The 15 BEST Fantasy Football Tight Ends (2024)

Intro all right welcome back to touchdown talks this is going to be the top 15 NFL fantasy tight ends for 2024 let's get right into it at number one for tight LaPorta ends that you should draft in this 2024 season for Fantasy I have Sam leaport with the Detroit Lions lorta is back with the lions at starting tight end after putting up a historic rookie season in which he finished the season as the number one tight end overall he's currently projected by most to be first or second in many cas is first yet again this year on a lion Squad that is poised for Success he was a huge contributor to their success last year he's the perfect type of player that you want for Fantasy he ranked last year he ranked in the top five in routes targets receptions receiving yards touchdowns and end zone targets as well as finishing second on the team for Target share overall so that's exactly what you want for Fantasy you want a player who's going to be consistent I talk about that all the time and with that a lot of the little things that go into being consistent and being good for Fantasy it's all about consistent high volume Target share if that player is getting the ball a ton consistently that is a player that you want they're going to be able to perform at a high level for fantasy and at a level that is predictable enough to where you will be able to rely on them performing at a somewhat predictable rate for you week in and week out so Leora at tight end is perfect for that there's a reason he's number one overall for tight ends depending on your league and what people are feeling he may end up going second overall for tight ends but certainly in my opinion he's quite possibly safe as being the first tight end off the board and as you can see by his average draft position close to the late third round close to the end of the third round if not the fourth round pick him up it'll be a good deal for you then Kelce at number two I have probably one of the most famous tight ends if not the most famous tight end in the league right now may partially because of his his relationship with Taylor Swift of course but Kelsey is also famous just for how good of a tight end he is he's getting towards the end of his career unlike leaport who is very young Kelce is getting towards the end of his career however Kelce has been one of the top tight ends throughout his career including for fantasy and when you have a quarterback in Mahomes you're on the Chiefs that franchise what they've been able to do in the recent years since Mahomes got there and even before Mahomes got there Kelsey was a great tight end for him for a short bit before Mahomes got there and yeah there's no no doubt that kelse is a great player sure he's towards the end of his career and we have seen him slow down in ways he might not be as fast of a player but he's still a player that certainly Patrick Mahomes relies on goes to him a lot and he's very dependable especially in the red zone so he's going to have plenty of opportunities to score touchdowns score points for you and even if he may not be the best tight end anymore for Fantasy he's still in that top three pretty much every year so that's why I've got him at number two on my list and certainly you know his average draft position being higher than Sam leaport is that might be a little bit high in my opinion however in one of my fantasy drafts I was able to actually pick him up already and I believe I got him after uh pick 21 I think I got him close to the beginning of the third round maybe beginning of the fourth round I can't remember but I got him a little later than his average drap position which I felt like was a really great deal so I took him really happy with that pick and you should be confident if you pick Travis Andrews Kelce at number three I have Mark Andrews this is another tight end that has been very consistent throughout his career for Fantasy outside of a few seasons where he's maybe missed some time due to injury or other things like that he's entering his seventh season in the NFL he's still in his prime age for for NFL tight ends he only played 10 games last season due to an ankle injury but in the games that he was in many of those he was pretty close to the best tight end for that week so Mark Andrews another great tight end one of the best year toe and certainly one that you can expect to be pretty dependent as long as he is Engram healthy now at number four I have Evan Ingram for the Jaguars in Ingram's consistent command of Trevor Lawrence's attention led to a career year last year in 20123 in which he finished as the number two overall tight end they have recently lost Calvin Ridley who took up 136 targets last season so in Ingram is again set to have a sizable stake of the target sherff for the Jag Jaguars in 2024 even with some possible regression in targets due to other changes on the offense Ingram should be considered a early worthy tight end for Fantasy as you can see his average draft position among tight ends is actually eighth which I think is you know pretty low for how good of a tight end he was last year and how good I believe he still could be this year again as you can see you're you're looking at late seventh round really as when you could really easily rely on being able to get Ingram so if you want to wait on tight ends waiting for Ingram might be a good pick for McBride you at number five I have Trey McBride with the Arizona Cardinals in 2023 McBride had a bit of a slow start fantasy-wise and consistency wise mainly because he started behind Zack hers who was no longer with the Cardinals and the Cardinals were also missing Kyler Murray towards the beginning beginning of the season but once Zack ZZ went down due to injury and Kyler Murray came in as the quarterback especially through weeks 8 through 18 bride consistently was scoring 20 plus points in a week and he was scoring so well towards the end of the season that he ended up finishing as the seventh overall tight end for Fantasy so that's pretty good especially being that he had a very slow start to the beginning of last season so he should pretty easily be able to outperform what he did last year in my opinion at number six I have Dalton King Kincaid Kade in 2020 in 2023 kingcade showed fantasy managers what he's capable of from weeks 8 through 12 specifically can oper op ated as the starter and he led the bills in targets with 37 targets with both Stefan Diggs and Gabe Davis departing from the bills in the offseason Buffalo is lacking in reliable pass catchers which means that King Kade K could get a higher volume of pass attempts thrown towards him so that could end up boting well for him however there are some additions to the bills that make things a little bit hard to predict they've added Curtis Samuel in free agency and in the second round they drafted Keon Coleman but King Kade should be viewed as a mid-range tight end as a mid mid-range starting tight end for you in fantasy so you should be able to draft him and expect starting tight end value out of him if not really good backup value at number seven I have George KD Kittle George KD finished 2023 as the fifth overall tight end for Fantasy he's currently projected to end up at around 5ifth to 7th in 2024 he like Kelsey is also getting towards the end of his career also like Kelsey one of the most famous tight ends in the league right now but being on the 49ers of course is going to help him as it has been he's a huge part of why they're so successful He commands plenty of attention on that offense and when you're playing for an offensive mind like Kyle Shanahan it's not hard to expect that KD should be able to have a good season similar to what he did last year in Njoku 2023 at number eight I have David and joku for the Cleveland Browns he enters his eighth season this year he has been a top 10 tight end for pretty much a majority of his career or at least had the expectation of being that he finished as the sixth overall tight end in 2023 he is projected to be a mid to low range starting tight end this year one thing I really like when you look at his 2023 numbers is he was very consistent he had a couple games where he was above 20 points but then for the most part every week he ranged anywhere from about 10 to 17 points and many of those being in the upper teams or mid te which is for a tight end especially if they're getting that week in and week out and they're not having a bunch of single digit games that's a really good tight end for for you they might not might not necessarily be winning you games very often but as long as they are consistent like that at tight end they're at least not going to be the reason you lose that week and so in joku I believe is very much a very good mid to low starting tight end pick for you in this year's fantasy Ferguson draft at number nine I have Jake Ferguson he finished as the ninth overall tight end in 2023 for Fantasy he should end up around the same spot this year for Fantasy tight ends he's only in his third season so he's very young but he's already very well established himself as a good reliable fantasy tight end sure he may be a low starting level tight end in fantasy and yes he doesn't have the consistency that you may want in some others but to be honest at this point if you've waited this long in fantasy to draft your first tight end this may just be something you have to deal with unfortunately with tight end that's one of the the difficult things is after the top five or so act asking for any consistency and high production at the same time kind of hard to ask for outout of tight ends not quite as commonly available tight end isn't known to be the most deep position in fantasy so it's certainly one that it can be okay to overdraft tight ends at some point to an extent obviously you don't maybe you don't want to be drafting Sam loraa and Travis Kelce in the very first round or even the second round maybe but certainly if you start seeing your whole League start drafting tight ends you start seeing tight ends fly off the board it might be okay to overdraft one really quick do you want uh now again if you do end up in a situation where Ferguson is the best left on the board take him he should be starting worthy but don't expect to have the best tight end now at number 10 I have Kyle pittz Pitts at tight end for the Falcons now of course Kyle pittz he finished 13th in 2023 for tight ends he's still a younger tight end but every year he's been in the league he's always been one of those players that gets overhyped in my opinion in fantasy every single time people that expected him when he got drafted to be you know he he was one of those players that when he got drafted he was expected to be an instant hit in the NFL people expected that he was going to you know Light It Up in fantasy as well and every year since then those expectations have come back even though he hasn't been able to meet those of course one of the big arguments you'll hear from people that are still buying that hype is that he's been on the Falcons he's never had a great quarterback and at least this year he's now getting Kurt Cousins the Falcons have changed a lot of things made a lot of additions as I mentioned in previous videos so certainly maybe this could be a really good career year even for pits and maybe he actually breaks it into that top 10 of tight ends and becomes really good but that's why I've only got him here at 10 is because I'm not necessarily confident that he's going to be a really good starting tight end for you but he might be worthy of at least starting for someone in the Goedert league at number 11 for tight end I have Dallas SCD with the Eagles he finished 14th for tight end in 2023 he did Miss three games had a handful of good high teen or 20 plus games but he also had a good amount of weeks where he was only between about 5 to 10 so not great then going into number 10 I have Bowers Brock Bowers first rookie and I believe actually the only rookie I have on this list for tight ends one of the more anticipated draft picks in this draft now the difficult thing for fantasy Brock Bowers is that he lands on the Raiders who have an uncertain offense not expected to be super crazy good they do have Devonte Adams they have jacobe Meyers they've named Gardner mchu as their starting quarterback which to be fair Gardner mchu not the best quarterback out there certainly but if you look at his stats Gardner mhu at times is really pretty similar to Baker Mayfield and certainly Baker Mayfield hasn't always been the best quarterback either but when they are at their best those are both quarterbacks that actually can play for playoff contenders or at least teams that can get into the playoffs I should say not saying that that's what the Raiders are going to do this year but as far as instilling confidence for Brock Bowers and fantasy again I don't know that I would Place much on it there's a lot of unknown here being that he is a rookie and that he's going to be on the Raiders but that may be a reason to like him he's a rookie so it's very easy to imagine a future where Brock Bowers jumps onto the scene and headlines are all talking about how great of a tight end the Raiders have landed and who knows he could end up becoming their star and in that case if you were to draft him you would be rewarded highly but that's why I have him here at number 12 if I'm going to draft him at all I'm going to draft him as a backup tight end with the Hope in his upside becoming a Schultz factor at number 13 I have Dalton Schultz with the Texans he finished as the 10th overall tight end in 2023 so that was starting worthy he is getting drafted a little bit lower which I agree with uh his projection by ESPN is even lower than what his average draft position is for tight ends so I I think that's fair I think he's I think he's got a chance to be a good tight end but certainly not one that I'm going to start certainly not one that I'm going to be drafting with the expectation that he is my starter in my opinion Belton Schultz if anything maybe draft him in the very late rounds or hope that he doesn't go dra get drafted at all and maybe you pick him up off the waiver wire after week one week two if you decide that you need him for your tight end position or for a flex position even you could pick him up or even just to St him on your bench but we're into that territory now where Schultz one of those players and those to follow we're into that territory where these players are ones that you know keep in mind they're certainly worthy to keep an eye on but I wouldn't really prefer to be drafting these players at least certainly not until very late in the draft now at number 14 I have Cole KT Kmet with the Bears did finish eighth overall for tight ends and as a Bears fan of course I do want to put him higher I wish I could wish I could believe in that and I do see that as very much an upside possibility I honestly think as far as actual talent at tight end in the league I still think that KT is a top 10 tight end easily in this league but the problem is with Chicago the offense so much new stuff new quarterback in Caleb Williams tons of new weapons a huge array of weapons in Keenan Allen d J Moore Romo dun Swift so they they've just got a lot of tools going on one thing that could end up helping K is that young quarterbacks often do like to T often do like to lean on their starting tight end so if Caleb Williams ends up being the same that could end up helping KT's numbers and obviously as a Bears fan I'm hoping for that and as a fishy manager who might be tempted to pick him up in later rounds I certainly hope for that upside but again KT being here at this point in the list I would suggest you only draft him later rounds as maybe a backup with the hopes that he has starter upside up next at number 15 rounding out Freiermuth the top 15 tight ends I have for you I have Pat fouth he missed a lot of time in 2023 and had a bad quarterback situation with the Steelers that's why his point totals for last season are so low but even coming into this year Steelers quarterback room lot of questions they've got Russell Wilson Justin Fields who knows who is going to be starting for the majority of the Season how that's going to go no matter which quarterback it's not like the situation there on offense even outside of the quarterback room Steelers just have not had a really a functional offense in a long time so that can be tough for Fantasy value for really any other offensive players and firemouth no difference he is more of a player that certainly I wouldn't advise to draft I would advise let him go undrafted and maybe week to week during the season if you need a tight end because your tight end's injured or on a bye or something hasn't worked out with a player maybe you can pick him up and use him more as a streaming option from week to week but otherwise I wouldn't suggest drafting Pat Honorable Mentions fouth and then I do have two quick honorable mentions first will be Tyler Conlin he's been a good tight end at times in his career I've used him as a streaming streaming tight end in the past and he's won me some games so definitely want to shout him out there for that I think he's got that value certainly this year especially if Aaron Rogers is able to come back in play like the old Rogers of old or even 75% of that and able to stay healthy Conlin's got a chance to certainly do better than what he did last year and again that's not necessarily worthy of being drafted if so maybe in the very late rounds but certainly possibly a very good streaming option and then the last good streaming option I wanted to shout out of course is tesm Hill he's been this way ever since he came into the league and kind of became a tight end with the Saints of course tesm Hill came in having been a quarterback at BYU now a tight end gets used in all sorts of things in Wildcat formations as a pass catching tight end as a running quarterback all that kind of stuff trick plays he gets used in all sorts of ways in goal line situations you name it there are a lot of situations like that where he gets used in in unique spots which can in some weeks yield Tamm Hill really high fantasy points but then it also means that he's very inconsistent he'll have weeks where he gets no points or maybe 1.1 point for example and then other weeks where he scores 30 it's just it's hard to predict with Tamm Hill but depending on the defense week to we that he's going up against the matchup depending on the health of other players on the Saints roster Tamm Hill is certainly a really good tight end that you can stream in week to week depending on
