welcome back to episode three of the sports Now podcast formerly known as the Champions Corner we changed because we felt like it anyway that was awesome so hly the name sucked the name sucked okay all right just great start the name was awesome great start but this is a very very important day on the sports Now podcast you know we have our first uh guest star in history and you know it's it's a very important day for him to be guest on this because it is my dear friend Matt Walker's birthday everyone give Matt a very happy birthday yeah bir card here you go you can have it any any words for the uh birthday boy thank you thank you I appreciate all that I'm humbled to be here um going Outback steakhous going Outback steakhous after this it's gonna be uh it's gonna be electric real that just sounds amazing honestly I'm jealous Matt's one of our dearest friends thank you for saying that seems like I've known Matt Walker since I was five years old it seems I've known him since what I was eight seven allegedly yeah I mean I don't believe anything you say Matthew so it's okay how do you not believe me with the mustache I'm kidding I'm kidding you act everyone look at Matthew's beautiful mustache you can tell it's real real it's pretty real but today we're goingon to go into some rankings as well as talk to Matt Walker about some things yeah so honestly I've uh I've always appreciated a man that could step up to be a leader you know to lead 11 people and a fancy football season's not easy work yeah and you know it's not Matt is our beautiful and sexy and lovely League manager in our most important League that I am in the league we all four of us in and you know I am a second time this is the second year I being a league M but I you know I just have a couple questions for the goat himself honestly uh oh my gosh you know uh what's the motivation behind being a league G I'm I'm curious what uh what sparked you taking the lead all those many years ago uh well you know um I was a child at the time and I was part of a corrupt fantasy football league there were a lot of cheats um so man with Integrity had to come up um take the title for himself and and cultivate a a better League culture and I think that's exactly what you did you know what what what's the what's the Year this year in mace is it eight or seven you know it feels like a lifetime but yeah you know but at the same time every year F by so it's that's true you know that's the that's the funny thing about time it just keep it keeps going uh that is amazing I love to hear that and what's your favorite part about being the league manager um the people the people the people I like that that's it all wor it that's very humble honestly I'm uh I like that who uh what's your uh your favorite like interactions to have just in the group T talking smack or like in person talking smack like what's what's the form of I know Matt Walker needs to you know let out some steam you know let those people know that he's League M you know talk your smack make that make that punishment you got to let them know you know chirin's always good I always love the big draft order reveal that's huge that's that's my favorite moment I love to see Jon get a really crappy pick every year it's great makes my day better IAD pick every year Garrett Wilson Garrett Wilson is amazing though I mean Pick 12 is not a bad pick in our draft that's the pick John got get a grip okay I got I got pick nine I would argue my pick is worse than yours honestly you have the worst pick in the draft because but you know what I think you're gonna you're gonna shock the world you're gonna take that pick nine and shove it up everyone's throat or down everyone's throat I'm Sorry by taking in our in our in our other league I have picked four which is pretty good pick am I yeah not I mean not until I steal your pick because I'm pick three so oh are you I am pick three yeah who you taking I have no idea actually I hope hall or CD lamb I hope CD lamb to be real I'm a big CD lamb lover this year actually who's going for uh Ty Co yeah I don't know who's Fallen to four oh [ __ ] you're ay Matt's four I think right oh you're you're four in our draft okay on if it's RB heavy or receiver heavy true Matt who's uh who's been coming to you a lot um I've been getting Bree Hall a good amount but then Bree Hall can also go like second or third true I sometimes end up with Bree Hall he Bree Hall's a weird pick this year he should be picked 12 but that's my argument me oh my gosh actually Kelsey a lot my drafts Mr I love Kelsey yeah Travis or Jason Jason yeah drafting I'm drafting I'm drafting a center in our office who is retired is retired just figured it's worth the clarification yeah thank you John thank you John um does anybody else have any questions for Mr Sexy League manager no I've talked to him enough wow how do you deal with all the demands of the people and not go crazy it's tough it's tough it's difficult um yeah everyone's yelling at you in the chat everyone's yelling at me from all angles uphold this do this uphold this veto that you know um but you know cool heads always Prevail I like that I like a man that will never crack Under Pressure because he's that cool I like that Matthew do you think you can relate to that sentence right there will you not crack under this year's pressure you know I don't think you've won a playoff game yet wow um what are you going to do this year to make sure I have won a league that yeah a [ __ ] useless League that I was in Flagstaff with come on now this is the league that this is the league that rocks because this is the league that John has two rings in and I there was 10 legitimate people in that League uh no what no you're not calling those people legitimate no they because they kind of sucked at Fantasy Football well guess what I still won so wow we've had do I do you see the rings that John's holding up though I I don't think you have any we've had people in our leagues that suck before does that mean no that's not true we've always had actually I think every single person in our league is always been competent like I think they can compete for a title title every year let's get into if we agree or disagree with the people yeah let's not be so uh what's the word neutral because that's boring so neutral oh so you're going to take some hot takes okay for sure oh my gosh I don't know if they're hot but I think an Anthony Richard in the top uh I don't know 10 is a little insane okay hold really 10 is insane you're telling me that you would rather take Jordan love bro he played four games the amount of oh my God Beast though yeah every game he was a Monster yeah so was Joshua dos not every game but heame he had a nice little run there so shout out okay I think anthy Richardson is a bit high at five I will give you that I would take stoud and burrow over for sure stoud burrow Prescott Murray love and that's probably where that ends yeah I probably take Prescott over him too I'm not taking love I think Richard sends ad five love probably not but I think Jordan Love Actually is overrated and I loved him last year but I don't like his receiving core honestly they're kind of smelly I feel like Watson gets hurt all the time he has two receivers that that are going to have over 200 fantasy points this year interesting yeah that's a that's an interesting take for sure it's not only a take it's gonna happen because uh Christian Watson had over 100 um and then uh who's the other guy that they have oh he doesn't even know the other receiver why do I need to why how believe believe well the other one did a lot better than Christian Watson it's Jaylen Reed yeah it's Jaden um oh so now you know his name wow oh I don't think it is Jaden hold on oh look I'll look I'll look I mean I'll say you did mispronounce some names in the last episode Griffin oh that sounds 100% correct it was just I think it was RA Rashid rice I think you were saying Rashid rice Rashid rice Rashid rice I'll find him I'll find him I'll find them okay I'll find them first I'm looking too fast we're not supposed to be on receivers yet John well this is important oh shoot it is Jaden wow oh it's too easy all right that's fair anyways uh yeah love is overrated in the sense that he's like 12 he's not top 10 interesting definitely definitely peculiar yeah give me uh Anthony Richardson over love every single day actually I agree I agree I agree with do or no no I don't I agree with uh this scow caribel I would ALS Richardson Over N thank you Matthew I do got I'm gonna be real with you I don't know why uh Justin Herbert is red that low because he's terrible he's not a terrible quarterback Andy Andy has a foot injury that's gonna linger the entire season oh well I did not know that oh he's a uh F6 yeah that kind of makes sense actually you got a plantar fascia injury which is on the bottom of your foot ouch ouch um so yeah not only is he mid and he's lost all his receivers but he's also injured let's look at let's look at the worst quarterback on here I don't think he's made the bottom Daniel Jones that's real I think he's way too high he should be 32 but I guess this look yeah when you're watching Daniel Jones go to 32 and he throws a pick in his own End Zone that's insane you know um Daniel Jones stinks I used to be a believer but now he uh sucks oh Jared Goff at 20 makes no sense you think he should be higher absolutely he finished top 10 last year yeah I think he should be a bit higher give me Goff over Ro actually no who back I was gonna say Rogers but then I take that back because Rogers has um oh gol is eight I told you he was top 10 wow he was above momes look at Jordan love top five buter no it's no it's fine it's cool yeah but Jordan love kind of smell let's take a look at anony Richardson uh well he got hurt know I'm I'm kidding oh wow H look at dos he's above him no I'm just kidding D dos finished 30th overall that's actually better than I would have guessed well he he played so he had one of those G like he had a game where he just threw like four picks and lost a fumble why was getting blended in here we are here we are Jos at 20 okay um um nice kyl Island anyway I don't know why Nathan Nathan Peterman Nathan Peterman did Nathan pman play last year uh no well he must have because he wouldn't be on actually no you're right maybe he did he wouldn't be on this if he didn't he must have played like one game or something Tim Bole Nathan Peterman um but no no no no he wouldn't have to be on this list because I feel like oh wait zero yeah I was about to say I don't think Skyler Thompson played he got negative point4 bro yeah he got negative point4 his final season stats well I think in order to be this you have to be like bro just not played I guess bro should have just stayed at home stayed at home on the couch I don't for sure honestly I gotta call it out Matt your background's amazing gotta say you got the whole team behind you you know someone's got to call that out watch they're gonna I appreciate that you know Matthew's got the northern lights going I like that right I was looking for some other ones but I haven't done this one yet so yeah shout out um shout out the northern also I have another take to uh to drop okay what's that it's not GNA be a favored take okay you yours usually aren't yeah what the hell is this oh Josh at one one across the board I don't I don't know if he's one across the board in the sense that using digs has no effect he is fire but yeah I would honestly pick oh he lost Diggs and Davis so I mean I love getting Josh down don't get me wrong but like part of me wants to put Mahomes over him and F I think Mahomes is gonna be a fantasy I love Herz and momes well Mahomes got a bunch of targets yeah like Mahomes actually has people that know how to catch who who finished number one last year here's the receiver I mean Josh Allen did Josh Allen finished number one I and Keon Coleman are his receivers now so yeah like I think the the people are really banking on the fact that he's just going to run for a lot of touchdowns and yards which it I mean that's the same reason with Jaylen uh Jaylen hurts but at the same time he does not have targets give me why does it keep highlighting like Stu above it stop you chicken you chicken so I I would take all of these guys before Josh what is your all those you take before Allan what yeah you're crazy dude honestly get in the get in theur bro hold on just Kidd okay we're here okay I was seeing who they had below like I would draft I'd probably draft Taylor over Robinson have fun with [Music] that but I guess I wouldn't change that much but uh jir at six is amazing I'm so happy that he like panned out last year so I was like oh he's gonna be my rb2 the whole year and then he pinned out except when David Montgomery stole all of his touchdowns at one probably gonna end up with Barkley at nine hey Barkley is a great pick when you have a a solid offensive line that does wonders to a running back let me tell you yeah think can stay healthy Travis etan's low I'm gonna be honest I think a chain might be low is that how you see his name a Chan is not 16 I can tell you that he's over Mixon and Josh Jacobs honestly yeah I'd agree with that even though Raheem mustard is in that back field he's old I would honestly he into the 10 spot I agree with that John let me I want see how mostard I think is either 32 or 33 which is pretty old for running back okay he is 32 which is yeah it's pretty old Beast yeah I mean he's still gonna be good but I don't like cook white Mixon or Jacob's above hn and and similar numbers James Cook is rated way too high a Bills fan James Cook does not cook he he honestly gets he's great but at the same time he's not 10 like he's not 12 what the [ __ ] where is he he's top 15 but he's not 12 oh yeah I missed him he was at 11 last year yeah I mean I just don't yeah you know how that goes you know how that goes I do know who's the worst Kendry Miller okay sure I don't care really let's look let's look at some other ones here this guy's underrated Zeke is still playing football which is awesome Zeke is also kind of get there yeah um Matthew this person what's up honestly Mr G didn't know who that person was either yeah I I don't know who Jonathan Brooks is so um if they're like if they're new I probably don't know them as much Matt I have a take that I'm interested to hear your opinion on he it is zamir White gonna finish top 15 this year oh um I think he could for sure I mean love zamir white this season last season didn't he he did when um Jacobs was injured that whole time I mean zamir white he is the only person in that back field I know that says like not great things because running backs like that can still suck but oh his volume is insanity like the the Raiders quarterbacks suck like they're going to be running the ball entire time and Madison has not taking his job oh my God I forgot Madison is the backup now yeah no shot how do you guys feel was running like oh sorry I was just gonna say Madison was not fun to have in Fantasy last year at all how do you guys feel with Derrick Henry at at 10 he's old too I actually 40 isn't he he's still good though he's 29 isn't he John I think I I think he's 30 oh I swear to God I think he's I feel like he's been in the league since I was like eight years old true yeah but I I think Derrik I think I would put a chain over Henry definitely I'm gonna be real Alvin Kamar is not 11 oh he's 30 yeah okay January 4 million so that's what he did last year dudee is an absolute unit 62 247 I mean Derrick Henry is the like Peak Running Back physique to have on a team bro he can run fast he's giant so no one's tackling him he can honestly I've seen him catch a lot too who's the fattest running back uh it was Eddie Lacy at one point okay oh yeah I don't know who the fattest would be probably nobody uh probably Zeke no I don't think he weighs more than Henry well but Henry's all muscle yeah Zeke's just um kind of gross just fat just rolls that's true I guess Hen Henry probably may have the most weight but he's not it's you know it's it's funny to really see Austin Eckler's downfall just one year later is kind of crazy I was thinking why are you moving Trey Bon what is going on he's trying to move him um but I just it's it's it's crazy it's crazy to see that because how does one become washed that hard like I'm afraid that's going to happen to Aaron Jones because they were selected in the same draft who got washed so hard I missed the name you said Austin yes yeah a andler with um yeah well the issue with him is he's really bad um and he's I me's 29 he's almost 32o he also went to Western State yeah you know like Western State yeah look at he's a fraud in his preseason he's a fraud real four yards in the preseason game that's crazy real I would not sleep on Austin Eckler you're gonna you like a bit of uh Mr Austin on your team Matt I think he's worth like at least a bench stash oh absolutely yeah but I would never put him as a starter though yeah like he was going pick three last year now he's like lowend running back three if he's there I definitely it's crazy I did never expected a running back to dip so hard in one season yeah I guess I guess if he's available in the final round of the draft I'll just okay come on I mean doesn't help that Brian Robinson's also there and I feel like they're gonna use Brian Robinson more because he's Bri Robinson senior or junior junior okay I was say let's go through the running backs and pick see who we like who would pick Austin Eckler over yeah I mean honestly Brian Robinson might just be better than Austin Eckler this year over wait over ecka that's yeah who you take he's pretty low or who wouldn't you take over Eckler I guess that would be better um like who would you take Eckler over um go down I would take most certain Brooks over Eckler yeah yeah same uh I would take yeah I'd honestly put Eckler lower what I'm taking Gus Edwards he honestly does like Brooks and moster and honestly maybe single Terry should be above him here's the list I would take before yeah like honestly I agree oh my Gibson I would not I know you're not highlighting him but oh yeah honestly we have to talk about Antonio Gibson Gibson is awful once a once a call once an episode Gibson's just a smelly I like how it's showing him preseason so that means wait but Eckler did play the preseason why is it showing preseason stats anyway whatever let me see how did shout out Gibson I don't even recall man I want you to tell me who's your favorite fantasy player you've ever had on your team and give me the year oh that's a good question um I mean Brandon iuk was like he like way outpunched his ADP for me last year oh my God Brandon was so good last year was honestly pretty much the entire Niners team was good last year yeah but auk was crushing it but I gotta say my favorite fantasy player ever was the year I won a ring in this league Mr Mike Thomas his only like out like oh my God Michael Thomas when he was on that year led me to that ring oh my God all I was bad memories of him I know Michael bench and not playing every sing season that's why I for some reason that next year I was like I'm not touching Michael Thomas like at all like he was going really early but I was like I was not going to touch him after that one year because I was like knowing the Saints they're not going to let me have like two Good Seasons in a row so I had him last year he ended up playing but I traded him away to someone I mean yeah he was mid the entire year yeah I kind of like like oh he's GNA get better for sure look up uh Mr Michael Thomas on what his stats were last year because it made me like I so annoyed seeing that man in fantasy I kind of forgot he existed Michael William Thomas Jr 23 he got a good name 448 yards yeah like he's so mid look at 2022 171 I guess he got injured but yeah he only played three games yeah but that uh 2019 season is GNA be Unforgettable for me yeah 1700 god dude literally lowkey a good season he literally carely definitely lowkey good 108 yards a game his average geez Louise Matthew what is uh your most favorite fantasy player ever on a team of yours pleas say James White and why is it why and why is it Rex berad I think I've only had James White like once maybe yeah I don't believe that you traded with JN all the time you ended up with okay he he didn't have James White every single year I wish I did there no John's the biggest James wife truther maybe twice I had him because John traded away for me and I bought into the James White phandom I just think that yeah I was about to say you just joh John loves James White that's true who's my favorite get John literally selling cars and John's gonna cook I'll tell you one of my least favorite players is dvin cook oh my God he does every year I had him he did not cook God what like when he went to the Jets he genuinely that was like the worst place for him to go ever he would never last a whole season or he' just be mid whenever I got him yeah but he's had good he's had good Seasons but on other people's teams yeah so Matt as a Vikings fan yourself how do you feel about Mr uh cook well I had Elvin cook uh one of his Good Seasons I I have nothing but fond memories to cook when he cooks he cooks but I think he's out of out of the kitchen he never Cooks on Matthew's team he's out of the kitchen right now yeah he's been out of the kitchen for a while so my favorite player on my fantasy team ever any team ever you can give me any player you've ever loved more CU you had I was going to say I do I did love up when I had not last year the year before last year I had his nastiest season ever and I got him um after Robert Woods yeah after Robert Woods and he was he was like the best receiver I believe yeah yeah it was not even close that was an unfortunate year because I passed on him a couple times because I was like oh Robert Woods is like equally as good and then I was like wow I have never been more wrong in my life I I actually knew he was gonna be good I just gave him to Matthew W and he lost the league ah was that the year you was that one of the years you won John it I think I don't know I win so often so I kind of wow you heard here for hey but what's your only loss in the final game it's Mr G it's Mr G with Michael Thomas baby you can't beat that duo you're like the New York Giants and I Tom Brady yeah the El fantasy football that's real I'm okay with the Eli Manning of fantasy football I'm okay with it what about John's favorite player in fantasy yeah about to ask I was like I thought was gonna tell me anyways team my team's changed so much um I guar I thought it was gonna be Matt Forte Matt Forte that my first year fantasy was why I won F oh my god dude I've never oh my God I'll never forget that bus like right John was like Matt Forte round three let me cook I was like this man is gonna finish dead last in our league I got a seventh yeah but this was what I remember you had Carlos Hyde at one point that year that was the year you picked Zen Gonzalez in the 10th round that was a great year of John Campbell and fantasy in the 10th round I've I've had a lot of good picks like I think having DeAndre Swift the first half of last year was pretty good Andre Seft was cooking for sure because I got him pretty low and then he just ended up being like awesome yeah the Eagles uh offensive line just makes running backs good look at uh my sanders example oh man Matthew Matthew loves mil Sanders him last year on the Panthers just just an awful time I don't even know who I've had that I tried trading so often to people and I don't I don't know if I ever got rid of him or not I can't remember you did I think eventually you dropped him because I was like Matthew he saw okay I didn't I wanted to at least get something for him actually I don't think you did drop now that I'm thinking about it no I think I did actually did you I don't know I think I end up dropping him or I gave him to someone else and they dropped him maybe he's yeah so John are you are you picking Forte as your player that's respectable the only player I can think of that I had on fantasy team for a long period of time James White yeah you yeah James White's got to be up there come on oh James White I just saw an old screenshot that's I was scrolling on my phone for old screenshots of my teams Jamal will allons oh that's so fair dude D that dude scored like a billion touchdowns I think he scored what how 20 or 17 it was like one of them just it was ridiculous yeah that was because you you buy Williams so low because he I mean he's an rb2 of a sudden he like scores 1 tou then he's just like the goat immediately yeah it's always funny because he always robbed um Swift of every single touchdown it was like literally like the Lions just do that with running backs like that happened with Montgomery this year with swift or Gibbs well yeah I mean Jamal Williams is a dog Jamal Williams is a dog unfortunately I think he's uh the number three running back on the Saints right now he's not even number two well they'll realize that that's a bad decision by we actually wearing Mr Number One wow even after what he did in that elevator uh yeah not too happy about that but that man has won me so many Fantasy games over my uh years that I've had him I got to respect dud it's important to forgive yeah it's important to realize that fantasy football you know just matters you gotta give people another chance yeah you just gota you got to take a risk on some teams you know every team is not perfect you know they got their uh that they're underdogs you know they got their ego players but I I want you guys to hear this I just found so January 2nd 2022 that's the day I won the Fantasy League and I screenshotted my team congratulations yeah so my starting quarterback for for that final game was Josh Allen wow my running backs please hold on your seats but you hate Josh Allen John yeah John you hate yeah I thought Jos Allen three interceptions that game yeah that sounds about right passing yards I do remember so Allen sucked that game but he had 21 fantasy points wow God he's just so broken man he had two he had two rushing touchdowns my god oh actually I was thinking Jaylen Herz is also one of my favorite players Jaylen Herz so absurd for a couple years I just every week I swear he would start out at two at halftime and then by the end of halftime it's like well because he sucked so bad at throwing the ball at one point he still runs the touchdowns like I literally I'll never forget that because that game was against me that he did that like the two points at half time I was like ah yes another jayen Herz Master Pats and then he drops 22 just the one guy I was happy with every single week it was always so so beautiful it always aggravated me because I was like this guy sucks in real life right now yeah but he just runs all the touchdowns I know what get ready for these running backs okay my rb1 and rb2 for the final game was Damen Harris and Rex Burkhead oh nice oh it oh that was that one that was that win I remember Rex Burke had dropped like 20 didn't he uh he got 11 but Damen Harris scored two touchdowns and got 17 so I say I remember you were in pretty rough shape there and then I had Cooper cup and a marari Cooper and then my tight end was Zack hers my Flex the guys my Flex my amazing my amazing Flex Mr oh my god raxton baros dude Ryan was so mad that he lost that he had [ __ ] he had two touchdowns that game and I believe before that was like one and it was like one he got like 20 points I believe that game I believe he had three touchdowns that entire season and two of them were that game yes John getting John getting lucky that's not real not luck there's no luck in fantasy dude it's all skill wow 100% skill it's skill and the gods so yeah you can tell you can tell it was the end of the season because my bench my goodness yeah but then the season everyone's just running on like one foot yeah I had two players that were injured and didn't play and then I had miles gasin and Ben rothberger Ben rothberger was that his last year it must have been yeah because he didn't play last year so heck yeah all right we need to go through TI thought we yeah we got to do receivers wow we're y John is jumping the gun all right T lamb at one is real I mean yeah all right so this top 10 is perfect yeah I say I don't see anything wrong with this top 10 right now uh is high I would take Adam Harrison over him okay who's High o yeah yeah honestly yeah it depends on how other quter I would take Mike Evans over cryst La what do you guys think I wouldn't disagree with that at all yeah you think Drake London you think Drake London will be Beast this year God because just if you look at Derek Drake London will be a monster don't get me wrong Captain Kirk is gonna cook you think uh know okay but oh my God I just Mike Evans is so good even though he sometimes just randomly sucks one week in fantasy oh my Lord he will get 40 and two but awesome surprisingly last year he was actually pretty consistent like H what a what a character rest of this not not a huge fan of metf but I mean 15 is whatever Hitman is way too high unfortunately I think Michael Pitman sir where's Pitman oh I see him at 12 he's fairly rated give me a Mike Evans over him and give me Drake London over him H I wouldn't do London I not London but I would do yeah I'm nervous London honestly I would do Evans though listen Captain Kirk is gonna cook just you watch undeniable of course she will yeah goated Mr top 10 Mr Mr top 10 not anymore unfortunately because he got injured I don't agree with DJ Moore being [ __ ] that low 22 DJ Moore is gonna go that actually is really low six last season and he his quarterback yeah give me him over Wadd Diggs and Debo and Brandon auk and Devonte Smith and Collins fields to Caleb Willams 16 yeah yeah honestly he's a top 15 receiver every year I just don't want it I mean I guess you can
