the bar shortly afterwards goals from suando trossard just after coming on literally a couple of minutes and then a second from Thomas party gave the Gunners all three points and perhaps laid down an early marker for the season especially when you consider last season Villa were a bit of a Boby team for Arsenal doing the double over them in terms of just that knowing you've beaten the team that some might say you know those six points dropped were very costly for for Arsenal how much will that mean to them going forward in this season well it'll mean a lot because I mean yesterday it was a couple of games that you you know big moments in the game man united at Brighton when a gold obviously that was choked off with zich kneeing the ball over the line xery xery Sorry xery kneeing the ball over the line and then we saw at Villa Park um obviously Raya pulling off an amazing save but it it could have been so different in both games um I thought it was a really poor game uh for about an hour I didn't think either team really got going gave each other a lot of respect nothing really happening and then suddenly once ARS I mean trar coming on was it made a massive change uh to it's it's weird when you look at PL Martinelli is so quick and direct but that wasn't needed on the day really because it felt like you know with trossard you get an assurance on a trust that he he just smells situations he knows how when to get on the back of someone he knows when to cross it you know he's got them things that are instinctive in his game that makes him the player he is which which he like he got for his goal where he's just got himself in a position in the 18 Yard Box sacka crosses it crosses it across the face of the goal it ends up coming to his right foot and he puts it in the bottom corner but he does it with quite Simplicity that's that's Trad and that's why he's such a vital reminds me a bit of wilard at Arsenal at times because wilard was that sort of player where he wasn't the best at Arsenal and would never be remembered as the best but would chip him with some really big moments goals and can make a difference you mentioned that save and as I did as well from from David reyer um just how incredible was it well I mean OE Watkins probably went a you know bed last night thinking oh my God added I miss them two and the first one obviously puts it wide of the post second one with the save well you it's not the greatest aheer because all he's thinking and I don't blame him for thinking this OE Watkins just Get It On Target you know cuz obviously he's gone to ground R yeah and as it's come off the bar and he's gone to the ground but he's got up so quickly do you know goalkeepers practice that drill more than any other drill where they bounce back up all the time really quickly ready for the next action and I think olle thinks all I got to do is get it On Target and but is the element as well trying to I don't want to say defend doly Watkins but does it come to him so quick yes of course yeah yeah is his ly thinking and he said as it comes just get it on target it's a goal which nine times out of 10 it is but because the goalkeeper bounced off the ground so quickly R and he's been managed and it was a good hype for him I I mean it's hard to say in that moment do I ever remember thinking I'm going to pick that corner cuz if you pick that corner and you miss the corner and everyone just says Get It On Target you score so it's it's a bit of a bit of a double whammy for him because I felt for him because it was a it was a powerful head it was straight at the goal unfortunately the goalkeepers done unbelievable to bounce up and get it and make a make a make a great save so um of course of course some of us were aware of David Rey's exploits because it's not the first time we've seen him do that in the Premier League I don't so can I ask a question is there definitely a number one now at Arsenal after that conversation the start of last season I've got two number one still up in the air uh no I was going to say if you remember when brenford played Liverpool homeo he pulled off a similar save where I forget who it was a Liverpool player had a shot it hit the post bounced straight back out J was out there on the left and it was a similar situation Ray's on the floor and somehow got himself back up within like finger and he it pulled off a Wonder save so he's done that you do see them I mean there's been some great saves I remember David uh pulling off a save against Everton at Old Trafford where it's a one his save and it's literally his reaction was just I met Kini at Chelsea doing a similar thing but as you said that's what they trained for yeah but that but you know that is the drill they do more often than not have you ever seen goalkeepers they're always peeing up off the ground as quick as they can quick feet you know can they get up he's done brilliantly well and I look Ole Watkins on any other day could have walked away brace um he's not had the best of starts has he no I was at like I said yesterday I was at the game at West Ham and um he was okay in the game wasn't the OE Watkins we know that can be a game changer yesterday he could have been man in a match I know and now he's a culprit because he's he finishes them two he's man of the match you are talking inches really that he's away from scoring um just on that is it a Euro's hangover do you think um not really I I mean when you finish two CH I mean the first one is probably the easier in some ways because it's there you just think if if a roll it in the bottom corner it's a goal um and he completely mishits it so you know he's he's made a mistake there i' I'd like to think not I mean O's it's it's a weird one now because he's back in a situation where which I Hope's not going to happen to him too often but because Duran's come in and done well he's now looking over his shoulder at 60 minutes and I know Center forwards don't like that and you it's not a privilege that you know you just keep on the pitch but he's earned the stripes to stay on the stay on the pitch CU he'll can get goal in the 80th minute that clearly is not going to happen now with Duran breathing down his neck Villa it happened at West Ham in the opening game it happened yesterday he's getting hooked okay and he wasn't hooked because he played badly I would like to think he was hooked because you know just to change in tactics I think you the rais a good point though when we we've spoken about it before when Uno Emory came in well prior to that when Steven Gerard was in charge it was chop chain Sho and change it was OE Watkins it was Danny y OE Watkins Danny in Emory came in made it very clear Watkins was the number one and like you say but this season we've seen this emergence of Jean Jan which is we always say competition is healthy but it is hard when you know that there is someone breathing you know you know olle personally don't you so you've got to know him because of he you've been at brenford and you you know you've just spoke when you say personally I don't that word no but no but you've talked to him say hello to you I don't mean like your best friends I mean I mean I'd like to be best friend but you know him and i' I I've always felt the way olle is because he's such a selfless player and a brilliant player in that um he's very given in the way he plays football if you look at his assist record apart from his goal scoring but I also get a sense of a very sensitive man sometimes yeah I'd say so and just I you know and I just feel sometimes is he going to be a little bit affected by John Duran even though competition's meant to be healthy because he might be thinking he said cuz he you know most people who sit on the bench look disappointed so you can't make too much out of that I suppose the only way I can can compare it is with Watkins and and Ivan Tony and talking about personalities you don't see the ego that Ivan Tony has in Olie Watkins no and that might be as you say due to the fact that he is a bit more selfless and he's a he's maybe he's not as confident sometimes when it comes to certain situation I'm not saying on the pitch just in general I mean I don't know that I'm literally assuming um but it's very they're very different sort of me as come across mentality wise slightly different um let's talk a little bit about Arsenal then and the title charge as we mentioned of course huge Victory to get over Aston Villa it was um like you say it wasn't the best of games but it was certainly a game where Villa were growing in it and we mentioned those couple of chances for for oy Watkins it was the performance really of Arsenal digging in and eventually turning it around and getting those two goals yeah and defensively we've you know there they were a very sound team Arsenal that's quite clear Timber coming in at left back done okay he's been out a long time for obviously C BR times made a couple of last ditch challenges with Gabrielle they they don't look like Arsenal going to give even though there was two big chances that could have been taken they generally defend for their life that back four and with that the players in front of them make a difference look ultimately the game was changed by substitution because as we go back to trossard was made the difference and just made Arsenal flow a little better um Saka never stops trying to do things never stops as he started brilliantly this season well he's just he's tenacious he's willing to you know get himself defensively in positions at times and then he'll want to run the fullback and d and him had a real battle for a period of time and sometimes he doesn't get the rewards for his hard work because Defenders you know are working equally as hard which happened with yesterday they double up but that moment for the goal was one of them where that's why sacka stays on it's because he always can get that one moment where he gets half a yard and it wasn't the great greatest of cross but he's had the ability to sense I put it near penalty spot that's it's a pullback it's not a cross of just a hopeless cross he's pulled it back and with that he ends up getting to truss hard and you know I thought it was quite ironic with the Arsenal fans chanting with obviously the keeper Mar is you know um he didn't have his best game after he saying what a good goalkeeper he was yesterday um that's you know that wasn't his greatest day for certainly
