it's going to be on the spot it's kind of like all right you're making a rush decision here slow down Sean but uh guys this is my favorite John melan Camp song right now Authority Song dude I don't know who was singing better John or that guitar man that guitar I loved it man I didn't know if that would fall more in the rock and roll or the Boogie rock kind of guitar but either way that thing was nice snapping just I mean dude I don't know I can't recreate that genius okay but uh the guitar was amazing some great great you can't help but just feel the groove and immediately be like all right I'm I'm going to sway my shoulders a little bit move the hips a little bit let me get into this and then the the song what it's about Authority song uh like I said a lot of us have been there right we've been those Young Rascals out in the street causing Ruckus causing some trouble and um getting in trouble right and just saying like uh people are saying hey you need to grow up man you need to stop this little rambunctiousness that you're you're having out there he's saying well I don't want to grow up that don't seem like a lot of fun you know I've seen what growing people are like they're they're angry they're they're hating on me and uh we're going to die one day that don't sound too fun to me so it's that really young mentality man you know that a lot of us live throughout our teenage years and even our 20s um that we feel right so I get that with John melan Camp right here Authority song I loved everything about it man the video was fun to watch too pretty nice right here so yeah I'm going to have to say this is probably my favorite from him uh but it it was a great contribution in in order with the lyrics and his uh vocals the music the music was just insane it was intense and you feel it from the get-go man and that guitar is constantly moving on you then you get that breakdown section those drums amazing the hand claps going right along with it him singing just over it um I loved it man there wasn't a thing that I didn't like about this one so shout out John Mel Camp Authority Song shout out to you guys for putting me onto this one suggesting this one appreciate it all right so we got some interesting little facts right here about John melan Camp on the after that melan camp never allowed his music to be used in commercials until he made a deal with Chevrolet in 2006 for a song Our Country his manager Tony deze uh gave him the name Johnny cougar he started using John Cougar melon camp in the 80s and eventually dropped the cougar the freeze is the same guy who persuaded David Jones to change his name to David Bowie say as a teenager melan Camp was rebellious often getting in trouble with the law he formed his band his first band at the age of 14 and continued to play throughout his teens when he was 18 He eloped to Priscilla esterling his pregnant girlfriend and tried to support his family by working a series of bluecolor jobs by the time he was 24 he decided to move to New York City and tried to break into the music industry esene uh was 24 when they wed she was the grownup in the relationship with a job a car a college degree she did most of the work raising their daughter Michelle I wasn't much of a parent back then melan Camp said so songw writing is something he learned over time I didn't want to write songs he said uh in his plain spoken DVD what do we need another songwriter for I showed zero interest or potential in being a songwriter when I first started making records it says right here melan Camp was once offered a big movie role but he turned it down because he had to take his top off all right the film was Thelma and Louise and the role ended up launching the career of a relatively unknown actor named Brad Pit check that out man John melan Camp maybe would have had every R Brad Pit had had he been in Thelma and Louise all right so Brad Pit uh can thank John melan Camp for opening up the breakout role that he got right here in delman louiz all right unfortunately there's no background information that I can pull up directly for Authority Song on here but we'll read what we can it's off of the album or is this uh-huh it says uh-huh studio album yeah so maybe off the album uh-huh and uh with this one you've got rock and Heartland rock on it so yeah Heartland Rock I keep forgetting to attribute that to definitely some of the sounds we hear there um but definitely it's got a good dose man this song was amazing uh so I really liked Authority Song down here it says cashbox reviewed the single release of authority song writing opening with a twanging country riff The Rocker jumps off the vinyl with the authority that cougar melon Camp is singing against I fight authority and authority always wins cashbox especially prais the pounding Rhythm Section and percussion work it was amazing dude so you've got that as track three off of this album uh and pink houses was on this album as well which we have done with uh the 10th track is pink houses but an acoustic version I love when they do stuff like that I think that's amazing so that's what we got right here man hopefully
