Zachary Quinto Makes a Spock-tacle of Himself at Restaurant | Rich and Daily | Podcast

as a virgin and huge nerd and um okay Harry Potter is my favorite book and film good I'm glad we're finally on the same page yep and and while Zachary Quinto doesn't exist in Harry Potter's World it's for the best cuz according to the staff at a Canadian restaurant he's a total jackass yeah apparently he had a public meltdown at a Toronto restaurant and now people are roasting Zach online including the restaurant which I love I am so here for a restaurant speaking out against an so here for it same same from wondery I'm Arisha skimmer Williams and I'm Brook cine it's Tuesday June 4th and you're listening to Rich and daily on top of the world on a diamond high so so Zachary Quinto got his break on the show Heroes but most people know him for playing Spock in the rebooted Star Trek movies these days he's in Canada with Liam just kidding but he is in Canada filming a new NBC series called Brilliant Minds and on Sunday was his 47th birthday and he celebrated it first by going to Canada's Wonderland which is an amusement park it sounds really fun and since it's Canada I can only assume it's all winter stuff it's got to be when you throw Wonderland in everything sounds fun it does it does um but things became not fun because he then headed to a restaurant in Toronto called Manita for a birthday brunch but he never got his eggs Benny there because hit the fan and Manita wrote All About It on Instagram I got to wonder like what time did he go to this amusement park to still then go to brunch I was like did he have a 6 a.m. call time at the amusement park yeah is call times that they use in amusement parks um y so in their post Manita said they sent two texts to Zach letting him know that his table was ready but he never responded so when he finally showed up at the restaurant they didn't have a table for him and according to them Zach saw some Empty Tables but didn't believe that they were reserved for somebody else this is a tale as oldest time there's always some that's like well what about that empty table it's like shut up I've been with set before I hate that and I'm like just trust that the people who are working here know what's going on exactly um so Manita claims that he had a meltdown and became so irate that he made other customers uncomfortable and even made one of the staff cry it's like couldn't be me this is why I don't wear customer service cuz I don't cry I go like just you get written up by your I just go into a rage um so in their Instagram post Manita called Zach an amazing Spock but a terrible customer and accused him of yelling at their staff like an entitled child and he was like it's my birthday and I'll cry if I want to that's his motto you know that was a direct quote Yeah Yeah funnily that's a song on sweat to the oldies with Simmons too I actually know that I've seen it on there back in the day that's how I learned about that song and the dance to it of course I performed that song in a lip sync contest with my cousins when I was a child and we a contest just between you and your cousins no we were on the same we were in the same group um so Manita finished their statement with Mr Quinto take your bad Vibe somewhere else we have many lovely celebrities join us at Manita but you are not one of them and a rup for Manita confirmed to the Toronto Star that Zach has been banned from the restaurant until they receive an acceptable apology it's really going to cut deep for Zach as if there are no other restaurants for him to go and yell at people I know I no um so Richies as we record this we haven't heard from Zachary about the incident best believe I'm refreshing his Instagram account regularly yeah um but sources who claim to have been at the restaurant spoke to TMZ to corroborate the restaurant's version of events they said that Zach told the staff you're going to skip me and then pointed out that it was his birthday GH and they were like okay it's a lot of people's birthdays there are so many people born every single day like Get over yourself Zach um the sources also claimed that he was so pissed that he was physically shaking and he eventually stormed out of the restaurant and then came back a few minutes later to complain again to the manager and the sources also backed mita's allegation that Zach caused a staff member to break down in tears so you have to be such a like I don't it's like I don't know if I'm just too empathetic but the idea of causing someone to cry I just would feel horrible like I don't even know how you continue on it just feels like the worst thing you could do it's not I know but it just feels so mean something tells me he doesn't care of like if you're the person that makes people cry you don't care exactly yeah um but it does look like Zach did eventually get a table not at Manita um about 5 hours after his blow up at Manita he posted a picture on Instagram well on his Instagram story of him sitting down at a nearby wine bar called Paris Paris um and the picture shows him with a dessert with like a candle in it just your classic birthday picture at a nice restaurant really um but he's not getting much love from the public because ever since this story started making headlines people are coming to his comment section to drag him oh they always are so in the comments of just one of his posts that had literally nothing to do with the Instagram account for Ontario's small business Community asked for Zach to apologize to the restaurant and said there's no reason to be mean rude and awful to local Toronto Ontario small and independent businesses we get it being hangry is a problem but that's your problem to that I say they're right being hry is a problem it is a you problem 100% yeah and it affects all of us and we just need to learn how to deal with it ourselves you yeah yeah we all get hry yes trust me yeah um so else wrote the way someone treats staff and others is usually a great way to see someone's true character apparently yours is pretty crappy that's pretty close to your Harry Potter quote yeah yeah it's a good quote it's it really is that person's a fellow Potter head just like glass am I right yeah yeah call the club for sure um so Manita posted their original Instagram story about all of this to their grid and in the comment section they got praised for how they handled the situ a one person wrote finally a company standing up for their staff thanks for being a real one Manita which that restaurant that James Cordon threw a fit at they also stood up for their staff yeah I it's one of those things where it's like I I remember you know growing up you and I both done far too many hospitality jobs to ever be okay in our lives but it like there was that there's that saying that's like the customers always right and the worst part is that it's actually cut off cuz it's like the customer is always right in matters of taste so it's like like anytime a company's like oh whatever the it's like no no no no no no no you've got to stand by your employees who are almost always making way less than the people that they're serving especially at these nice restaurants yeah exactly agree so Brook what do you think about all this I'm sure you're on Zach's side yeah Justice for Zach honestly yeah it's like get that man a table get him a mimosa I know um one of my favorite comments that I saw on like I don't know if it was page six or who but they were like he is not famous enough to be doing all that I was like it's so true like who talks about him no one it's insane like during the pandemic well actually it was like towards the end of the pandemic when I was living at home my parents and I would go to Longhorn steakhous and they would do because it was like we were like coming out into like everything was just very like structured and you couldn't have a lot of people in the restaurant so they would text you and the speed with which I moved when I got a text is like what are you doing Zach you got messaged twice I'm always so afraid in the 2 minutes it takes me to get to the hostess or host stand they'll be like oh we texted you a minute and 30 seconds ago your table's gone and I'd be like oh I'm sorry oh that's on me yeah not yell at this person it's just insane to me I I'm right there with you like how hungry could he have been if he missed two text messages you know how restaurants will give you those little things to hold I mean they don't really do them anymore but and they would yeah I love those many years ago we were at a restaurant my parents and I don't know who else was there but I was in charge of holding it and I like I can do this thing where I like vibrate my arm so it looks like my hand is shaking and I like did it to make them think the thing was going off and it really wasn't and they were so mad they're like you don't get to hold it anymore no my parents were like everyone with me was so bad I know your parents were like we're going to yell at you we're not going to yell at the hostess we're going to yell at you yeah but I didn't cry yeah well I refuse not even if there's a fire yeah well the thing is like one of the somebody I in of course I've been going to these comments and someone was like maybe he was having a bad day and people are like I have a bad day every day I'm not making people cry and it's like I hate that narrative because it's like like I'm obviously he wasn't having a good day if he's behaving like this but it doesn't matter your bad day should not up everyone else's exactly yeah they always said your high horse Zachary thank God I took him off my list years ago he was on my list at one point I know that's wild I know your list really knows no bounds that's
