The Chicago Cubs need Kyle Hendricks & Craig Counsell have their best game in a must win vs Toronto!

H it's too bad the Chicago White Socks and the Cubs don't play each other every game of the season otherwise the Cubs probably be undefeated at the very least they would be 100 games above 500 uh but look they got to play the Blue Jays next and if they don't sweep these guys or at least win the series it might be a WP on the season we gonna talk about the Chicago Cubs right after the intro to the number one place for all Chicago baseball let's start the show Good Morning Chicago Baseball fans welcome to another episode of Chicago Cub Central is your boy big Broski we back in the building man listen the Cubs look they they had everything going for him last week uh when they they ran into the Chicago White side got two quick wins won the last couple of series that they played uh but then they ran into the dog going of Cleveland cardians and got smack right back down the Earth they had an opportunity to uh to go get to 500 at the beginning of this week and here they are now uh sitting you know behind pretty much everybody in their division uh with the exception of I believe the Pitsburg Pirates um so St Louis is in front of them Cincinnati is in front of them and of course Milwaukee is leading the division so the Cubs have work to do they entered today five and a half games out of the last wild card spot and just way too far behind in the division standings to uh to even talk about uh you know winning the division and uh today is just it's not a good day I mean they're going against the Blue Jays they're at home versus them and then they're at home versus the Tigers so these next six games the Cubs have to win at least five of them four of them will be okay taking both series would be all right but sweeping both of these teams would definitely definitely help uh fans and Cubs feel better about their chances of making uh the playoffs but it just does not look good for these guys just to be frank it just does not look good for them um it's a good thing that this the the the dog gone uh in national league is just in bad shape because otherwise the Cubs would have been out of the running but the national league has been beating up on each other all season and it's giving the Cubs a chance it's giving them a chance to uh you know to make the playoffs and that's all we can really hope for as fans we have hope going into this six game Homestead that they can at least do something but if they lose today and it's likely that they might because they trotting out old man Cal Kendricks uh Cal Hendricks to go out there try to secure a W for the Cubs and he just hasn't been good all season long I don't even know why they still have this guy uh going out to uh to to pitch but it is what it is with his 5.75 ra at the crib uh it's just not good it's not good for this guy 21 games so far on the season uh 16 game started and he's just been all over the place giving up 18 home runs walking 27 now he has looked better since he got back from injury I'll give him that but it hasn't uh translated to wins he's lost three of his last five games um two of them were good games uh you know one against St Louis once one against Cincinnati but against non- divisional opponents he 0 and three and he's given up um you know six runs to Kansas City in the start against them uh three runs against um Arizona in his start against them and two runs against Minnesota in his start against them now he hasn't really got much help offensively in any of those games the Cubs lost three nothing in Arizona 6 nothing to Kansas City and three nothing to Minnesota so maybe if the Cubs newly I guess rejuvenated offense that they've been dealing with over the last 30 or so games can show up today at home but man man man it's just I have no faith in Kyle Hendricks and I also don't have any faith in Craig Council because if it comes down to a close game which most Cubs games this season has come down to Craig Council has yet to press the right buttons he's yet to press the right buttons to get these guys on track especially in late games um and it's just bothersome it's just bothersome so far the Cubs have lost 25 or 26 one-run games and frankly if they if they were half as as halfway better if they if they've only lost 12 or 13 one run games we be talking about a different team uh we'll be talking about a team that's in first place in the Central Division and and definitely uh leading the way in the Wild Card Standings but unfortunately for the Chicago Cubs uh they just don't the manager has yet to show me who he was in Milwaukee he's yet to show me that he can lead a team the way he did in Milwaukee and maybe Milwaukee had better players uh for his style of coaching to kind of help out with that but as it stands right now Craig counil has done little to nothing to show me that he's ready to lead a major Market team at least Milwaukee's not a major Market uh you know they're they're a couple hundred miles to the north of Chicago uh but they don't have the type of fan base that Chicago does at least not uh on the surface you know baseball runs deep uh for teams it doesn't matter if you're in a big big city or not uh fans love their team so I'm not going to [ __ ] all over the the Milwaukee Brewers fan base but at the end of the day uh Craig Council came here to the Cubs with high expectations for a team that missed the playoffs by one game last season uh we we hope that he could push the right buttons the ones that David Ross didn't and unfortunately he hasn't he hasn't so do I trust him to lead this team to the playoffs nah no and I hear all this Craig to Craig Timber or Council Timber or whatever they call it as he as he you know has ramped up ratcheted up the Milwaukee prws over the last few seasons to make runs to the playoffs in September um I haven't seen him do it in any month here in Chicago besides April the CU did start off hot but May June July and August have left a lot to be desired and these guys have been playing sub 500 baseball pretty much all season even though uh they have turned it around a little bit and they you know they're a couple of games under 500 now sitting at 59 and 63 but listen man I don't know this blue jays team they haven't been playing as well as they thought they would either so maybe the Cubs are running into a team that's in a worse situation than them and they can you know get a few wins but it would be cool to see the Cubs sweep them move on to the Tigers and sweep them before they go on the road to play a Marlins team that's defin definitely beatable and then they come they go to Pittsburgh and they got to beat these guys like the Cubs really have to win 12 12 out of their next 15 games if they want to make the playoffs before they get to September like they really really have to these next 10 games they got to win seven eight of them it's just not looking good like y'all let me know in the comments how y'all feeling about these next couple of weeks for the Chicago Cubs because they showed us that they can win some games as they got to within one game of 500 before this week started it looked like they were kind of turning the corner uh but the Guardians swept them and they lost two games two of those games that they lost lost were um by one run they lost 9 to8 on Monday and then they lost two to one on Tuesday before they lost six to one on Wednesday so you know it's just I I I don't really have too much confidence in these guys not to be a Debbie Downer but I'm pretty sure pretty much everybody else uh in Cubs nation feel the same way uh for the most part A lot of people still have a little bit of hope uh these next six games in Wrigley Field the fans are going to be r it up man it going to be Rowdy uh the crowd is going to be ready to see some good baseball so but if it's coming down to one-run games man uh I just don't trust Council to be able to do it who's who's going to be the close and there goes to Jed hoer really like Jay hoer knew that the Cubs didn't really have a closer coming into the season I think he was kind of leaning on Alay to be that guy and Hector neres uh they they picked him up as well in the offseason they expected him to be that guy but they had opportunities to grab some studs in the offseason and they just didn't they just didn't and and it and it's hurt the Cubs in fact the start of the season the bullpen even though they've turned it around slightly um since June or so they've been playing a little bit better uh but to start the season man they they were so bad the Cubs lost a lot of games that they should have won and right now that's hurting the Cubs and that's on Jed Hoyer you gotta put the team in the best position to win and they didn't do that and now you're you're in a position where you have players who are going to be back Suzuki's going to be back Bellinger is going to be back Nico's going to be back you can't really change at those positions pca's turning around a little bit but what's going to happen with with him and Bellinger is Bellinger gonna be the DH next season coming into the season I don't think that he wants that because he you know he got his op out clause but I doubt he Ops out hopefully he does hopefully he just Ops out and tries to go to a different team uh sign a one-year deal with them and you know an improv it deal and get out of here but we wanted him back based on what he did last season but the up and down nature of his career rear his ugly head and and and it showed this season whether it be injuries or just not showing it at the plate Cody Belling just just didn't show up this season and uh it's just what it is man like I don't know I don't know man y'all let me know how y'all feel because the Cubs H they've been not as depressing as my white socks nobody been is so weeks ago they the most irritating team in the league that it's a it's a talented roster top to bottom but they just haven't been able to put it together um and stream together success like other teams in the division have even the the dog onone Cardinals they they don't even score many runs but they figured out a way to be better than the Cubs Cincinnati's in second place all of a sudden because they're playing some of their best base baseball right now uh and the Cubs this a't Cincinnati's on a a four game winning streak right now and the Cubs on a three game losing streak since the Cardinals on a four game losing streak it would been nice to see the Cubs Go you know continue to win you know after beating up on the white socks and um who did they play before the white socks uh taking two out of three versus the twins uh taking two out of three uh versus the Cardinals so you know it's just they play the Cardinals for times and it took three out of four so it's just I don't know man losing three straight to the guardian really hurt my feelings I'm just going to put it like that and I think the Cubs just got to prove it they gotta prove it man so these next six games win four or five of these games and we'll see because if you do that then you'll be above 500 let me see real quick because you know math a't yeah if you win five of these games um you'll be at 500 then if you go five and one uh so let's see what they can do they'll be at 64 and 64 if they go five- one and uh that'll put them right there I mean depending on what the Braves do who haven't really been playing that well lately their four and six in their last 10 games they could be right there with the Braves if the Braves lose a few more games they'll be right there with the Mets and the Giants depending on how they do a lot of these teams are just playing 500 baseball so if you find yourself playing four or five games above 500 over these next six games games you'll find yourself right there in the Wild Card hunt players do you want it council do you want it pitchers do you want it y'all say y'all do but y'all have to prove it on the field got to prove it on the field can we win some run one run games for crying out loud cuz gez it sucks to see like like I every time the CU find themselves like when they when they rally back against the uh the Guardians and and got it en tied at eight I didn't even have confidence that they would win that game even though they had all the momentum because it's like they just freeze up when it come to close games if it's a one-run game you can almost guarantee the Cubs are going to figure out a way to lose it it's just that simple so unless they playing against the white socks then they'll win all right y'all already know baseball season is long enough man we got enough time for the Cubs uh with about 40 games left in the season they they got enough time to uh now is it 40 games I think it's about 37 38 games so they got enough time to to to to make another push man they got enough time to make a push but can they yes will they I don't think so man I just don't don't see this team they haven't shown the mental fortitude to be able to do it so all right man we going to get up out of here we appreciate all the love and support as we push toward 1,000
