Postgame Press Conference: Coach Nick Sirianni | Green Bay Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles

all right Brazil thank you what an unbelievable atmosphere for a football game again miss the link miss our fans at the link but Brazil I mean wow that was incredible and it was a it was a fun fun fun at felt like a playoff atmosphere and that doesn't that like your fans I mean people of Brazil I that was that was something incredible and we really we appreciate it um we appreciate the hospitality we appreciate the fan support um it was a little louder than I wanted to when the Green Bay Packers were coming out but people over Brazil wow uh that was first class all right uh yeah Nick um that win obviously to escape against a good team I'm sure you're happy about but it felt a little like some of the the wins from from last year because it wasn't completely clean do you how do you yeah it's not easy to win football games in the NFL Jeff um especially when you travel 10 hours and I know the and and uh and I know the Packers travel 10 hours too um it was a it was a good good win against a good good opponent I man do I have so much respect for Coach laflor he is a freaking really good coach and that quarterback's a really good player Jordan love is a really really really good player and that defense is that's tough they got good players at every level um what I'm really proud about Jeff is we it was sloppy it was definitely sloppy um and both sides there was things you know on both sides that looked like that was sloppy but we were able as a football team to persevere through some some dark moments right um there was going to be some good stuff that happened in that game there was going to be some bad stuff that happened in that game and our guys just kept coming back and and I told those guys after the game the the dog mentality um the mental toughness the same thing you know having the same attitude effort and energy no matter what the the circumstances not only serves these guys well as football players but it's going to serve them well in life because life's hard and these guys are fought through um some tough stuff and and I know we got tough guys and they tough-minded guys and so it's not going to look PR week one it rarely looks pretty um we've had some some uh you know thinking back you know I guess Atlanta was a good week one win in 21 but 22 was hard at Detroit 23 was even harder at New England and this one was hard too um but we were able to persevere um and we're not going to be we're not going to be prisoners to you basically what I'm going to say is we're going to be we're going to enjoy this journey and we're not going to let anybody tell us that that wasn't good enough this wasn't good we won the football game we have things to clean up we know we put ourselves in the right positions the way we the way we prepared and we're going to prepare our off again again uh going into the next week who do we I don't even know we play next how do you think Jaylen responded to the turnovers uh you know I I really was we couldn't have played a worse first quarter than we did um offensively defensively did a great job of stepping up but we couldn't have played a worse first quarter than we did and then we came back down the field he hit he hit saquin with a with an unbelievable throw um and so there you know he's going to want some plays back obviously um but I thought you know Jaylen started as far as the the dog mentality of playing through um and handling the adversity um again it wasn't perfect it wasn't perfect on any by any means we can help him out with some play calls here and there as well um but I thought he responded good like that four-minute Drive um that we had we that that that drive started with what eight eight some minutes left to go in the game and we gave him the ball back with 27 seconds why because Jaylen and Devonte connected on some huge plays that's tough football four football is tough football and our guys really responded and to give them back and they were positioned to throw hell Mar at the end of the game but our guys really really responded that four-minute football when things haven't been going great um man I I thought he did some really good things and some CR CL uh pardon me Clutch moments um yeah so I I thought you know there's there going to be plays he wants back but there but he had some really good moments as well it's hot as hell in here all right hi coach congratulations on your win thank you so much um sequ Barkley had this huge debut for the Eagles today so what was what was your approach about the Run game with sequ Barkley uh especially now that he switched switched teams to a division rival yeah we're so excited to have him um great question great question and we're so excited to have him um and he made some huge huge plays throughout this entire game um and uh you know he made it in the past game he made it plays in The Run game I don't even know what he rushed for okay Bob's going to pull that up for us but he made some huge plays and critical moments um and T and and scored a bunch of touchdowns and uh man it it's yeah to have him on our football team um means means a lot right how we did a great job of putting this team together um and uh you know he's a playmaker um and he's a great leader and he's a great person uh people feed off his energy and so uh you could feel all that not only the plays he was making but the energy he had and the positive energy that he had out there whose phone is whose phone is uh be hi Nick congrats on the Wayne is it your phone not mine not mine really um obviously one of the key St lines during the offseason was the changing boat coordinators and as you mentioned it first quarter couldn't have problem couldn't have been worsed but the team responded really good and then next three quarters so how pleasure are with the situation and do you believe that slow start was duing to anything related to a new offense or you think that's just that do it to that's a good defense right that's a good defense I'm pleased with where we are I'm really pleased with these coordinators and it and it's you know you're the way you're pleased with somebody is not because something that the product that was on the field today right it was because of the work that put was put into it um and all the things that have went into it so I think Kellen and Vic are great great great coordinators you know know um games don't always start the way you want them to like that they get paid too and they're and they're good and that's a good football man that's a good football team um but I really thought um the slow start you know slow start was offensively defensive played their off to start that game um to play as bad as we did offensively and to be down six nothing to start the game is is pretty is pretty awesome um and hats off to the defense and we have some thing don't get me wrong we things to clean up on both sides of the football but that could have got that could have we could have got down two scores right away but the defense really did a good job of playing good red zone defense so um pleasa but love these coordinators um uh really pleased with where you are I think they're both home run hits uh and um excited to continue to move on and we're going to we'll have some tough conversations about what went right and what went wrong but uh I'm pleased with who these guys are and and we'll get better from this game Nick obviously Quinton went against a very good wide receiver group what are your thoughts on his NFL debut yeah I thought I thought Q is the moment's never too big for for Q um and I've seen that from you know from Q from the very beginning obviously have a special relationship with q's uh uh college football coach was my college roommate um so you know he told me there's everything there is to know and told Howe everything there is to know about q and so we were so comfortable taking this guy uh because not only the play but because he's not phased and and playing Corner um man did Brazil get a great game tonight or what I know we we converted some people to be big time football fans tonight uh man you know I'm just thinking about that game again what a great football game and I would have love my wife's like it wasn't a great game I I was kidding me I was up all night um but man what a great game but anyway going back to Q um Q just from the beginning what we knew about him from the beginning coming out of Toledo and then also um the way he's handled all training camp and OTAs he's not phased like he's going against AJ Brown and Devonte Smith those are two of the best receivers in the NFL two of the top receivers in the NFL and that's that's pretty awesome right the ironing sharpening iron right iron sharpens iron um one of my favorite Bible verses and um we have so much of that going on on this football team like you know why you know guys having to go against Lane Johnson guys having to go against uh AJ Brown Devonte Smith guys having to go against Darius SLE um he'll be mad I said Darius but guy's going against SLE um and q's a product of that and so um I thought he handled it well and you know he got a uh pass interference at one point but they tried to throw deep on him early on in the game and and he made a big play and uh you know that's that's something I love about Q is his his competitiveness and you really saw that you know again we were told that um but you really saw that as well at the Senior Bowl when he was going against different players um that were all really good football players and he was competing his butt off and um love that about Q good question hey coach good night um AJ Brown said that s Paulo doesn't quite know when to cheer because the environment was really loud all the way and I was watching from the stands and there was a lot of pcker fans so but you had the home field advantage so what I wanted to ask you did it did this feel like a home game you know what um at times um there were there's always Eagles fans everywhere and I that's what I love about Eagles fans they travel so well um but we definitely had to go silent cence here um and so you don't have to do that at home at true home games um but that's okay that's the way this I I figured how this game was going to be and we practiced that all week going silent Cadence um but the atmosphere I can't I I cannot man I I'm not a big soccer fan I haven't watched a lot of soccer in my life I shouldn't say that here I haven't watched a lot of soccer in my life and then um but I can only imagine watching a soccer game here because it it was so electric um and it was loud it was loud when the Packers were you know on on defense and it was loud when the when the Eagles were on defense because the passion of the fans I mean what an unbel I I can't say enough about you know what we just experienced uh it if we want to be who we want to be and it we take things one game at a time it's going to take atmospheres like this um in games like this to prep you for the the the big games coming up and this was a huge game um I'm I'm still going Bob all right but and uh so what an unbelievable what a unbelievable atmosphere yeah you guys are going to want to talk to saquan instead saquon where you at yeah all right baby all right all right go ahead thank you good n nick uh in your first Seasons as a coach you had young coordinators by your side and now you had Vick fangel who proved the exper coach and how do you think this help it tonight and could help in the future you know two of those coordinators that were young are now head coaches in this unbelievable League like in a fraternity of 32 people so Shane siken and uh Jonathan Ganon I love those guys dearly um man we did some special things and won some special games with them um and I miss them uh no doubt um but I'm so happy with the coordinators that we have right now um Vic just brings experience like I've said this a bunch Vic has not only been a good coordinator for year kellen's been a good coordinator for years in the NFL Vic's been a good coordinator for decades like that's insane like and so I'm really I'm so excited uh you know obviously we got some things that we got to clean up on both sides of the ball but but Vic is as advertised and he and I'm so excited that he's our defense coordinator Brooks I get you too just one last question I can see in your eyes your high energy and you have already told us about H The Experience about being in Brazil but if you can think about one moment about this trip what would it be besides leaving the building with the w just the camaraderie of this football team um you know we we talked about before the game a lot of things bring you together as a football team um the grind that you have throughout the training camp and through OTAs the the waight room um the time spent together the competing against each other um but there's nothing like competing with each other against a common opponent for with a common goal and uh yeah again the electricity of the stadium was awesome um but I really think just wins like this bring it closer together as a football team and we always talk about this it's not only it's not the best it's not the best groups of individuals that win it's the best teams that win and that's true of any team sport and I happen to believe that football is the the greatest team sport there is everybody's got to be on the same page and if they're not thing bad plays can happen and so wins like this tough grimy gritty wins like this and and being able to compete together as a football team um that's that's special and that's going to help us continue to grow one other thing with saquin and like saquin caught that ball out of the back field for a touchdown and I think I might have been saquin I might have been the first one down there to celebrate with you I was so excited for you and it was so awesome uh that he scored a touchdown so I'll remember that as well thank you Nick thank you Brooks go ahead yell it out Brooks you know what that's still a competitive advantage that we have that I'll keep to myself and I'm sure you'll ask me next week uh and I'm sure you guys will put make sure uh you guys with Philadelphia imedia put in your notes next year of uh you know should we have played guys more in the opener or in the preseason and everything like that I'm sure you guys will ask me that question again next year
