College Football 25: San Jose State vs #12 Texas Week 2 | CPU vs CPU Dynasty, RFL CS7!

hello everyone and welcome you can sense it through the pageantry the Spartans will kick it off to get us underway looking for blockage and the returner will be brought down okay so here comes the offense for the first time today and as we watch this wide receiver come onto the field when you have a dude like this you find ways to get him the ball over and over again no matter what the defense tries to take away yeah because the defense can't win whether you double team and we're still going to win and they're going to give him the ball in quick passes they're going to throw it deep and they're going to take advantage of him every opportunity they can they will feed him they will feature him because he's just that good give to the running back they get him on the ground after he gets enough to move the sticks looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out offense has it at the 28 eight on first [Applause] down the G he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 wide out in motion from the gun running back gets the give tackle is made at the 28 after a pick up of three they've made third down offense a key it'll be tested on Third and long from the 28th unloads to the wide out and they'll miss the connection here on third down they bring the punter onto the field now they'll have to punt for the first time this afternoon and they'll haul down the returner to start us on the next Drive the Spartans offense will try to get something started with their first possession as we take a look at out David what do you look for to make an impact from your leaders your leaders not only have to lead the football team but they got to step up and make plays on the field keep everybody calm these guys typically do a really good job of it yeah David and they also generally set the tone for their respective football teams regardless of which side of the ball they play on the teammates look towards them to step up in big games like this this crowd bringing the energy and noise early it's hard to run on a defense that comes off the ball like that and runs to the football like that good luck no hes any Here Comes This Home crowd as the defense tries to get off the field on third down looking to throw it's Matthews and there was nowhere to go for this quarterback and down he goes and listen the quarterback drops back and he's going through progressions we see Zone but just couldn't do anything about it this defensive line this pressure getting to the quarterback getting him on the [Applause] ground and the Spartans decide to pun it away signals for the fair Catch and that's where they'll put it in play just outside the 20 the offense set for a first down play give to the back and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 out of the gun the running back has it running with power in his sophomore season he's really learned to find that Running Room they moved the chains on the ground now another first down they'll ride the running back can leave it with him and he didn't have a whole lot of operating room after the Juke not much room to run got three on first down it's second and seven wide receiver now comes in motion they're bringing heat and he was drilled just as he released the pass it's incomplete third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off out of the shotgun they go to the ground he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three and here comes the punt team first part was gorgeous let's see if he can do it again looking for a block it's Collins he'll get it to about the 25 before they put a stop to the return guys this San Jose State offense trying to get this ball moving from the gun running back on the move they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 it'll be a draw tackle is made at the 28 after a pick up of three let's see what call they have on Third and long from the 28th now the play fake and the misc connection on third down the Spartans will bring the punt team onto the field this will be the second time they've had to kick it [Applause] away he'll call for the fair catch here they'll put this one in play first snap of the drive from the 25 quarterback flips it ahead quickly to the receiver you'll take this every time five yards on the first down play Let's see what they've got on second down fast motion from the offense from the gun he leaves it with the back pretty good job of running to get two there to the 32 will they keep it on the ground again here on third down they'll try to bully their way for the first and he's brought down after a nice gain offense lines up for a first and 10 from the 43 from the gun the ground game they make the Stop and this running game moves the change as they get the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs they'll ride the hot hand not much working there it'll be second and nine they'll run this play from the pistol wide receiver shows motion the give to the tail back and they try the middle of this defense and that is not happening let's see what they do on third down third the it's been a defensive battle through the first period and the stats tell that [Music] tale let's see if the offense can find a little rhythm as we start the second quarter a third and long coming up here from the gun wants to pass nice defensive play to get a hand in there and knock it away and they're running out the kicker to give it a try this kicker bragged that he can kick an 80 yd field goal he'll settle for a 59 Yer here and the try is no good kicker couldn't quite get it through and the scoreb board Remains the Same well the upright playing the 12th man on defense knocking that ball down that looked like it had a chance to be good San Jose state has the ball and ready to go on the attack last time David it was one two three kick the last Drive that three and out sometimes that puts your defense in a bad spot and you got to get a drive together here so you don't wear the defense out I just think David too predictable in that last Drive they got to do something here to get this defense on the fields looking for a man it's Matthews he finds his man knock down immediately but a nice pick up on that one debbs Rising as the crowd Gets behind this defense on third down fires into traffic it's it's picked off taking it the other way running inside the 20 obliterates him still on the move and it'll be a touchdown the DB saw it he thought don't drop it don't drop it then thought don't get caught don't get caught and he didn't the pick six hey these guys can play offense too now look at this I showed you I can be a wide receiver coach might split him out at wide receiver next week after making that big play but defense great job making the interception and you're right doing something with it don't just slide down don't be content take that thing all the way back brother P unit on the field and the extra point is good and it's 7 nothing we check in with Kevin Conor what's going on Kevin Hey guys let's take a look at what's happening in a great top 25 matchup the home team has the lead right now but this crowd is restless they just haven't been able to separate themselves yet today Thea team is hanging in there but they're going to need something to break their way and soon throws to the wide out just masterful working that sideline and getting the toe down for the catch it'll be first and 10 from the 30 going to run it it's baates and that's a very productive first down play and bringing up second and three off the play fate throws to the tight end wide open downfield and there was lots of space as he gets it to the 39 yd line and David I know there's a part of you that wers what if had you played tight end you and I have been out in the field pregame before we've been spinning it around with your athleticism I know you wonder what it would have been like to go make plays like that I I tell you what I do wonder what if now Jesse because now you can't hit these guys you're not allowed to to hit them high all the targeting like if you're a big body guy with good hands you can go make a lot of money might have been a little bit safer might not have got hurt so yeah would have been that bad of a living fighting off off the defender and the Spartans brought to the ground but not before picking up the first here's this offense with a fresh set of downs looking to go up top on first down he got it they will score touch down San Jose State and what a nice start for this offense the throw game getting working getting the touchdown pass this quarterback getting a little bit of confidence this passing game getting in Rhythm nice start for this offense [Applause] getting set for the point after smashes it through for the pat so a drive there of 84 yds and the score comes on a touchdown pass covering 28 yds on the run from inside his own five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 so guys we'll see this offense again off the play fake on first down and it's picked off trying to take it back touchdown San Jose State and this defense coming up with points of their own what an interception return what a play by this defense with the pick six and how about the defender exactly what you're supposed to breaks on the football makes the interception everybody on defense we turn to offense go lay some blocks so my guy can get it and take it back to the house on to attempt the try kicker is on for the extra point and the pat gives him a 14-7 lead they're about to kick it away and the defense probably can't wait to get back out there after the pick six from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 they'll throw it on first down fires a b but now it's picked off he'll try to take it back touchdown Spartan a great return for the touchdown any return for a touchdown is a great one to a defense look a lot of time left there's a little bit of distance right now being put on the scoreboard there is but it's so awesome when you're a defense and you study all week about what's coming and what routes to be ready for and then you jump the route and you make the plays and you just go get in that end zone it is so beautiful lining up to attack one more onto that lead and the extra point pushes to lead to 14 they'll kick it off and send that defense right back out there to try to score again after the pick six he'll bring it back from inside his five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stay in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 and now this offense will take the field again from the gun the G looking for room gets it out to the 20 after a pick up of four after the productive first down play it's second and six motion from the [Applause] offense off the RPO complete and he is going to be forced out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage tremendous defense there trying to move the sticks on third down through the air all kinds of room to throw that one in there put it right on him sweet play good pick up and they'll move the change with the first down first for the off they're going to run it and you can forget running in the middle against this defense got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 he's looking to throw makes the grab on the left he is stopped behind the line of scrimmage they'll lose yards on that one now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass and he throws his third pick of the day his head has to be spinning didn't get a ton on the return but the most important thing he got the ball and they've got it at the 48 [Applause] the San Jose State offense is back on the field Jesse looking to take it down the field for back-to- back touchdowns I think it's really important for them moving forward too to have a lot of Bounce right you want to be able to keep this defense guessing B yeah and you got me searching for answers after that last drive you stack another drive on top of this their defense's heads are going to be spinning all over the place just let him a little too far across the sideline takes a catch but it's incomplete better find the earplugs here comes the noise backing this defense on third down they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out the Spartans will send out the punt unit trying to play a little field position with that high high punt looks it all the way in and now turns his attention up field they make the stop on the return but there is laundry on the field let's get the [Applause] call so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty so the offense keeps his Drive alive thanks to the roughing the punter penalty looking for a physical attack from the gun nice solid form tackle from this sophomore three wide outs to the right on second and eight the RPO it's complete they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground covered pick up the first they'll try to drive ahead on Third and short they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one timeout call by the defense it's their first of the half as they'll make some adjustments and they'll send out the field goal [Applause] unit knocked it right through showing that big range from 48 yds out well it's a good news bad news scenario you got the pick and you would have lik to have paid that off with a touchdown but because the drive stalls out they're still happy to get the field [Music] [Applause] goal they keep pushing that lead out and the kickoff team's getting some work looking for an alley from inside his own 10 really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 motion by the back forces the defense to adjust p and fired complete crossing the 30 he's got a lane he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down looking to move it through the air that is just a sideline credit throw catch tow drag everything you want he'll come out throwing on first down makes his connection well it's a nice job by the defender there closing the Gap with the wide receiver they're going to complete the hitch pass but he's able to run right up on him get him to the ground for a minimum game the throw to the outside is complete he's R out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down the aerial assault continues couldn't hang on to that one this defense has already picked off three passes almost had the fourth it'll be second down couldn't connect on first down now back to the air got him downfield dragged down to the turf but not before getting the first down offense now working in the Red Zone they'll throw it on first down that's it fly makes the catch and gets the score and I tell you what that passing touchdown man that should spark this whole team like The Comeback is more than on now like they got the touchdown they cut into the lead you want to get a stop and go into the half get all the juices all the excitement and be like listen the passing game's rolling we got this The Comebacks in full effect and way just a second the officials going to take a second look at this one and the player will stand after the replay rout just does a little double checking to make sure and the Pat will draw them one point closer and let's check in with Kevin Conor in the studio Kevin Dynamite match up today fellas let's show you what's going down UC is currently ahead in this one but unlike the days of Terry Donahue this has not been a blowout today inside the rose bow they're up by a field goal over Washington wasting no time time throwing on this drive grabbed in the back field it's Bates we are the eyes and ears of the college football fan and we've got you covered all day here in studio guys and how about that one Kevin will be keeping an eye on everything going on elsewhere on second down looking again to throw they'll wrestling down just short of the first down I don't even think they're going to bring out the change to measure this one back to throw it's Matthews oh that's slithered right through his fingers and would have been his second interception of the game instead it's Fourth Down kicks it high and it's just hanging there as if it has helium in it and floating down toward the Earth good field position to start this drive at their own 47 going up top on first down quickly out for the tight end a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half still some work to do after that last completion it's second down he's looking to throw on the move he fires makes the grab lowers that shoulder delivers the blow we got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the [Applause] break lost to throw on first down nobody the open he just throws it away and it'll bring up second down time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half right back up top on second and 10 he just threw that one away nobody was getting open he had to live to fight another play in the Red Zone it'll be third down and it's third down but they're taking no chances they'll send the field goal unit out before halftime it's good he's could to hit a string right in the middle of the upright there I know they're trailing going into the locker room here at half time but kicking that field goal gives them a little bit of a jolt a little bit of a boost of momentum that they can carry with them into the second half and there's a lot of football left to go here I can't wait to see what [Music] happens so they get the late field goal right before the half and not much time after this kickoff for an answer and it'll be a Touchback the ball will come out to the 25 yd line and holding on to the lead the offense will simply take a knee and that's how we will wrap up the first half as expected looks as if they'll run it out and go into halftime with a lead that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with the halftime update fellas you've been calling a First Rate game so far from Austin today and it's been said football is a game of inches and guess what based on the comparison between third down conversion rate today and the average yard per play how can you argue that I mean the low l fruit is to look at some of the explosive plays we've seen in panic but really this game is going to come down to which team is more efficient when they have the ball and how they play when it matters most and with that let's get it back to our phyas at DKR got things teed up and just about ready to go here in the second half and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return guys this San Jose State offense trying to get this ball moving trying to start the drive with a pass he's got his man and the defense settled in to stop that one for a short game here comes the offense on second down dropping back it's Matthews he's got his man makes the grab and a good job in coverage there as they stop it at after just a few Here Comes This Home crowd as the defense tries to get off the field on third down he's got it and he couldn't quite get to the marker and that's going to bring up a fourth down and the Spartans will punt this one away he's getting a lot of work fourth time he's punted tonight now a fair catch is called for a may just shy of Midfield they'll start this drive at their own 48 quarterback touch pass on the Jet Sweep and this one will be stopped for No Gain second down coming [Applause] up wide receiver coming across in motion the play action fake fires to the wide out he's got it good execution they moved the sticks and they've got it at the [Applause] 33 touch pass on the Jet Sweep and a pickup of eight opens a world of opportunities on second and two kept it on the ground on first down now back to the line on second down just keeps firing makes the grab over the middle the defense wouldn't let him loose and even though it's in completion they lost yardage third wide out in motion gets it out fast there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give them a first down moving quickly trying to Rattle the D [Applause] they'll run it out of the shotgun pight is way ahead they get him down after a pick up of three they'll mark it at the 12 going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down out of the gun the give to the back brought down after a 5yd gain down to the seven not a lot of ground to cover and not much to defend a big third down in the Red Zone they'll try to get it through the air quarterback now on the Run still looking he's in for the score touchdown this guy is so slippery so elusive he just vaporizes right in front of the defense it's crazy people can play Touch football in elevator and lose to this guy he's that kind of [Applause] [Music] quick they'll try to attack one more on their [Applause] [Music] score and they did make the extra point and we have a tie ball game here in the third after that latest answer tied things up just about set to kick it away again set to KI and they thought about a return Then thought better of it they'll bring it out to the 25 San Jose state has the ball and ready to go on the attack the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no rhyon in that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards gets him first and the pressure gets to him down goes for quarterback the defense coming up big there and the sack is great but the secondary deserves some credit too know that when you can cover like that in the secondary and drop back in your Zone and only Rush a few and you feel comfortable getting home and they're going to get to the quarterback that is a great feeling and that's fun to be a defensive coordinator calling the play that's the last thing you want as an offense a negative play a sack on first down got his man in the middle they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down decb Rising as the crowd Gets behind this defense on third down got his man quickly and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker the Spartans send out the punt unit they may have to pay him overtime he's punting for the fifth time today not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair catch they'll get this drive started from their own 26 [Applause] from the gun they'll try to impose their running game a collision and he stopped at the 27 after picking up one didn't get much on first down it's second and nine quick strike complete he's brought down solid pick up a little bit short of the first down let's see if they keep it on the ground here on third down they'll try to run for it and boy is he close to that first down maybe just a couple of inches short the pun team makes its way onto the field a high kick let's see if he can pin him back deep in their own end he'll be content with the field position making the fair catch right around the 30 yd line out of the shoot quick toss to the right and the defense holds firm no pickup at all on that play hey that's a live ball and the defense has it there going the other way I'll tell you honestly I don't know what that player could have done to hold on to that football that Defender absolutely popped him he knocked him into next week there was no chance he was holding on to that ball on first down here comes this [Applause] offense from the shotgun the inside G you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the offense wide receiver now comes in motion quick completion to the right they get him on the ground but it's a first down from the 17 yd line threatening the score on First and 10 used the play fake now to throw lets it fly deep downfield almost intercepted they took a shot on on first down and just about turned the thing over fast motion from the offense quick touch pass to the receiver and he's stuck by that big defensive tackle up front offense breaks the Huddle it's third down third that's the they fought tooth and nail through three and it is all locked up as we take a look at the [Music] stats can't wait to see how this fourth quarter is going to go and see who can come out on top in this barn burner wide receiver shows [Applause] motion he's there to make the stop but the damage has been done as they pick up the first down on the throwing [Applause] catch they'll go to the air he's got PS it in and takes it in for a touchdown and it's now the second time this wide receiver has scored another outstanding job with the route great job securing the catch [Music] they'll try to add another to their lead the extra point is good and now in the fourth they're up by a touchdown and an extra point let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Connor Kevin what do you got boys if it's happening in college football we've got eyes on it check this out vir Virginia Tech has the lead right now but they haven't been able to separate themselves just yet inside Lane Stadium they're up by eight over Vanderbilt for now it's back to you fellas but of course if anything changes you'll see it right here thanks for the update on that with Kevin let us know when it goes final didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 quarterback on the keeper they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one the Roar of the crowd trying to fuel this defense to keep them pinned in their own end now he's going to break the pocket and the sack all the way back at the five well the offense got themselves into trouble they're back in their own end it's an obvious passing situation so the defense is just pinning their ears back and they're trying to get after him they could not allow him to escape Step Up Get rid of the football they take a sack very close to the goal line and the Spartans will try to p send them back with the punt three and out and not much choice but to get rid of the ball sometimes avoiding disaster is the best thing the punter just gets it out of there they make the stop but there is a penalty marker down let's see what the call is personal foul the kick defense the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty comes out throwing on first down dances away from the heat he'll pull it down and run solid fundamentals on that tackle from this freshman offense gets set for second down looking downfield it's Matthews fires to the tight end and he runs through one tackle and picks up a few they'll try to move the chains on Third and short from the 27 they'll try to pick up the first through the air and this sophomore able to wre some havoc and get the sack things working pretty well for this defense out of the dime package and still getting plenty of heat on the quarterback get off the rock understand the situation all the fast guys got the backend covered it's my job to seek and destroy the quarterback great job by the defensive line rushing after that guy and getting him on the ground the Spartans will call on their punt team they're up to a half dozen kicks today not going to risk a return here calls for the fair Catch and makes it just around the 30 yd line okay so here comes the offense returning to the [Applause] field quick release on the RPO and he'll make his way out of bounds after the solid pickup it's first and 10 for this offense from the 42 [Applause] from the gun they'll try to impose their will at this point of the game the offense has the lead the offensive coordinator knows they want to keep running the football so he's going back he's looking at his playlist and he's saying which runs work the best for me in this game what can I lean on right here to make sure we win this one pulls and throws out the Ario oh what a move and he'll ramble to the 34 before he's finally knock down this offense is like running a Perfection drill in practice against air chunk play after chunk play and here they come again wide receiver coming across in motion he makes the connection and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain [Applause] land movement here from the tight end off play action he's got his man across the middle just making a play getting it to the 23 yd line it'll be first [Applause] down he wants to throw it again going to try to pop one on the screen he is going nowhere stopped at the line of scrimmage and now on second down for this offense they'll keep it on the ground to keep this clock moving they finally make the stop with the big run is plenty to move those sticks for the first down and this defense has to step forward not only do they have to get a stop they've got to do it quickly to keep that time from running down and he'll be shoved Out of Bounds at the three yd line they've got it down to the three now it's second and goal they'll try to power it in and he burrows his way into the end zone the offense flexes its muscle a bit and widens the Gap take a little exit you know you did your job you got points now you put your defense in a position where hey go out and get another stop we're in great shape so the offense definitely taking care of their [Music] business climbing up to attack one more onto that lead and the extra point is true and they have a two touchdown lead up 14 in the fourth the kickoff team out there set the booted away here's the return from inside is 10 didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the San Jose State offense is back on the field that last Drive won't go on the Highlight Reel after ending in a punt they don't like to be more productive this time David and I think this offense has to be a little bit more balanced find a little balance between the Run Jesse and working in that pass and I think too David it's just going to take a spart it just takes one play to get this thing picked up and going grabbed over the middle it's B and defensively this is exactly what you want right you got the big lead so you can play Big Zone coverages just keep the ball in front of you keep your eye on the quarterback rally to the football gang tackle snatches it on the right big play for this offense as they get it to the 32 and the Spartans come to the line in the hurry up well how about the offense setting that play up we've seen earlier in the game a couple shorter throws they're just trying to suck those safeties closer to the line of scrimmage anticipating that they would get an opportunity to take a shot they called the perfect play at the perfect time right there four wide out set two on either side on second and 10 complete to the left they make the stop but not before he sets them up with a first and goal from the 10 at the yd first and [Applause] S he wants to throw trying to get to him caught over the middle it's Bates that completion will take it close to the 5 yd line they'll mark it at the six we reached the two-minute warning and we see miracles in college football all of the time and they could use one here back to throw it's Matthews it's complete they've got it down to the three yd line really well done on that throwing [Applause] catch wants to fire It In The End Zone on Third and goal it falls incomplete he was trying to find his man for six a field goal is not top the list of most helpful things at this juncture so they'll go for it on fourth down takes a snap wants to throw looking to buy time and they got him a sack denies the try to convert on fourth down after being stopped there on fourth down this game's pretty much over they were going to have to go down in a two-minute situation put at least seven up on the board they couldn't get it done things just haven't gone their way it's been that tight type of day today they're going to leave the stadium with the loss so guys we'll get another look at this offense firmly in control of this game we'll see if they just try to run out the clock and get out with the victory everybody on offense here should feel really good about their performance today too David they had a really good game plan coming into this one and they went out and they executed at a very high Lev yeah lights out and this game's over I interested to see the philosophy now do we keep chucking the pill and keep trying to score points cuz it's the defense's responsibility to stop him they just run this clock and say all right we did enough today we kick them in the face referee signals timeout it's the defense wanting to make sure that they have everything just right with a big play coming they'll try to power their way ahead and he's tripped up but not before picking up the first down quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense and the off def is content with where it is they'll take a KN a strong methodical workmanlike effort from this team No Frills just get the job done and get the win I love when you describe my teams like that just consistent you know methodical strong I don't have to do things special every single week all I'm supposed to do is get the W and that's what they did and this is why practice is so important guys you can tell that this team was locked in way back earlier in the week they watch watched the film they got good looks in practice they knew what to anticipate they knew what looks they were going to see and when those looks presented themselves boyo they ever take advantage so that's going to do it for us for Jesse Palmer David poock I'm
