it's the National Football League on EA Sports where we'll see which conference Reigns Supreme tonight the action is only moments away on Monday night we are about 40 miles or so south of Candlestick point at a place of first open back in 2014 as you get a look at Levi Stadium here in Santa Clara California alongside Charles Davis I'm Brandon G and Charles kickoff moments away quickly what are you watching in this one the offensive line for both teams because both teams have a terrific pass rush they've got to keep their pass ight if they have a chance to do that they can both thrive on off and move the ball down field the kicker Jake Moody's got it teed up and we are underway now from Santa Clara and a decent return out to the 27 Y Line so here come the jets to take over LED at quarterback by a man back to full health in season number 20 now and a second one in New York and that's Aaron Rogers and after an Achilles injury robbed him of playing most of last season of we know it won't be easy but the Jets have great optimism not only for Aaron rers but for the plays the full season they believe they're truly a playoff [Applause] team First Carry for the Iowa State man Bree Hall and he'll take this up near the 35 maybe the 34 now we've got a stoage for an injured player and that appears to be Garrett Wilson who is shaken up on the play while they come out and take a look at him we will step aside for just a moment [Applause] from the 34 yd line here second down and three throwing now is Rogers and able to find Alan Lazard shy of mid they'll spot it at the 49 give him yard on that one and the Jets move the chains one of the ways that quarterbacks keep all the receivers alive in a play Never lock on you keep youring Feld and he the open for a on First and 10 it's Hall and they'll get him down after a pick up of Eight Second and two a nice run here early on it doesn't take a great play call to realize you want to establish a guy of his Cali run this early because they'll P dividends as the game progresses [Applause] y on play action Rogers that's going to be caugh down field by Lazard and all the way in TD New York Allen Lazard 43 yard and the Jets will claim the early as they're on the board first here tonight well they spoke about the importance of getting off to a good start and they're on their first drive Charles into the end zone for the touchdown and what an advantage for them they're already clicking one drive in didn't need to wait to get up to full speed we had heard about the extra time they put in with each other trying to learn each other's skills what they like the whole deal and it paid off early in this one I would expect them to keep firing on the next drive and keep that connection going zerline good with a p and it's now a seven nothing game a drive there of just four plays and it's finished off by a New York Jets touchdown Mor out the to kick oh a good looking return set up here and a good return able to get out across the 35 to the 36 the 49ers getting ready to go on offense and it's the pro bowler Brock per at the in his third NFL season now out of Iowa State and the great story of Brock P continues had he been drafted in the first round I think people be singing his praises to the skies but for whatever reason people can't let go of the fact he Mr Irrelevant and they don't give him the credit he deserves he is not just a system quarterback he's a guy who enhances his team not just along for the ride he's the one steering the ship and without him their ceiling significantly drops looking to throw the First Catch of the game for George K he'll take this to the other of Midfield going out of bounds 16 y right off theat and a first down defense gives up a touchdown the opening drive offense you got to want to get out there and get those points back right now and that's a sharp throw there to get this drive off to a good start pie same Target same result it's k and they'll up get this one all the way down the yard and another first often times now offenses aren't nearly as precise As Days Gone By they just receivers find an open patch of grass and let the quarterback find you and that's one side a quick answer though to get the equalizer sometimes you get that sense of urg that ratchets up right when you give up an early touchdown like that you just know you're like okay how do we go back and equalize things can we get it done fast and they absolutely did essentially we're back to even aren't we Jake Moody now for the point after it's up and good so these teams match touchdowns here in the first quarter and we're tied seven s the drive there only spanning three plays and it's polished off by a touchdown for San Francisco each team's had it each team scored seven seven here as the kicks away oh dangerous Return Man showing it here and the good kick pays off as he's only able to get this out past the 10 yd line back onto the field come the New York Jets for their second drive this drive here beginning probably with a pair motivated groups remember the offense scored a touchdown on their last time out looking to repeat that in Charles's defense they were very frustrated after giving up six the last time on the field and frankly it's just a battle of wills in a lot of ways because you know they're both motivated they both game plan for this dve and they to me it justes who can and and the 25 and he's going to get it down to the 14 yd line that time for the Jets 47 yard they made that way e for them no one is supposed to be that open against an NFL defense once he caugh the there wasn't anybody close enough to him and he was able to continue down f after making the catch here's a first and 10 at the 14 yd line a running right as Hall and the Nimble footwork gets him just inside the n but no further give him five on the carry there and it'll be second down a quick burst there and he nicely bit off a pretty decent [Applause] gain the and to throw it's Rogers quick throw there is incomplete man that time end up put a little too much heat on it don't you think partner absolutely just needed a touch more Ste he fired an absolute [Applause] bullet in of a conversion on third they the big play to start the drive not much here's Rogers to throw and this will be caught in the end Z touchdown Jets two touchdown passes now here in this first quarter for Aaron Rogers and the Jets have taken the lead still first quarter two receiving touchdowns for him how are they going to slow him down I think they're thinking about altering their game plan whatever they came in with now maybe you switch a better cover guy to him or you make sure you have more people in his general area wherever he lines up to at least try and discourage them from throwing the ball to him zerine now for the [Music] pat it's up and good and it's 147 now here in the first quarter so that drive four plays and it ends with a jet touchdown out to kick and they will down a couple yard shy of the back out there comes the 49ers offense ready for their second drive and they'll just simply be looking to build off the confidence of the last time out where they scored a touchdown and confidence is powerful isn't it when you've scored once you feel like you can go back out there and get done again doesn't matter what the defense throws at them they feel like they're in a groove right now and they want to get out there and show it yeah hoping to stay in that Groove here this go around peral set up to throw it here that's complete it's Brandon a and pass the 40 before he's out of bounds right off the bat it's a first down to start the drive 12 yards I tell you what when you're down on the scoreboard you've got to look to your stars and that's what they do here to start the drive I wouldn't be surprised if they looked his way a few more times in that one well designed and it's a quick first down now pie he'll get this underneath to maccaffrey and he'll be taken down but not before he works it past the 50 a gain of 10 and a 49er first down but I think when they look at their offense they think to themselves weapons weapons everywhere and they want to move the ball around they want to spread it to different people but you absolutely know they want to get this man involved as well and that's what they just did on that play back to throw P another grab here for the dynamic Chris mcaffrey and he is tackled the0 not quite to the 35 1 yard as they've got the connection working as second catch in a row first down here's P that's complete out left a and he is out of bounds inside the 30 that's good the completion there for seven yard and that'll bring up second down so a decent there but not their fourth consecutive first down like they had on the first three plays you sound almost disappointed there you want to fire the offensive coordinator on that one or what they had gotten into a rhythm I thought they were just going to keep going well almost a win for the defense but if that's your win you're not doing very well right now he's got a once again backto back receptions for and it's another first down and certainly establish himself as a bona numberer in the NF he produced a first on over 80% of his receptions and so he's picked right up where he off as he earns a set ofs and keep an eye on him he can also find the end zone as well now to throw that one complete to Hiser Jennings it'll go as aain of and it'll be second down [Applause] here's the pro bowler Christian mcaffrey he's San Francisco 18 y for Christian mcaffrey and the ners are extra point away from evening this one up a solid blocking up front from the guys on the offensive line allowed him to get in for the touchdown yeah some might say that the guys on the offensive line were in concert I used to have a coach who called it Maring up meaning when you get on a guy you just stay right there and each guy has his own assignment that allowed the runner to make the big move towards the end zone Moody good with the extra point and we are tied at 14 so this drive spans seven plays and the last play on the drive the touchdown run from Christian mcaffrey this one tied 14 now as he sends this one away and out a little across the 25 to the 27 so out now come the Jets and the points they have come fast and furious in this quarter you really don't want to be on the defensive side of the ball right now do you because you're either thinking my replacement may get an opportunity your head better be on a swivel totally or maybe I just to the game for a while because I just can't slow these guys down they've got to figure out a way to disrupt these offes and typically one guy makes a big play and that can help change things they'll be looking for disruption on both sides right now pass complete he's got Lazard on the out and the0 he's out of BS that's a good way to start the drive 17 yard and a first down talk about a big first half already has the two touchdowns adding to his receiving total there and picking up the first down he's coming off the line so fast I think he's intimidating the defensive backs with his explosiveness and he's Ching away their confidence out of the gun they it with Hall and this not going anywhere they get him at the 4 for a gain just a yard no doubt really byet that means your defensive end your outside linebackers the guys that you pay big money to to sack the quarterback have interest in the running game as well and they did a nice job there of holding the point of attack and not giving ground got a it's the rookie out of the third round and this will move the chains again as the tackle's going to be made at the 49ers 27 yd line the catch and run pays off for 29 y kind of a dangerous throw there he's off balance when he gets rid of it but this is all about a quarterback knowing what he can get away with and that time turns into and a healthy gain as wellory this is first and 10 at the 27 now it's Rogers this is caught by Willams so the for and that willing up [Applause] they'll give to Hall shs at the 15 and they'll it inside the 15 y it's all and it'll go as aain of 11 and a jet first well they're making an effort to get the ground game going tonight so far it's working I like what we're seeing from the offensive line they seem to have the leverage going and reestablishing the line ofage moving that defens backwards also like what the runn US appears that he's been waiting to get out here and and the Jets are going to be set up with a first andal he couldn't quite reach the chalk but they'll have it at the one yd line they they setone they canun theball I believe they've in the first quarter Rogers going to throw got a it's caugh jet Alan Lazard doing it again with his third in the openings are lead so what a start it's not often you even get three possessions in a first quarter but he now passes [Applause] now zerine on add the extra point it's up and good and that'll make the score 214 so the drive winds up going 75 yds in seven plays and it's finished off by New York Jets touchdown morstead out now following the touchdown to KCK makes it across the 20 as his guys will set up at the 23 yd Line San Francisco set to go on off and they'll be looking to build off of a nice drive last time a drive that really relied on the quarterback making good decisions Distributing the ball well Distributing it accurately keeping it away from danger a really nicely Run Drive but now the defense what adjustments do they need to make in the passing game pass rush pass rush pass rush whether the guys up front or maybe you bring additional guys but you've got to disrupt the timing of them throwing the football we'll see if they can disrupt it here and they wor this well up field across the 45 42 y rushing for now his first two carries of the ball game and a substantial there by theing offensive of the year coming off the over y fromage for the in his he truly can do it all throwing here pie that's sh caugh left side they'll give him four yard and it's second operating from the gun H over the middle complete it's Jennings and that's going to be another first down as the tackle made at the Jets 35 and we're going to stop play here at least momentarily it looks like there is a 49er who's in some discomfort hopefully obviously nothing serious here medical staff though going to take a peak and we'll take a break back to throw now on first down that's to the right side complet to K and inside the before he's 15 and on a roll it's another first [Applause] another now first and 10 so here's a first and 10 down the 20 back to throw again and he can't get rid of it he's taken down Solomon Thomas they love to see that from as he slips in for the sack so this has been a lot like a tennis match hasn't it back and forth both of these offenses having their way so far so maybe the question isn't who's going to score the most points in this game maybe it's who's going to get some stops yeah absolutely and that sack finally a first step in the right direction for a stop now following the sack they'll look to make ends on a second down and 17 back to throw pie oh the pressure too great and he goes down gerain Johnson in there to drop him and sacks on first and second Downs now leads to a third and long yeah some real defensive resistance there saying not so fast to a good drive they had marched to the end zone the last time out seventh play of this drive coming up but a long way to go on third down now a draw play to mcaffrey and he's going to be taken down right at the line no gain there on the play and that's going to leave him with a fourth down nice job there defensively to clamp down because really they've been on their heels Drive agreed and they really needed that one for confidence just to feel a little bit better but I don't know if I would be daunted by them stopping me on one run this drive has gone pretty well I could come right back at him and his kick is good and that'll bring him back within four so they're able to end that drive with three points in this one possession ball game and ideally you want to drive with points most quarterbacks tell let's end it with a kick right A P that's number one field you'll puns you really don't want to do that in this they'll take the field and get prepared for the rest of the game here's Moody back out to S it escapes the defender and the tackle going to be made right there at the 25 yd line the Jets off and Aaron Rogers getting set for their next drive and he's off to a fast start throwing the football pretty good numbers already for just the first quarter of play [Applause] the New York offense Tak over for their next possession right now everything they tou turns to go this is their fourth possession touchdowns on their first three possessions I mean this defense they can't seem to stop them it's like they're on skates great analogy Brandon because they are pushing them back and winning everything at the line of scrimmage they've just been laying down tracks towards the opposite end zone so to themselves all they're saying is if we don't make a mistake there's no way they can stop us [Applause] here's [Applause] Rogers and down he goes at the 45 after a pick up of N I do think it's fair to say they were caught off guard a little bit when decided not to throw it on first down but give them credit they recovered in time to deny the first down but it's only second and so that is still likely to lead to a new set of [Applause] straight ahead is Hall he'll get it into enemy territory just across Midfield at the 49 a gain of five good enough for the first down D has been through the I mean they've R the Bell three times with passing TDS but guess what ground game has not neglected nice little burst right there so from inside ner territory now this is first and 10 at the 49 yd line [Applause] again he'll but not y rushing now as he has gotten the off to a hot start one thing's for sure this defense has to figure out how to stop the ground game he's eating them up here in the first quarter it looks like they have to go to different forces aren't they the conventional things aren't working too well so I remember a coach of mine saying way back when when a back's having a great game you've got to get the ball out of his hands see how far he can run without the ball and what he me was takeways knock it Loose because maybe you can't just stop him with just regular tackling and that's good for a pick up of 10 yard and that'll leave him with a second and just a few inches left well coach always talk about finding balance on offense I don't think you get much more balance than this big run big pass one two combination looked pretty good how about that let's see if let's see if they can continue to take that kind of a punch though to throw is Rogers that one taken in by Corley that good for six as they keep this drive right on rolling this drive it's been a good mix three passing plays three runs hitting on all three of those passes and the last one putting him in the red zone so wouldn't you think play action right here because you've got the ability and had the ability to run it and throw it go play action and take your shot at the end zone now Rogers he'll get this to Lazard and he was able to shed one tackle but could not get away from there so give him two yard on the and it'll [Applause] be from the gun it's Rogers a quick throw here that's complete he's in touchdown Jets Tyler conin an 11 yd touchdown and the Jets are able to stretch out their lead so the numbers are starting to pile up here early on we have yet to reach halftime yet that is already now four touchdown passes line now for the p and that one pushes the lead up to 11 so that drive takes him down the field in eight plays and it ends with a jet touchdown morstead out now following the touchdown to kick and a good return as he'll be stopped just shy of the 30 yd line and San Francisco gets set to go here and last time able to get three it's not what they wanted they wanted six but they got at least something they mustered something out of the drive they'll take it just I like the way you've described it not ideal but they'll take it anything to put some points on the board but this time on offense they don't even want to see the field go kicker Trot on the field they want that ball in the end zone yeah they'll be going for six they start on the ground with maccaffrey and he sneaks his way forward only for a couple here second down they love to just strike back with a touchdown right here and if it's a long play so be it but the main goal get a couple of first downs run some plays run some clock allow their defense to get a chance to catch their breath settle down and relax a little bit after they just gave up a score pie he's going to drop this down to mafre and he slips up past the 45 before being tackled the catch and there for 16 and a first we are in for a good one as we're through one on EA Sports the 49ers with the football here to begin the second quarter as they've got it with a first and 10 from the shotgun now here's an inside G and he'll be brought down right on the aain on the 50 yd line here's second down at seven a hand off maccaffrey running right trying to bounce it outside but he's only able to get it back to the line of scrimmage no gain on the play and it's going to bring up a third down I know that speed is the Hallmark of today's NFL game but the key to good rushing defense is still having your linebackers set the edge now third down and seven from the Midfield strike they'll look to throw connects with K underneath and a pretty nice tackle there ranging up from his free safety spot as he'll stop him about a yard short so the completion good for seven there and that'll bring up fourth down I thought maybe when he caught he'd have a good chance of getting that first down but that's a nice job of holding him up and preventing him from getting to the sticks on fourth down the ners Trot out Mitch wishnowski to punt the football out of bounds as he appeared to be looking for the corner he got it they're going to mark this at the four yd line the Jets offense and their quarterback headed out for this next possession and he's done everything you could have asked for coming in he's spread it around he hasn't taken many chances and he's potentially on his way to a big game throwing the football Jets offense coming up now to start their next drive and they will start this drive with just terrible field position backed up inside their own five but we have seen teams be B here and shots right sometimes you go Max protection make it a one receiver route and take your shot down field and see what happens and occasionally we've seen success occur here's second and seven [Applause] here's Hall again and this will be a gain of right around three from the seven out to the 10 yd line just not a whole lot of room to operate there on that carry no not at all they did a really nice job staying in their proper places and not allowing any lanes to open up this now a third and four Paul on to give up the middle and I don't think he got there no she's short by maybe a foot on fourth down here's the veteran Thomas morstead to punt for the Jets and now a fair catch called for and taken just outside the 40 yd line the ners offense and Christian mcaffrey ready to go once more and he has been a big component of the passing game so far you see the numbers for this first half this defense is going to need to find some way to key in on him because is eating him up right now the 49er offense set to get this drive underway over on the sideline hoping to hit that reset button between possessions last time out they had to punt it away this time hoping to finish this thing off of The End Zone this one caugh by K he's going to get this down to the 35 yd line 23 the final tally they've looked his way quite a bit and in my estimation as well they should that's now five catches in this first half alone and he picks up another first down he's been an important part of their off
