IN THE MEANTIME, IT IS CENTS A GREAT DAY FOR A RUN, AND THOUSANDS ARE ABOUT TO POUNDS THE PAVEMENT FOR THE PHILLY 10 K. "EYEWITNESS NEWS" REPORTER MATT PETRILLO JOINS US LIVE FROM SOUTH AND EIGHTH STREETS WHERE RUNNERS ARE TAKING THEIR MARK. MATT, GOOD MORNING. Reporter: GOOD MORNING TO YOU, YES, JUST SAW 5,000 PARTICIPANTS JUST RACE DOWN SOUTH STREET HEREBY EIGHTH STREET. THAT IS LOT OF FUN, HAPPENING HERE, AND NOW WE HAVE VOLUNTEER JOINING US LIVE, HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THIS FOR? THIS IS MY FIRST YEAR. I RAN LAST YEAR. THIS IS MUCH DIFFERENT RUN THAN A LOT OF OTHER RUNS ON THE PARKWAY, MUCH MORE SCENICS WATCH DO YOU SEE. TERRIFIC. YOU RUN THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOODS, YOU JUST PEOPLE ARE OUT ON THE STREET, AND THEY'RE CHEERING YOU ON, ENCOURAGING YOU, YOU GET TO SEE PART OF THE CITY. IT IS GREAT. AND EVERY YEAR, THE PHILLIES 10K, DIFFERENT BEN HE FACTOR. THIS YEAR THE SOUTH PHILLY BOOT CO-OP. THEIR MISSION IS MAKING SURE THAT EVERYONE HAS HEALTHY ACCESSIBLE FOOD. HOW GREAT IS IT THAT THEY'RE ALWAYS GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY? TERRIFIC. OUR ORGANIZATION, THIS CITY IS A SIT OF GIVING BACK. SO, ALL VOLUNTEERS HERE, AND ORGANIZATIONS LIKE PHILLY FOOD CO-OP CAN'T DO WITHOUT THEM. THEY ARE TERRIFIC. AND HOW MUCH TRAINING DOES IT TAKE TO DO 10K? THAT'S A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN 6 MILES, THAT A TAKES A LOT OF WORK. YES. YOU KNOW, USUALLY, I'M NOT A RUNNER AND I SO I STARTED THREE MONTH BEFOREHAND. AND JUST WORKED MY WAY INTO IT SO YES. DO YOU HAVE GET UP EVERY DAY AND DEDICATE YOURSELF TO IT. IT IS A GREAT GOAL TO V GREAT BENEFIT, AS WELL. IF OH, AND IT LOOKS LIKE THERE IS A COUPLE MORE RUNNERS, SECOND GROUP HERE ABOUT TO TAKE OVER ANY MOMENT. POUNDING THE PAVEMENT. HERE WE GO. THE SECOND GROUP HERE, AGAIN, 5,000 RUNNERS POUNDING THE PAVEMENTMENT AND COOL THING ABOUT THIS RUN IS THAT THERE IS TOO MUCH THREE WINNERS GET CASH PRIZES AT THE ENDS, TOP WINNER GETS 250 BUCKS, SO CASINO EVERY NEAT, LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN COUPLE OF OTHER RACES WE HAVE HERE IN PHILADELPHIA.
