Raiders Rumors & MAJOR CONCERNS Before Chargers Game + Team Captain Predictions

Raider Nation what's going on it's Mitchell RS here host of the Raiders report and coming up here we're going to talk about some of the major rumors and concerns honestly even questions that I have going into the Raiders week one game up against the Chargers which crazy enough is about six days away I can't wait for football to be back and if you're like me I can't wait to take down the Chargers smash that like button not only are we going to talk about some of the biggest concerns we're also going to look at some of the Raiders Captain predictions I anticipate that Antonio peers here in the next 48 hours is going to announce who the Raiders captains are so at the end of today's show I'll give you my predictions on the offense defense and on special teams let's get to the first concern it's going to be around Brock Bowers and I know that AP last week said that he wasn't like overly concerned about it and I made a video saying like AP made it seem like he was if AP is not worried maybe we shouldn't be worried and that they're just taking a little bit slow with this foot injury but then again for us to be able to go out there against our division Rivals I want us to be at 100% % strength and for a player that we drafted at 13 overall that's somebody that this team is really considering is going to be a big time focal point of the offense with 12 personnel and I know that if browers is unavailable I have confidence in Michael Mayer I have confidence in Harrison Bryant who are two very good backup tight ends but you want to be full strength you want to be giving your quarterback the most you possibly can and I really want to see this team get off on the right foot starting out one and0 and then going playing the Ravens compared to starting an 0 and one and playing the Ravens in Baltimore two very very different things and quite frankly I need to see Brock Bowers out there on that practice field on Wednesday to just help me calm my nerves a little bit let's go to another concern that I have and it's Jackson pow Johnson is he going to play another dude that Antonio Pierce last week spoke about saying like he's got to get into game shape yes they're going to have some practices to kind of get this thing going but we've been waiting around waiting around and you know we've been told oh jpj is going to be okay or we've heard you know he's battling some things for me we cannot afford to put Cody whitehair out there on our starting lineup up against Joey Bosa up against c ma the Chargers are going to try to do everything in their power to get in the face of Gardner mchu I hope our offensive line is up for the task colon Miller according to all reports has looked pretty damn good I have confidence in Andre James but you know then you got D mford hopefully that one ends up working out you can't have another six sack game like our right tackles did last season then you got to hope that Dylan Palm's going to be able to play a solid game and he was playing in the fourth preseason game up against the 49ers maybe there's some concern or not against the ners excuse me up against the Cowboys maybe there's some concerns there I think also though you have to consider the offensive line at its peak which I believe I believe it's the offensive line at its peak is Colt Miller Jackson Powers Johnson Andre James Dylan pal theer mford I want to go into week one healthy the fact that I don't know if we're going to have jpj out there and you're going to put white hair who has not been good in the preas season that to me is a little bit concerning though I would actually hope you know I'll bring up that next concern here after I ask this question who's going to play more snaps week one this going to be the pin comment here on today's show which snaps for the Raiders the answer I'm going to go with here for week one is I am going to end up going with Bowers to me Bowers is going to be the player that I'm more confident plays right away and ends up starts I want jpj to be the dude that's out there and I want Jackson pow Johnson to get those reps but if he's not in 100% game shape then I'm going to consider the fact that I'm going to go with Brock Bowers getting the more snaps all right let's go to the next topic because a lot of my concerns are on that offensive line and you know we're going to talk about andr Pete a player that I think the Raiders wanted to put out offensive tackle but like I think we got to just be able to realize he's not he just doesn't have the footwork he doesn't have the first step he's just getting up there in age but I do still think that he could be a reliable left guard quite frankly like I think playing the guard position and the offensive tackle position is obviously extremely different but I'm kind of getting annoyed a little bit with certain Raider fans that are like oh he's just old he can't do it just cuz you can't do it at a Tackle Spot doesn't mean that you're not good enough to play guard and I'd actually rather have Andres Pete play left guard starting left guard over Cody whiteair I would I'm not afraid to say it white hair gives you no upside andr Pete at least played at a pro bowl level or can at least play at a lower level Pro Bowl level I hope that Antonio Pierce James Craig the Raiders in general they do the right thing and they consider kicking Andres Pete over there to left guard I'll also say this you know and I kind of said it earlier where Dylan porum are the Raiders confident in him I'm I'm actually genuinely curious if the offensive line that we start this season with even if it's 100% healthy is what it looks like at the end of the year Dylan parm is going to be an interesting player to keep an eye on whether or not he keeps that starting gig do they decide to put jpj on the right side to keep Andres Pete at the left side could they put Andress Pete who's really never played Right Guard to my knowledge in his what eight nine 10 year career maybe they consider putting him over there but pm to me is super super on high alert of he needs to step it up because he was again playing on that fourth quarter of that preseason game against the Cowboys and I think that that spoke a lot of volumes of what exactly the Raiders see in a player like parum all right coming up here I got two more major concerns before the Chargers game and it's what are the Raiders going to do I wanted them to kick him inside if we're going to do this experiment the entire season then to me you need to be able to go out and add another Edge rher I was really liking what I saw of generus Robinson I just also realized that this is a new feature on my computer so I guess every time I do this no no maybe I get thumbs up only sometimes um but with Tyree Wilson you know if they're going to kick him into the inside to me then you need another Edge rher and I want Tyrie to work out I've been a believer in Tyrie like the upside is absolutely there to me and I'm glad that he's still a member of this team not that I really ever thought that he was going to get cut it was more the trade conversations but the Raiders right now you know you got 27.4 million in salary cap space it's the fifth most in the National Football League and you're kind of just sitting around with it you're kind of waiting on for what like either to me you either go out and get yourself another Edge rher which I put out a video yesterday the top three agent targets that the Raiders should look at after roster Cuts there's at least you know there's a there's a defensive tackle in there that I would consider no doubt about it there's a corner in there that I definitely would like the Raiders to look at but to me you either got to do two things you either got to make some contract extensions with guys like a Roberts Blain Nate Hobbs Marcus EPS Trevon Merrick Malcolm Co because what you can afford to have happen is you go into next off season and you have some of your major star players getting ready to hit that free agent market and if you wait until free agency it's going to cost you a lot more than what it does now but then you're also not going to go out and spend any of that salary cap money because what like what's the situation we're in right now this to me is a team that needs to win football games right now and I know the quarterback concern is there but then what you're not going to extend any of these guys and then you're going to go into next off season and what happens if you can't draft another quarterback what happens if you have to go out and spend a lot of money on the QB position my point is we've kind of been waiting and waiting and waiting for them to do something and I'm a little bit concerned that nothing's happened and not even so much going out and getting a free agent if you're not going to go out and get a free agent then let's extend some of these players right now that players that you know are going to be back the top two guys that I would do this with are Travon merri and Roberts blame safety positions a little bit cheaper linebacker positions a little bit cheaper that's the easy route to do but what you cannot afford is to try to do all of this at the very very end of the season and then try to make sure everybody comes back that kind of reminds me of your professor walks in the very first day of college right maybe it's high school I don't know what it is and they go I don't care what you do all semester this is due this date this is due this date this is due that date and our final projects due at the end of the season and you wait until the entire year's over to do everything at once I don't want that to happen the Raiders could have done a few extra things I think this off season and yeah I'm not going to lie it's a concern of mine coming up though let's get into the Raiders Captain projections before I do though chugs and I are going to be which is crazy in North Carolina four captains on offense you had Jimmy garoppo Josh Jacobs Colt Miller Devonte Adams three captains on the defensive side of the football and Crosby EPS Robert SP and then AJ Cole and Daniel Carlson from the special team standpoint it's going to remain the same I mean I don't really see why you would possibly switch it up it's going to be AJ Cole it's going to be Daniel Carlson I saw a picture of those two guys the other day and like Step Brothers it was whoever made that shout out to you we might have to make a t-shirt or something around that on the offensive side of the football I'm going to go with Gardner muu he won the quarterback job and if he wins the starting QB job then to me the way the NFL works is that's usually your captain and I can't really blame the Raiders for going with that also I'm going to keep colon Miller Devonte Adams there's no reason to really not keep those guys as captains if the Raiders wanted to consider some other people for offense I do think Aiden oconnell you could have a situation where the Raiders named two quarterbacks captains because I'm telling you this right now that team does look at Aiden as a leader on that team and I know that for a fact I think another Sleek like sleepy one jacobe Meyers Antonio Pierce loves him like thinks he's a great dude which he is a great dude he's that player coach mentality he's their emergency quarterback but jacobe just does all the things that I think Antonio Pierce preaches and he just comes in Humble guy does his job another name that I'll throw out there is Andre James just from certain things that you know I think I've have been told over the past year or so two years that offensive line I think does really look up to Andre James maybe even more so than Colton Miller on defense because defense is where this team's going to win football games Max Crosby Marcus EPS Robert Blain there's no reason in my opinion to change any of those Captain candidates now the other name that you're going to throw in there to me is Christian Wilkins if you're going to spend four years what8 $110 million 87 something guaranteed you only spend that type of money if that's somebody that you believe can come in be a captain and totally change that culture so Christian Wilkins is the answer there others that I would consider Nate Hobs and Trevon merri would be the other names that I least throw into that mix and sleeper John Jenkins just cuz he's uh old veteran at defensive tackle so to me those are your Raiders captains for the 2024 season again I anticipate that Antonio Pierce mentioned something here soon also Alex and I are going to go look for cars and I was told I was only allowed to make this video 15 minutes because we're already running late and right now I'm looking
