MAJOR SURPRISE: Raiders FINAL 53-Man Roster Projection Before NFL Cut Day

Raider Nation what's going on it's Mitchell Rens here host of the Raiders report and this is my final Las Vegas Raiders 53 man roster projection I figured Antonio Pearson Tesco would probably make some Cuts today or Some Cuts going to be rolling in here pretty soon so I wanted to get this video out today I know I'm at the at home Studios but Today's Show is presented by Panda sub so if anybody show so I'm just going to tell you this right now I've been sitting here at my studio battling what the heck I'm going to do with this 53 man because I've doing this show for a long time I'm not kidding you this was by far the most difficult final roster projection that I have ever had to do and this team I I feel bad for AP and Tesco because they're going to be letting go of some good players so what I did today was I built the 53 man that I thought made the most sense and I'm going to kind of have to go through and explain why I did a few things the way that I did but the NFL roster cutdown day is on August 27th it's on Tuesday at 4 pm eastern time so the Las Vegas Raiders have to get right now their 91 players you got to get that all the way down to 54 the reason why they're at 91 you got to get down to 54 is because they have David agoa the international pathway program player so he's automatically going to make it so usually NFL teams only allowed to have 90 you got to get down to 53 that's why it's called a 53 man but when you see the Raiders roster they're going to end up keeping 54 cuz they're allowed to because of a Goa but a Goa is just going to get put on that practice squad they're allowed to have 17 players on their practice squad where everybody else that doesn't have an international pathway program player is allowed to have 16 tomorrow on the Raiders report I'm going to go and like break down some videos as well I'm thinking about doing a roster projection on that so just stay tuned but make sure you're subscribed there's going to be tons and I mean tons of players getting cut I mean you got to almost move on from 40 guys in the next 48 hours so I promise every time the Raiders make a roster move until that roster cut down day I got you updated so the way that I'm going to do this I'm going to go from one and work my way all the way down to 53 I usually start on the off the side of the football and then I go down to the defense but like I said I did this time something I've never done before and I think it's going to surprise a lot of people and it's right here from the jump the Raiders quarterbacks I'm only keeping Garder muu and oconnell I'm not going to keep any other QBs for me in order to keep the other players that I want on this roster those are the only two quarterbacks I'm going to keep and some of are like man that's kind of surprising Mitch you also got to look at the new NFL practice squad rule on game day you're allowed to elevate a quarterback from your practice squad and it doesn't count against your 53 man the reason why that I'm doing this is because quite frankly there's a lot of other players that I thought deserve to make the roster and it's not that I don't care about you know keeping Carter Bradley or Nathan Peterman but they're realistically that's a coin flip to me and I know that some people want to keep Carter Bradley because he's young and experienc but then there's also that other side of they want to keep Nathan Peterman because of his ability to execute that Luke getsy offense if I'm the Raiders I go all right I'm not going to keep either of them but I would love to have both of those guys on the practice squad because realistically I don't think that Carter Bradley gets claimed I don't think that Nathan Peterman gets claimed and if either one of those guys gets claimed then you just pick up the phone and you go hey Carter I'd like to bring you back hey Nathan I'd like to bring it back there's just other players and I like I said I'm going to dive into them here in a second of who I think deserves to make this roster so Gardner vry aan okono that's one and two then you go to the running back position I'm going to keep zamir white Alexander Madison Amir Abdullah and Dylan lby so that's three four five and six no real surprises there I know Britton Brown got some action I know also sinceer mccor got a little action I'll tell you this though Dylan lby he did not look good in that final preseason game and I I would imagine the coaching staff's pretty unhappy that he put the ball on the ground I don't think you know I've seen some people speculating on are they going to move on from him I don't think that they're going to move on from lby I know that they drafted him in the sixth round but I was expecting a little bit more and you have to admit that preseason show was a little bit lackluster from the wide receiver standpoint I have Devonte Adams seven jacobe Meyers eight Trey Tucker nine DJ Turner who did not play in that final preseason game which I made a video about three weeks ago saying DJ Turner is the lock to make this roster and him not playing in that final preseason game proves that then I know the Raiders are very high on Christian Wilkerson so for that reason like one of the reasons why I was only able to you know keep two QBs cuz I think they're going to keep Wilkerson and I got to be a man of my word here tyri mallister has to make this roster what he showed in that final preseason game and when you have an athlete like that you can use it on special teams you can use that 4-3 speed I think you could use him in the punt return you can use him in the kick return game but like realistically you're going to use him more as a gadget player when Trey Tucker when DJ Turner if they do end up needing a breather you bring mallister in to do some pre- snap motion and even if you're not going to put the ball in his hands I think you have to be able to respect the athleticism that he was able to show and I'm a what more do you want for a player fighting for a job to me Tyreek mallister needs to make this team and if you agree with that statement I want you to click that like button right now but because of Tyreek mallister making it again I had to get really really interesting with this 53 man and one of the things was not keeping that other quarterback but again it's cuz I can Elevate one on game day let's not go to the tight end position I got Brock Bowers Michael Mayer Harrison Bryant and then Zach Gentry that's 13 14 15 16 I will admit I almost thought about not keeping either Wilkerson or mallister because of their confidence in Brock Bowers but you know that's been a guy who's been battling a sore foot and I know that they want to do a lot of two tight end sets so because of that again I'm going to keep four tight ends on this roster then we go to the offensive line Colton Mill Jackson pow Johnson Andre James Dylan PM theer mford those are now we're up to 21 players kept on this team Raiders going to keep DJ glaze they're going to keep Cody white hair Andres Pete's not a lock I'll tell you what he you'd have some serious Stones if you kept Jaylen McKenzie because if I was able to keep a tenth offensive lineman I would have kept the tackle Jaylen McKenzie which I can't even say believe that I'm saying but they obviously wanted to see him he played the second most snaps I want to say on the offensive side of the football in that final preseason game so they were really trying to get a good look at him but uh I I was told by a really good source last week that the Raiders were confident in eight offensive linemen I have them keeping nine and I have them keeping Jordan Meredith the reason why I'm keeping Meredith is he's played well when you actually look at all the PFF grades he's actually the highest graded Raiders offensive lineman right now but it's his ability to play guard and it's his the confidence that he has right now in this coaching St has in him again he's got some of those ties he's got Old Chicago days but Jordan Meredith is going to be that other player because they're concerned about jpj because they know that Cody whiteair hasn't looked all that good andrees Pete struggle with some injury concern so I think when you have those nine players together that gives you the best all around offensive line from a depth standpoint from tackle offensive guard Center bunch of those guys can do a bunch of different things like I would look at it as Cody white Air's your backup center then your backup guards are Jordan Meredith jpj is actually probably technically the real backup center if anything were to happen to Andre James but I'm just hoping that jpj colt Miller you know a lot of positions that we've had some struggles with staying healthy this off season hopefully they were able to stay healthy so right now as it stands I have the Raiders keeping 25 players on the offensive side of the football and I have defensive end and this there's going to be a lot of people that open their eyes about what I'm going to say and again this is what I would do for the 53 man I'm not sitting up there saying exactly I can figure out what AP and Tesco is going to do but to me what the roster that I put together gives us the best chance to win defensive ends Max Crosby Malcolm Coons jius Robinson I thought looked really good and then I'm keeping Charles Snowden those are the four defensive ends I am keeping on this roster I'm going to say it again Max Crosby Malcolm coun Jarius Robinson Charles Snowden I did not stutter I am only keeping four defensive ends on this roster and I know a lot of people are like Mitch that means you're not keeping Tyrie Wilson that's not what it means at all and that's why it's the major surprise on the thumbnail it's why you're going to see Tyrie Wilson but to me if you're looking at this roster you cannot trust Tyrie Wilson to play at defensive end jius Robinson's a better defensive end than Tyreek his Bend his acceleration that's what you're looking for in a player and then quite frankly I think Charles Snowden deserves a shot he's 67 250 he's shown that he's a reliable run Defender and when I look at those defensive ends that I got I go Max can obviously do everything Malcolm to me is a player that you want really only trying to get out for the quarterback jius Robinson show that he has that ability get after the quarterback but then sometimes you need a defensive end that can get a run stop and Charles Snowden in those situations if you just need a little bit of a breather I'm going to put Charles Snowden in that spot so that means Max the players is 26 27 28 29 let's go to the defensive tackles I am keeping Tyree Wilson as the defensive tackle but like in order for this roster that I have put together to make sense I had to do a few little things and you're going to see some of the little things that cuz the surprises aren't done yet in fact we're just getting started Christian Wilkins makes the team John Jenkins makes the team Adam Butler makes the team so that's 33 players as it stands right now but I got to keep a fif defensive tackle and the fifth defensive tackle that I'm keeping is Matthew Butler and it was a player that ended up getting a sack in that game the first sack last week against the 49ers to me you got to keep him over Byron young Nesta Jade Sila Marquan McCall you know some of these younger defensive tackles unfortunately just not going to get it done and if I'm looking at that draft class back in 22 the fifth rounder out of 10 Tennessee and Butler or the or the third rounder and I said uh in that draft CL Byron was drafted last year in 2023 I just had the brain fart of Neil frell Jr um but last season was Byron young you got to have to cut Byron he he's just too slow he doesn't have the motor and for a thing like Antonio Pierce said and it's just stuck in my mind Matthew Butler is going to do exactly what you tell him byrony just clearly doesn't have it but Mitch Byron young got a sack you're right he did get a sack but you can't just look at the box score you got to watch the entire game and it was a rough game for Byron and he ended up getting a sack in that football game so that means I'm going with Matthew Butler here's how I'm going to do this right now if you think that Amari gainor deserves to make this roster I want you to spam 53 down below because I have to do something if Amari Gainer is going to make this squad I was talking to Amari yesterday I messaged Tyreek mallister as well and you know I got to do a better job of going if I'm going to make a show saying that Tyreek mcer deserves to make this squad Amari Gainer deserves to make this Squad how am I going to do a better job of a host here to help those guys be able to live their dream so to me I want the nation right now to spam 53 and since I said that those guys deserve to make it that's what I did today I put them in this 53 man roster so you already saw Tyreek mallister so then my linebackers I'm going to keep us Roberts Blain that's 35 Divine Diablo 36 Luke Masterson 37 I'm keeping a lot of linebackers here which again I can't believe I'm going to do but the only way that it makes sense is if you let me explain it 37 is Masterson he didn't play in that final preseason game which tells me again Antonio Pierce said if you don't play in that game you're you're essentially good to me so that means he means Luke's Masterson's good Tommy ikenberg he's good they drafted him this year that's 38 Amari Bernie did not play in that final preseason game which means guess what he's good at 39 and then Amari Gainer at number 40 so you're saying Mitch you're keeping six linebackers you can't look at it as linebackers I think in this day and age of football you have to look at us players that are also going to help you on special teams Tom McMahon what he showed me this offseason was he wants to use a lot of linebackers on special teams in that new kickoff return rule so if I'm looking at that I'm looking at us going okay Roberts Blain Divine the ablo Luke Masterson right now are probably the players that I have the most confidence in going out there and playing linebacker Masterson more from a coverage standpoint ikenberg if you're looking for the Run stopping but I'm telling you this right now if Amari Gainer does make this 53 man you can say bon voyage one player that I really wanted the Raiders to keep last season was McLendon Curtis McLendon Curtis was the player that I thought legitimately could have competed with Greg van rot and to be a starting Right Guard Curtis they put him on the practice squad and guess what get swept up washed away and now he's a starting offensive lineman or at least competing for a starting offensive spot with the Seattle Seahawks I don't want another McLendon Curtis I know he's a udfa and to me if there's any coach that's going to understand why you got to keep a player like gayner it's a udfa linebacker like Antonio Pierce because what Gainer showed it showed a lot of Heart It showed a lot of grit out there he was able to go sideline the sideline and that's a player that again I'm willing to bet on and here's going to be the hot take if I'm going to keep Amari Gainer I'm going to try to trade away Divine Diablo where if you told me I can get a six round pick which is probably what Diablo would end up going for in a trade you give me a six round pick in next year's draft you let Roberts Blaine go out there you let him go out there then with some sort of combin a Tommy ikenberg Amari Gainer Luke Masterson because what a Gainer showed you as a udfa in one year I would be willing to bet on that guy that he's going to get better and better and better throughout the year and for a player that we had drafted or graded in the fifth round I think Amari Gainer is going to be a player very similar like an Ivan Pace Jr from Cincinnati last year a dude that we wanted the Raiders to draft ended up becoming a udfa went with Minnesota and now he's a starting linebacker on the Vikings Amari gain deserves to make it with Roberts uh with with Divine Diablo becoming a free agent next off season and the way that the Raiders drafted the way that Gainer played I'd be willing to move on from divine right now a player that has struggled at times but he's a player that has flashed you trade him for a six you keep those five other linebackers and then you keep rocking and rolling here with this roster but then somebody's going to be like well then we're going to be one guy short you still have 34.5 million in salary cap space I would entertain the idea of going out and adding a few more players so here we go and one of the players that I would would consider adding for the Raiders if I'm going to do that again if I'm going to trade away Divine I'm going to keep that six round pick then what I'm going to do is I'm going to add a corner and because I say that I'm not keeping Brandon facon on this team Brandon facon was injured all last off season Antonio Pierce spoke to the media said that fa was a hard player to evaluate and this is a team that I know they want another veteran corner but it's also a team that really likes young veteran Corner talent and they want to use some of those Y Young Veterans again on the new kickoff return rules on the punt return rules now like not new punt return rules but more on special teams so at corner I got Nate Hobbs Jack Jones jakori and Bennett the Cameron Richardson MJ devenshire the other reason why that I'm confident that this team could only keep five cornerbacks is because if you saw in the final week of preseason and it was uh it's been reported that this Raiders team is confident in Isaiah paulau to potentially play slot corner so I would look at the way that I'm about to talk about Isaiah paulau is the exact same way that I would kind of talk about a player like Tyrie Wilson where a player like Brock Bowers when I talk about Bowers you think of him as a wide receiver tight M when I talk about Tyreek Wilson you think about him as a defensive end defensive tackle we got to start talking about Isaiah poau as being a safety cornerback because that's how this team's looking at it so that's why I'm keeping only five corners I'm keeping only five corners on this roster because you also got to consider that I'm going to keep Isaiah Paul Lal which now puts us at Nate Hobs is at 41 Jack Jones 42 jacorian Bennett 43 de cam Richardson 44 MJ devenshire at 45 the safeties I'm keeping EPS Merrick Isaiah pamal I'm going to keep Trey Taylor at safety and then to me the other safety that just showed more and I know Chris Smith ended up getting an interception in that final preseason game but I'm going to keep Jaden Grant I'm going to keep Jaden Grant that's going to be number 50 to me as being that extra player that you know I think show just a lot more in coverage and what do I want I want a safety that can cover better than what Chris Smith does to me I'm going to keep Jaden Grant and because I'm keeping the five corners I'm going to keep five safeties but again you look at Isaiah paulau as that hybrid player which I think is something that they would do I will admit though based off of every single player that I have kept here throughout this roster if I got to cut somebody first the first players that I'm considering cutting the first player I would do is Jaden Grant after Jaden Grant then it would be Tyreek mallister would be how I would look at that and then to me it would probably end up being uh a dude like Amari Gainer then we're going to round it out with Daniel Carlson AJ Cole and Jacob bobin Moyer that was exhausting it was difficult but I got to know down in the comments section what do you guys think of my 53 man who I leave off great it for me if you can it was tough I had to make some decisions and
