RANGE, THIS AFTERNOON, 78 DEGREES FOR THE HIGH. THANKS VERY MUCH. GREAT DAY TO GET OUT FOR A RUN, RIGHT? SIXTH ANNUAL PHILLY 10K IS UNDERWAY AND THUSES OF RUNNERS ARE RACING THROUGH THE STREETS OF THE SOUTH PHILADELPHIA AND CENTER CITY AS WE SPEAK. "EYEWITNESS NEWS" REPORTER CRYSTAL CRANMORE LIVE IN SOUTH INJURIES THINK MORNING. CRYSTAL A GREAT DAY FOR A RUN THIS MORNING. THAT IS WHAT RUNNERS ARE TELLING ME TURF SAY I HAVE TO GIVE THEM PROPS FOR RUNNING THIS 10K, AND I ACTUALLY START TODD WALK FROM EIGHTH AND SOUTH STREET ALL THE WAY TO THE FINISH LINE, AND I'M ALREADY OUT OF BREATH. IT LOOKS LIKE OUR FIRST RUNNERS ARE ABOUT TO CROSS THE FINISH LINE, LOOK AT THIS GENTLEMEN GO. THERE HE GOES, THAT LOOKS LIKE OUR FIRST RACER TO CROSS THE FINISH LINE RIGHT THERE. HOW AWESOME IS THAT? I WANT TO GET SOME VIDEO OF THE PART OF THE RACE THAT STARTED AGAIN AT 7:30 THIS MORNING. THIS RACE HAS ABOUT 4500 PEOPLE TAKING PART THIS YEAR. THERE IS A 4500 WOMEN I'M TOLD THE GOAL TO KEEP THIS RACE INTIMATE, AND SMALL, NEIGHBORHOOD FRIENDLY, NOW THIS RACE IS ACTUALLY PRETTY UNIQUE. WE ARE TOLD IT GOES FROM SOUTH PHILADELPHIA, THROUGH PARTS OF THE CENTER CITY. IF YOU ARE NO THE FROM THIS AREA YOU GET TO SEE DIFFERENT NEIGHBORHOODS, HISTORICAL FEATURES, ITALIAN MARKET. IF YOU ARE IN THE FROM PHILADELPHIA YOU GET TO SEE PRETTY NEAT AREAS OF PHILADELPHIA. 1 MILES LONG, 4500 PEOPLE TAKING PART. WE HAVE SOME PEOPLE HERE IN PHILADELPHIA I HAVE MET PEOPLE FROM NORTH JERSEY, NEW YORK, WE SPOKE WITH ONE OF THE FOUNDERS OF THE RACE, A LITTLE EARLIER TODAY AND HERE'S WHAT HE HAD TO SAY ABOUT WHY HE STARTED THIS EVENT. YEAH, WE STARTED THIS EVENT SIX YEARS AGO MYSELF AND THE TEAM OVER AT PHILADELPHIA RUNNER. AT THE TIME THERE WAS IN THE A RACE IN THE CITY THAT WAS ENTIRELY CONTAINED WITHIN THE NEIGHBORHOODS OF THE CITY A LOT OF RACES GET OUT IN THE PARK A LOT HAVE GREAT RACE NECESSARY PHILADELPHIA WE HAVE RACE IN THE PARK, BROAD STREET RUN DOWN BROAD STREET BUT NOTHING THAT BROUGHT YOU INTIMACY OF WHAT IT IS LIKE TO RUN THROUGH PHILADELPHIA, AND WITHOUT ANY TRAFFIC, AND TO BE ABLE TO GO THROUGH THE RED LIGHTS.
