11-time Allstar the sun is in his third season in the MLB and currently with the Philadelphia Phillies he's also a friend of the show please welcome Roger and coach Clemens thanks for coming on guys absolutely thank you for having us and I know you're both in different areas right now so we're doing a zoom meeting so uh Roger where are you at right now I'm in Boston Massachusetts my old stomping ground where I work for 13 seasons and uh you know obviously still love the town a lot of fans enjoy going to finway park actually do a Char charitable thing with the Jimmy fund their longtime partnership with the Red Sox and and I throw a little BP at fway so it's a it's a good time awesome and Cody where are you at right now I'm in Philly right now uh just rehabing getting getting back off the aisle here hopefully pretty soon awesome well I heard uh there was some weather today in Boston for you Roger and uh you're on the golf course right now so I'm curious how's the swing looking right now the swing is a little bit better actually my two younger boys uh love the game they they've learned learned it when they were young and my number three son Casey he's really trying to get serious in the game of golf and he helped my path I had a little outside takeaway path I'm trying to take it inside now and uh uh I've got to get it going because really this uh I'm I'm in town with my buddy for his member guest and I go from here to Joe Carter's event in Toronto and then we have a really nice H fun event in Maine for the barber Bush foundation and golf for kids f o re e for kids and um so I'm looking forward to that and then uh the summer will pick up our our granddaddy of malls the American Century in Lake Tahoe so uh hopefully I won't have to yell for it too many times it'll it'll be going straight yeah yeah I'll actually be at that tournament too so I'm excited to see that and Cody we talked a little golf last time and I know there's four of you total brothers so it made me wonder in the family who's the biggest trash talker of the bunch and who can actually back it up uh I would say I'm probably the biggest trash talker um I don't know if I can back it up on some dayss on the golf course I can um my two oldest Brothers they're decent you know they'll probably shoot 90 area I would say um and then Casey like my dad said has been really working on his golf game and he's actually gotten his handicap down to a scratch so he's uh pretty solid right now I think he's he plays at least six rounds a week it seems like so um he's out there all the time but for me my golf swing I uh I've had some really good rounds I stick to like the low 80s so it's been good he's being modest he's pretty good and uh they like I said Ryan they they um they I'm glad all four boys play they love the game of golf I tell people I've met more business opportunities through the game of golf than I ever have playing you know 24 years into Majors but uh yes I agree Cody's probably the biggest uh trash talker of the boys and uh he has a buddy that's in professional baseball we've known forever and uh Casey my number three kid also has another uh a friend that when they match up you pretty much need a rules official for these guys the way they go at each other so there's going to be at least one to two to three rulings they're going to need um we'll put it this way I'm GNA get him a PGA pocket Rules book They're gonna start carrying around with it well when you guys are on the course it made me wonder do you uh BL blast some music or what kind of music are you guys into when you're on the course yeah I'm listen I I get the speaker on and and it's a mixture between country um you know hip-hop sometimes we play the old school rap stuff um it all just depends on the mood and where we're at honestly if we're in you know a beachy type area we're playing Kenny Chesney or like some you know Beach Vibes out on the course so it's fun keep it light and um it like he said my dad he said um it doesn't get too serious until someone has a hiccup or something and we got some money on the line and Roger what kind of music are you into yeah probably same country I like country uh a little bit of the uh the good hip hop you know if it's got a good beat to it or or it's actually telling a real story without too many uh F bombs in it so but uh yeah I I love music obviously like I I was I was telling the guys I I came up here to Boston I did a Netflix series and I did a special for the Yankees and we got into what's going on and uh they got into my nickname the rocket I have twin uh grandboys now they're seven years old there my oldest son has the twin grandboys and I'm poppy rocket to them but at night uh a lot of people know it's been catching on a lot of people at night know I DJ and my DJ name is DJ no request so uh most of the parties though if uh Cody comes up to me when like when when he was getting married and his new bride was telling me what to play I turn into DJ Su requests well since you're both into music uh my follow-up question and we'll start with you Cody who was your guys's first concert that you ever attended dang I'm trying to think I feel like I mean it's got to be probably one of Toby dad I don't remember how young we were um uh like growing up in high school I would say um we went to the road Houston all the time so we got to see some good bands um in high school including Toby and um like I remember seeing Zack Brown Band Kenny Chesney he's coming up again I'm trying to figure out I think it's got to be one of toes when unless unless dad you know one that you took me when I was super young I have no idea no you went to Toby first uh and then uh I I I think it's Toby's first before I think I took you guys to an aosi my first one was Aeros Smith obviously we know those dudes uh well from our Boston days but when they came to Houston I know we took you guys I just don't know I think you guys I think you were in high school maybe I don't know if you're young yeah I think it might have been that one I know Mom has talked about that concert yeah getting a little crazy for sure but yeah uh I'm just telling you it doesn't get any better like I said Cody got married uh in Cabo and I would say it's a pretty good wedding when you have Toby Keith uh singing with you karaoke with you in your house in Cabo on a golf course right on the ocean that's that's a that's a pretty good memory that is a great memory that was great and rip to Toby Keith I know you guys are close and not only I know your great friends a fellow golfer right I know he was at the Pebble Beach tournament a lot through the years yeah Toby Love Toby loved the game of golf and Toby was the same dude from when he was you know first broke out with Should Have Been a Cowboy and he's playing in bars with 20 people in him and he was the same cap when he was a meast star so we miss him dearly and and but like I tell everybody he left us with some wonderful wonderful singing drinking songs that's for sure yeah and since you have been golfing uh the longest uh Roger it made me wonder do you have any hole in ones through the years or I do I've a six hole in one I have three in three of them in competition so I've been pretty fortunate on that end yeah because I had Buster posie on recently and I said what's harder a hole in one or a perfect game and he said well I would say a perfect game but I have one of those no hole in one yet so I thought that that's funny and Cody I thought it was interesting you probably grew up obviously uh being around your dad at the Ballpark seeing him and like seeing him golfing Tahoe and whatnot and now he gets to watch you so it's got to be pretty cool to have Roger around yeah for sure I mean it's kind of Gone full circle um I tell everyone that I'm very happy that I'm not a pitcher so I don't have to live up to what he did so it's kind of a different type of career for me um but no it's awesome obviously having him uh in my back pocket whenever I need him and obviously when he comes around to the games uh every so often um it's amazing and uh Roger I had a question for you I was able to interview Nick castalanos last year as well and I saw some footage of you uh with his son Liam and I think you might have pitched to him so does that kind of bring Memories Back for you and you had your sons probably bring him to the ballpark back in your career yeah absolutely I'm pretty fortunate you know we got some pitchers hanging around the house that it's really cool because you make an All-Star Game and all the boys are going to be there so I get them all a jersey and they wanted to get in the Outfield and shag and and shag fly balls during the Home Run competition so yeah I mean I've always told Cody even at the level he's at now uh I try and play the dad role until they ask me a pointed question um and then I then I I'll get more involved in more detailed in answers but um you know again they're they were all hitters very good hitters and I tell my boys even the ones that did make it to the majors it's um it's a extremely hard feat to do what they're doing even you know in the in the family to be able to to play professional baseball and play it at a high level what Cody's doing right now you know starting here and there and coming off the bench and crucial spots pinch hitting it's probably the hardest thing to do in in uh all of sports is to hang around eight Innings on the bench and then the gains in the most crucial part of the part and you got to be ready you got to stay in tune with what's going on in the game and be ready to you know to pinch it and come through so Cody's done that well I've always said that um you know I've always talked to Cody about his baseball IQ being off the chart is you know his his I baseball IQ is as in depth as any manager that he's playing for uh he's been like I said I've been dragging around the ballpark since he was five and uh and you know he loves it paying attention to it trying to get better each day um so um again I'm I'm super proud of all my boys uh you know not just because they're playing professionally I think I'm more as proud as how hard they worked at the University of Texas towards their degree and everything that they had to to to try and overcome a lot of people say oh the expectations it's I think they're just so used to it I mean they're used to hearing their last name tied with you know with with their Dads or whatever uh but they they handle it great uh I thought it was really cool that I played long enough that my boys could ask you or make a comment hey Pops you know you played in two of the most historic stadiums where Babe Ruth and sa Young was and you stood right where Luke Gary gave his farewell speech and so uh the history behind it is pretty cool to when your boys you know when your boys come around and talk about it yeah great stuff there and makes me wonder too Cody like you said you're recently married so not to put you on the spot too much but uh when you think about your dad and what he's taught you growing up has that impacted you on maybe what type of Father you want to be one day with Father's Day coming up in a few days yeah absolutely I mean I'm very fortunate to have the parents that I have um obviously growing up we had the best childhood and you know the way they raised me and my brothers um they were amazing including my mother and obviously with my dad growing when I was growing up my dad was obviously playing and so my Mom and Grandma we call our Nana was always around to kind of raise us all but at the same time we were popping in and out to see my dad pitch and go up to New York like we spent a summer in New York in a high-rise apartment I remember that that was a super fun time um but the way that he's raised me is it made me the man I am right now and the man that I'm going to become or whatever you know so um it's been awesome to have him as my dad and like you said you know there is a Target on my back but it's it it started when I was very young so we are used to it my brothers are used to it and um yeah just very blessed and fortunate to have a dad like him and Roger I was going to say that uh I know you had a long career obviously so it's got to be great now to where you can watch Cody and play and and be around and see some of these games in person right absolutely I mean you the fans will come up to me because I I like there's sometimes when I'm in a a player's box or a Legends box upstairs I I like to be in the crowd when I can at Philly I got a cool little spot that I can sit be out with the fans and and they love Cody being there and you know they obviously will come up to me and visit with me here or there but you know they always like are you nervous or whatever I said no because they hit they play position they got it down you know so I I I mean they've practice so hard and work so hard behind the scenes to be prepared like you said uh not being prepared will find your weakness right so the boys are prepared so I I can kind of kick back now in high school when Cody got in there and relieved a few games and Casey pitch at Texas I was a little antsy because you know I knew I know how difficult that is to be on the mountain doing that too so but uh hey I don't have to worry about it Cody's got two career punch outs one of them is Otani and with that strikeout everybody thinks my seven s Youngs are one of the most unbreakable Feats that what Cody did by striking out Otani No One's Gonna break that record Cody and I are the the fatherson uh leading strikeout leaders in Major League Baseball history we with that one strikeout we jumped um my pitching coach actually in New York Mel stmy and his son uh Todd St so Cody uh Cody bounc this up into the lead and then I think he got another punch out in La didn't you kid you punched somebody out in La too so you got two yeah I got two but I haven't pitched in a year so that's good that's a good thing that is a good thing when you're pitching it's not good we and we don't like it and his oldest brother Kobe he really doesn't like team pitching so because when he does he knows it's uh either a blowout one way or the other usually usually on the on the bad side yeah now Cody since you're obviously hitter when you are pitching like that and you strike out Otani are you able to keep the ball or do you keep any momentos so far yeah I kept it and I sent it over to him and he was cool enough and you know laughed at the moment and he signed the baseball and wrote like something on there like what a nasty pitch that was or something like that but yeah I have it still inside my house and Tomball um and then but the other one I don't I don't have the ball I don't know what happened to that one that's pretty cool well Roger speaking of uh your your career speaks for itself but when you see your son's successes on the field does that make you happier than anything you've done or how does that kind of go when you're the dad watching now absolutely he's he's playing for a uh a team right now that's super competitive they've had a taste of the playoffs deep in the playoffs World Series appearances and they're going for it right now so for him to be on that team and those guys to Rally around Cody when he's there to help him uh it's it's pretty cool to watch but like I said I I know um he's not going to be successful every time we just talk about having great at bats uh don't give away in a bat and he and you know 95% of Cody's the bats he makes it very difficult on the pitcher and um you know as a pitcher I know how that is I ran into some guys that were very difficult to strike out and to get out and they caused me problems U mainly by adding up my pitch count but uh yeah anytime you know I like being around watching Code but I also like stepping back and watching from home uh and letting him do his thing and uh you know it's cool his wife travels now too to see him so that's what my wife did and like code said earlier uh even though it's Father's Day the even on Mother's Day and Father's Day um my wife she freaking handled the load so I could go out and perform make good living for my family and she help rais those boys and I'm I'm sure they drove her crazy a little bit but uh you know she she gets it done and she gets it she understands the lifestyle that we have and uh how we travel and the things we do and it's part of it you either like it or you don't and it'll wear some guys out if they don't get adjust to it very quickly well Roger you spoke on uh facing some good hitters there so my question when you think back were there any good hitting pitchers that kind of drove you nuts good hitting pitchers yeah that you had to face every well not I me I was in the na what a blessing was to go to the National League got to come home play for the Astros there in the National League at that time and uh I mean all I can tell you is when I was in the American League and you got somebody like Sorano that's in our leadoff spot that hits 30 homers and drives in 100 uh I I won't name them because and you you would know know them because I don't want to embarrass them anymore but they came over these guys from the national league came over to pitch in the American League and after three starts they were calling their agents get me out of here because the national league you can throw that little 92 93 down the middle with some movement and let that little punch in Judy hopefully hit a ground bought a short or second and get out of there you're not going to do that in the American League when you have nine hitters there's not a there's not another punching Judy in the eighth hole right before you have a pitcher trying to bunt or have never been up there like myself now having said that uh I'll just tell you one fact that I think I heard it to be true and and I was asking the Yankees Personnel to find out but there's a trivia question floating around is who is the oldest New York Yankee ever to record a base hit and it was a dagio b l garri c Mickey Manel D Yogi Babe Ruth or E none of the above and the answer is e none of the above Rockets Rocket Man I think I was 45 I hit a double I don't I think it might have been in h Colorado so once I got the second base and I was fired up I was looking for some oxygen because it was that air is thin there that's awesome well Cody I imagine you growing up hitting against your dad so can he still strike you out now do you guys ever get in the backyard with a bat and a ball see what happens yeah I mean from I wouldn't say now I wouldn't say now if you're pitching from 60 feet I mean well I mean think about it Ryan I threw 50 miles an hour and struck out Otani so you could probably say that my dad could probably still strike me out depending on what pitch he throws I would say it because I personally hate hitting opposition players and I honestly don't even know if I have a hit off a position player and that should just prove to you that hitting is way harder than pitching so I would say I would say you could still punch me yeah well what IID do I I would throw fast balls but they would not be strikes and then Mr splitty would show you're GNA throw split after split seven straight split fingers but at the same time you're you're throwing it 70 miles an hour so I got I got some reaction time there but I'll give it to you I'll give you its Father's Day oh okay you're sh me a bone now I saw I saw a clip of Nolan Ryan a couple days ago I think he was in his mid-60s and he threw out the first pitch of a game and they said it was like mid 80s so Roger I am curious uh what are you hitting on the radar again because I know you you played for the Savannah bananas recently right yeah I saw your shirt I was going to bring that up I had to ice for three straight days from doing that I was only supposed to throw out a first pitch and then Jesse the owner just said that'd be great but can you pitch in the game and I didn't want my I like my elbow and shoulder to stay intact uh so I can do this golfing tour stuff so I was pretty lucky I've been pretty lucky over my career thank God for the ice tanks that we have at home and we get in those ice tanks so they're a blessing but uh no I I I think uh in that game I I was at uh I got over 80 a couple times that was about it but I was still pitching pretty good at 5152 when I made my starts for the Sugarland skers and uh and that was kind of at the end of my rope right there well Cody growing up around a pitcher um does that help you anticipate pitch strategies since you're a hitter Through The Years or yeah I mean he I mean growing up he would always tell us little cues and things and how pitchers should approach hitters and how they do it and how they don't do it and whatever but I would say like just through experiencing at bats from all the way from high school to college to professional baseball just getting the repetition of at bats like you learn a ton about sequences and stuff like that depending on you know the scenario of the game or the situation you're in at the plate um but yeah he definitely helped me uh learn quickly you know say in high school or you know getting into college uh on Pitch pitcher sequences because I would say in high school and and to college really you pitchers don't have three four five pitches is you know you start to see that when you get into professional baseball more more so so early on he was like hey these pitches are going to be throwing fast balls you know obviously in high school just trying to get it over the plate so just be ready to hit well I had on Bo bashet a few days ago and he was a lot of fun to talk to and it made me wonder uh Cody who's the best son of an athlete that you've played with or against and maybe it might be someone that uh I haven't heard of or whatnot son of an athlete well I did uh uh let's see here I got to play with Daz Cameron um Mike Cameron's son he was in the Tigers org I played against Cavin bigio and I've played against Bo um and those guys and vlat I mean I gotta say vlat is probably one of the best I've played against you know he's obviously a really good power hitter just like his dad was and I'm just trying to think if there's any other ones that Cruz junor Junior with the Cruz family yeah I play with Trey Cruz came came up yeah he came up through the Tigers org a little bit um I think he's still playing in the organization I mean I just I would say vlat you know vat's got to be the best son of a player that I've played that's a pretty good one yeah yeah well Roger um I'm curious when you think of your callup moment or your MLB debut uh what kind of sticks with you more I I just remember my spring training going into my rookie season I did really really well and I outpitched everybody on the staff and which which my son found out in a couple spring trains because he's gone crazy in spring training and it really didn't matter ended up being a numbers game and my managers were all and the GM and everybody are in the spring training you know manager office called me in and I was ready for it because it was April Fool's Day so I was ready for the joke already and uh you know I'm sitting there and they tell me well you did great and there's nothing they could say because I I was like five in one in spring training and I only you know let in two runs I think and so I was ready to go north with the Red Sox had my stuff packed and I I was waiting for this joke to happen and they said you know we're going to you were great all spring but we're got to send you to Triple A Pucket to the Pucket Red Sox and then four or five seconds of Silence which is a long time for having silence nothing was said and I'm I was waiting for the punch line you know April fools haha you made the team well it never came so I ended up going to Triple A and I think I pitched two games in Triple A and I won one game and I got a no decision but I you know I didn't light it up like it was crazy and after my second game the my tripa maner said you're going to the big leagues and that's when I found out about the business part of the game that they were buying a month so they buy a whole another year before I could get the free agent at the time so uh that's kind of what I remember my call up I my first call up I was at the mistake by the lake old Cleveland stadium and it was nasty cold and I think it went five innings or so and and uh gave up three or four runs and got a no decision and Cody how about you like uh when you had your debut moment or call up I imagine you spoke to your dad so do you reflect on that with Father's Day coming up yeah um so I was in Triple A in Toledo in 2012 2022 and we were going on the road to play Columbus um the triaa for the Guardians and uh it's it's like an hour and 30 minute drive so like my fiance at the time was flying up or I guess we were just dating then I don't even know but she was flying up to meet us in Columbus and so I I was driving to Columbus I didn't ride the bus and then halfway through I get a call from my manager Lloyd McLendon and um he's like hey what are you doing and I'm like what do you mean like I'm on my way to Columbus and he's like all right well where are you and I'm like I'm on the highway and he's like no like what exit and I'm like all right give me a second because I I had I had to drive like another mile or whatever to see an exit and I told him and he's like all right we're he goes you need to turn around and come to this Home Depot or whatever parking lot and I was like in my head like I didn't think any I was like this could this could be like two or three different things like something happened and they're getting rid of me um something bad happened like where something like through my family or something and they needed to tell me about it or something or I'm going to the big league so it was like I didn't really know what the hell was happening and so I go all right well I'm like 15 Depot parking lot he sent me the he sent me the the uh I was like did the bus break down or something like what's going on and uh he sent me the location I was like all right well I'm like 15 minutes away so like whatever he goes no I'm staying on the phone with you and I was like okay and so we just like sat there in silence while I'm driving and then I get there and I open I see the bus and the whole team's sitting on the damn bus and I'm like what the hell is happening and um obviously my gear was on the bus so I get out and there he is Lloyd and my dag and stuffer on the ground he goes all right call your dad he goes you're going to the big leagues so I we he goes I want I'm pretty sure he was like I want your dad on FaceTime let's FaceTime him I was like all right then we facetimed him and told him and I think that's what it was yeah great yeah that is a great memory there and Roger and Cody you guys are always so friendly and just makes me wonder uh Roger you're always good signing autographs with fans and whatnot so who was your favorite athlete or did you meet anyone when you were a young fan that kind of made an impression for you to be this way as you became a pro athlete yeah so I loved history so one of my favorites of all time was JFK our president you know I and um you know just learning a little history about him baseballwise uh for me watching growing up you know we didn't have all the video that the the guys do now so I always looked at 8 by10 photos of Nolan Ryan and Tom sver uh I still say that uh what a pleasure and a privilege it was for me at 23 24 years old I was at finway Park and we traded for Tom sver he joined us for our little playoff run and I got to watch a 40 I think he was 4041 uh year old man out there grinding at 88 89 miles an hour and then he get in trouble and he Rush one in there about 94 the ultimate power pitcher I mean the dude pitched and I got to watch it up close and personal um obviously people ask me my dream forsome Sai Young's in there b Bruce in there uh I'll tell you like I've told when I've done M millions of these podcasts I have no idea for the life of me why b Bruce numers not retired Universal what bab Ruth did for baseball when the when this when the country was at an all-time low when he was playing to to to to bring the country back up and to uh I think one year he had more home runs than the entire league and uh but I don't know why Baye Bruce number three is not retired Universal around B because he was baseball I mean there's no way around it and uh so um he he was a guy I would loved to pitch to you know I pitched against some great oldtime dudes you know Don Baylor Greg linski the bull Carlton Fisk Dave Kingman you know then you go into GE Brett Robin ya Paul Moler I mean just stud after studs and then pitched all the way through to you know fa some of these these young guys that are that are just retired now so um you know those are you know just the history behind it I really I really enjoy that part of it and you mentioned some great hitters there but since I'm in the Bay area of Northern California one question I did want to ask you Roger was H what was it like having to face the bash Brothers back in the day and not only that but matching up with guys like Dave Stewart yeah so let me sneak this in real quick my all time the reason the the main reason why I wanted to hopefully get to the big leagues in a hurry is I wanted to face Reggie Jackson and when I was young I still remember when I even say Reggie's name I think about the three home runs he hit in the World Series so I wanted to do that I was fortunate about my fourth start in the big leagues we faced the California Angels and Reggie's batting fourth and you know I caught myself behind the mount tie in my shoes I didn't I didn't want to turn around and even look at him with that half shell helmet on glasses you know and since then Reggie and I were are close friends I got a mural of him at my gymnasium at at my gym at home in Houston and uh uh he kind of calls me heat every once in a while and and and uh you know of course he's named Mr October and uh he loves telling the story but he always would kind of me out because he said that before he come up to the plate the other guys that I'm pitching to in front of him I'm throwing like 93 94 miles an hour and he said then I Step In The Box and you and you you go 97 98 98 and I said you're Reggie Jackson I mean come on dude so your Bay Area the bash Brothers were you know I had fun with cono I mean you're talking about guys when they talk about guys are tough to face the guy the big Power guys that over swing and swing real hard to hit the ball a long ways I just got to stay out of their little happy Zone the contact guys gave me fits you know those guys that were eight 10 12 pitch at bats then you know I wasn't getting to the eighth inning or ninth inning I know that sounds really strange now them guys can only go four and throw 100 pitch in four Innings but if I get in a 12 pitch at bat with Cody I'm not getting to the eighth inning now so I'm trying to so throw something conducive to get you in and out of there matching up against St like matching up against anybody uh and when I'm when I'm facing a number another number one or number two I kind of pay attention the first two innings even though you always say hey I'm not pitching against Pedro or I'm not pitching against Dave Stewart I kind of am I know I'm pitching against their lineup but I'm kind of pitching against them and uh so I got to find out if he looks on the first couple Innings then I got to stay on I can't give up a two-run bomb or something early so you watch that um your boy out there in the bay probably the best hit I've ever seen in my life Barry Bonds Barry Barry had a campfire going on the plate man because he could put his elbow in the strike zone I I think I hit him one time in that armor that he had on and we talked afterwards and I said dude you would feel safe in Iraq back right now with all that equipment on that you have on that that elbow guard not only didn't he put it up it would flare out another two it wasn't even on his body so but he had a campfire going on the plate too so the only only way Annie choked up on that bat so he had all Barrel going through the zone so guys like that you definitely want to crowd him I'm glad you brought it up because I always remember that the media had a little controversy about that I thought always thought that was kind of a fun memory well Cody uh I got a question for you do you and your brother brothers and family it sounds like you might call Roger the rocket like do you have some fun with that around the house or we just call him slick Raj I don't know how that stuck I think one of our high school buddies like dropped that line on him and we thought it was hilarious or something but uh yeah everyone calls him slick uh I don't know why I don't know why they call you that tell what they do what they do to to me to to Really rub it in they go I don't know where they find them on the web they go back and they find these commercials I did when I was like 23 years old one of them's a zest commercial soap commercial and I tell them they're they're bitching and and having fun with me uh I let them know that number one we got a year supply of soap so you guys are the cleanest kids in the country and and I said the check that I got probably helped buy one of your vehicles so I don't be rubbing it in too hard yeah yeah no we don't we don't call them the rocket really um we yeah slick Raj poppy rockers now but I get a lot of slick rids that's good they don't call me they don't call me skidmark either from the movie Kingpin either well I wanted to let you guys talk really quick at the end here about uh the Roger Clemens Foundation one thing I think so cool about it is uh it's a family affair everyone's involved right and I know you do a lot of great work so yeah we just celebrated 30 years of the Clemons Foundation we have we deal with atrisk children uh we've gone outside the box a number of time to help other families military people like I said I work really close with helping a hero and uh the boys chip in when they can we you know some Thanksgiving we're passing out 400 meals sometimes uh complete meals for Thanksgiving uh in in some of the tougher areas around Houston and and Beyond we helped out we sent truckloads of food over to New Orleans when the the hurricane came through there so the boys help out it's something that you know we're proud of um uh I have wonderful gals over there that that help us all the time and and keep pushing us out there uh but yeah we love it we're we're in a program right now with the helping a hero Johnny Morris of Bass Pro Shops the CEO there Lee Greenwood he's one of their brand ambassadors and we're trying to build aund homes for these our wounded men and women that have done so much and sacrificed so much for us so somebody like myself and Cody can roll out in a stadium with 45 50,000 people and feel safe doing our jobs awesome that's great St I'm GNA put a link in the bio too so people can check it out and see if they can get involved appreciate yeah for sure he and also not to mention he has his own children's Wing uh in the hospital in Houston uh it's pretty cool it has all of his pictures everywhere and memorability of his uh you know career and stuff so like you said we all try and get involved every now and then uh when we can and uh we always go out on Thanksgiving passing out those meals and even during the holidays we visit the hospitals and stuff like that so it's it's great and we love it great stuff and guys thanks again for coming on and one last question I know a little bit of a time difference since I'm in California so uh are you guys cooking dinner are you going out like what's the plan for dinner I wish I could cook dinner I've actually been in a hotel since spring training because the career path that I have right now is very up in the air so it's like I don't know where I'm going to be how long I'm going to be in one place so I actually haven't had a home-cooked meal uh since I was home in the offseason so I'll probably door Dash Chipotle or something something figure out something here the good news is you you you have to plan out your meals and you you eat good because that bodies your your engine baby yeah no and thank God he's got his mother's speed he steals a few bases so thank God he's got his mom speed yeah you what are you doing for dinner tonight dad what are you uh we are probably looking at uh uh Capitol Grill oh wow must be nice rub that in on you a little bit must be nice maybe over to the Encore casino to to to win a little of a cash and the way my partner my playing partner's playing we need to go buy a lotto ticket the way he's playing he got up and down from four bunkers which I've played with him hundreds of times I've never SE I'm actually playing with another golfer it's amazing is what I looked ahead so he so he's sandbagging all the other members all I want all as you know playing in Scotland you want the other members pissed off at you I need you playing well in any given time so but uh yeah so thanks for the Father's Day stuff son you know I don't have to say it on this but you know how proud I am of you I mean it's not easy what you do so and I know it sucks sometimes and um like I said you you're your baseball IQ and your playing ability you you can play with anybody in the major leagues right now yeah I just need to get off this injured list well that happens it's gonna dad was on it many time it sucks I hate it so uh it happens when you uh put your body under that kind of stress well Cody heal up quick and uh I hope to see you down the road sometime at another stadium in person and uh Roger I guess I'll see you in Tahoe I'll look for Dj no request yeah stay off the right side stay off the right side of the Fairway but if you're over there act like you're part of arie's Army and kick my ball back to the Fairway hey sounds good all right see thanks Ryan hi baby
