put it out on Front Street I don't think you need to say it I think you're wearing it I think I am wearing it who's whose jersey is that Rob it' be Patrick Mahomes my friend Patrick Mahomes and why is it special that you're wearing that today oh uh probably because he's going to Be Our Guest no way wait how did you this is a dude yeah this is a dude who is maybe arguably the most popular athlete in the world in the world and he's on he doesn't do a lot of interviews no he's known for that yeah but he's on regles piics yeah how did you get that done I don't know he must have made a mistake his scheduler uh there must have been some mixup at the office I don't know but I do know that he is very gracious just recently and this is very recently uhhuh Patrick Mahomes on the cover of time magazine saying that he is the most influential person on Earth time was saying that not magaz himself what was it time mag yeah Time Magazine so Time Magazine yeah puts Patrick Mahomes on the cover and says this person this one human yes out of all the people 8 billion out of 8 billion Souls yes this guy is the most influential person on the planet at the moment yes currently currently that's a lot that's a lot that's a lot and and he's coming to wles picks that's crazy to me believe that I'm beding that bleed it yeah bleed it it's that's why today's The Best Day Ever you all day you've been weird in a cool way like what my feet haven't touched the ground I know you floated in I was like dude what's going on and then hearing this is it's amazing it's amazing I'm so grateful that he agreed to do this he is a very sweet sweet man uh uh he's got so much I want to say pressure on him but he's got his so many demands on him so many demands on his time and it's and and and I I have I have experience demands on my time nothing compared to what this guy you are you are tongue tied and Star Struck and he's not even here yet I know because I'm a littleit I'll be honest I'm a little nervous I love it I'm a little happy I'm not a lot happy I'm a little nervous is a lot happy uh uh there's so much I want to talk to him about we don't have the time cuz I would tie up his whole day well I don't even I've never heard of him so I'm not nervous oh my God I'm just kidding how could you not know who Patrick Mahomes is truly and and the thing is I've had the the preg of knowing him since since he came to Kansas City Early yeah and and so uh he's been gracious with his time he's come to the big slick you know the the charity event we do in Kansas City that I do with Paul rud Jason stakus Dave Kenner Eric Stone Street and Heidi Gardner um and he's he's been a great supporter of that you've also done the ACC golf tournament with him I have done the ACC American Sentry golf tournament out in Tahoe and I know that I'm sorry to interrupt you I know that because you had him wish my girlfriend a happy birthday on camera that's right that's right because she's also a Kansas City fan right she's from Kansas City there you go so um I think also Kelsey was there we played as a three and and played Tahoe together um and I was winning for how long until the last three holes really and then I gave it away cuz I cuz that's what he does he comes from behind and wins oh he's a counter puncher he can't he cannot not win in the clutch really yeah so what I was like I was I was like on easy street I was like I got this in the bag I'm about to take some money off my man this is going to be legendary storytelling stuff and then he just took it back did he take it or did you fold or was it a combo combo let me ask you this do you think you and I beat Kelsey and Mahomes in a golf match if we did it would be close Okay and it would be because you're the best golfer out of all four of us okay so you on my team yeah then then then yes so are we issuing a challenge to them right now and we'll play for for a charity event yes I mean nobody will care nobody will watch I understand that but I would love the opportunity to say that rle and I beat Mahomes and Kelce yeah and they won't they won't tolerate that they're very competitive let's go so they won't they won't tolerate they'll bring their aame I I don't think they can win I think we I think we got it no and I know they have the mental you haven't felt the heat you haven't felt the heat I watched him at at the Taho tournament I watched him hit his driver 300 cuz they had a track man on us and he hit it 3 47 yards in the air and it rolled out to about 361 okay that's three not two three totally get it my best Drive is about 265 270 my best my best I'm not I'm I still I have confidence and it was in the Fairway it wasn't like off in the woods or anything it was in the Fairway that's one drive I'm just telling you you're up against some some major strength I need you confident I don't need this wobbly oh I'm in the presence of Patrick I need I need confident Rob I'm trying he's got three Super Bowl rings three Super Bowl MVPs I know um two-time NFL MVP he's he's not even he's not he's 28 I get it he's a stud everybody knows it but you know what when we do play golf against them you're not wearing that Jersey the hell I'm not I wear this jersey everywhere I know you do it's a it's it's a little much it's pretty awesome Gary I know you're a Chargers band so I won't hold it against you but go ahead and look at look at look at my jersey what do you think no you you know Rob that anytime the Chargers aren't involved I'm rooting for the Chiefs I uh you know meeting Kelsey and and being doing Tai Chi he's Rich they show him in his Mercedes yeah you know and the ladies have something to say about it too you know and it's like what's her name Lynch the girl Kelly Lynch Kelly Lynch was in that movie She's a doctor yeah and she's looking hot right as she does and then she's she looks at Dalton right when it says you know and the ladies you know something about the ladies and she's like you're going to be trouble or something like that you know and it was like it just it was the it was they went down the list he's smart he's Rich he's good with the ladies and he is a badass people they could be the same could they yes they're equivalent do you think think I mean Patrick Mahomes was built to quarterback the Chiefs right built to to do what he does dton was built to do the butt cheeks and it might go right in the middle I think it would go right in the middle oh I actually know a girl whose specialty is uh sensitive spots like hey guess what I have no questions yeah of momies uh your foundation uh just had a great great event in Las Vegas which I was lucky enough to be uh 10 I saw the pictures on your insta and it I'm very jealous what what what can I say I'm very jealous just I'm helping the cause man yeah right cool cool golf Rob Rob gets a plus one you just got get to be that plus one bro from the guy himself what's up oh I'm going to take my lady now You' now you've done it Mahomes now you've done it now you've done it now you done it uh no but honestly your event is it's been fun to watch it grow over the years and this year was I think banner I think it was a really great event uh tell us about the 15 in mahomies for those who who don't know yeah no uh so 15 in mahomies Foundation that I I started here in Kansas City and actually it's Kansas City my hometown in Tyler Texas and LC Texas where on Texas Tech is where we kind of specialize in and we give back to the to kids in the communities that I came from um kids with either disabilities or come from underserved underserved communities and we try to give them the opportunities that I got and was lucky enough to get uh growing up and um there's just so many great kids in this world that have great ideas and I want to give them those opportunities to go out there and maximize those and so um it it really has been cool to see it grow I mean Rob's been there since the beginning and from the first tournament to this last one I think it's just exponentially gotten better and better and it speaks to the communities that I've been in man they've really embraced it and I mean you know just like anybody else Kansas City really Embraces the the players as people and um it's made my my Foundation grow even bigger than I ever would have expected yeah well it's it's such a cool thing you do and I love how much you embraced Kansas City too like you you you went all in you went all in you know you he he uh he he supports the Royals he's he's part of the whole Royals package the team uh uh he's part of the Chiefs he's he's he's bought a home there he's building a life there um and and and not just uh you know as a visitor I I mean he's like this is I'm in you're in yeah and I respect that so much and by the way thank you uh uh Patrick's coming to Big slick this year so thank you also for coming and supporting Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City too so it's a it's a great City man I mean you know um the people are what make the city they truly embrace the the culture of of the entire city and the people that are in it and it brings people together and uh it's been special to me and my family um and big Slate's amazing I'm glad I get to come I don't I don't get to be at the softball game I'm really gotta go to the White House gota Go I mean some things some things you got to handle you know you got to do game White House I I get it yeah I get it I I totally understand totally get it um so let's get down to Brass tax you have won back to back Super Bowls you the the Run you've been on is probably the greatest football run I've ever seen in my entire life uh and now you're at the precipice of doing something that's never been done the three peat how are we feeling how are we feeling dude I'm feeling excited I actually just got back from practice right now um dude it's uh it's it's awesome to see the energy um even from last year this time to this year you can just tell that everybody is even hungrier I think last year there was so much we let's do this back to back everybody was so tense and we needed to be perfect with every little thing and now it's just like that weight's been lifted off your shoulders you can just go out there and be who you are and um I think what Co coach Reed and BR be do is they get a they do a great job of bringing back players but also adding new guys and so when these new guys come in and they haven't won the Super Bowl they're they're hungry and they want to go out and press you every single day and so uh it pushes you to be great man um and uh it's going to be a it's going to be a heck of a ride and I'm excited for it and it's been a uh hell of a ride to this moment so uh it's been it's been a lot of fun times here in Kansas City and we're gonna try to keep it rolling well you got some great talent coming in too so that like you said you know they they they do a good job uh the the the GM and the coach and you know they they do a good job they do what they're supposed to do which is you know keep feeding the Beast keep uh you know keep putting keep putting players in that are going to make a difference so I'm I'm excited for this uh this British guy um the the the rugby player yeah that's I hear he's fat is he I don't people ask me about him all the time like I don't know much about him is is he are you thinking about him like a slotback type of receiver him at running back um he's gonna do a lot of special team stuff and he can actually catch and so it it looks different he catches it like he's catching a rugby but he never drops the football so uh you don't don't complain on it and I think what's been the best part about it is he works works his tail off man he understands he needs to get better um he needs to continue to work um but the athletic ability is unreal I mean the 24 miles per hour wherever they clocked him m in rugby is real my boy he's fast and um just about him learning football now compared to rugby and you know he's got the toughness um but until he gets in the game and understands how to move um and how to use that athletic ability uh you don't know exactly where he's at but when he's in space man he can make stuff happen that's awesome and then also the the the our new wide receiver from Texas and I'm telling these Texas guys they know how to play football man no they really do uh so that's another weapon that you got to be excited about 100% um we added him um he's been out there running around another guy fastest 40 at the combine 421 I mean he's he's extremely fast it's good to get those young guys in there and they get the experienced coach Reed's practices which are a little bit harder than I think they've ever experienced before um but getting him in there and then another guy Hollywood Brown Maris Brown he's been in there another super fast guy and it's it's good for them to go up against our defense I mean we had the best defense in the league this last year I know for them to get to compete against those dudes and there's a lot of trash talk it's a healthy trash talk but I I love it just being able to go up against the best of the best every single day that's that iron sharpens iron right and that what they say is that what the the Bible says I think iron sharpens iron I'm I'm gonna ask a question and it's not football related because I'm sure Patrick I'm sure you get football questions all day long who's gonna win the Tyson fight oh yeah H um I I this is what my analysis is if it goes longer than two rounds it's going to be Jake Paul but if Tyson hits I mean that's still a powerful punch that's what dude I've been watching those training videos and he looks Wicked yeah I I couldn't agree more because the man is 57 years old for crying out loud do matter but but I'm with you because if it if it's a long fight it works against Tyson totally but Tyson's so violent and so powerful that if he gets a hold of you in those first two rounds it's got to be lights out right you can't stop that trade now next question do you want to ask it you go would you you ever consider for what's the price to get in the ring with Mike Tyson there's zero price on me get R same I'm the same I've never been a big fighter in general like I mean if it's life or death I'll defend myself but uh I used let the big guys do it so uh it's it's uh definitely not something that I'm I'm looking to do after I'm deal with my career that and the the roast I'm not doing a roast eat I don't know I don't know which would be worse getting with Tyson or getting roast yeah well you know they're both going to hurt for a while yeah yeah emotions or your face one of the two that sucks well you're you're very smart to to to make that uh make that call and I'm kind of with you I think I was we were debating it earlier in here and I was saying I don't know maybe I'd get like if it was life-changing money I would probably get in uh and take a thrashing it would be over so quick it would be like one punch and I'm down with a shattered rib cage or or a speech impediment for the rest of my life but you're going in for 5 mil right but I mean that's where it starts that's that's where it starts because that's that's retirement money I'm start if you got 350 bucks I'll I'll get in I'll jump in I'll just take a shot and go down are you just want to pay off your parking tickets yeah well you gotta go you gotta aim higher than that man dude let's be real I was stay I didn't know you were supposed to pay off parking tickets that was he's got them see he gets it he totally gets it he's got to stack this eye what is your uh what's your summer look like I mean I know you're you're you're going to be super busy are you shooting a bunch of commercials like I always feel bad for you guys when you're on your downtime because you everybody says oh it's they're on downtime I'm like I don't think they get a break I don't especially you you're so high-profile and so in demand right now I don't feel like you get a downtime doesn't exist for you man yeah it's um so I before Co happened I we were supposed to go to Europe so this is going to be the summer that I go to Europe with Britney and the kids and yeah um spent about three and a half weeks over there um so I've had a knockout commercials um all up until this point so I'm getting them all done right before the end of a a mini camp and get kind of getting a free three weeks to go over to Europe uh we're g to bounce around I'm gonna go to Wimbledon I'm gonna go to the British Grand Prix um and so it's going to be it's gonna be really cool to experience some of those things and get to see a whole another side of the world um in a sense and we've kind of I was that trip was planned right before covid and then I had back-to-back kids so I haven't got to get back over there and now it's the time to go he's back to back kids backto back rings and now it's time to chill yeah now now it's time to enjoy some C light no we got a few more kids a few more Rings you know whatever yeah come on that's what I'm talking about just casual kids and Rings I love it kids and Rings that's amazing oh my gosh that is awesome hey so when you did your Netflix thing I got to ask about that because that was really cool I really enjoyed that did you enjoy that process I did um and they they gave me a lot of freedom on who kind of came to film me what they filmed um the hardest part was getting coach re to let him in the building and let him film some of that stuff that we do there yeah um but he was he was great about it um he he actually interviewed and did parts of it too so it was cool to have him and seeing his perspective um but I think the biggest thing that I wanted to get from it I talked to pton uh Manny about this was he regretted a little bit his kids not being able to see the day-to-day grind of what it took to be the player that he was and um being able to shoot that with my kids and my my son was born during that year and um seeing us go on to win the Super Bowl I'm like I'll have that forever and they'll be able to see that and know that Dad just wasn't gone for no reason that I was out there trying to to win championships and and do a lot of great things and and they get to be a part of that and so it was definitely something that I hopefully I'll get to do again at some point after they go around and get some other quarterbacks um but uh it definitely was a cool experience and I don't know if I'm an actor but a documentary where I can beat myself uh is something that I'm really interested in yeah know that you you nailed it too because whatever a dozen years from now when your when your children are old enough and they they start to dial in you know and in the early years they don't know what Dad does they they don't care they just want to get down on the floor and play with you right but at some point they do start to go what does Dad do why is everybody wondering what Dad does that is going to be such a wonderful slice of history for them to go back and watch and see the grind the sacrifice the pain the you know the struggle and it it will be it'll be invaluable it'll be invaluable yeah and that's that's what I I wanted from it and I think you saw that in the in the documentary and I think it opened a lot of people's eyes of um what we really sacrific to go out there and and be great football players and try to perform every single week and um it's a lot of time I mean they you see Sundays you see Monday nights or whatever that is but you don't see all the workouts that you do all throughout the week the time that you spent away from your family and um I think it gave a better perspective of what we kind of endure in order to go out there and be great and um and any profession man you got to put in the time if you want to be great at it yeah I I agree that's it's uh um I always sound like an old crusty man when I talk about the younger generation but I I always tell them there's no shortcuts you just got to do the work you know you just got to do the work they don't want to hear that they want to hear the hack but but I'm sorry you just got to do the work you got to do the work you do sound old and crusty well I do sound old and crusty I don't know if that has to do with that statement or I think that's separate just in general speaking of old and crusty nice segue well done speaking old and crusty how do you I I've always been Amazed by this and it's not just you it's all quarterbacks in the league you know you play you go out there you prepare all week you put in these hours you play a hard game you put your heart and soul into it you put your body on the line you're beat up you're bruised you have to go to the postgame interview and these these gold crusties yeah ask you the dumbest questions on Earth and and how how do you maintain your bearing every week on those press conferences when they're when you just want to say are you effing kidding me dude you know like God [ __ ] do you ever do you ever like you get the question and you in your mind like this is separate from all the the the fame and success do you ever go is this guy serious right now I gotta ask this answer this question yeah and yeah you do it you do it very professionally like even the most annoying questions you know you always handle it very professional but I'm do you ever go back in the locker room and start punching a wall like I feel like it would drive me nuts no it does um it's part of it's part of the profession it's part of being a quarterback and having to St on that Podium and talk win or loss and yeah I think what I've done and I've mastered is being able to say a lot of words without saying anything at all and so um that's that's my that's my go-to whenever I get a question I might necessarily like I I'll just say a lot of different words but it really means nothing all right they need let's run it right now ready genius Patrick it was a great game out there you guys really tried and uh you came up short so uh what are your thoughts on the game yeah I mean it's always great to to get out there and and do whatever you can to try to find a way to get a win but at the same time it's not always going to go your way and so for us it's about going back to the drawing board putting in the work and then seeing what we can do next week that was a master class that I know I'm I I got to get up and walk that off that was a master class the cliches are always good too you got you gotta say stuff that you've heard before just keep repeating them over and over again it that was brilliant that was brilliant that's why your Champion yeah that's why you're a leader that's why he SE that's why he you just saw yeah Excellence you know not it's like football aside phenomenal freak Show football playing but the answer yeah that's the art God bless that makes me happy that that was good for my soul yeah I mean who's gonna get that in an interview how's your golf game Let's Get Down also brass tax how's the golf game coming golf game is really really good right now um the I actually the first three weeks of OTAs my my family stayed in Dallas so I was here by myself and I'd fly home on the weekends but that means four days a week of just golf all all day long after practice and so um I went to Augusta played really good out there oh my gosh what was that like what you shoot it it actually my second time going and playing um the first day I shot a 77 from the members te's which is a lot closer than the pro teas and then I was like you know meet confidence I was just like well I'm going to the proe I mean what are we talking about did not shoot a 77 the second day for the pro I'll just say that did you did you break 90 a a very lenient 90 you know it was one of those where I was like you know it's behind a tree I'm G to move it a little yeah the the foot wedge it was a little little foot wedge 84 I believe it was and so a little foot wedge 84 we that's that's still pretty amazing I I think there's like some crazy there's some crazy stats that most uh players won't break a 100 I mean you know even even like 15 handicaps won't break a 100 um but that's that's nuts for that track your game is getting real tight it's getting real good here I played good I played good at um the 15m homies classic too um I believe Travis cheated I just want to put that on record copy that by the way it's noted it's duly noted and you're not alone I might back you on that when they said Travis Kelce won I said there's no way possible but uh I let him have the trophy I let him have it what's your what's your handicap right now um I stopped I stopped doing my handicap once I got to seven because seven felt good okay so you're you're permanent seven for three years permanent seven oh that's a hustler actually that's good that's a hustler that's smart that's just smart H you know look if you need a plus one for the next 15 in M homies I'm in hey by the way Darren is a three I'm four one right now he's a three anyway um and I'm a I'm a 10 [ __ ] 95 I round up I'm a 95 Roundup but that being the case you and Kelsey me and D will'll take we we'll play golf in Kansas City for some high stakes love it let's do it but the thing with Trav he only gets like 12 holes Max like that's all you can give him man his attention span is just so short that's why I don't know if you remember us in the match we won against Steph and clay and I'm like yeah there's no reason we should win but if you can let Travis Focus for just like nine holes yeah then he's a great golfer it's just after that it kind of gets down here oh that's amazing that's it's true cuz you know a full 18 you got to you got to play the full 18 to focus and that's what's impressive about pro golfers think about walking four days in a row focusing every single shot all that energy I don't think people appreciate it unless you play the game how difficult that is yeah I'm I'm impressed with your 77 at Augusta that's nuts that's you're playing good golf it was it was it was I was putting the ball well I was listening to my caddy I was I was hit and the thing is when you play in the members teas it's not as far so I didn't have to hit my driver as much and that's usually get in trouble is the driver so it was nice to just be able to smack a forearm down the middle and then uh figure it out from there so for all the people listening at home uh um uh I got to play with with Patrick and Kelsey at Tahoe and on one of the holes the 16th hole they had it's a long par five and they had a track man set up and I watched Patrick Mahomes hit a drive 347 in the air rolled out to 361 347 carry yeah carry to and it rolled out it rolled out to 361 I'm not gonna say I can always hit it straight but I can hit it far 347 Carrie Carrie that's that's nuts I watched it I believe it I watched it it's crazy yeah and it was a par five it was a par five and he had like a nine iron into the into the green dude yeah it was sick I'll still take the challenge that's my ego that's my I want to go do it right now I think you're biting off more than you can I know I am but sometimes you just go to Don't Be Afraid hey by the way the Royals are looking good really good I'm stoked I am stoked it's really cool man I so I got here right after they kind of went on that run where they won the World Series and won those championships and so um I haven't got to see playoff baseball and the K so let's get that thing going this year let's get that thing going I believe playoff baseball yes I believe it I really do this has been a great day I'm I you know what honestly clearly you're step but what is making me the happiest is watching him freak out and it's it's killer I've had this Perma smile on my face all day today Patrick and I've been walking around bragging to everybody I'm like oh yeah Mom's gon be we got Mahomes that's cool so by the way I do want to thank you so much for taking time out because I do their opinion on and no one really knows it's really an exactor who do you want to win because I Tyson I want tysonn I want Tyson to win I I I like the old guy I like I I like that he's a warrior who's who you know I just like him do you think it's generational he's he's made a lot of uh changes he's done a lot of personal growth I don't know do you think it's that like we're of the age where we watch Tyson actually fight and we we feel connected to himal kids are like oh Jake Paul's going to win I think it might be that also I think you know Tyson he lived the life walked the walk was a warrior Jake Paul not going to take anything away from him he clearly has the power and the capability to fight box knock people out he's got skills but he he started as a as a as a social media you know Instagram star at 16 or whatever and I'm like I don't know how he fought anyone any boxers in their Prime that's the qu cuz he's F he did Mayweather he did Conor mcgregory or whatever he whatever he's done I'm not saying he can't fight don't get me wrong I want to see him fight a contemporary and see what that's like but in the meantime we have a fight to root for Tyson we want him to win I do
