Marc Albrighton INSISTS England Will Be MORE EXCITING In The Knockout Rounds Of EURO 2024 ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ

and Charlie asked Mark about that little period after Christmas Mark when when Leicester went for a pretty tough time and you you eroded like 17 points and you were being chased down by leads and ipswitch but you had some characters in the dress of him there who' been in the Premier League and you felt that was really important that that's why people didn't lose their nerve and you're able to bounce back yeah I think during that difficult period it was it was massively important obviously we had the likes of Harry Winks Connor Cody uh Jamie vardy who uh even myself who who believed we was we belonged in the Premier League um so we we weren't happy to just sort of lay down and die and and be like right okay if we don't go up then we've just got another season in the championship it's fine we were desperate to to to get promoted everything that we were doing the way that we were and this isn't just on the pitch this is just around the place the way that we were traveling the way that like the hotels we were staying it we wanted everything done so to give us the best chance to like so we there was no excuses just so that it was up to us to to do the business on the pitch then to to to get promoted and it to have them players and them them characters and personalities around the place I think really got us over the line in the end yeah um so let's talk a bit of England it's been a tough watch so far from a Pros point of view what have you made of England so far in the tournament they've won the group of course as we're being told but it's maybe not been as quite as exciting as we would have hoped yeah I think every body would would say the same I think the people in the camp would would say the same as well that it's not been as entertaining as what what we what us as as fans and and Spectators want want to see um having said that like you say we're we're through as group winners and um and I think with W with with the next round um around the corner I think we we can have optimism with with the squad that we've got I think we've we've got a group of players that are used to playing in in games on big stages uh the quality is there we've seen that all along I think tournament football as well is is a lot about if even if you don't play well just get the results get the results and we've we've managed to do that and and I think with um if we was to have a few more of them boring games and and wins then I think if we would come away with a we probably would forget wi the whole thing be amazing game n how much of it in e in his ego do you think you must have been dressing rooms where there are two or three big players who want to be the man on the pitch I think that's what we've got uh in the England squad at the moment luckily you know we've got three or four players who are absolutely world class how how does that play out in a dressing room when it's obvious that someone is playing in the wrong position or needs to be moved or left on the bench or whatever like that yeah I think like from the time that i' I've been playing uh professional football it's the the England setup has always had always had that um even in in the the era before with obviously the the golden the Golden generation I think we called it didn't we but um yeah I think they they had they had something similar but um from people that I've spoke to that have been in the England setup they very much say that it's it is changing a lot and it's a lot more together now um and a lot more sort of everybody gets on with everyone um there's no sort of divide in there I I played under 21 so this is going back a bit but it was very much like um London Lads Northern Lads Midlands Lads and it it was segregated quite a bit um and that just naturally happened um whereas I think I look at it now and the people that I speak to that have been in that fold um there's relationships all over the place um and and good relationships form uh forming from Lads from different clubs and uh and even away from the the England setup I think they're they're close friends we saw Cole Palmer come on the other day and have an impact Anthony Gordon only had a few minutes but we almost set up a goal for Cole Palmer he was part of that so what have you made of that at the moment we feel like there's no supply line to Harry Kane which is why he keeps coming deeper I mean would you like to see Gordon and Palmer get a bit more game time yeah I certainly would I think Cole Palmer probably could have come on earlier in the second game Gordon could have come come on earlier in the in the final game um but I think we we just we are blessed with so so much talent at the minute you you look at the lads that have been left behind in your greish and and your Madison and these are players that can just light up a game um the flick of a switch so we we've got we've got quality all over but I do think that if if it's not working then yeah like it'd be better to change things earlier um and give these Lads a chance obviously we've seen what Gordon can do when when he came on but uh we Al know that the players that that start the game are are more than capable of that as well because we've we've seen it week in week out for their for their clubs and this issue we have at the moment with essentially in Kieran trippy a right footed left back and the fact that he can't overlap or he tends not to is making it harder for the Winger I mean when you're in a situation like that you you do have to work ideally as a team with your fullback don't you yeah I think you do um and I I do see that has been a bit of an issue um having said that I think Kieran trippier offers so much more than the than just playing the role as as a fullback I think the the leadership skills that he offers I think you also need that at at uh a tournament as well so I think he offers so much more than the than just the the football side of it he's he'll be reassuring to the players that that that are he's on the pitch with um he'll be reassuring to to his manager I think he's is is a top class professional and um and he he certainly um been been a good servant to the country we're going hear from Mark Gay now fake Brothers our England correspondent who we will speak to later on caught up by Mark Gay the England Defender and this is what he had to say England's defense is the most successful defense in in the tournament so far how proud are you of that bearing in mind that was the focus coming into the tournament that it was perhaps England's weakest link I'd say I'm content um cu the job's not finished it's important that we I say carrier on building um and that's Testament to the entire team cuz we're not out there just playing by ourselves you know it's the pressure from the front it's the midfielders helping us and constant communication um so I think if we carry on building we'll be fine is that something that maybe that the fans and and critics outside maybe need to remember that actually defenses tend to win tournaments and and not necessarily the best attacking side you know it's a it's a collective you know being able to defend really well um and if we're going to go far in this tournament you know your defense needs to be really strong um so I think you know the critics I'm not aware of anything anyone says anyway so you know um I think as long as you car on moving forward in the right direction uh we'll be okay as England Defender Mark Gay beting the fakeer others Mark or Brighton's with us and Mark we have been good defensively that is very true um I mean to be honest we're not been massively tested I mean the Danes came on to us a little bit and Serbia did but we didn't see an awful lot from Slovenia the other night so we'll find out as as we move through the competition and and that back for and that team gets tested a little bit more defensively yeah and I think that can can work the opposite way as well I think that will give the license um for for more attacking football as well because there'll be more gaps to to exploit and we've certainly got the the talent in there to to exploit that I think Mark Gay has been been a shining light for for the country over the last three games as well I think he's been he's been a standout former for me um I think he's been really good so um yeah you you look at other countries in in major competitions teams like Italy that they've based that they're based on a strong Foundation defensively um they're probably not always the the prettiest team to watch um but they they're always there are thereabouts at the end at the end of a tournament so um I think we can take take a lot of of optimism from from the way that we we have defend collectively and I do agree with what he's saying um just one final one when you're faced as a Winger when you're out there as an attacking player if you like and you're faced with two Banks of four or a bank of four and A Bank of five sometimes and there is an expectation we look how good fod and and Belling and all these players are we say we good players you should be able to find a way through it is it very difficult I mean you as a Leicester player especially in the championship where you're a bit of a scalp um a lot of teams will sit in a low block and say come on then what have you got it must it must be quite hard and quite frustrating to break down at times it is and it's hard it's hard at any level whether that's on the international stage whether that's Premier League Championship even all the way down you you look at sort of FA Cup third rounds and they'll always be tricky ties because of of the way team set up to to defend in a block if if it's an organized block is what one of the hardest things to play against I think you you have to find certain ways to to get through him I think obviously Guardiola at City suffers a lot with it where he um he looks at it and and teams do it week in week out to him so he's he's in a constant battle to try and find different ways to to break it down but quite a lot of players we've got one particularly in foden um when he's certainly when he's centrally um does find a way through he will pick the pass it's just it's unpicking the lock isn't it got to score got to score early Sunday mean that's what we going to try and do this has been the frustration with England that we're not finding really finding a way to do that at the moment yeah I think foden obviously he's he used to facing that like like you say he's used to facing that and and guardiola's G him give the to the the tools to to be able to do that at the minute it don't seem to be working for for for England for for could be a number of reasons but um I I do think as the tournament goes on and and teams come out and um and leave them them gaps like I was saying I think it will open things up and we will see a more exciting a more exciting England team well let's hope so Mark you say you're just decision making now um we got a few things in the pipeline potentially you're thinking about for I just put it in there the National League South does that interest you United the National League South uh I'm actually from Tamworth and they've just been promoted to the National League Premier so uh yeah I'm Be A Step Above not no not no Charlie's recruiting with Neil Warner for for talk United well good to see you mark whatever you do we wish you well hopefully we'll see you again thanks for popping amazing thank you very much Mark Brighton there the Premier
