HOPE Brock Bowers Injury Isn’t Serious: Final Raiders Training Camp News

Raider Nation what's going on I know it's late but a late night practice in Las Vegas means another late night video here on the Raiders report I'm Mitchell Ren and coming up here on today's show we're going to go through all the injury news because there's a lot of I'm going to use air quotes here injury news uh to talk about some of the players that essentially did not practice today and then near the end of today's show I'll kind of go through all the big time talking points of the the most notable things that happened at practice today some of the notes that I received as well from people at practice now I know when you clicked into this video you probably saw like hope he's okay we're going to talk about Brock Bowers we're going to talk about Jackson Powers Johnson because Antonio Pierce is hoping that one of those players is able to go for week one but before we get into Today's show I'm going to challenge the nation out there and I've been having a lot of people since I've been making these videos they're like hey I want to see more of Chuck now we're doing a little I don't know renovation here at the at the house so Chuck here knows that I have his favorite thing in the world okay this thing right here is a greeny if you don't know what it is cleans your dog's teeth uh and he absolutely loves them I give him one of these every single day before I go to work and I told Chuck if this video gets 2,000 likes I know it's a lot of likes but if this video gets 2,000 likes he's going to get two of these tomorrow so he's going to get one right now for being a good boy and if this video gets 2K likes I promise you this I'm going to send the video of him getting to on Instagram Mitchell Ren 365 don't do it for me do it for Chuck so so what we got talking about today first thing is that AP is hopeful and I put out a video a few hours ago when Antonio Pier spoke to the media about this but he is hopeful that Jackson Powers Johnson is going to be able to play week one up against the Los Angeles Chargers basically said that like you know he's got to get out there he's got to get the Reps in he's a rookie the fact that he hasn't really been able to you know practice at an NFL level is probably just concerning for just about any type of head coach out there but especially for a team that wants their offensive line that they drafted in the second second round to go out there be physical be a player that they were hoping to be but the fact that he said that he's hopeful that he's able to go out there and start I I still think that that's Antonio Pier saying like I think he's going to be able to go out there and start now again right now they got Cody white here working as the starting left guard but for AP to say that he's hopeful that he's playing week one I'm going to hope that and wish that into expectation as well uh another thing that a said that he was talking about the wide receiver depth said that DJ Turner is good like he literally was like DJ Turner like we don't got to worry about him he's a lock to make it which three week or two weeks ago I made a video saying that DJ Turner is a lock to make this roster which I think just kind of goes again to show you confirming that if Antonio Pierce is saying it there's probably a good chance that that one's going to happen and it is like it's not a surprise he's going to be our wide receiver for here but also brought up guys like you know Christian Wilkerson mentioned the game like a guy like Jaylen gon as well which I thought was kind of interesting he also said something which really stuck out to me about Matthew Butler and you know this is the time of the year where you I just did a video earlier today around surprise cut candidates and one of the surprise cut candidates that I had was Byron young and now the fact that I heard Antonio Pierce said you know he feels like Matthew Butler is a player where it's starting to click I like to hear that obviously Butler was a player drafted in the fifth round out of Tennessee he's in his third year and that's what he said he's like it's the the third year you never know when it clicks for certain guys but it sounds like it's clicking a little bit the other thing that AP said that really stuck out to me was like if you tell Matthew Butler to do something he's going to do it and that's what I really like I'll also say you know last off seon we made two videos last off season that said Neil frell Jr is not working out with the Raiders don't be surprised if you know they move on from him they traded them like two weeks later we also made a video that don't be surprised if Matthew Butler get cut obviously Butler spent some time on that practice squad last season did not make the 53 man roster so now that to see it this off season and a lot of the people that I talk to especially one of these Raiders players that you know rocks that sea on his chest for him to say that also like Matthew is really starting to take those next steps forward for AP to say it and for a guy that wears that c on his chest to say it I do think it speaks a lot of volumes out there uh the next thing is aan lonnell not going to play you know a lot of people were like oh but anth anonio Pier said that the starters aren't going to play against the 49ers I know that Aiden isn't the starting QB Gardner muu is but like Aiden still has that respect in that locker room and Aiden's not going to play against the 49ers which should not surprise anybody that watches this show so it's going to be the Nathan Peterman Carter Bradley little Shenanigans little show which I'm actually excited to see because you know Bradley in that first pre-season game ran the ball or handed the ball off nine straight times and they let him throw it a little bit last week against the Cowboys and this could be you know kind of an interesting quarterback battle again where we're looking at who's going to be that qb3 I still think that peterman's going to get the nod because of his experience with gatsy but hey man if if Bradley goes out there and does his thing and Peterman struggles quite frankly I hope both guys get the opportunity to make an NFL roster uh Colton Miller today after practice really cool video was talking about you know just like the new offense talking about like some of the cadences and how much different it is than last season which I I kind of laughed a little bit because if for those of you that followed the show last season you know we talked about how I had a Raiders player reach out to me last year and he was like dude they're literally calling out our plays before we even call them and you know it was no secret that Josh McDaniels was about as vanilla as you could get Bo hardigree was about his vanilla as you can get right like Mick hard Mick Lombardi about as vanilla as you're going to get so Miller with a grin on his face is like yeah like it's a lot better this season he expects that he's going to be ready to go by week one so a lot of good news there the injury though that's like you know like just genuinely being honest with yall is a little bit concerning to me is Brock Bowers he hasn't practiced since Saturday or yeah hasn't really been on the field since Saturday and he missed the Cowboys preseason game and then hasn't practice all week he's dealing with a sore foot and obviously Bowers is going to be a big part of what we're trying to do this season so this is going to be the pin comment here on today's show and I I have a genuine question of from a scale of 1 to 10 one you're not concerned at all 10 you are freaking out a little bit here what's your level of concern with Jackson power or Jackson um as you can tell I'm tired what's your level of concern with Brock Bowers and his injury scale from 1 to 10 let me know down in the comments section How concerned you are my concern level is a three and I know that he hasn't practiced since Saturday but based on what I've been told they're just being overly cautious with him and especially they're being overly cautious this week this is the final preseason week the fact that AP was able to name that starter you kind of tells like where they think that their roster is and there was a lot of players today that got some rest like Robert Spain Nate Hobbs they didn't practice today one person that didn't practice today that I'm just going to tell you right now I'm not trying to create any drama but it's something to keep an eye on is Tyrie Wilson he did not practice today and you know when I think about covering the NFL as long as I've been covering the NFL for when you think about some of the you know the speculation and you know we heard some rumors and chugs and I talked about it on Tuesday when we were live like hey you know the Dallas Cowboys were one of the teams that were showing interest in Tyree Wilson and they were showing interest in a defensive tackle today the Dallas Cowboys went out and they signed lynval Joseph so like you know maybe the Cowboys aren't a team that's as interested in Tyrie I'll reach out to my people tomorrow but like the fact that he didn't practice today I'm going to look at it as being a little bit funky being a little bit weird because he's not somebody to me where deserves a day off he's somebody that I do still thing needs to go out there and fight for a roster spot I don't care if you're a drafted number seven overall I I don't care you got to go out there and you got to be able to prove it to me so for Tyreek Wilson to miss practice I thought that was interesting um another injury to just keep in mind is Brandon facon he didn't practice today so like that's another dude where I don't know when he's ever going to be able to get on the field I don't know when he's going to be healthy enough to get out there but if I'm the Raiders you know and I saw the Brandon faon injury and we'll talk about another player who played a very interesting role today there is a name that I'm going to bring up though his name is Tyler Hall and some of yall probably remember him feel like I got to sneeze real quick um but Tyler Hall was released today by the Philadelphia Eagles if I'm the Raiders and I'm just looking for a little bit more depth and he was released today by the Eagles waved of an injury I would like to be able to bring him in and see what he can do but if you could potentially look at Tyler Hall he's more of a slot guy still be an extra dep person think of him as on the same level as Sam web I think he's better than Sam Webb but Tyler Hall was a player that I really enjoyed covering over the past few seasons but bottom line This cornerback depth is interesting my plan tomorrow with chugs is to put out a video brighten early for you guys about some free agent targets that I would look at I might end up doing it live I have yet to decide what I want to do but Tyler Hall is going to be on there but because Brandon fa's injured because Nate Hobs we want Nate Hobs to be great but even he got banged up a little bit in yesterday's practice so like it wouldn't surprise me maybe if they pick up the phone and give some call to maybe an adori Jackson Maybe maybe xaven Howard would be a big phone call but you have 34.5 million in order to do it Tyler hall though is definitely a player that I just want youall to keep in mind all right before we get into some of the things that happened at practice today some of the notes that I just have received uh we're going to break down why I want you all to go out and get some Panda Subs so I always talk about panda subs and you know a lot of times people like oh but Mitch do you actually use the products and yeah I I use them all the time now the especially with milk almond milk skim milk it is so flipping good it's going to blow your mind but some other protein that I like which I talk about a lot my personal favorite out of all the panda Subs protein is their uh wow mint chocolate chip I was going to say I was trying to think of the exact name of it but it's like imagine if you grinded up like Girl Scout cookie mint like cookies and you put it into a protein I'm not kidding you it's that flipping good for this one uh my other rotation that I always keep in I love their creatine I use their creatine all the time and then especially in the summertime especially when I try to like get thinner I run a lot the BCA really help me keep hydrated and you know if you plan on going out to Vegas like I tell people this all the time if I ever go out to Vegas it is a Garen guarantee that I'm taking this out there just so I don't get dehydrated and if anybody saw me last Wednesday at that Raiders open practice I probably had hiccups for two hours it's because I was super dehydrated and I was drinking all day with with zanino and chugs so like you take that stuff you're going to be able to stay hydrated so if you ever need happened at practice today first thing was and you know like there's been a lot of talk about Gardner muu he looked good today and if anybody tells you that he didn't look good today again today wasn't like a super super crazy practice out there but he looked good today and I he did man Aidan oconnell looked good today so like menu though one of the plays that I thought really stuck out was he found Devonte Adams middle of the field really nice route there by Devonte he zigged he zagged found the end zone and good strike by muu probably a better route by Devonte to being able to create that separation but one of the things that I talked about on Monday and one of the things that I released today on an Instagram video was like you know a lot of people out there hitting that panic button on our quarterbacks and I get it we still have one of the worst quarterback rooms in the NFL I'm not going to deny that but like I don't think it's fair to hit the panic button I'm being like oh this offense is never going to be able to get it done we haven't seen the offense yet with Colt Miller Jackson Powers Johnson out there have haven't seen it with Devonte Adams jacobe Myers Brock Bowers Michael Mayer like we haven't seen that and when you see Devonte Adams go out there on the field guess what mchu looks a lot better when devonte's out there uh another note that I got that I thought was really cool this one was from Tashan Reed so I got to give him credit on that one he said Isaiah paulau was playing slot Corner today which I think this just goes to show how much this team loves paau for a player that you know was a safety linebacker hybrid last season now he's playing in the slot a little bit and a a player that when you have a hybrid player like that Patrick Graham I think always does a really good job you know figuring out away and when you go back and look at a lot of these great great Patrick Graham defenses they always find this like weird hybrid player you know you look at a jabil Peppers was a player a you know Julian love was a player to keep in mind so like two dudes that could do a bunch of different things and Isaiah Paul M was definitely one of those but with Nate Hobs missing practice today again he got Bang hanged up a little bit on Wednesday left practice for a short amount of time was able to come back or I shouldn't say Wednesday Tuesday sorry my days are all mixed up some people are going to be like Mitch you need to go to bed you're not wrong I definitely do need to go to bed but Isaiah Pao was working at that slot because Nate Hobs got banged up a little bit yesterday he did a was able to come back out and practice but for tonight they just gave Hobbs the night off though I love the back and forth right now between Hobs and Spain on their Instagram you guys should go check it out it's pretty funny another note that I got today was Alexander Madison is going to get a lot more work than what people are anticipating and like I anticipate a running back by committee because you know Tesco has said that they're going to use two to three running backs uh the Raiders hired Cadillac Williams he was the running back coach last year at Auburn he's always implemented a running back by committee Antonio Pierce has said running back by committee and I think a lot of people just assume that you know zamir White's going to be this Workhorse back and I just don't think that that's going to be the case Zeus is going to get his work but Alexander m is going to be a dude that I think gets more work than what people actually realize and earlier this off season I said he's probably Zeus is probably going to be around 190 carries then you know I was like oh maybe he gets somewhere around 230 the number I'm just going to Contin toly say and sit at is I think zamir is going to be somewhere in that comfortable 200ish carry range where Madison's going to get some work and Madison looks good man like honestly like he looks like he lost a little bit of weight he's got some quick step Amir Abdul's got a good step as well so the fact that both of those guys look pretty damn good and uh I would say it's it's almost cemented now that L's probably the running back four behind air behind Alexander Madison and then also behind zamir white uh the mudford was working with the ones at right tackle it was him and PM doing a lot of work together today and that's usually what the Raiders do when they do some of the offensive line drills that they do you got the right side going one way the left side going the other way uh Cody whiteair was working with the starting left guards DJ glaze was working with the second team mainly at right tackle and based on the I'm just going to tell you the source that I have it's Raiders have confident and eight linemen which I'm going to be putting out a video probably after the preseason game over the weekend of an updated 53 man roster projection based off some of the things that I heard today now again I think sometimes you know practice gets a little bit overblown especially with the final training camp practice that we saw tonight but like confidence-wise they have eight offensive lineman so if there's other certain positions that they want to potentially look at maybe they decide to only keep eight lineman but they only have confident in eight linemen and I was told that it's a pretty obvious eight which I think for a lot of people that follow the show the obvious eight is your starting five which for me I'm still going to say Jackson Powers Johnson's in that starting five Colt Miller jpj Andre Johnson uh go to bed Mitch Andre James Dylan Palm the mford and you got Cody white hair d DJ glaze Andre Pete after that it's a coin flip man like I think after that if they end up keeping another lineman there's I would probably bet on Jordan Meredith but I really think that this is an open battle and if they end up keeping nine it wouldn't even surprise me maybe if they try to go out and sign another free agent which again I I'll try to talk about tomorrow a little bit uh the wide receiver drills today and this was again I was told for the most part was Devonte Adams and jacobe Meers were the one-2 three and four was Trey Tucker and DJ Turner five- six the reason why I wanted to write this down is because when Antonio Pierce spoke to the media today he was talking about that wide receiver battle remember earlier on the show and I was like he said like oh DJ Turner like he's good you don't got to worry about him and then talked about the wide receiver five and six battle now I'm just saying based on the majority of drills that were ran today Christian Wilkerson who I do think ends up making this roster was him and it was Jaylen gon those were the two guys working together a lot when they were doing a lot of wide receiver drills so just something to keep in mind there um I I was told Aiden you know he's still got a lot of confidence he's still staying vocal and you know there's no difference from Aiden's standpoint which I think is another reason maybe you know why Antonio Pierce did what he did where he knows Aiden's got a great head on his shoulders he know Aiden's still going to go out there and do his thing he knows that Aiden has always been faced with you know he's been faced with obstacles and I think when you're as mentally strong as what Aiden is he's going to be able to overcome them but I think it shows his maturity and why Aiden is just so far Advanced behind be Beyond his years when he's got it up here and you know he's still able to go out there and he's still able to be that leader and be that guy do the exact same thing that he was doing last week doing the exact same thing that he's been doing all offseason even though this is Gardner menu's team and eighth piece at it this is Gardner menu's team he's going to be the starting quarterback but you know you got to give you got to give Aiden his flowers for still being able to handle his business and be able to just go out there and do his job and make sure that everybody else around him is still doing their job so Aiden I got to salute you there and the final note that I had here which I just appreciate because again the the text I got was minues leadership is like a quirky and that's the quote quirky dad where you know I almost think like when I think of quirky dad Alex and I a few years ago we watched the show Modern Family and you know like uh the dad in that show is his name is escaping me right now but like that's a quirky dad honestly I think I'm going to be a quirky dad but I think describing menu's leadership ability as Quirky dad uh you know who you are who sent me that shout out to you but I think it's perfect and I'm probably just going to keep calling muu the quirky dad cuz I do think it fits very very well all right man that's the final thing I got for all of
