College Football Week 2 Best Bets | Picks & Predictions (2024)

Introduction what's going on everybody Scott Bogman here for betting Pros to tell you my favorite picks for week two of the college football season I'd like to remind you guys if you want to follow along on my bets love me or fade me it wasn't great week zero was pretty good week one uh but either way go to betting pros.com Bogman or follow me on the betting Pros app where you can see uh all of my picks there we're going to start out with four games that I have already picked on shows I've got one extra spread for you two totals and three player props to give you uh I'm going to start with the ones that I've already kind of gone over first I'm Utah vs. Baylor laying the points for Utah minus 14 and a half versus Baler this line has kicked around a little bit I know the BP system didn't show a ton of value uh towards the Utah side but what I really like here is I think Utah has a strong defense the the offense looked great with Cam rising and number one target Brant keithy back at tight end they had three touchdowns last week uh Dean Stanley looked great 184 yards on nine touches and two scores he was outstanding Baylor looked good too they they have a lot of returning experience but there are some big pieces from the transfer portal for them and I that is why I don't like Baylor in this game you're traveling to Utah one of the dominant teams in the Big 12 a team that could make the playoff right and Baylor is a good squad I think they're on the precipice of being really good in the Big 12 so this would be a nice uh game to at least announce your presence but it's week two you have a new quarterback uh transferring on the road I just think it's going to be a tall task for Baylor to meet Utah in this game so I'm going to lay the points and I'm going to take the Utes and um I'm not going to look back Baylor's a good squad but I think Utah wins this game going away let's go Alabama vs. USF to Bama minus 30 and a half versus USF look I got burned on this game last year I'm going back to the well here on the Alabama side but these are different teams and this is why I don't really like Trends too much I will follow them I will look at them but it's a different team kayin dor is a different coach than Nick Sabin and he's trying to prove that they were dominant last week uh this game USF was good against Beth cookman too I don't want to take anything away from them I think they are a good team probably even better than the team that they were last year right but they were in a weird spot Bama was last year uh they were coming off that Texas loss I think there was a lot of weather and rain delays and uh crazy stuff going on milro got benched he looked terrible so I think with this squad right now clicking on all cylinders like they did in week one they're at home I think this is a massive stomping by Alabama I you know maybe I'm not giving enough credit to USF again but I am willing more than willing to go out on the limb and take bama in this game I really like that one Oregon vs. Boise State I think my favorite one of the week is probably Oregon minus 18 a half for boisey state but listen you know wait until right before kickoff this line has been dipped in towards the Boise State side the entire week it opened up at 21 a half now it's down to 18 A2 so and look Oregon had that bad start I understand that it is this is a public perception thing Boise State went out and beat the tar out of Georgia Southern they really didn't beat him by that much but they scored a ton of points JT had six touchdowns 217 rushing yards th this offense looked great they returned a lot of pieces for Boise State as well specifically on the defensive side but they weren't very good on defense last year they ranked Post 100 in PFF grade and tackling run defense um you know uh I think pass coverage or coverage was the only thing they weren't uh Post 100 in and they were 91st so this is not a great team Oregon didn't look good they only put up 24 points I understand that they had eight penalties um two failed fourth down conversions Dylan Gabriel took three sacks but they still had 40 minutes of possession almost 3916 48 7 yards of total offense and they held Idaho to 217 total yards uh I think that look I think we're making too much of week one in this game right I think Oregon is still a national title Contender I think they're a big 10 Contender as well I think they're one of the best teams in the country I think Boise State um they are a dangerous team they're a very very good Mountain West team but I don't think they are in uh Oregon's level here this is a road game for them as well uh at organ I'm going to take the Ducks and lay the points um I'm going tell you guys about FanDuel here take advantage of an book is where you can get my next number at the best number it's Iowa minus 2 and a half against Iowa State and both these teams looked good last week I was sweating that under for Iowa right it was 40 and a half the final score was 40 to zip so we got it but Iowa's offense looks so good that I don't know about this under this week I still do like the under and I would lean towards it but I don't really want to bet it after what I saw from Iowa last week I think really the difference here because Iowa state had a great game against North Dakota right they did give up some rushing yards in that game though so I think the main difference in this game is going to be that you know Iowa State look good against North Dakota on offense last week you're not going to look good against Iowa right Iowa is a top 10 defense in the country still they uh run everything through that defense they win games from it this game is a game they're going to win from that defense and I'm not trusting Iowa's offense enough to get to that over which is why I don't like a lean on the total but I do think that this you know you hit a walk-off field goal in this game uh in a tie game or a low scoring game and two and a half is just I think that number is too low on the Iowa side I think they're the more complete team especially looking good on offense you know look like I said I'm not going to sit here and make a case for Iowa to be a national title Contender because their offense was good in week one but it's always better to look good than bad so they look good week one I'm going to trust them rolling at home here against Iowa State and take San Jose State vs. Airforce Iowa one that I have not mentioned yet on uh any shows is San Jose State the number has slipped down to plus three and a half at Air Force it was plus 6 and a half earlier I don't mind a straight up bet on San Jose State and the main difference in this game to me is that you know these teams in roster strength are pretty close but San Jose State looked good Air Force looked terrible in week one and again maybe week one is an aition and we're making too much of it but Air Force is replacing so many starters they have one returning starter on offense right I think they have three or four on defense it's a very low amount and they didn't put up they beat Marram but Marram is like a close to 100 ranked FCS school they're not very good so to beat them and not look good doing it gives me uh you know a little bit of a queasy feeling San Jose State beat a top 10 FCS Squad in Sacramento State they gave up some rushing yards which is uh not a great look with a triple option team in Air Force coming in but new head coach Kenya matalo from San Jose State used to run the triple option and navy when he coached there forever now they have new OC Craig suzman coming in they're going air raid on offense so I think neam matalo is going to work with the defense tell them what to expect and Air Force is down there starting fullback and if you know anything about a triple option the fullback is a very big piece of that so with these teams being equal in Talent this is a road game for San St they're going to Colorado to play Air Force but with them looking good Air Force looking terrible keny and matalo knowing a little bit about this triple option and how to stop it I'm going to side with San Jose State the public has pushed this all the way down three points already so if you want to get it you should probably get it rather quickly um two totals here for you both Northern Illinois vs. Notre Dame overs Life's too short to bet the under unless you really like it of course I got two unders last week but uh I got two overs this week Notre Dame hosting nor Illinois the total here is 44 and a half and I think there are multiple routes to this over right uh traditionally Notre Dame has been bad in let down spots especially early in the season over the last like 10 or 15 years I know the Notre Dame faithful are really nervous about this game in terms of uh covering so let's not touch the side let's just go over because I think you're going to see one of two things you're either going to see Notre Dame in in that traditional let down spot uh let NIU score and Northern Illinois put up 700 yards of offense last week albe it against a smaller FCS school once again you know Western Illinois they're a post 100 teams so 700 yards of offense looks impressive but you have to have context and the context is they weren't playing anyone very good but their offense look good again it's always better to look good than bad in week one so they are clicking on offense after week one Notre Dame wasn't but they were on the road to Kyle Field right with a brand new offensive line that was the big talking point was Notre Dame's offensive line only has uh six starts coming into Kyle Field right so that was the big talking point Notre Dame's going to beat them at the attack Point nothing could have been further from the truth Notre Dame dominated the offensive line uh of Texas A&M in that game and now they're at home they're not going to have 11 penalties like they did at Kyle Field um they failed on on fourth down their third down efficiency was terrible and they still won against A&M a uh highly rated team on the road with what is widely considered the best HomeField advantage in the country at Kyle Field so I think Notre Dame at home you you're either going to get them rolling and looking dominant without those penalties and mistakes that they had at Kyle Field or they're going to be in a let down spot and Northern Illinois's offense is clicking so let's go I mean I think think there's multiple routes to this over it's only 44 and A2 that's a 35 to 10 game wins that for you so I think that could possibly be the final score Eastern Michigan vs. Washington uh let's go to Eastern Michigan at Washington I'm taking over 48 a half here and emu Eastern Michigan they went into UMass as a dog last week and they won by 14 uh they didn't have an absurd amount of yards 375 but that was only in 24 minutes of possession so another team that has started out looking good on offense uh Chris kraton their head coach is a cover machine I really do like him they beat some P4 five and five team straight up in the past but I think this one is a little bit too lopsided Washington obviously isn't that same National Title Contender that they were last season I feel the best way to look at them is like a pretty good Big 10 team right not a national title Contender but still pretty good still working some things out but again this is another team that played a very strong Weber State FCS Squad uh they are just outside the top 25 rankings they got a couple votes uh for the FCS in the top 25 so they're a good they're a good test early for a brand new team right uh but they put up 482 yards total offense in that game uh there's been a lot of coaches kicking here but Will Rogers the incumbent from Mississippi State the transfer Jonah Coleman coming in as well they set the pace on offense defense had six transfer start and held Weber State to under 100 yards passing they did allow 155 rushing yards so that is something you need to get cleaned up a little bit but 48 and a half being the total here I think Washington does the heavy lifting I think they probably score 40 to 35 points and then we're not asking for too much from emu after that so uh I think Washington does most of the work to get us to the over here uh I Player Props have three player props I was only W for uh three last week on these so uh I'll give you a couple options in terms of yards on these but I'll tell you the players that I like and you can decide you know if you want to tail you want to fade however you want to do it but the first one is Eli Holstein the quarterback from pit and his over in passing yards I'll tell you that the uh prize picks is 261 and a half so that's kind of where they right around the line where they expect him at but I just think we're going to keep seeing pit throw the ball a ton especially against a bad Cincinnati team is a high lined over game as well 62 a half is a total since he's at home um and but Eli Holston 30 of 40 for 336 three touchdowns um and a pick against tosen last week and they passed the ball Kate new OC Kate Bell passes a ball at uh Western Carolina last year they averaged 36 pass attempts per game so tons of passing for pit is what the expectation should be especially if they are allowing Cincinnati to score this game could go point for point and be a nice little shootout so the DK odds here 250 plus is - 155 262 remember that's the line that prize pick is offering us is minus 115 so a little bit worse than even but you're getting Plus at anything 275 or more so 275 is 120 300 is 230 325 is 450 so whatever amount of risk you would like I think there's some good numbers in there on the Eli holon the quarterback from pits side here uh we're going to go with another quarterback for bet number two Baron Morton the Texas Tech quarterback passing yards Texas Tech defense gave up 500 passing yards to abene Christian last week a middling FCS team and Washington state is a air raid team High passing volume they had over 400 yards passing on only 17 completions against Portland State last week so I think with the offensive both these offenses being ahead of the defenses in this game you're going to see another shootout Washington State last season 90th and pass yards allowed uh 76 in PFF coverage grade and their back seven roster strength is 101 for Texas Tech they were 74th in passing yards allow 50th in PFF coverage grade uh but right now their back seven is 94th in roster strength so two uh back sevens linebackers and defensive backs kind of uh you know hovering right around 100 the line for uh on prize picks for Baron Morton was 250 A5 and the plus odds here that you can get on DK are 275 plus uh or more yards is plus 125 300 or more is plus 240 and 325 IS plus 450 so again you know I won't tell you guys uh where to risk or uh I'm probably going to take Underdog price picks those and I will probably go I might last Eli holin and I might pick just the most for Baron Morton at 325 um the last one is a wide receiver and we saw Zachariah branch in prime time for USC last week and it's the receiving yards this guy's electric with the ball in his hands um he almost broke a kick return Tosh Washington and uh brandan rice are gone off of this roster so he is the new number one and his line right now is 66 and a half uh or 65 and a half I believe at prize picks and there's a lot of options here at 66 plus it's minus 120 70 is even 80 plus is plus 15 155 90 or more yards is plus 230 100 more yards is plus 330 110 is plus 475 and 120 is plus 650 for Zachariah Branch so uh those are my picks for the week I hope you guys uh Closing tail them and we get some big
