Top 10 Fantasy Football DEFENSES to DOMINATE Your League!

Intro all right welcome back to touchdown talks this is the final episode in this fantasy ranking series for 2024 that I have for you this will be the top 10 NFL fantasy defenses SL special teams of course for defense SL special teams in fantasy you want to check your specific league for specific rules and and scoring but in general it is mostly defense with this position the Special Teams is added on there because your that that unit can often get points again depending on your Le there can be some other things added but the most common reason why that special teams is added on there is because in field goal attempts if your team's special teams defense blocks a field goal attempt or an extra point that can convert to fantasy points for you so that's why the Special Teams part is on there because it is still really special teams but it is also a defensive play so that's why that gets included in there for these defensive units and fantasy so without further Ado let's get into this top 10 starting with our number one who Browns are the Cleveland Browns the Cleveland Browns finished as the number three defense and special teams last season averaging 9.8 points per game for Fantasy while ranking top 10 in sacks and in interceptions this is an aggressive scheme they have under defensive coordinator Jim Schwarz one that has held opposing offenses to only 4.5 yards per play lowest in the league they're led by Elite pass rusher miles Garrett the Browns should again be an elite Fantasy Defense in Cowboys 2024 now at number two on this list I have the Dallas Cowboys the Cowboys defense special teams finished tied for first in fantasy in 2023 tied with the Ravens extending a three-year strong streak for them on defense that has coincided with them having dominant Edge rusher Micah Parsons the Cowboys forced 26 turnovers last season and scored seven touchdowns on defense so that contributed a lot to their fantasy value and Now we move into the number three 49ers spot on this list of the top 10 defenses and the number three goes to the San Francisco 49ers while they may not be as staunch of a defense in previous years the 49ers defense remained a formidable unit in 20123 tallying 48 sacks and 22 interceptions while allowing the fourth fewest completions of 40 plus yards with only five the 49ers defensive line has experienced a lot of turnover this offseason so that could impact them whether that will be a negative or positive impact over all we'll have to just wait and see they did finish eighth overall for defense in 2023 in fantasy and they're currently projected to finish at around Ravens 5ifth now at number four on this list I have the Baltimore Ravens the Ravens are going through a bit of a transition period they lost defensive coordinator Mike McDonald who is now the head coach for the Seahawks but they do have new defensive coordinator Zack or and the unit last season averaged 10.1 fantasy points per game which as I had mentioned earlier was tied with the Cowboys while they also led the league in sacks and in points allowed per game only allowing 16.4 per game they finished tied first with Dallas in 2023 and they're currently projected to finish at fourth in Jets 2024 now at number five on this list I have the New York Jets defense the Jets defense finished fourth in defense in 2023 averaging 9.4 points per game the Jets defense was great despite its offense not being good at all the def the team allowed 2923 yard per game which was the third fewest in the league and also gave up only 20.9 points per game which ranked 12th so they should be a good defense and with the assumably much better offense they should have this year with Rogers being healthy and the other parts they have there if the offense can be more helpful to the team that should possibly help out the defense more give them more rest time and allow that defense to be more potent against their Steelers opponents now at number six I have the Pittsburgh Steelers the Steelers checked in as the number 11 defense last season in fantasy and they finished outside just outside the top 10 for sacks and interceptions but still did pretty well at both of those the Steelers feature one of the best Edge rushing combos in the NFL with TJ watt who had a league best 19 sacks and with Alex heith and they have in addition linebacker Patrick Queen who was with the Ravens so that should Elevate their the second level of that defense they also have Minka fix Patrick anchoring the secondary and they have a high pressure oriented scheme that can keep the pocket hot and keep pressure high on opposing quarterbacks the Steelers are projected to finish sixth overall for Fantasy defenses in 2024 now at number seven I have the Dolphins Miami Dolphins defense they finished seventh overall for defense in 2023 and they are projected to finish seventh in 2024 they averaged 8.2 points per game in Fantasy last season they ranked third in sacks and 11th for yards allowed they do have a new defensive coordinator and do have did have a lot of turnover as far as defensive players in starting positions this offseason so they are going to look a bit different so we'll just have to wait and see how that ends up impacting their fantasy value their projected value keeps them at seventh so they should they are believed to be just about as good on defense as they were in 2023 now at number eight I have the Chiefs Kansas City Chiefs the number six overall defense in terms of fantasy scoring in 2023 in large part due to the 57 sacks that they had second highest in the League last year the chiefs were thankfully able to retain every key part of their defensive line and much of their defense in general from 2023 so they should look very similar this year as to what they did last year they're being projected right now to finish 14th for defense which I honestly think is kind of disrespectful I think that maybe because they are the Chiefs we often just look at the offense more give them more attention with Patrick Mahomes and the other pieces they have there but I think this defense should still be very good and could be a huge part of any success that they do yet again have this season and I think with the minimal changes they've had this offseason I think it's pretty safe to say that they should actually outperform their 14th overall projection I think they could be very easily a top 10 defense in fantasy this year now at number nine I have the Bears Chicago Bears defense it was an interesting fantasy season for the Bears defense last year they gave up the 13th fewest points last season in 2020 3 no team had more interceptions the Bears had 22 but they didn't do too well with sacks they only had 30 which was second worst in the league however one thing that might go overlooked is that they did add Montes sweat halfway through the season of course last season after the trade with the Washington commanders and after that trade the Bears defense got much better they their sacks per game went up as well as their interceptions per game after sweat joined them they were averaging they had at least one sack in every single game and post games they were between two to four sacks per game also their interception numbers went up after they acquired montz sweat and this offseason they didn't make any major changes to the defense no additions that really jump off the page at you but again keeping in mind that they traded for Montes sweat Midway through the season and the Bears defense really did look improved by a lot in that second half of the season the expectation is that this Matt Eber Flo defense now it should look a lot more like the defense from the second half of 2023 rather than the first half of 2023 so if they can keep that up and do that for a full season they are easily a top 10 defense in Saints fantasy now at number 10 on this list I have the New Orleans Saints the Saints defense finished as ninth best in Fantasy last season thanks to 29 takeaways which was fourth in the NFL and three touchdowns they had some very high highs last season they had six weeks where they scored at least 12 fantasy points but they had some very low lows with seven weeks where they scored four or fewer points so not a very consistent defense definitely a defense that you'd want more for streaming option at least last season and they also do have a lot of their key defensive players who are getting towards the end of their career bit older but if they are able to stay healthy healthy and improve their pass rush they had 34 sacks last season which was tied for 28th not very good uh and a defensive unit that was top 10 against the run so the Saints do have some potential to be a good defense at least week to week but again they're very they're on average an older defense so that could end up not being good for them they're definitely a defense that I would suggest only drafting either at the very end of the draft or letting them go undrafted and maybe streaming them week to week now for this list I do have a few Honorable Mentions honorable mentions to go over really quick first that being at number 11 the Cincinnati Bengals followed by number 12 the Buffalo Bills and then the final honorable mention will be the philadel Adelphia Eagles all three of these honorable mentions Bengals bills Eagles all defensive squads that unless you're in a deep League I wouldn't suggest really drafting them but they could all be defensive groups that could end up being good options at least week to week when they have favorable opponents coming up and with that that was the top 10 Ontro fantasy defenses for 2024 as well as some honorable mentions this has been a fun they think that that team is going to win or lose and then making that match up with those teams that they're going up against I actually go through every single game in the NFL season and that is how
