Miami Hurricanes Might Actually Be SPECIAL This Season | Walking & Venting w/Coop Ep. 1

what's going on kan's fans welcome to the first walking and venting for the 2024 season that's right episode number one if you're new here uh this is a series that I've been doing for years it's exactly what it sounds like it is it's me walking along the edge of my property every Sunday and openly talking about the Miami Hurricanes we bring up touchy subjects sometimes things that are considered controversial and I always encourage people to speak their mind down in the comment section and we just are open honest and real about it now there's not going to be a whole lot of venting necessarily in this episode which is a great thing we're feeling good we just beat the Gators in the swamp by 24 41- 17 took care of business so we're all you know kind of United right now nobody's there's no arguing amongst the fans or anything we we feel pretty good being undefeated and 1 and0 in 2024 so with that being said I want to discuss something that I know everyone is thinking about don't pretend like you're not this has already crossed your mind heck it probably crossed your mind in the second or third quarter of that Florida game do the Miami Hurricanes actually have something special this season now I know that's a a super loaded question you know there's a lot of different ways we could slice and dice this thing there there are many different variables and it's it's early it's it's been one game can can you truly come out and say yes or no to that question after just one game we're going to talk about it here for a few minutes but I do want to let you know that I'm not overreacting me personally it's okay if if if you want to um overreact or or act in any certain way I myself you know I I know how to pump the brakes uh I'm very objective typically I temper my expectations uh my expectations are high but you know I don't like to set myself up to be disappointed but we're fans so you know we we can do whatever we want to do right we like this team we love this team and and we want to believe we want them to win we want them to be good Miami oh boy where do we start I do believe that Miami very well could and should have something special this season I do uh and there are are many factors uh cam Ward year three for Mario Christ ball which means we're starting to see the culture you know change uh the Stars Al line with the schedule you got Virginia Tech over here losing to Vandy in game one again let's not overreact but that's not a good look for them uh Florida state has doooo DJ take cam Ward over him all day and I will say that after just one game after just seeing one uh Georgia Tech they push them around but that it's revenge tour you know uh Wake Forest hadn't beat Miami in since 1944 that's probably not changing anytime soon like you know I'm not going to dive into the whole schedule some cupcakes coming up FAMU Ball State USF the point being this if there was a year for Miami to try to make a run now what do you mean by run coup I mean double digit wins and an ACC Championship Game appearance because that would in my opinion be special Miami won double digit wins in 2003 and then didn't again until 2017 that is 14 years and now it's been six more years so yes a double digit win season and an ACC Championship Game appearance in a division ACC would be a special season and hopefully it goes further than that but I'm just saying I'm just saying there's bugs and all kinds of stuff out here welcome uh to Tennessee out here in the Backwoods so that is kind of what I personally consider uh a special season and and Miami doing that would would be something special this year and I do think the team just speaking about the the players the offense the defense could be something very special starting here with with Cam Ward this is a guy that uh you know there were some doubts from some people because you know there were some people believeing maybe he's a little maybe they're overhyping him number one ranked transfer portal quarterback but you know ball security and and how's he actually going to look at Miami I think he looked great man uh you come out and you play in a place that is considered very tough to play it's not easy to play in the swamp and he got tested early he didn't have the luxury of playing the cupcakes first uh getting it all together making sure everything's in sync he had to be ready to go game one and what are the stats here 26 of 35 for 385 yards three touchdowns and just one pick I think that's a a pretty solid performance right and what I love about cam Ward is a couple of things we're going to kind of just dive into each reason why I think that the canes could be special this year I love that he's able to make those more unconventional throws it's almost like when you're watching cam Ward play I feel like I'm watching a backyard football game does that make sense like almost even look this is not a comparison but like almost Patrick momes is if that makes sense I mean like he's making the sidearm throws uh he he's extending plays you never know is he going to run is he going to throw and I love that man I love that I love it when guys are able to you know play a little bit different it's it's hard to to game plan for that right I love that also he's vocal he was talking trash to the Florida defense during the game and then backing it up right he's talking trash on that one run Play Hands it off to Fletcher Fletcher you know over here body surfing on the uh the Florida Gator D line and we score I love that he's very vocal I've been screaming yelling begging for a vocal quarterback here at the University of Miami can can you win without a vocal quarterback absolutely people tear me up they they did it last year and the year before that when I said I wish Tyler van djk was more vocal and people said that doesn't matter I just need a good football player back there I need a game manager it it doesn't matter but I love how vocal he is and the accountability because after the game man they he said hey I did I did get sacked and you know what he said he said that's on me that's not on my o line my o line protected me well all game uh they they they played hard that's on me I have to be better not pointing fingers he said that's on me and and I love that because that's the type of quarterback that the guys are going to want to fight for that they're going to want to play for all season so cam W number one I'm not going to say cam W is him it's one game and I will say that I think the Florida Gator are a mid football team they they are mediocre at best but it doesn't change the fact that it is still considered a very tough place to play and and and that place went crazy when Montell Johnson scored that touchdown you know you know so that's that's still huge let's let's not downplay that that first win there against an SEC opponent in their house it's huge so cam Ward cam Ward man I is is going to be a star here at Miami I I I truly do believe that it's not perfect uh but I think that he's a hard worker throws the interception goes right to the sideline wants to you know review the film and see what he did wrong so he can do better absolutely love it year three for Mario of ball this is where we should be seeing you know the the culture changing uh you know got his players in here there's really no excuses that you can make for any of that now that he's in year three I wish it was year three with Dawson and gidry but it is what it is it's at least you know year two and I do believe we're seeing that the way that the players carry themselves the way that they speak in the interviews the way you see them act on the field look how disciplined we were guys two penalties that's huge and you see a lot of of player recruiting after the game and that mean these players are bought in man they're saying come to Miami come ball with us come be part of something special so uh you know Mario christol wants this more than anybody man he wants it more than than anybody watching this video I can promise you that and we got to be hard on him man we're we're fans we want the team to win so of course we call him out when there's some BS nonsense going on but he's addressed he brought in new coordinators he hired a time management coach like he's he's he's done what needs to be done hopefully you know to make this team special so year three uh at the end of the Florida game it's real funny funny story I don't know if you guys saw the clip uh Florida had brought in a bunch of recruits you know to to watch this game they thought they were going to beat you know a ranked Miami team and it was going to be a good old time and they placed the recruits near the tunnel there where the Miami Hurricanes would be coming in and out and I know what they were doing I'm not stupid they thought that as the Miami players were going to be leaving the fans you know in the swamp were going to be booing them and they were going to be you know hanging their heads down and all those recruits were going to see that as the players were walking by but you know what happened instead Florida had to try to have staff push the Miami Hurricanes players away and tell them they couldn't be that close to the the recruits because the Miami players were recruiting those Florida Gator recruits that were there at the game they were literally walking up to them high-fiving them and saying yo come play come play for Miami yo don't don't don't play for Florida don't go there look what we just did to that team the players are bought in they believe in Mario Chris Ball and you're starting to actually see the difference in the culture this season I do think you're starting to see that so cam Ward uh year three with Mario christall the culture changing and shifting and again man the bugs are so bad out here today and again reason why I think it can and will be special is the schedule the schedule is soft but with the extended playoffs man you win the ACC you're going to be in and it's all on paper right now it's not all on paper anymore we've we've got a little bit of a look into you know some of these teams and and what they look like I'm not going to overreact I'm not going to say 12 and0 11 and one I'm going to stick with with my 10 and two there's Max is out here walking with me he's he's having a good old time but the schedule is super favorable no nobody can argue that it's not it's it's it's super favorable for Miami so the the the timing the easy schedule and the timing lines up for this to be a special Miami Hurricanes team this season it really does it really does whenever you look at it and I don't I don't want to seem like that I'm chugging the Kool-Aid after after one game because again I I'm not I saw so many people that you know were saying CP do you want to change your 10 and two no no uh the team's the teams got to show me Miami has to prove it to me because if you think about last year again we we talk about everything here openly we started out 4 and0 we beat an SEC team that that would be better than honestly Texas A&M was better than what Florida is this year Florida's bad but we started out 4-0 and then what happened we started losing you know now a ton of that was on Tyler van djk let's be real here but we started losing so you know anything could happen there are no guarantees in college football so I'm I'm not going to completely overreact but boy everything looks like it is lining up to potentially be special here right the physicality from this team pushing around them big SEC guys down on the field man on that first drive we just asserted our dominance I mean Martinez is out here just just pushing the pile uh man it just it it feels different doesn't it and I am not guilty of saying that do do not come on here and say Co you said that last year CP you said that the year before the year before I did not there were a lot of people in the comments who said that on the videos but I myself did not say this feels different people tried to even get me to say that last year literally I had several conversations with people on the phone and they after we beat A&M they said CP this feels different and I said nah nah not not so fast not yet yo it does feel a little bit different okay it does [Music] and calm down C calm down but really really it does it feels like that that everything could potentially line up this season and I'm just I'm I'm I'm excited for it I do believe this can and will be a special season for the Miami Hurricanes I think that this is a special team one that we're possibly going to talk about for a long time but we just have to hope injury stay to a minimum you know prayers up Ruben Bane deari Brown you know Martinez Martinez came back in the game but apparently deari and Ruben Bane might be out for a couple weeks thank freaking goodness for guess what that soft schedule coming up exactly what we talked about I think they said it was like a soft tissue injury so they're going to try to give them some time to heal up probably won't see them for a few weeks and how about that defense I don't want to focus on just the Florida game cuz we're trying to talk about the overall picture here but they did try to test those DBS man uh they targeted deari Brown a lot and he showed up he did he was one-on-one multiple times and he showed up now again this is where we say uh gram Merz does not have a great deep ball funny enough though he couldn't even throw over a 100 yards against Miami's defense that 72.9% completion percentage last year did him a whole lot of good didn't it but they're going to be some better quarterbacks uh that this defense is going to see later on this season so yet to be determined we'll see but you know Mee had an interception uh we that dline bro Austin Bane when he's going to be healthy again mesidor Barrow Baron like just such a nasty unit so what else did I have I I don't typically look at notes or anything but like I just don't I don't I I don't have anything else to say I guess it's it just I feel good I feel good about the team I I feel good about about first impression of Cam Ward as a Miami Hurricane uh Mario chrisal man they were chanting in the swamp at the end they were going Mario Mario and bro I'm happy for him I'm I'm so happy for Mario because he's bro he's working his tail off he is and he's he's received a lot of criticism and he he earned that criticism with embarrassing losses but let's look at the other side of this as well Mario chrisal has a vision in mind and he stuck with it and what I mean is he's made the changes when he said this is not a fit this is not fit what I want this team to be about you're out let me bring in someone else he's made the changes he has beaten SEC teams in back-to-back years we beat Texas A&M last year we beat Florida this year how long had it been before last year since we had beaten SEC team he beat Clemson last year with a freshman quarterback how long had it had it been since we had beaten Clemson right so what I'm saying is we can talk about the bad things that have happened the no KNE the MTSU but there is a flip side to this as well and now that we're in year three culture time to change got a quarterback that that he likes worked on them trenches right we're hanging in there with the the big boys is it really actually that wild to say that it could be a special season really like is it that crazy to say that because the more I think about it the more I don't think it's that that wild that crazy of a take it's not again whoa whoa right whoa It's just Florida it's just Florida uh we need to see Miami doing what they should be doing against the nobodies so FAMU that needs to be 4550 plus uh that needs to be giving the young guys an opportunity to get some reps get get get them some experience for this season Ball State no problem USF potential upset alert we're going to show them an upset all right they're going to be very upset at the end of the game I I will I don't ride the fence in this series I stick with my full season prediction because you can't make changes to that th those are the rules those are the rules you you can't change that you make a full full season prediction before you've seen any of the teams play a game so no I'm not going to change the 10 and two prediction but I am going to say that I do think this is a very special team they jail they mesh the chemistry is there it doesn't look like uh at least game one game one overreaction a little bit doesn't look like a bunch of hired mercenaries this looks like a team that has has played together I'm going to say this is a pretty darn special team and I think that it's going to be a special season now whatever special means to you that's up to you but we'll see man I think that that double digit wins is in the cards I think that that conference championship appearance at least is in the cards and I'll just be honest if they don't at this point with game one over reaction but if they don't then there is a a much bigger problem here AKA coordinators AKA Mario christall but you know us fans we got to remember that Mario has always been open and honest about this taking some time but we are impatient myself included we want to win it's been a long time but he he has always he's always been open and honest about about it and I have to give him that let's see if we can get a little outro here let me know your thoughts though don't shy away is is Coupe overreacting I've been known as kind of the the either negative guy or the the two levelheaded or the guy that's that's not a real fan that doesn't want to commit or rid the fence so
