicker he's going to have to go into Ann Arbor and uh fville and College Station this year and kick important punts probably and then I I've just got you know the linebackers how well they cover this air raid stuff this was a problem last year Anthony Hill was out there just because he made plays he barely knew what he was doing how does he look a year later what is Colorado State going to try to throw at Texas in this game how are they how did how have they evaluated and scouted Texas this offseason what do they see as the big risks in playing Texas are they going to wildly overplay the Run are they going to wildly overplay the Deep pass and then whichever of those they choose what does it look like what does Texas's response look like do they just punch him out anyway do they look a little bit thrown off um those are those are the I three things that I wrote about plus an extra thing you got to watch for Michael Kern and just see the puning could be such a big deal at some point in the season I'll put the same question to you uh Eric is there anything in particular I know that that Paul certainly in the certainly in his annual preview he was talking about the middle of the field on the defense you know we're going up against what what could be an NFL caliber wide receiver uh in Horton uh Nicolosi the quarterback very good quarterback good college quarterback certainly not a great college quarterback very competent in this system what what are some of the things that maybe we want to be seeing on the defensive side of the ball I know that throughout the entire offseason run fits were a concern for you just making sure that they they got those in play but where are you now with that and and what are a couple things that we can look for uh over the proverbial Ian booy dip yeah next week will be the one to check run fits not this week and you know when you have a team over match you want to see what their strength is and see how you match up against their strength maybe there's one thing that can actually test you and I think they have a pretty solid group of wide receivers everybody knows Horton is the is their stud but the other guys are good too they can they can relieve pressure from them um if they focus too much attention on Horton they can hurt you um but yeah we heard a lot of good things about the secondary um just on paper you can tell the secondary should be better than last year um improved IQ improved athleticism approved really improved across the board and then also good depth uh I want to see it with my own eyes against a a competent passing attack and a and a quarterback who can make a lot of difficult throws he's got a strong arm um but I also want to see them punish him for his decision- making he he threw a lot of interceptions last year I think 16 of them um had a lot of multiple interception games uh his coming out party was against Colorado for his three touchdowns but he had three interceptions that game as well I want to see Texas punish what's going to end up being a good passing game and they've got a good offensive line a decent offensive line not good relative to Texas but at least one you want to see Texas get pressure against that offensive line Justin and we talked about this a little bit before the show and and even in the intro here the idea of that we get to root for kids right that we've been following throughout this is there is there a player in particular that you're like I'm really excited to see this this kid on the field maybe this is the first time they're going to be you know running on DKR this weekend is there anybody that just comes to mind with that question oh yeah I got I'll give you one on both sides both both sides of the sideline um Ryan Wingo I mean if you're not excited to see what this guy looks like flashing number five I I don't know what to tell you um after all the spring reports after all the summer workouts this kid has asserted himself in this wide receiver room he has earned the respect of these quarterbacks and most noted will be Steve sarkeesian and so I I'm I'm really excited to see what Ryan Wingo looks like I'm actually kind of excited to see what Kobe black looks like just had a lot of personal stake in that one saw him a ton of times on my trips to Waco and then on the other side of the field I'm curious about Amman Winfield uh that's a kid out of louv Texas he was sark's very first commitment what when when he took the job at Texas and so he had had a run at Baylor didn't work out I caught up with him this Summer he he looks fantastic he's a good kid that that really deserves a lot of good stuff and I I think he's going to have an extra itch on Saturday in this game uh he'll be more geared up for this one than probably any of the other games on the ram schedule this year but I'm curious because like Eric said sometimes these kids go to other schools but we still enjoyed getting to know them we still have relationships with some of them we still know them very well and so I'd like to see Armani do a little bit in uh in in garbage time I don't want to see him making any plays that factor into the end of the game but uh let's let him have some love where do you see this going and we'll start with you Eric then we'll go to Justin and Ian if you wouldn't mind obviously your picks and then what do you think the final score is going to be so people at home can use your information to you know to bet money and maybe lose their homes yeah well I mean it's it's hard to know with with SAR s Paul wrote a really good article yesterday people need to go read that uh inside texas.com uh you know kind of discussing how it's hard to know which way to go on Sark because he's he wants to control the game but he he also wants to score points um he wants to exert game game control he doesn't care about covering uh at Texas he just cares about you know dominating them uh in ways that don't always show up on the on the on the scoreboard uh but in ways that you know it was a convincing win I think it's going to be a convincing win but I don't think that they're going to have the the all gas like uh like he's the slogan is I think the slogan is the Mis number for Texas felt that for a long time U I'll pick 4113 they're not going to cover but I think it's going to be dominating um we'll see fans will probably be upset if it if it's not a halftime blowout I remember last year struggled versus rice pass the the pass protection was poor against rice and then they came out and look like a brand new team against uh Alabama hopefully fans don't lose sight of that if they get off to a slow start but give me 4113 Texas win and I think they're going to empty out the bench relatively early yeah um I like the horns but I just don't know if they're going to cover uh you know they're not a big cover team earlier in the season um Drew Kelson our our resident Texas X that really just brings it every time we do a YouTube show um he mentioned about the first half would probably be a better safer bet than actually the to you know the total game the Total Line uh but I do like Texas obviously I I think they're going to come out hot and heavy uh I think we're going to see a good dose of arch Manning in the backups in the second half uh give me the horns I think they're going to win 40 I I think with an air raid team and and and a mummy in in the mix they're always going to sneak in a few scores so give me give me Texas to win 40 17 um good momentum but the biggest key everybody's gonna come out of that game healthy ready for the Wolverines in week two you know I'm gonna say 48-21 I think maybe Texas slips in a late touchdown as well with h Arch hitting Wingo or Weisner getting loose or something like that maybe even you know maybe they put in Matthew golden to return a punt and get a a touchdown that way something like that but then I'm with I'm with Justin that I bet Colorado state is just gonna keep throwing and throwing and they may get some touchdowns late even if Texas is in control of the game I I don't think that Texas pulls away necessarily to win 48 to 21 I think maybe uh Colorado State adds a touchdown or two deep in the second half they have some players if it's if it's interest for a while and Texas needs to get deep into the second or third quarter before they really start to pull away that wouldn't totally shock me either yeah I definitely see this uh they're going to score some points I I have them I have Colorado State State scoring around 21 very similar thing just I think late in the game they may sneak some stuff in but um having this offense I again the rotations early in the game are really interesting to me you know sarcus said he's going to try to play everybody he can and I I believe him when he says that um and I think that was also the plan last year but they they were in just so many close games that they probably shouldn't have been close and didn't get the opportunity to get those guys in and I want to talk a little bit about some of the other games that are going on Ian and I got the opportunity to talk earlier this week H and I asked him and it was a mistake on my part I asked him how he thought U would do um he gave me a three- hour answer but I was able to condense it uh into about a minute 20 all I had to do was take out the pauses all right this week opening game for the Oklahoma they are facing the Temple Owls now I'm not going to say that Oklahoma is going to lose this game necessarily they are 43 and a half Point favorites now this looks on the surface like an easy win for the Sooners but just keep an eye on on a few weaknesses that could they could crop up for the Sooners number one this is going to be Jackson Arnold's second ever start as a Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold has had a bit of an interception problem thus far in his Oklahoma career he likes to hold the ball likes to be sure of what he's seeing has a great arm throws lasers once he knows where he wants to throw it if he takes too long you see guys drop into the passing Windows you see pass rush get to him his line is beat up we don't know if his tackles are healthy we don't know if his Center is healthy might stand Raiden have a little something for him on the defensive line in the pass rush I don't know neither do you might as well hope for the best Oklahoma gets down early with a couple of turnovers and all of a sudden they're in an SMU situation where they're hanging on for dear life in week one ninthly Oklahoma's defense they're going to be amazing they're going to be elite this season right maybe maybe they've just been feasting on their unbeat up offense all of fall camp in Spring Oklahoma likely winners this week I'm not going to say they're going to lose but let's just say maybe it'll be [Music] interesting Ian you are quite possibly the most popular analyst uh at inside Texas with the Oklahoma supporters um this this should be an easy game for them and that you're just still finding hate and I good for you I mean it's objective hate and I appreciate all of that is there anything you'd like to add to that I mean that was a very long discussion we had is there any any other tips or bit oh okay great you feel good about it all right okay void out the uh we have uh some really fun games this weekend in addition to Texas we've got obviously LSU USC we've got A&M Notre Dame and then we've obviously got Clemson and Georgia so those are those are some I mean it's a great honestly this is just a really great way to start the weekend Eric outside of the Texas game is there is there one of those games that you're really interested in um yeah A&M gotta know you got to realize what kind of trash talking we're going to need to put up with them on the Internet this year um I like LSU and uh USC Sunday night it's the only game get to focus on that Georgia Clemson I'll have on while we're doing the pregame you have it on in the background looking forward to that um Miami Florida I don't care about that game at all unless you know we'll worry about Florida later in the year when they when they crater and see if Texas needs to pick over the carcass and pull out any uh recruits out of that class but um yeah I mean always have to know what Aggies are up to because there's there's always recruiting implications yeah well Miami Florida that that's the two Live Crew bowl and so I think the title is actually G to be better than the actual game uh per se uh I like I'm with Eric I like Notre Dame in Texas A&M I like Texas A&M to win big actually uh I don't think Notre Dame has the offensive skill guy that they've had over the last few years they got a couple of good young running backs but you know at the end of the day I I'm just I I'm not I I don't think there's a lot there for Notre Dame and I think A&M I think A&M has uh Conor Wegman back and I think they've got a lot of optimism within in the Mikel coera and so I think A&M actually I know A&M should handle Notre Dame if A&M doesn't blow out Notre Dame something went horribly wrong in College Station that should be uh that shouldn't even be close if it is close uh the era is probably off to a terrible start Ian any uh any of those games you're excited about Justin channeling Yours Truly there with that one I think I've been taught well yeah I've I've taught I've taught him everything he needs def definitely those games a couple others that I think are interesting are uh pin State at West Virginia y yes Paul was reminding me that pin State rushed a quick touchdown at the end of the game last year to cover and Neil Brown the West Virginia football coach did not like it he's got his quarterback back he's got a couple NFL linemen back um they are a scrappy Bunch they get to play him in Morgantown always sell James Franklin at least in terms of cover or not so I think that one's interesting and then uh uscl LSU feel like only one of those teams can be a true playoff Contender and it's probably the whoever wins that game one of the biggest financial decisions you'll ever make in your life is the purchase of a home or the refinance of an existing home and you the right person on your team that person is Gabe winow he is a lifetime Longhorn a huge supporter of inside Texas and Longhorn uh nation and you can reach him at 83255 71095 why Gabe over 20 years in the industry he has a law degree he's fantastic at what he does and he loves creating solutions for his clients give him a call if he's not your first call make darn sure he's your last call and you'll find out why so many Longhorns have raved about the service that he provides it's a great weekend I'm glad we have the opportunity to do it with you guys it's going to be a lot of fun we've got uh pregame starting up so be sure to like And subscribe to this TB hit that little bell in the corner so you know when we're
