the Rocky Mountains provide the backdrop in Boulder Colorado and if you're looking for the Buffalo they ain't hard to find we've got a sensational matchup for you fans have been filing in and getting ready for this game as we'll see the sharks taking on a team from the Big 12 the Colorado buffalos glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm Reese Davis David poock and Jesse Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to Tee It [Music] Up e e e e the Sharks will put total leather and we'll get started if you can do that I don't know why you don't do it every time reduce the rist banged it out of the back of the end zone they'll put it in play at the 25 so the Colorado Buffalo's offense takes the field and there he is The Man David that they build this entire attack around and it's so nice to have a guy that makes everything easy for the people around him the quarterback plays better because the feature is clear who that is and we all hold our breath every time this guy touches the football he's able to take it the distance on any given play and they are looking for a ball play that'll work now facing second and long from the 19 grabbed behind the line it's Hunter at the 35 he's got Ro a huge gain on that one before he ran out of bounds and he has the first down and as a defense how scary is it having to defend this guy he's one of the fastest players in America and you saw it on that last play it's not necessarily throwing him the ball over your head they just get it to him quickly the hard part now is running and tackling that guy not easy to do hand off to the single running back as college football involves guys and players have more rights and they capitalize on name image and likeness and teams are in different conferences maybe the biggest thing and the thing that keeps coaches up at night dealing with the transfer portal because they got to make sure that everybody in their locker room is Happy often times you're re-recruiting your own players and trying to keep the Wolves at Bay and the phone calls that are coming in from other programs trying to steal your guys it is not easy probably as difficult as it's ever been David to be a head coach now with the transfer it is and think about players man if I'm not happy if I'm not getting the run I want like I can just leave I can go picked off he was thinking big return didn't get that but boy did he give his offense an opportunity at the 31 and how about that play by the defense here early in this game opening drive facing one of the best quarterbacks in all of college football and they're able to get an interception that is going to be massive for their confidence in this game first down here for the offense complete Le to start this drive makes a grab and he's dragged down great job by the quarterback there he saw the safety bite on the Run fake so as the safety comes running downhill he now knows he has the slant throw to his receiver on the outside wide receiver coming across in motion takes the hand off it's Ward gets it to the 42 yd line and that's a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs pretty off comes out throwing on first down got it behind the line it's Roberts and just a short safe pass play they pick up a few again this is a running back that can hurt you running it between the tackles and he's dangerous out in space they like to throw it to him out on the perimeter as he picks up a couple yards there and he found plenty of Running Room on that one before the defense was finally able to get him down and the sharks are on the Move they'll give it to him again they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one man what a spectacular play by that defensive end to come up with the tackle there and you see those guys get off the football so fast most of these guys are 250 to 275 lbs but they get off the ball fast offensive line but they have no chance to stop those guys as quick and as fast as they are third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off from the gun wants to pass he's got his man and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down the Sharks will send out the punt unit he ought to be able to use his first punt to pin him deep the punt goes out of bounds and a nice job to get them backed up I think they'll spot it right around the 15 Colorado has the ball back and the Buffalo hoping to put their team in Prime position on offense boy they had that last Drive moving a little bit David but then the mistake just flushed it and those mistakes are going to happen you going to throw the football you're going to throw interceptions but I think I stay aggressive with this offense I get back to what I did in the first part of that drive what made me successful I agree David just turn the page if you're a quarterback right on this drive you did a lot of good things there leading up to that pick forget about and the pass is intercepted and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception and this is obviously not a great start for this quarterback here two interceptions already in this game he's got to do a much better job with his decision making couldn't order better field position for this offense the give from the gun Jes his way for more I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting him down there but they got to do a great job gain tackling because this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of plays into home runs they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one they have about that defense on the snap they are in the back field great penetration nowhere to go for the running back that defense was sitting on G waiting on o they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from [Applause] here can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard noosed pass defense and now it's fourth down now looks as if they'll settle for the field goal try and it's no good he missed it and after the Miss guys the score stays right where it [Music] is and the Colorado offense is coming back onto the field after throwing the pick on the last drive need to take care of the ball this time Jesse we're going to find out a lot about this quarterback right here too how does he fight through adversity after that that last Drive yeah clear the mechanism move on that's a part of it right you're going to be a great player got to learn how to handle these mistakes and move on eight- yd pickup on first down leaves them with second and short back to throw it's Sanders got rid of it quickly but it's incomplete well the quarterback knew where he wanted to go with the ball his intended target just wasn't open so the quarterback made sure he put that football in stance they'll try to run for it throwers that shoulder delivers the blow defense caught out of position and they get him down finally at the 38 dude he's already picked up 46 yds on the ground in this first quarter that is a terrific start the buffalos come to the line with a fresh set of downs on the ground it's Welsh and he's able to find a little bit of Running Room before they get him down good spot after that seven yd pickup on first down it's second and three off play action looking down the middle and it'll be incomplete this is some physical pass defense that last incomplete pass has him staring at a third and three get on Third and short they'll ride the running back here and the buffalos have a first down well the offense knew what they needed to get that first down so they dial up the running BL they get just enough to keep the drive alive right back to the well got some room headed to the goal line and he'll finish the run in the end zone Dodge down [Music] buffalo I'm not sure anyone even breathed on that running back by the time he got into the End Zone N so many blockers out front where are the Defenders it's a good idea you know the guy with the ball that's usually the guy we want to go tackle go go get [Music] him lining up for the pat for the extra point and with the extra point they get the first seven of the game and let's check in with Kevin Conor's in the studio Kevin Dynamite match up this week fellas let's show you what's going down Louisville has the lead right now but it's not like Lamar Jackson is under Center out there today which might explain why this one is so close they're up by seven over the pandas we'll Circle back if anything big happens in this college football matchup oh and how about that I know Kevin and those guys will be keeping an eye on it for us [Applause] out of the shoot quick toss to the right he's brought down solid pick up but a little bit short of the first down not difficult not complicated but early in the game get in that Rhythm find that timing into your wide receiver so you're set up for Success then you go attack deep later on the give to the back and they make the tackle but he has plenty for the first down but with the weapon this offense has you knew it was just a matter of time in the Run game before someone was going to break a long one they' just been running into a wall they just couldn't seem to find their creases and get enough movement up front but they finally got it there picking up the first let's see what happens next throws to the wide out got a wide open receiver and he was loose and out the gate and doesn't go down until he gets to the 48 yd line the offense lining up for a first down play first Red Pass it's complete and the defense settled in to stop that one for a short gain it's hard to have success on wide receiver screens when you're facing press man coverage because your blockers out front often times can't pick him up and that receiver gets gobbled up as soon as he catches the pass you saw it on that last play snagged on the outside it's [Applause] Manny he third and long coming up here from the gun wants to pass he's got it and you can see the offense just feeling itself they've got it down to the 21 new set of downs after that completion and that's first for the they'll run it to the right and the defense finally makes the stop after the sweet run and good gain and this guy is Elite there's a reason why he starts in this offense you just saw the speed in the open field running ability on that last play and this is a guy that is going to be key to the entire season for this offense and the Sharks trying to get a touchdown on first and goal the snap sets up to throw a little release to the back they go up top to get it down to the fivey line as they try to pay off this drive this defense is going to have to be careful not only do they have to worry about this guy running the football but they've got to keep their eye on him when he runs routes to he is a versatile battle unleashes to the end zone fires a bullet now it's picked off and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back for its own that is one the quarterback is going to want to have back it's touchdowns or it's check Downs once you get down to the Red Zone can't get too aggressive in greedy trying to fit the football into small windows and as a result QB throws a [Music] pick Colorado has the ball back and the Buffalo hoping to put their team in Prime position on offense that running game was impressive taking them right down for a touchdown last time David yeah just mauling no secret play calls just simply we are more physical people than you and we're pounding the football right at you so if you're on offense this next Drive take a look at their safeties and see if they're creeping up into the box because of your success running the football this might be time to take a shot down the field and play action to throw it's Sanders he looks that one in nicely and he tried to string out that run but there was nowhere to turn it up field and he's forced out of bounds for a loss they'll try to find a more productive play this time on second and long from the 14 power football with the Run he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple great team defense on that run play everybody doing their job people winning their one-on ones D linemen staying in their gaps linebackers and DBS filling you just can't do it better buyers to the right and the third down pass is incomplete third and long situations are really hard to convert the defense knows it's going to be passed the pass rushers are getting up field you're under pressure you don't have timing and as a result now fourth down and returner will be dragged down and the offense back on the field ready to dial up ball plays that last Drive was a punch in the gut throwing the pick in the Red Zone Jesse yeah it just seemed like there was some miscommunication down there in the Red Zone David this drive the qban receivers just have to do a better job without being on the same page yeah and I think you pull the positives right we moved the football down the field we had a chance to score but we can't let those opportunities slip between our hands let's go get some points didn't get much on first down it's second and nine motion by the back forces the defense to adjust oh there's a loose football on the bad pitch great job by the defense forcing the fumble but bad unfortunate bounce and the offense pounces back on the it's fortunate to still have the ball but also facing a big third [Applause] down they finally get him stopped but what a good job by that front wall to set up the screen and create some lanes for their running back pre snap motion quarterback trying to get a read fires to the wide out can't hang on and he'll tell you he really should have made that catch and he had an opportunity right in the middle it'll be second down they'll Run play action caught in the back field it's Manning he's brought down but he went backwards after that completion not the way they had it drawn up they're within field goal range at the 29 let's see if they can pick up a few or the first down on Third and long didn't have much of a choice just to throw that one away it'll be fourth down they're happy enough to try to take the points as the field goal unit heads out and this will be a bit of a challenge a 46 yd attempt from the right hatch and he missed it no good after that Miss kill a seveno game guys [Music] and the Colorado offense is coming back onto the field they'll have another opportunity to extend this lead after punting last time David and it's important to put that punt behind you it's it's over let it go get back to what you were doing that built this lead yeah and defense obviously they won a few Downs uh that last drive so we got to put them on their heels here maybe mix up a few Personnel groupings and try to show them some pictures they haven't seen yet the playaction fake unload it downfield and that's going to be incomplete going for broke on second down but third Down's coming up we'll see if they go back to the air after the incompletion it's third and five he'll try to pop the draw he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple on that last third down play if you're going to go draw the quarterback's got to do a better job selling pass I think he was just a little bit too quick getting the ball to the running back and now here we are fourth down fourth down down and the punt team sends it the other way fair catch called for and made line gets set first [Applause] down they'll run it from the gun he picks up maybe a couple before he stopped right at the 30 yd line now that's what you're try to do as a defense limit those damages when they run the football get them on the ground short gains to set your defense for positive situ ation down the road here's a quick throw out to the left he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this [Applause] offense hand off from the gun just a solid stop by this sophomore and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you Comm commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first continuing to turn and move it forward and they're closing in on Midfield it's down at the 48 here on third down from the gun wants to pass they're working that left side and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down sharks are moving quickly down the field he'll pull it on the re and he doesn't find much Running Room a short gain on the play well the QB decided to keep it on that one and listen if you had his athleticism you'd want to keep it too almost every time they run these types of option plays but he's just going to have to do a good job of understanding when to hand it off when to pitch it and try to keep this defense on their heels and read his keys he's got a lot of talent just got to make sure he's making the right decisions moving forward trying to wear down this defense a seventh play of the drive it's third and one they'll try to pick it up on the ground he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three they're trying to run the football there's just nowhere to go for the ball carrier inside he tried to bounce it to the outside that linebacker way too fast he met him there forc the tfl and the Sharks will punt this one away this will be a second time they've had to kick it away and that one will Sail Out of Bounds no chance for a return there Colorado has the ball back and the Buffalo hoping to put their team in Prime position on offense they missed an opportunity to extend this lead the last time they had it Jesse yeah they got to be able to regain that momentum right go back to what was working earlier on in this one David to me that starts with being the more physical team no I definitely agree being the more physical team but understanding the situation of the game you're still winning you got the football back now put a nice drive together and exec well when you're running the cor rout against Zone coverage is a QB you know you got to get the receiver the ball quickly this quarterback has a cannon for an arm he showed you on that last throw and the offense picks up the first down that's the 35 he's open he's brought down but not before they pick up the big first down he's now up to 66 yds for them on the ground already in this first quarter he looks as if he's ready to put up numbers the offense showing motion from the tight end trying to get a read on the D fighting off the defender they've got it to the 49 yd line and they'll move the chain and the buffalos with the first and 10 looking to move it through the air got his man down the middle really good seres for this offense they move move the chains and he's got it at the 34 after that completion move the sticks it's first down looking for room it's Hayden and they try the middle of this defense and that is not happening no doubt offense wants to keep running the football to win this game but I'm wondering if they're starting to go to the well too often they got to start showing some new wrinkles here in the second half running back searching for a hole that'll be a gain of about seven leaves him with third and three and that looked like an easy decision for the quarterback hand it off give him the ball let him get five plus yards nice decision nice job by the running back getting the yardage he'll throw on third down he's got he's right out of bounds after the big gain and they are in business first and goal third down a lot of times it comes down to not necessarily who's the most open who do you trust the most yeah it's not about the x's and the O's it's about the jimmies and the Joe's and to the end zone he goes touchdown [Applause] Colorado I think you love starting the year off with some momentum and that's exactly what this offense is doing they're firing on all cylinders defense doing their job as well this team getting out the gates to start the season in great fashion they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point pushes the lead to 14 we check in with Kevin Connor what's going on Kevin boys and it's happening in college football we've got eyes on it check this out fla is currently ahead of the scoreboard but it's clear Tim tbo's not out there and because of that I don't see a blowout today in the swamp they're up by a field goal over Miami we'll Circle back if anything big happens you should know about it thanks for the update on that one Kevin let us know when it goes final they'll start this drive with a pass complete to the left good Paul good execution as they move the chains and they have a first down at the 38 he had the perfect play to open the drive and now they'll snap it again from the 38 caught on the outside it's Manning a nice job by the defense there tackling the smothering the tight end they know this offense is going to try to find him in the passing game in a lot of different situations that time perfect coverage and nice job bringing the big guy down and here's a fumble way behind the line it's so hard to force fumbles and when you do you so badly want to get them you're crawling you're doing whatever you can to get there as a Defender but the offense fortunate enough to cover it back up give to the back and he was able to run through one tackle but still only a modest gain I like feeding my guy I like getting my running back touches feeding the ball so he can break some of those big runs but I'm also okay with these little ones set the tone stay balanced didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he's got it on the right didn't pick up aot there moving forward just a few and that was close for the offense they try to go wide receiver screen they're counting on that receiver beating that Defender wasn't able to make him miss that time but if I'm on offense I'm going back to that play later on Third and long he has to throw for it receiver looks it in it's complete he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down I'm winding down in the quarter as they come to the line here's the give off the left side and they'll make the stop and we are headed to the end of the first period line getting set on second [Applause] down while we're only through one these quarterbacks have been lighting up their stat lines now the challenge here they e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e [Music] can't let it get out of hand as we start the second will'll start the quarter offense about to snap it on second [Applause] down wide receiver shows motion from the gun the running back tries to hit the hole they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well the offensive line had everybody blocked except the defensive end he was able to sneak into the back field and get the tackle for once this will be the eighth play of the drive but a great opportunity for the defense to get off the field on Third and long he's going to have to turn one loose down field and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop now on fourth down they'll send out the field goal unit and very important not only to generate power but to find his Mark a 49 yd try from the left the kick is good it's [Applause] good that makes the score Colorado 14 shocks three after putting up the field goal they're set to kick it away adance on the football he'll bring it back from inside his spot he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 and the Colorado offense is coming back onto the field they Unleashed an aerial assault last time that took him right to the end zone David So ree with that drive I think you've accomplished something you wanted to accomplish make this defense think you put them back on their heels now shoot P you might be able to slip a few runs in on this drive to really Jack him up yeah I like that idea but I also like the fact that speed kills they've got it at the receiver position so if you got one-on-one matchups man take advantage and I think that's one of the hardest routes to defend when you're outside and they're running comebacks you think about it it looks like it's going deep it's going deep I can't get beat deep receiver sits down but how about the break on the football getting in between him and the receiver and making the big play you want to make sure to maximize those types of runs and he gets it out to the 41 he now has 108 yds on the ground a very productive first half here in the season opener they've got it at the 41 third and short trying to keep the chains moving it's a draw and they'll move the chains and get it to the 47 yd line all right defense that's that's what we can't do we can't give up this many chunk yards on the ground got to commit more guys to the line of scrimmage got to get those running backs on the ground that's way too easy the buffalos are moving quickly down the field to the air it's Sanders it's complete Gun Room at the 35 finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down this offense has become a first down machine machine and that is so demoralizing for the defense especially for those star players that are playing tons of snaps they're not subing out as much by the fourth quarter they are going to be gassed and the buffalos have it with a first and 10 SP looking for space it's Hayden he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three and sometimes for the defense it just takes one play right to create some momentum obviously this guy's been eating him up he's got over a 100 yards rushing on the day but finally David they get something positive here in the Run game defensively but you kind of know that coming in he's going to get his such a great back and he's had a great day need to put more plays together like that right there third and long from the 30 yd line in this defense hoping to knock them out of field goal range from the gun one wants to pass he makes a catch he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they've got enough for the first down and the buffalos are threatening in the red Zone's go the give to the back we'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up brings it up going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end [Applause] zone9 hands it off they'll give him four yards on the carry it's down at the 8 yd line that didn't bust for a long one but now third down becomes very manageable it's not third in eternity now the whole Playbook short passing game long passing game all of it's available to the air it's Sanders and he was looking into the end zone but it's incomplete yeah and third and short that choose not to run throw the football and I think a lot of that has to do with they know they're in field goal range they can take the three points on the board that thing would have hit a string in the middle of the uprights perfect and that will extend their lead even further [Music] so after the made field goal they'll kick it away and rely on their defense he'll start the return inside his five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they' get him on the ground at the 20 offense set on first down leaves it with the running back nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry a negative play to open the Drive let's see what they've got on second and [Applause] 14 he's looking to throw he's right on target he's right out of bounds but a big play on that that one and it'll be a first down a new set of downs after the [Applause] completion lost to throw on first down off the play fate and the defense gets to the quarterback what a nice answer by this defense you give up the big play you respond right back you get the sack create some momentum for your side nice job by this defense staying with it on the second down now after the [Applause] sack here's the hand off nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry and we might as well State the obvious first and second down didn't work out third and very long he's looking downfield to throw and the pressure was too much they get him at the 15 well I think one of the biggest reasons why this team is finding themselves in a hole here in the first half is this has been a sack party they can't keep the defense off of their quarterback they haven't been able to get the ball deep down the field throwing it with the consistency they want because they can't keep their quarterback standing up [Applause] straight the Sharks will line up to pun it away [Applause] he gets a block he make the Stop and that is exactly what you want out of your punt cover unit Colorado has the ball back and the Buffalo hoping to put their team in Prime position on offense so last time David they ate up some clock ran a bunch of plays but settled for the field goal yeah but they're still up reef and I like where I'm at if I'm on offense right now my job is to put another long drive together eat more clock and get another score just got better in the Red Zone this time around when they get down close to the goal line you need better execution put a touchdown on the board here looking to go up top on first down fired that thing out in a heartbeat but it's incomplete yeah and sometimes the coverage is just great and as a quarterback you throw the football away or don't try to force it too tight into a window and you just say hey defense won that bre good coverage the give to the tail back they'll pull him down after a pick up of five down to the 23 when you're a defense it is stop the run first that is your first responsibility it makes the whole game easy and right now they got it going on the ground the defense is going to have to change something up these little tiny Dink and dunk Dink and dunk you keep doing this they'll go all the way down the field on you so you might want to get a little bit more aggressive keep the foot on the pedal if you're on offense here you got that yardage yeah you didn't get the first down but you've set yourself up now to go for it here and this drive a lot and here comes the field goal unit he got it and now the lead is extended a little farther let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Connor Kevin what do you got all right guys a little update on what else is happening in college football this weekend UTSA is currently aheading this one inside a jam-packed Alamo doome but they've struggled to really pull away they're up by seven over Kenna state we'll Circle back if anything changes in this exciting college football matchup and how about that one Kevin will be keeping an eye on everything going on elsewhere on the run from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 and now the offense will come onto the field again off the play fake on first down to throw got him downfield and it it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end after a big Gainer on that first play now they can really go for it on First and 10 out of the gun the running back has it they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and it's a great play by the defensive end the most athletic players on the field play defensive end Yes you heard me Jess gree exactly what I said great get off great job getting the Back Field making the play and how about that interior defense stuffing the run for nothing they've got a good chunk of brown to cover on Third and long from the 41 unloads to the wide out and a missed opportunity on third down as the defense knocks it free and fourth down is coming up and the Sharks decide to punt it away fourth time tonight we've seen this guy come on to punt looking for a block it's Hunter was looking for more Running Room but found nothing but more tacklers he's down at the 24 and the Colorado offense is coming back onto the field they've got the lead here last time they settled for a field goal but David got to find that balance between being aggressive and careful and I think they'll take that I got the lead Palmer I got the football I got to take care of the football put a nice drive together and just get some kind of points on this drive no doubt lots to be happy about right now if you're this team I think for this one though on this drive it's about finding the one-on-one matchups that are in your favor and then exploring he threw that one with some serious Heat this senior quarterback doesn't need a lot of space to get it in there they give it to the back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and the defense is going to have to have more plays like this he has had a ball game so far running wild all day long defense finally comes up with the stop Maybe get a little momentum here over a 100 yards already in this game so if I'm on defense here I'm adding more guys to the gets away from one find some space racing to the right touchdown Buffs he shed tackles like a snake getting rid of his skin I love the execution on that play great blocking up front just to get the ball carrier opportunity in the second level of the defense and then at that point it was make a guy Miss and use the speed that was is a perfectly executed [Music] [Applause] play lining up to add another is on for the extra point and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and he knows how to finish in style a 66 y to the house almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown fielded In The End Zone it's bullet that is a decision he will likely regret he brings it out of the end zone and he's knocked down at the 10 they've got the Big Fellas out there a three tight end look on First and 10 Ed the play fake now a throw and down he goes back at the three what a great job by this defense setting the tone early in the first half they've been hitting the quarterback early and often make him feel uncomfortable make him feel that pressure keep getting him on the ground that's why they've built the [Applause] lead this offensive line has just been unable to keep them away from the quarterback now it's second and long give to the running back they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks wow this offense is doing nothing they've already punted four times and staring at the possibility of a fifth takes it from the gun on third down he's going to let one fly down the middle and they can't hook up on the big play and that brings up a fourth down the Sharks will bring the punt team onto the field they may have to pay him overtime he's punting for the fifth time today and no shot at a return here as the punt goes out of bounds Colorado has the ball back and the Buffalo hoping to put their team in Prime position on offense looking for a productive play on first down from the gun leaves it on the inside with the back that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there got three on first down at second and seven here we go trying play action Joey the arm strength to the left and he bats it away it falls incomplete great play by the defensive back showing you his variety of skills his ability to turn the hips his speed running down field turning his head to locate the football and then swatting it away you just can't do it better putting together a real scoring threat here as they pick up the first down at the 36 the buffalos come to the line with a new set of downs they're going to go right back to him on first down they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well this defense obviously knows they have to be able to stop the run now in the second half if they're going to win this game and you wonder if they were able to make some tweaks and some adjustments at halftime maybe getting some more bodies close to the line of scrimmage to give himself El a chance to come back in this game grabbed over the middle it's Hunter and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes the stop from the gun the running back has it pulled down after a pick up of three balls at the 13 at y down coming going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down they feed him again he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three great play by the defense there and listen they got to do more of this running backs obviously had a lot of success they got to continue to stop this run game be physical and not let this guy beat him and they can't make the play on third down nice job by the defense they're mixing up their look they're third and long in field goal range they go Zone coverage so everybody on the back end has the eye on the quarterback and they're able to break on the ball Force the Inc he splits to the uprights and puts three on the board and now the lead is even bigger that lead just keeps getting fatter in this kickoff team doing a little running look looking for blockers good job by the coverage unit to put a stop to that return a little bit backed up to start this drive from their own 18 yd line from the gun the ground game they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and [Applause] 11 motion from the offense they'll try the run that may not look like a huge run but they'll take it as it gets him up to the 24 how bold will they be on third down after that last run off the play fake fires left right on the money to the outside he dragged the toe and how about the ball placement only the receiver could get it they'll snap it from the 39 first and 10 and first down for the off [Applause] out of the shotgun they go to the ground and he's able to shed one tackle and pick up pretty good yardage up to 45 yds rushing and that is quite an impressive first half here in this season opener on the option and maybe a wise move not to even try the pitch as he's knocked down in the back field this defense will try to force a fourth down on third third and short from the 45 the back goes in motion out of the shotgun on third down gets it out quickly excellent job working through the air there finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down and on that third and short I don't think he was unhappy to see that zone nope was a great job by the offense hey see where the holes in the zone are sit down you only need a little bit of yards on this third down get the conversion move the sticks and how how about that play by that giant that mountain of a man on the defensive front they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 from the gun running back on the move and he's able to shed one tackle but still just a very short gain already two for two on third down but this time they'll need nine to convert from the gun wants to pass looking to the big tight end and that pass picked off looking for room and the senior just snatched the ball out of the air and gave it back to his offense we've just seen in this game the ball has just gotten away from him a little bit a couple of times just hasn't been able to put it where he wants to and as a result that's now his second pick thrown in this [Music] game and the Colorado offense is coming back onto the field they kicked a field goal on the last Drive Jesse they've got the lead don't make a dumb mistake but maintain your aggressive play call after burner's coming and he will finally go out of bounds after another big gain and they are absolutely gashing them with this running game yeah and obviously this offense has had their way getting the huge lead and now when you know it's a running situation later in the ball games you're still getting pound that this defense has to step up at some point and be a lot more physical D coordinators down the road that have to play this offense man they're going to have nightmares because this unit has so much speed and so much skill at running back receiver tight end a quarterback making good decisions it is e e e e for e e e e e e e e for e e e e e e e e e e e e e e stop them and prevent explosive plays they're trying to throw the screen out to the receiver the defense though having none of that they are just too physical they're too fast they force a negative play and he is finding wide open Defenders all over the field his third interception of the day and he's wrapped up after a solid return on the pick timing has to be so good when you're throwing into his own defense over the middle of the field the ball's got to come out specifically on time because these windows close really quickly ball there thrown a little bit late as a result it's an [Applause] INT first down here with time for maybe one more play until the two-minute warning come on [Applause] set HS and fires complete and he brought one tackle on the way to a solid pick up there yeah and what a nice job seeing it reacting and throwing it when you run these rpos you want to read the defense really quickly is he playing Run Okay boom I'm going to throw the slant right behind him nice job by the QB we've reached a two-minute warning and this thing has been one-sided and they hope to at least have something to feel good about going into halftime [Applause] now on second down 42 he's looking to throw just missed his man gave him just a little too much these are the types of plays where offenses impose their will third and short from the 45 from the gun wants to pass good timing on the quick out at the 35 he's loose and they are pushing the ball down the field a big pick up on that one and the tackle is finally made finally this offense starting to show a little juice they've got a first and 10 they'll throw it from the Red Zone and here comes the Heat and they get home and they get him at the 21 you got to be impressed with this defense early in this game guys they've got a big lead because they are getting after the quarterback they've already generated multiple sacks they thought coming into this game they could take advantage of this offensive line and that game plan is working to [Applause] Perfection they've already racked up big sack numbers it's starting to snowball and they are ready to go again on second down looking to throw he caught it they will score touchdown sharks man nice job getting the passing game going th this is big man going at the half and listen I know you're trailing but building some momentum maybe this second half we can keep airing the football out cutting into this deficit and who knows what the heck will [Applause] happen he'll try to tack on one for the extra point smashes it through for the p and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Connor's in the studio all right guys a little update on what else is happening in college football this weekend SMU is ahead in this one this team plays a just another week of college football where we've come to expect the unexpected fellas oh and how about that I know Kevin and those guys will be keeping an eye on it for us we'll see what they can do on this drive that starts at the 16y line trying to start the drive with a pass another interception that's his fourth of the day he goes out of bounds but he creates the turnover and a great opportunity for his [Applause] offense line gets set first down Jack Rabbit he wants to throw that is just a sideline credit throw catch tow drag everything you want on first down from the 13 yard line and that's first the he's looking to throw it he's got it on the run and he'll run across the sidelines after the good gain operating in the Red Zone here on second down he's looking to throw not much of a chance there he just had to get rid of it to avoid the sack really need to pick up this conversion and avoid having to settle for the field goal they'll go to the air on Third and short and makes the grab in the end zone touchdown sharks what a grab and what a quick strike from that offense and when I'm an offensive coordinator and I see a short field I'm thinking attack attack attack go get that touchdown take advantage of what the defense gave you great job by the offensive [Applause] coordinator on to attempt the try kicker on for the extra point and it's up and good quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and they CA the drive with a four yd touchdown pass trying to get back in this game with that last score it's a 13-point game as they're set to kick off and he takes this from inside the five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Colorado has the ball back and the Buffalo hoping to put their team in Prime position on offense they've got some time to work with here Jesse and if they get a first down they might really get aggressive I'd be aggressive right out of the gate I'd be throwing for a first down if I get it then pedal to the metal I'm in that two-minute mode to try to score a touchdown and get a field but I do think this is a situation where you also have to understand that I have the lead going into the half I've got the momentum so don't do anything stupid ripped off a chunk on the opening play of this drive now it's first down from the 48 throws to the wide out it's caught lots of green grass as he gets it to the thir the magic bean is spinning out of control already over 200 yd in the first half yeah they're being aggressive offensively throwing the football trying to take advantage of this defense on the back end they've got their quarterback right now in it the offense will have to use its first timeout of the half time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half to the air it's Sanders throwing right got his man we've got a timeout in the waning seconds of the half maybe a chance to get off a couple more plays and the buffalos will line it up on First and 10 [Applause] 29 they're looking to pass from the Red Zone he's got it they'll get it down to the8 yd line on that throw and catch and the defense is backed up against the wall the offense quickly calls timeout to stop the clock and with just a few seconds remaining here in the first half they'll try to kick a field goal and as a holder picks his spot it'll be a 25 yd attempt absolute shank missed it after the Miss field goal fellas still a 13-point ball game 17 first half in the books time now to join Kevin Connor in our halftime update thanks guys a first half that saw a little bit of everything there in Boulder and the story of the half has been that Elite Corner we were told he was tough to throw against he's basically taken away an entire side of the field when he's out there causing turnovers and getting physical how often do we say that about lock down guys and how this offense schemes against him in this second half will be fun to watch and with that let's send it back to the guys more than a mile above sea level at fome field [Music] e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e [Music] and the buffalos will kick it away to crank up the second half on the move from inside is five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 and the offense takes the field eager to go back to work trailing by a couple of scores they'd like to generate some confidence here early in the third quarter down two possessions the coaching staff met in at halftime and they've probably scripted this opening drive just like they do at the start of the game they've now got an idea of what plays they feel most confident in what plays their quarterback is seeing the best to go out here and execute a scoring well and it's nice to get the ball first like I got the first opportunity to close the gap a little bit apply some game pressure to these guys so I think getting the ball first driving down scoring right here would be huge this offense has to get this guy the ball in as many ways as possible he showed you all of his tools on that last play leaves it with the back and maybe maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that great job of contained by this defense and in order to do that the end man on the line of scrimmage defensively has got to be able to set the point and force the football back into traffic and that's exactly what happened here and the defense is all over the quarterback and down he goes yeah and man you talk about being down at the half what's one thing I need to do I I got to protect my quarterback in the first series here now you're getting your quarterback hit and Tak to the ground this offense has to protect that dude at all [Applause] costs if every Journey begins with a step this offense needs to step into a third down conversion and then try to turn it into some scores and fast oh kinds of room to throw that one in there and they'll do more than move the chains they'll move that thing more than 30 yard down the field before he's finally stopped That's What's So Scary About This offense they've got guys in the perimeter that can change the game in one single play and you saw it right there too much speed on the perimeter to create that explosive play and the sharks have their offense in high gear wants to throw on first down looking to the big tight end caught over the middle it's McAllan he is down at the one a terrific run after the throw and catch this defense might be reeling after those last two and now facing first and goal on the Move touchdown sharks and here they come almost all the way back number I tell you when this drive started the defense thought they had them in a hole not anymore what a performance and I really like the play calling by the offensive coordinator on that last drive that was a nice mixture of running and throwing and getting different players involved really nice job very poised in that play calling and it showed up with a touchdown Pat unit on the field for exra point and it's up and good as they draw Just a Touch closer that makes the score Colorado 30 sharks about to kick it off after punching it in for the [Applause] touchdown the returner will field it and try to do some business nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 and the Colorado offense is coming back onto the field we talk about settling for points but sometimes when you have to settle for nothing David it can be moralizing yeah and it can definitely be frustrating and I think it leads you to say maybe I go oh they knock it free defense covering it up and not letting the offense get it back it's a turnover I'll tell you honestly I don't know what that player could have done to hold on to that football that Defender absolutely popped him he knocked him into next week there was no chance he was holding on to that ball excellent field position here for the offense here we go looking for space it's Roberts I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical you hear it a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when they decide to run it picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down quick pass on the Fly motion dances away from one and he's able to shed one tackle and gets a pretty good pickup well and on these little push passes timing is so important trying to snap it right as he's getting a full head of steam when he gets the ball he's hitting the outside and David it puts the defense in such a difficult spot you immediately have to be rotating when you see that motion so everybody's got to communicate and kind of bump over that's why offenses love to run it just it makes the defense communicate and see if you can just get him out of a spot it's complete touchdown sharks they looked finished but they weren't still fighting and we're locked up and it's not an accident they're featuring this guy his second receiving touchdown of the game that's your job as a coach find my Playmakers get them the ball so they can do damage and have games like this right here getting set for the point after is extra point and the extra point puts them on top by one and let's check in with Kevin Conor's in the studio Kevin terrific Showdown this week guys let's take a look at what's going on South Carolina is down right now but you simply can't rule out a comeback javien Clowney had a hand in getting this kid to Columbia so if he thinks the magic is there who am I to disagree they're trailing by just four to Old Dominion we've got our eye on this one and everything else going on throughout the day guys thanks for the update on that one Kevin let us know when it goes final didn't find a lot of room let's give him two out to the 20 and these rpos always put the defense in a bind but listen you give up the Run they get a short little gain no harm no foul dropping back it's Sanders a strike downfield and he was and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one they'll snap this one from the 42 it's first and 10 from the gun running back gets to give and the Freshman does a great job using his technique and getting the man on the ground yeah and listen offensively you run the rpos you just want positive yards make the right read read the guy if he wants to drop back a little bit hand it off get some positive yards go on to the next play and the first guy couldn't get him but the second one does but not until he picks up the first down no surprise I mean with the way they're running the ball early in this game they're just going to keep doing it and they're just not hammering out two three four yd gains they're gashing this defense you saw it right there off the play fake on first down showing the arm straight down the left side man that is a huge missed opportunity for this offense when big plays like that present themselves you have got to hit them receiver did a great job with his route he was able to get behind coverage he had a step on his man quarterback's got to be able to make they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one third and long and he'll try to throw for it and here's the fifth interception by this quarterback and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception what a nice catch by the defensive back listen a lot of times you see DBS get in position to make plays but there's a reason they play DB and not wide receiver great job finishing the interception catching the ball making a big play on the now this offense is back on the [Applause] field they'll ride the running back and leave it with him didn't get much on first down it's second and nine looking for room it's Robert and he has a solid gain before the defense bottles him up think you run that play on second down knowing it's going to make Third Down Easy you're not trying to hit a home run you don't need the big play right now now you know third down everything's on the table everything's available High success they've got it inside the 40 at the 39 as they pick up the first down the Sharks come to the line with a fresh set of downs and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball second down coming [Applause] up misfired on the last play they'll go back to the air this time is complete just what this offense was looking for sets him up at the 26 with the first down and the sharks are marching down the field off the play fake on first down to throw using the quick game and I love when my quarterback sees Zone and knows exactly where to go with the football sees the wide receiver running the drag route knows when to throw it pulls the trigger for the easy completion fast motion from the offense touch pass on the Jet Sweep and he'll be taken down but he does have enough for the first down they're about to snap it for the seventh time on this drive first the trying to find his man on first down quick strike complete he's down at the one and they almost had the touchdown pass on that one and that's just a great individual effort by the wide receiver he catches this ball way short of the sticks but because he's able to make make the defender Miss now he's able to get the extra yards and turn that into an explosive play and they try the middle of this Stout defense and they rise to the challenge can the D deny them on second and goal they're going to run it and he takes it in for the score touchdown sharks sharks up and over yamoo be there into the end zone and you don't want to leave your feet very often in football but this is one of those areas where you do in the End Zone near the goal line you smell it a lot of bodies in front of you just get up get over top of them get that touchdown lining up to tack one more onto that lead and they kick it through for the extra point and they have an eight-point lead they just finished off a 53 yd scoring Drive and they finish it off with a short Plunge Into The End Zone here he comes from inside his own five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Colorado has the ball back and the Buffalo hoping to put their team in Prime position on offense that last Drive was promising for a while but you just can't mess it up at the end with the pick Jesse no you've got to be able to finish dve especially in this game if you're going to win in David they've got to be able to eliminate the metal mistakes yeah and I don't think you get conservative or play it safe you can trust your guy I think you put the ball right back in his hands and let him do his thing looking downfield it's Sanders and he's thrown another interception oh that was a terrific return as he takes it to the nine defensive backs have tough jobs I mean you think about whether you play nickel whether you play dime whatever it is you put more DBS on the field it's more speed it's more guys that can cover but they also got to cover that ground but to cover the ground and make the Pick A lot of times you don't see that superb effort by that guy and this my friend is what you call advantageous field position starting the drive with a first and goal wide out in motion quarterback keeps it he pushes his way down to the four as they get closer and closer heftiness coming out on the goal line brings up [Applause] Ang looking for a pass to the end zone to the right he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three they'd love to make this short field payoff with a touchdown instead of settling for three but it is third and goal from the gun wants to pass pass he wants it all and good hands there by the defense on that shot to the End Zone Third and short in college football today you see so much more pass than you used to the offense stays aggressive and I think they stay aggressive because they know they're in field goal range they got that three in their back pocket tried to give it enough Body English but he missed it after the Miss field goal still an eight-point game and guys more importantly still a one possession game [Music] and the Colorado offense is coming back onto the field one of the most valuable things a quarterback can have David shortterm memory just forget that last pick you're dang right clear the mechanism it's over move it behind some players can't do that real well and it leads to more mistakes Jesse you got to just forget about it and move on I think the coaching staff can help him too David I think you can get the running game going here and also give him some easy throws solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six easy looking to throw it's Sanders fires to the wide out intercepted and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception and that's the advantage right there of having your dime Personnel on the field you got an extra DB you got an extra guy out there who's really good at covering so for quarterbacks You' got to be so good and precise with these passes because they've got speed in the back end they're able to come away with the pick a first down for the [Applause] offense from the gun they'll try to impose their will Powers forward but stopped after a pickup of two to the 24 that's a really good job by the defense wrapping him up getting him on the ground take away that run game make him onedimensional put him in passing situations really good job by the defense keeps it on the boot bag looking to throw caught in the back field it's MCW and that is good versatility there and a big hit from the backer in pass coverage I don't know who on defense is going to cover this gu honestly he could be a problem for this defense over the middle of the field in the passing he's got his man and he's brought to the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down it's tough on the defense there third down you're in zone coverage everybody's watching the quarterback and you're trying to make a break on the ball but he just got it out of his hands too quickly and the throw was too accurate really nothing you can do there and it's now a fresh set of downs he bullies his way all the way down to the 5 yd line listen you you got to be able to know what play to call and what hole to go through like the line blocks for a certain hole good job getting through the hole getting what was blocked a nice positive game making your situation really good on the next down he almost picked up the first down on that one but he'll be just a little bit short not a lot of ground to cover and not much to defend a big third down in the Red Zone they'll try to pick up the first through the air touchdown sharks and they take it in for six more points stop number this is like a baseball pitcher that can't miss he is just pounding pounding pounding the strike zone it just gets in the zone right when you can't miss you you've seen quarterbacks get like that no matter what they do they're on fire they're hitting the receivers and listen that's also on the defense the defense has to do a better job making him feel uncomfortable changing what they're doing in coverage so he's a little bit confused you can't just let him pick you apart they'll try to attack one more on their score [Applause] exra and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further we check in with Kevin Connors what's going on Kevin guys let's recap that ranked on ranked matchup that has just gone final Clemson was far from the friendly confines of Death Valley but still managed to scratch out a win and there was a lot of chatter this week about this group not being ready time to check those receipts if you know what I mean always interesting to see ranked teams Collide and today was no different the agony and Ecstasy of college football fellas Kevin thanks a lot for that one sounds as if they had a good one there after the productive first down play at second and six now the play fake blasted as he lets it go that pass is incomplete and they might be fortunate it wasn't knock free for a fumble it'll be third down back to pass it's Sanders unloads to the wide out a beautifully placed ball to the outside in the tow drag for the big pickup well I think on that play you saw why this guy's such a big weapon in this offense in receiver he does such a nice job with his routes he's patient and he's consistent and he's got good hands you don't see him put a lot of balls on the ground nice job there picking up the first after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven he's looking to throw grabbed in the back field it's horn and good blocking in space out there to give him enough room to pick up the first down big play in the passing game there and I like the receiver gearing down in the zone did a nice job finding the soft spot on defense between the Defenders giving the quarterback an easy target to throw to to complete that throw it's just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second now to the ground with the back just enough room to gain a couple down to the 34 well they're going RPO nice job handing it off and really good Vision there just getting what he can get right puts foot in the ground gets forward helps this offense find positive yards ripping off a good chunk inside the 25 and they're set up with a first down and they just kind of sneak that one in there as a defensive guy third and five plus I'm thinking pass they were thinking pass Palmer and they slipped the run in and it's so nice then to have this guy at running back too right because you could throw it to him on third down or hand it off and he's got the vision and the atticism to go pick up that first keep the drive going now on second down after the short completion looking for a physical attack from the gun and he's able to bounce off one tackle for a solid pickup this defense has got to get better at tackling in the open field or game tackling because if you need three or four guys to bring a guy down have fun with that they'll stick to the ground looking for the marker just nowhere to go against this defense to find that single yard he needed on third down how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions with a double digigit deficit here in the second half they're going to go for it on fourth down try to get it on the ground got some room headed to the goal line touch down buffalo and they add six more to the board with that trip to the house now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic oh how could that happen he misses the extra point they put it in the end zone with a 12pl scoring drive and they finish it off with a 14 yd Run for the score and it'll be a Touchback the ball will come out to the 25 yd line and now this offense will take the field again after standing on the sideline and watching that long touchdown Drive they really need to put something together to give their defense a rest and that's a real thing man like and the pressure gets there and down he goes at the 18 they got more sacks than a grocery store goodness gracious time and time again getting to the quarterback getting him on the ground this defense having their way so let's see if they can make up for that loss on second down from the 18 wide receiver now comes in motion out of the gun the give to the back get some work done there pick up of four to the 22 now facing a third and long [Applause] looking to throw and he needs a chunk play and trying to put points on the board on third down now they're staring at Fourth Down the Sharks will call on their punt team and these guys have been busy six punt of the day he's got great speed he was hoping for a little more Running Room but they're able to get him down at the 45 Colorado has the ball back and the buffalo to put their team in Prime position on offense on that last Drive defense had no idea what was happening run or pass nit wound up in the end zone Jesse yeah you saw the experience in this offense that last drive too on that touchdown everybody on the same page these guys have reped these plays over and over in practice and in games and it's working D yeah so I got to find a way to disrupt it I I got to find a way to maybe be more aggressive maybe Blitz mess up this Rhythm they got going complete downfield really putting together a threat now they get the first in at the 37 and now a fresh set of downs for this offense they'll go to the ground not much working there it'll be second and nine you know as a defense you kind of want to force the give on the RPO you want them to run the football and you can tell maybe the quarterback wishes he pulled this small gain but some information you gathered maybe for the next time you could to run an RPO they'll leave it with him brought down just outside the Red Zone he moves the change it's at the 22 this offense all game on has been running really well and I'm really impressed by how well they've recruited at the running back position they've got some Dynamic players coming into the game at different points spelling each other keeping each other fresh and they're hurting this defense and swatted down by the defense to stop the scoring opportunity after the misfire now on second down they go to the ground and a good solid pick up there before the defense knocks him down the buffalos have moved it inside the [Applause] 205 on Third and short they'll go to the power running game he was running through tackles and picked up the first down and finally got knocked down and the buffalo have it with a first and 10 yeah and a nice job on third down managing the situation understanding what I needed to get nice job reading the defense handing the ball off and the running back knowing throw to the end zone picked off and after the interception and the turnover this defense has set its offense up for business you can't give points away when you're a QB you have to understand I got to be aggressive and it's tough in the Red Zone because those are really tight windows but man the one thing I cannot do is turn the football over I got to make sure I get points really poor decision great play by the defense they're backed up first and 10 from inside their own five let's see if they can create some space the give to the running back from the shotgun he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple the offense is trying to run the football at this area of the field right they're just trying to give themselves some space so they can go operate but the defense just bullied him up front at the point of attack and they're able to tackle that guy for a loss down at the one yard stopping the run is about physicality it's about I'm bigger than you I'm stronger than you up front really nice job by the defense showing their strength B up stuffing the own they'll run it from the gun and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker def sometimes avoiding disaster is the best thing the punter just gets it out of there makes the tackle really strong disciplined job and now we have one period to play and you want to talk about his favorite receiver it might be everybody based on the number of guys getting touches in a chance to show off their hands in the passing game when you're dealing with a deficit like this e e e e e e e e e e e somebody stepping up to make a play and you might as well start here in the fourth quarter and the Colorado offense is coming back onto the field that last possession a prime example Jesse of how things get condensed in the Red Zone hard to throw when the windows are smaller that's what happens down near the goal line David with this quarterback here just take accountability and ownership and come out here lead your offense and move on like we needed points that's something that we can harp on we'll watch the tape this week but now it's time to move on let's get another drive going this senior quarterback moving the chains and picking up a first down for his team here's this offense with a fresh set of downs quick hand off they make the tackle after he gets two down to the 25 at the 25 y after picking up a couple at second and eight right back to it they finally get him on the ground with the big running play moves to change for the first down and you're going to hear this guy's name a lot they're going to ride the big fella he's such a stud they're going to build the offense around him this is just game one but you're going to get a lot of big runs from this C throws to the wide out touchdown Colarado and they made it to the house where they found that six points waiting on them number oh Uncle Mo has changed Sidelines look out brother here's what happens right something happens get you close in the ball game the defense needs to come out here get a stop get that ball back to the offense oh Uncle Mo on your side [Applause] ready to try the point after is on for the extra point and the Pat will draw them one point closer let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Connor Kevin what do you got all right guys a little update on what else is happening in college football this weekend Washington State needs to pick up the pace but this puppy is far from over and with this crowd there in Coleman behind them I'm kind of banking on comeback it's a tight one right now they're trailing by only five to the Sharks we promise to keep you posted on what goes down in this exciting college football match up and how about that one Kevin will be keeping an eye on everything going on elsewhere and this junior quarterback shows you why the scouts love that big arm of his I'll be honest man if I had the weapons these guys had offensively I'd be staying aggressive too it's what got him to this point it's why they have the lead here in the fourth quarter take some shots when those opportunities present themselves good job running tough and behind his pads as he gets up to the 38 yd line they've got a lead here in the fourth quarter and there's certainly still plenty of football to go but this is where you'd love to control the flow of the game right you want to dictate everything to the defense and you do that by running the football that was a really nice run this offensive line is firing off late looks like they're getting stronger as the game goes on and that is a good sign for the offense the defense wouldn't let him loose and even though it's in completion they lost yardage lost one on that last one it's second and 11 he'll keep it himself he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three I'm not positive but that first down marker might be in the next County on Third and long a check down would be the last resort complete to the right and they finally get him stopped but it's a big throw and catch and he's down at the five so this offense with an opportunity to put this game in a hammer lock if they can score and bleed the clock they get him on the ground at the three yd line but this defense is taking some punches now the offense tries to punch it in on second and goal wide receiver coming across in motion they'll run it to the left looking for the End Zone he pushes it forward all the way to the two yd line if they can get it into the end zone here they can really turn up the heat in this one third and goal and he takes it to the house touchdown sharks touchdown and I love it I love the physicality of this offense it's third and goal I trust my offensive line to pave the way give the ball to my running back and know he's going to physically punch this thing into the end zone they'll try to add another to their lead for the extra point and the extra point is good and the lead is nine here in the fourth score lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive 43 from inside the 10 yd line he'll bring it back really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Colorado has ball back and the Buffalo hoping to put their team in Prime position on offense now they need to put something together to answer that last score there's a lot of pressure too on this offense to have to execute at a high level they've got to score points David but they can't go too fast because their defense right now is tired and I think that's the difficulty being a play call like I have to balance all of those things my defense is a little bit tired I can't put on the field but I got to be aggressive because this is a back and it's loose that football must be riveted to your rib cage how can you let it go at least they fell on it you got to think they'll try to muscle their way forward on Third and short from the 29 they'll try to power their way ahead that just never had a chance as they controlled the middle of the field and stopped him in the back field on third down I love when you start bringing linebackers up near the line of scrimmage and you start sending them because those guys have serious speed they they can come catch anybody up and down the line of scrimmage the linebacker you could tell he had a good clue what was going on he knew it was a run play fired pulled the trigger came downhill and attacked the running back this is the moment for this offense to put a drive together it doesn't matter what's happened up to the point of this game but you're trailing right now you got to put some points up on the board this is where all 11 guys need to be playing together as one and the defense holds firm no pickup at all on that play looking for a man it's Sanders basic connection and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pick up I'll tell you you cannot count this team out because of who's playing quarterback when this guy's in the game it's never over yeah they're trailing here in the fourth quarter but this dude can put up points quickly a solid pick up there before the defense is able to make the stop hey five to six yards a pop I don't know if you guys are really good at math but that usually equals a first down every couple carries so don't forget about the Run game keep them honest pound that rock tackle is made but not until he gets the first down I know this is an offensive line that has a ton of Pride they want to come out each and every game and really impose their will on the D line they got just enough push there on that run play to pick up the first got a man it's h he make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down I love offenses and quarterbacks that are willing to take the easy stuff take those easy throws that are guaranteed to get positive yards yeah I'm going to take big shots down the field too but don't forget it's easier to pick up second and five third and five and it is when we start getting those long yardage situations and the Buffalo will keep this drive going yeah and this offense listen we're in dwars spe right we we got a score bunch of points here we're down we're trailing we got to go fast but we also got to get first downs and that's a nice job sneaking in the Run getting the first fires and picked off going the other way and he's got room the 30 at the 20 touchdown sharks and this defense coming up with points of their own what an interception return the DB saw it he thought don't drop it don't drop it then thought don't get caught don't get caught and he didn't the pick six hey these guys can play offense too now look at this I showed you I can be a wide receiver coach might split him out at wide receiver next week after making that big play but defense great job making the interception and you're right doing something with it don't just slide down don't be content take that thing all the way back [Applause] brother looking for the two-point try easy from the gun and he just flat dropped it I think he wanted to run before he secured it they're lining up to kick it off after the pick six and that defense will come out feeling it he'll bring it back from inside as five he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 and the Colorado offense is coming back onto the field this possession will be a test after squandering that long drive throwing a pick six Jesse you're right reys well I think this is really dependent too on the leaders in this hudle right now to step up and help this offense get back on Pace here on this drive yeah and this defense is froing at the out they're excited they're jacked up they just made a big play they got all the momentum so they're ready to hunt to the air it's Sanders they've got the screen set up at the 35 he's got room they make the stop but not before the screen has hit him for a first down and much more really good execution by this offense fresh set of downs after the completion from the shotgun they'll run it not a whole lot of room there three yds maybe second and seven I like the decision there in the RPO game too guys I know he only got a couple of yards but that play is going to open up bigger opportunities throwing the football down the field in the RPO game too so keep handing it off to this guy let him see what he can do and when the defense gives you the look to t hold the football and then finally throw it that's when you take advantage man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out will they keep it on the ground again here on third down they'll try to get it through the air grab near the marker it's Hunter he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense this defense better not blink I know they've got a lead here in the fourth quarter but just look at who they're going against this quarterback is one of the best in the nation they cannot rest on their Laurel someone's going to have to make a play from the shotgun the inside get an excellent Vision to find Running Room there and make a really good pick up before the defense put a stop to it the buffalos getting set on First and 10 here we might as well give it to him again tough running this deep in the Red Zone he's got four down to to the 11 of up solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six they'll run it Mark it off as a 6yd gain down to the 6yd line I don't know man if I'm on defense here and I'm watching the way my D Line's getting manhandled I might have to put more guys in the Box I might have to sacrifice his safety and try to get more hats close to the line of scrimmage to slow this running back down cuz the RPO game has been a problem and he's sprinting he'll take it all the way touchdown box well that didn't necessarily go as planned but it was most effective in the end I love it reys down in the Red Zone this quarterback didn't have anybody open didn't Panic he just decided man I'm going to go do this myself I'm going to use my wheels and put up six on the board he did just that and with the lead sitting at nine they'll try to make it a onep possession game and with the extra point every little bit count as they get closer and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor's in the gentlemen oh and how about that I know Kevin and those guys will be keeping an eye on it for us from the gun they'll try to impose their running game get some work done there pick up of four to the 22 after the productive first down play it's second and six the give out of the gun that'll be a gain of five out to the 27 I think they called that knowing they weren't going to hit a whole so why would you call it that well you call it so third down becomes an easier down it's not third and long where I have to pass the football now all options on the T they'll move those chains getting it out to to pass good job to toss that ball out of bounds and avoid the loss after they couldn't connect it's second and 10 using his legs it's Roberts Pi up third down even if they don't confirm picking up a few would give them a decision to make on fourth down is third and long from the 45 and that's incompleted Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming up the Sharks will punt it away on fourth down bringing it back it's Hunter very little will make a crowd hold its breath like a part turn and he brought them to their feet on that one so the first play of the drive will come from the [Music] 43 they think there's room to run to the right here really nice stop there from this senior leader didn't get much on first down it's second and [Applause] nine looking downfield it's Sanders makes his connection and they finally haul him down but not before the good catching line he choose some of that with that completion now he's over 400 yd on the day that's a really really good game for this quarterback he's been almost Flawless and a nice solid pick up there before the defense wrestles him to the ground it's just simple simple first down run showing your physicality setting your offense up in a good spot caught behind the line it's Hunter he steps out of bounds but he's got a first down on the play defense what are we doing to let that guy one of the best receivers in the entire country be wide open like that you're just making it way too easy for the offense it'll be a draw nowhere to run on that when he loses four on the carry they try to go draw but there just way too much penetration in the middle of the offensive line and that the offense has a negative play they'll run R it out of the shotgun they knock him down inside the 30 at the 29 it's a pickup of six it's a makeable field goal from the 29 yd line let's see how aggressive they are on Third and long from the gun wants to pass saw spot in the middle and he gets it down to the four yd line before he's finally stopped a terrific run after the catch and the defense has to be kicking themselves for allowing a first down there you're just maybe going to give them a few yards and let them set up for a field goal instead you let them move the chains and now they're knocking on your door first and goal here's the snap looking to throw HS it in in the end zone C down buffalo one of the areas they really focused on with this receiver in the off seon we need you to make more plays for us in the end zone and we're taking shots we need to be able to step up and make tough catches David what a grab right there and I think a lot of that has to do with trusting your guy knowing where he's going to be knowing when he's going to sit down when he's not so being on the same page and then having a guy that can go get it just when the ball is near him he's going to make the play just like he did right there for six points after the score they need this two-point conversion to tie back to throw it's Sanders ball into the end zone and it's [Applause] intercepted e e e the at the Z point conversion is no good that keeps the score sharks 58 colado 56 [Applause] about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he thought about bringing that out for a half second but he'll take a knee and they'll bring it to the 25 the offense set for a first down play they'll run it to keep this clock grinding banging slithering whatever it takes to get that ball up to the 32 and I think if you're the head coach defensively now obviously you've got three timeouts in your back pocket you're trailing at this point and the offense is going to be running the football trying to bleed the clock they're going to take as much time off the game clock as they can before snapping it you've got to start thinking about using some of those timeouts just gashing e e gain to the 40 yd line I think most offenses around the country in a situation like this with the lead late with you try to run the football right or throw it short and try to bleed the clock but this offense man it's still pedal to the metal they're looking for chunk play opportunities on the run it's Roberts he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three timeout called there by the defense desperate to get ball back and save as much time as possible last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 and off from the shotgun he has an extensive Juke library and he exhausted it and still didn't pick up much quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense flip it flip it the give to the back and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense and the Sharks will try to pin them back with the punt the punt goes out of bounds and a nice job to get them backed up I think they'll spot it right around the 15 here comes the offense on first down looking to move it through the air he's taking the Deep shot makes a catch on the left oh look out touchdown Colarado and they've moved out front here in the fourth what a great job by this off and listen I judge offenses by what they do in the clutch in those big moments right before the half in the fourth quarter late in the game just like right here you need to score you got to go take the lead they do everything they they can now defense you're up I need you to get me a [Music] stop setting up for the p and when he gets this lead every Point matters and the extra point is good and the lead is five here in the fourth almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he'll start the return inside his five and the coverage team able to wrestle him down and the offense takes the field ready to go back to work coming out on first down with the play fake trying to get to him and the pressure will get there the sack down he goes in the waiting moments that could be a costly play on second down he'll let it fly looking left it's caught downfield and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up we've got a Timeout on the field a tight game in the fourth and the Brain Trust will go to work the quick out what a play by the defense I'll tell you every time that guy gets the ball in Space the entire Stadium holds their breath because of his game changing speed that is an outstanding job of an open field tackle in a two-minute situation man this late in the game it's go time I got to have a score I'm not worried about BS I'm going through my two-minute script we know what's coming we practiced this all week it's second down incomplete pass go to third down we need to go for it on fourth down this offense just has to keep that high energy up and try to run these plays fast he'll come out throwing on first down got his man quickly they immediately call timeout trying to preserve every second they can to try to rally here late looking to pass on second down and he just overshot his man and threw it out of bounds incomplete and let's hold on just a minute here as the officials are going to have a second look and you know the standard is indisputable video evidence and the officials will change the call the Sharks will have it first and 10 he wants to throw fires to the wide out he's got an open man that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the stop he'll set up to throw he caught it and that defense doesn't allow a cut back and they get him out of bounds after a short gain they've pushed it ahead to the four they'll try to cash in on second and goal power football with the run and he'll be stuck got nothing line of scrimmage still at the four got to get to the line quickly for this third down play is incomplete brings up trailing and getting deep in the game they'll go for it here on Fourth and goal they'll go to the air fires into the end zone incomplete on fourth down and man did they need to keep that drive alive first and 10 from inside their own five you got to take care of the ball but there is room to take a shot here running back searching for a hole that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there they get a big win here and start the season on a positive note you got to love that as the players you come out you have so much anticipation coming into the season finally getting ready to play in front of a live audience you're able to come out and execute and get this win under your belt David couldn't be a better way to start the year and for the losing team obviously it's a little bit different you have something to look at now to analyze where do I need to get a little bit better but plenty of time still left in the season to improve and turn it around so that's going to do it for us for Jesse Palmer David Pock I'm Rees Davis saying
