football is a game and of attrition you know what I'm saying and you want to make sure that you have competent backups man and some of these backups man were not looking great man they were not because Andrews Pete got totally taken to the Woodshed Man by rookie you know now I see why the Saints was so reticent to get rid of that guy he he didn't play well at all he's I think he he should be with the amount of snaps that he had know G Gardner muu was um you know if if I I think Gardner menu was was like SI and I gotta pull this up man but you know Gardner menu's stats were not that great as far as completion percentage so I'm going to pull the stats up from from the last game you guys bear with me right here you bear with me right here we got to get this rocking and rolling man we got that and when you're when you're out there and you're playing against a better defensive football team you're playing against the starters that's the kind of stuff that get you sacked that's the kind of stuff that gets you beat let's be for real here now as far as you know depth and some of the other things we're going to get into that a little later I I I you know I I think that the Raiders would be suited to go out there and go look for another freaking lineman you know I really I really do my guy IRA Jackson with the $ holla man I think they need to get ready to spend um so many of the cash to replace Lane players on the squad I mean Ira you you have to you have to be pragmatic about this you cannot you know go out there and spin your way out of weaknesses on your roster all the time the player has to be the right player they got to be the right fit you know what I mean it has to be the right time you know when you get guys out there after you know Cuts go down and stuff like that you can kind of scour with a waiver wire see if somebody fits into what you have going on but as far as for back roles there there is going to be guys out there that are available on the offensive line there there's also a guy out there that's a little long in the tooth you know we we can look into um this particular player but you know you know there was an article on you know heavy.com shout out to the heavy.com man um a lot of people are calling for the Raiders to go out there and bring in Riley Reef now Riley reef is a guy that was a first round pick at the Detroit Lions back in 2012 he's played for five different teams he started 149 games in his career he's also played left and right tackle so he has some versatility that's something that the Raiders really really look into and they like uh Reef spent 2022 with the Chicago Bears you know where Luke getsy was and you know he was off a coordinator there he should have some familiarity with the system so wouldn't be a situation where he you'd have to throw the baby out the bathro and you got a guy that has to learn this system right and it wouldn't be a huge learning curve for him and also man col Miller is on track to return soon you know according to August 9th story from ESPN Jerry Jeremy Fowler but if he's back and healthy the KNE at tackle would be less pressing but the Raiders do have their mford DJ glaze and and truus Pete so adding you know Reef might not be necessary but I'm thinking with Andrews Pete man and I don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater he had a bad game but man you know me looking into the future and seeing an Andrews P starting for the Raiders any amount of time is something that really really concerns me now I know this goes big with the nation but there are rumors the classroom we got to look at the practice habits we got to look at who is absorbing and ingesting the the the offense better and we also have to look at that game tape they don't you know a lot of that tape that they're going to be reviewing is going to be from these two games and I you know the only thing I can see Aiden no conell you know or or him being the incumbent losing his job it's him going out there and and totally imploding and [ __ ] the bed and you know throwing a bunch of interceptions man but muu definitely has taken a jump I think that it's more real I think he's gotten closer to the metric of trying to start man now there's a lot of people that says yeah I'll take the guy who threw the touchdown and and yo 100% touchdowns touchdowns touchdowns right but you have to look at the Nuance in that you have to look at the Nuance you got to look at who took more snaps right you got to look at who they were playing against you got to look at the down and distance and the guys that are willing to take shots down a f like I I watched a little bit of uh the commanders game and I saw Jaden D I want to see what he looked like and he's has adverti he's a kid he comes right in he's taking shots down the field right off the bat CJ stra was that kind of quarterback those top end quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes they take shots right guys like Aidan okell they have to get to a point where they develop the confidence to take shots now Gardner menu is a guy that has always been a gambler he takes shots but I don't think that the talent level lines up with his Moxy so with Aidan oconnell I think Aidan oconnell if you give him more time he's going to be in his second year starts to understand what's going on more sees the feel more gets used to the feel of the game a little more I think aan oconnell with him being a guy who takes care of the ball by you know week four or five will start taking more shots down the field and there'll be accurate shots and they'll be connell's ball placement see when I'm looking at a quarterback I look at more than just that box score I'm looking at where he's putting the football that is really really big that was one of the playing my guy Payton hurle I don't think it's a fact that gessie doesn't run enough I think they wanted to give the QBs the Reps to see what they look like but we'll see in week one look Payton to me I I feel like you know practice makes perfect right you want to go and run something similar as far as you know play distribution similar to what you you know you want to go through a real drive you want to go through a real drive like I I think if if if if if how can I say this if the metric is to have the most success possible on said drive when these guys are in the game I think running the football is imperative I think running play action passes and things like that are imperative right because they're not having any they're having you know scrimmages against the team the these These are these are Big ways to evaluate these guys I think if you're going to evaluate them you want to evaluate them as close to the metric you want to see in a regular season just with these two singularly right so if you're G to go out there and you're gonna call plays you want to call the plays kind of similar to what you would do in that situation during the regular season I think man know you gotta really start changing the way you construct your roster based off of that new kickoff man what did you guys think about that new kickoff really quickly before we before we get out of here man what do you guys think about that new does it look kind of hokey to you guys does it look kind of hokey to you it looks a little hokey to me right but I think what's gonna wind up happening is I think that you're gonna have to construct your roster a little differently from what I can see I can see you know people not carrying as many linebackers because you're going to need more guys to block you know what I mean people having more DBS and stuff like that was a little weird though right was a little weird but it I'm I'm looking for the Raiders hopefully there's somebody bright that's in our special teams unit and I hope it's not the Chiefs because they always you they're so Innovative somebody's going to start running plays during you know this kickoff because they got that space they're going to start running plays man I want to see who brings that Innovation you know especially early in the season when it's almost like preseason or or early in the in in the preseason man I want to see the Raiders um have some Innovation here maybe score you know what and it's funny man man it's funny man I like I that's really what I want to see man yeah that's right irvan Hunter bigger safeties guys that you're going to need more some more linemen man but the Raiders I want to see if the Raiders start running some plays man solom Mitchell the new kickoff rules look the one thing the the the one thing that for me that I like about the new kickoff is that you get a return you know because it was getting to the point where the return was getting taken out of the game and I'm going be honest with you that that didn't sit well with a football purist like me that didn't sit well with me that didn't sit well with me at all you know what I mean but you know I love the fact that you're getting returns I saw a lot all across the league but there's gonna yo I want to see some razzled dazzle because you got that space right so this time I want to see the team that runs plays on that junk like runs some some something that we've never seen before because this is like a new thing in the NFL that that's really I think that's really exciting man it's really exciting when you have a situation where that that you know if you have a bright mind on your coaching staff they can start coming up with things that make the Raiders or make your team stick out I'm hoping it's the Raiders man I'm hoping it's the Raiders man but yo you're gonna have to construct your R if this is if this rule is a rule that sticks around you're gonna have to start constructing your roster a little differently man yo Sean Thor always man with with the hate maker he goes all new things feel horrible give it a season before hating I say and that's a fact doesn't bother me no more fair catches more returns is exciting and and I'm glad that they were they found a way to bring that back because the league has to find a way to to make it look like they're trying to protect the players man they do it has it Pros it has its cons man it has it pros and his cons man raer felon hold on my guy I don't want our speed wide receiver getting hurt no one talking now look I think the fact that he gets a um a like a full head of steam and stuff like that he's gonna be on punt return I think you got to get the ball in Trey Tucker hand as much as possible when you got a Devonte Adams on his roster and you have you know a jacobe Myers you got a brock Bowers you got a Michael Mayor it you know those Touches for for a guy like Tucker with his speed is is something that you know he might not get as many touches as you would would like there there's guys that are going to get targets and touches man that are that are going to we outweigh you know Trey and then the thing is yo we got we got a a great defense supposedly right hopefully going into this year so you know you're going to have a lot of running of the football you're gonna have a lot of ball control so I'm gonna be honest with you I want to see Tucker if if if if he's you know good with the football and he hasn't dropped the ball I want to see Tucker back I need somebody that's electric I'm gon to need for us to get some points we weren't expecting people forget about special teams right but I want this special teams unit to be special all the way around not just the kicker and not just the punter how it is with the Raiders I want an explosive Return Man do you know how great it would be to have a a a Dante Hall level returner a Brian Mitchell now I know I'm talking about great great returners Brian Deon Hester I'm not g to compare him to those guys Deon Hester is the greatest kick returner that ever was right but to it' be it' be nice for you know the other opposing team when they kick the ball to us in a punt return to see them hold their breath and go oh no Tucker got the ball like I I I man I'm G be honest with you I'm waiting for that in also not having you know the kind of quarterback that you don't even you know you know what I mean not having a kind of quarterback that at this point hasn't really proven himself it's good to have a short field now you know with the kickoff rules man they place the ball in the 30 now when you're playing against a Patrick Mahomes kind of guy you'll kick the ball out of End Zone you know CA you know you you'll kick the ball out of the end zone you know like you don't want to put the ball to where they get a shorter field you know you you you know with I mean with a Patrick Mahomes you you won't kick the ball out of I'm sorry I said that wrong with Patrick Mahomes you'll kick the ball had him return the field so you can get him in a pin him in a 20 or something like that but when you're playing against a a Young quarterback you put them on 30 and make them say hey man go go drive down the field and score I can see that man yo another guy in the game I saw Dylan L I want to see Dylan L play with some of the ones I don't think that he kind of got the best situation he got a lot of carries he didn't get the best situation right he had a really terrible line and you know a lot of with L man I want to see them really um acclimate Dylan L up with the ones and the twos man I I can't wait against Dallas man to see if that happens man and I thought gon was brought in to be a returner too he has size and speed too I would love to see that man Swift just added my life what's good way said Jack Jones look like a top cornerback we've been looking for yes he does brother yes he does yeah L had no chance with that o line man I didn't get what I wanted to see out of Dylan L because man to be real with you they they really put him in a bad situation real bad situation I didn't I didn't like that man yo C I remember when Tim Brown used to return punts missed the days when we put our dogs back there and let them eat and that's what they're doing with Trey Tucker Trey Tucker is that kind of electric kind of guy I want to see it man I want to see it man what you mean the O the o line matters I didn't listen bro nobody's taking nothing away from Gardner menu there's some people in ra Nation bro and if I'm being honest that they just want Gardner menu to start because one you know there's less of an unknown factor to Gardner meno I don't want to go back to the quarterback talk because that dominated a lot of this show and it's been dominating a lot of people's shows right but let's be for real a lot of y'all like the image of Gardner muu you like the swash buckling you know Outcast with the long hair and you know the greasy hair and you know it reminds you of Kenny Stabler he's not Kenny Stabler bro you know what I'm saying and and to me I'm not buying the Kool-Aid of this mystique and image from a player you know the the the the the image and the game have to match now mattx Crosby has that that Swagger that Raider Swagger he has it in space Jack Jones got that Raider Swagger they definitely have it but their games line up with that and I'm not saying gardeners doesn't but I think there are a lot of people that are rooting for Gardener muu because of that distinct reason and not really being objective and if I'm being objective I want a quarterback who does not turn the football now I'm not gonna sit up here and act like Gardner muu is some bad player he's he started but to be real with you look for me dude I would rather go with the young kid with the higher ceiling right and I like the fact that I have a guy that is on the bench that knows what it's like to be that relief pitcher everybody is not good in that role coming off the bench like I'm gonna give an example like in Dallas is a guy we're gonna play against next week in coopa rush coopa rush is a phenomenal backup do I want to see Cooper Rush every week no like because people go back to that time when Cooper rush started for um Dak Prescott when Dak Prescott was dinged up I think he went like four- one and people were like well damn man Cooper Rush maybe he could be the starter but Dallas was scoring like 21 points a game under Cooper Rush soon as Dak Prescott came back they were scoring 31 points a game it's a reason why Dak is the starter over there right but the thing is is this you know there are certain people that thrive in that role and I think Gardner muu thrives in that role he always has man he always has so you know to me it doesn't bother me having that guy you know sitting there being the person in waiting it doesn't bother me I would prefer that now Gardner muu has been a guy where you know you know 2019 he you know played 14 games 60% completion percentage 3,000 yards 21 touchdowns six picks you know play play pretty well right the next season he had nine games played 16 touchdowns five picks Philadelphia he went back to be the backup uh four touchdowns one interception Philadelphia three touchdowns three picks and in Indie last year he had 15 touchdowns nine interceptions right so Gardner menu is a guy that's a gunsling he can move the football he started he's had some success in his league and I get it I get it I get why some people want him to start right but to me I'm the guy who wants to go with the young player you drafted but at the end of the day May the best man win May the best man win and we're gonna see this week I think I think this job is still up for for freaking grabs man and you know listen May if I did I don't remember saying that he looked bad but what I what I will say is Brittain Brown didn't show me what I wanted to see I'm not gonna say he looks bad kind of running back that is going to come in here and be our starting running back right Britton Brown is a big power back we have a starting power back right I want to see Dylan L because one he's a draft pick from this year and his versatility he's a guy who can wind up live wide he is a guy who brings a different dimension to this offense so that's why my opinion that's what I want to see I didn't say Briton Brown looked terrible I wanted to see more from Britain Brown you know you guys kind of go and run with [ __ ] man Lake show you can't make up the alc man crush shit's a joke if he football and get the ball into the the the hands of The Playmakers I want to got to seize the whole field right I I feel like when I watch Al play I feel like he's a guy that sees the whole field a little bit better man that's just my personal opinion man exactly I would tell you this if muu does win a job he will have to have a career year for this team to make the playoffs yeah I mean look these these Elite both of these guys are going to have to have a care care year you know who else is going to have to have a career year zamir white zamir White's got a look I just want the quarterback that's going to get the ball into the guys hands that to make plays you you don't have to you know we don't have to have Aaron Rogers under Center we got a lot of Playmakers we got a lot of guys you can dump that football off and and they could take it to the house man CL what I'm afraid of is wasted possessions trying to force Fe Adams the ball yeah but look man look this is the difference between Star quarterbacks and pedestrian quarterbacks right you have people that'll say you know and this is one of the problems that I had when when when you know we've had other quarterbacks you say you don't want him to force feed the ball but a guy like Devonte Adams when you have that trust and you have that connection when you have a guy like Devonte Adams it does he could be covered and he's goingon to make the play guys like Devonte Adams Randy Ms star receivers Justin Jefferson you you have to be the kind of quarterback to have the faith in him to give him a chance to make a play it's not all he not he's always going to be double cover you got to throw the football up to him so I don't have any problem with that I think that yo just just as a play caller and as a quarterback you should have it in your mind that yo these amount of plays I am going to Devonte Adams this play is for Devonte because when you got a Hall of Fame Talent like that you have to take advantage of that so I don't mind forcing the football as long as Devonte is catching it and you're not turning the ball over as long as you're doing it within the flow of the game I'm not talking about when all else fell he's triple covered and you just toss it up to him out of nowhere when somebody's wide freaking open but you have there certain guys that you got to have it in your your play calling Packers that they get a certain amount of touches and a certain amount of targets like Brock Bowers is Michael May they're going to have to have that built in I have no problem with that the great thing is is some of these guys we have on this roster they're great in the middle of the field man they're great in the middle of the field so those times when Devonte is blanket covered you got guys over them you got other options and if you're moving the football Devonte is not crying it's just more so I don't want them to not go to Devonte and then he starts crying and that's the reason why you're going to him I want it to be in the flow of the offense like yo we got to get out Devonte we got to go to Devonte we have to come out get him going early that opens everything up for the rest of the guys on his team yeah with 17 everybody should eat good that's a fact right Dev Royal was I think Tate being a big ALC supporter will factor in bottom line I think
