UP 4%. IT'S ENCOURAGING DATA FOR THE FEDS AS THEY PREPARE FOR A RATE CUT EXPECTED NEXT WEEK. >>> JUMPING THE MAP TO CALIFORNIA, THE WILDFIRES THAT FILL UP AN ENTIRE STATE, IN FACT LOOK AT THIS OVER MY SHOULDER, YOU CAN SEE THE MARKS THERE, THEY SHOW ALL OF THE WILDFIRES BURNING RIGHT NOW AT THIS VERY MOMENT, FOR EVERY FIRE, THERE'S AN ARMY OF FIREFIGHTERS OUT FOR ALL OF THAT TERRAIN. A MAN HAS BEEN ARRESTED FOR STARTING THE LINE FIRE THAT STOUT IN ORANGE COUNTY, JUST OUTSIDE OF LOS ANGELES, THAT IS ONLY 14% CONTAINED. AND HERE'S A SIDE-BY-SIDE LOOK, THE AIRPORT FIRE AND THE BRIDGE FIRE AS THEY'VE BEEN CALLED, THESE TWO WILDFIRES, POSE A GRAVE THREAT TO MANY COMMUNITIES. THERE THEY ARE RIGHT THERE. LOCATIONS, SAME SCENE, SMOKE RISING, BOTH ARE NOT CONTAINED RIGHT NOW. SO LET'S BRING IN RICK, HE'S AN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY AT THE BRIDGE FIRE. WE CAN SEE RIGHT NOW, YOU ARE WEARING THAT MASK, AIR QUALITY MUST BE A BIG CONCERN WHERE YOU ARE? >> Reporter: THE WHOLE AREA IS FILLED WITH SMOKE. I'VE BEEN WITH YOU FOR THE LAST THREE DAYS, TALKING ABOUT THESE FIRES IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, AND HERE WE ARE IN THE TOWN OF WRIGHTWOOD, THIS IS A COMMUNITY KNOWN FOR RECREATION, THEIR SKI RESORTS HERE, AND SO, THIS MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY WAS EVACUATED LAST NIGHT. RIGHT NOW, FIREFIGHTERS WHO ARE DOING STRUCTURE PROTECTION ON THE HOMES HERE ALONG THE STATE ROUTE THAT GOES THROUGH THIS COMMUNITY. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL HOMES THAT WERE BURNED AND SOME POTENTIALLY DESTROYED BY THE FIRE THAT CAME THROUGH OVERNIGHT. IT WAS THE NIGHTTIME HOURS WHEN THEY HAD TO DO EVACUATIONS FOR THIS COMMUNITY. AND WE WERE HERE BEFORE SUNRISE AS WE WATCH THIS MOUNTAINSIDE CONTINUE TO BURN BECAUSE THE WINDS WERE MOVING THE FLAMES THROUGH THE VERY THICK AND DRY BRUSH. FIREFIGHTERS DOING THEIR BEST ON STRUCTURE PROTECTION. THEY SAY THEY WERE ABLE TO GET THE COMMUNITY MEMBERS OUT AND SOME OF THEM, THEY HAD TO GO AND ASSIST THEM, PEOPLE WHO WERE NOT MOBILE ENOUGH TO GET OUT ON THEIR OWN, SO THIS COMMUNITY THOUGH, WELL PREPARED FOR EMERGENCIES LIKE THIS, STILL FIREFIGHTERS ARE FACING ANOTHER DAY WITH STRONG WINDS, AND ALL OF THIS FUEL THAT CAN BURN AND THEY ARE HOPING THAT MORE HOMES DO NOT CATCH FIRE HERE. >> IT'S A VERY SITE WHEN NEIGHBORHOODS ARE EVACUATED, IT'S A QUITE SEEN WHEN ONLY FIREFIGHTERS ARE THERE, WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE GOING THAT ARE UNDER THE EVACUATION ORDERS? >> Reporter: THERE'S FOUR AND EVACUATION CENTERS THAT ARE OPEN FOR THE BRIDGE FIRE AND THEY ARE SCATTERED BECAUSE THIS FIRE IS BURNING ON TWO COUNTIES, LOS ANGELES COUNTY SIDE, SO THE SAN GABRIEL VALLEY AREA IS WHERE IT STARTED AND IT BURNED THROUGH MOUNT BALDY AND THEN OVER TO THE SIDE, WHICH IS IN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY WHICH IS DEALING WITH THE LINE FIRE AS WELL, SO THERE ARE MULTIPLE AREAS WHERE PEOPLE CAN GO, AND EVACUATION CENTERS FOR FAMILIES TO GET SAFETY AND SHELTER AND STAY THERE FOR THE TIME BEING. THERE'S FOUR OF THEM OPEN RIGHT NOW AND OF COURSE, A LOT OF THE COMMUNITIES HAVE LARGE ANIMALS OR THERE ARE CATS AND DOGS THAT ARE IN SHELTERS AS WELL. >> WE SEE THAT YOU HAVE THE GOGGLES ON TO PROTECT YOUR EYES AND THE MASK, YOU STAY SAFE AS WELL. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE LIVE REPORT. >>> SO LET'S JUMP THE MAP TO SEE VIDEOS OUTSIDE OF RENO, NEVADA, THIS ENTIRE REGION ON FIRE, THE DAVIS FIRE, THIS IS NOW THE THIRD LARGEST WILDFIRE IN NEVADA'S HISTORY. AND SCHOOLS ARE SHUTTERED. KIDS JUST TOLD TO STAY HOME AND THAT IS IF THEY CAN STAY HOME BECAUSE EVACUATIONS ARE ALSO UNDERWAY IN MANY PARTS OF THE AREA. THIS FIRE IS ONLY 31% CONTAINED. THAT TERRAIN IN MANY AREAS, VERY STEEP. >> THE WINDS ARE THE BIGGEST CONCERN ESPECIALLY IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA WHEN IT COMES TO THAT FIRE. BUT I WANT TO HEAD BACK SOUTH, WE ARE TALKING SO MUCH ABOUT FIRES BUT THAT'S THE REALITY IN CALIFORNIA. THIS IMAGERY RIGHT HERE. SEE THE FIRE RETARDANT ON THE CAMERA ALONE. YOU WILL SEE THE TIME-LAPSE FROM THE AIRPORT FIRE DOWN IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WHERE JUST YESTERDAY, WE WERE TALKING ABOUT SITTING AROUND 8000 ACRES AND NOW IT'S UP TO 22. THIS FIRE CAME THROUGH LIKE A STORM AND IT WAS RELATIVELY IMPRESSIVE AND IT STARTED MOVING JUST FROM THE WIND. THE WINDS ARE THE BIG DRIVING FORCE OF THIS, ESPECIALLY DEALING WITH SUCH A DRY SEASON ALL THROUGHOUT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA NOW MIND YOU, CALIFORNIA HAD A GREAT SPRING AND WINTER SEASON WITH A LOT OF RAIN AND A LOT OF SNOW WHICH CREATED A LOT OF DRY BRUSH THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER MONTHS AND NOW WE CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE AIRPORT FIRE, SWEEPING OVER THE MOUNTAIN RANGE, ALL OF THESE TOGETHER ARE CALLING -- CAUSING AIR-QUALITY ALERT ALL THROUGHOUT CALIFORNIA. AND YOU SAW THE REPORT, HE WAS WEARING A MASK. THAT IS THE REALITY FOR MANY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIANS. AIR-QUALITY ALERT AND RED FLAG WARNINGS STILL IN EFFECT. WIND SPEEDS TODAY, ANYWHERE UP TO AROUND 50 MILES PER HOUR AT MAX, FOR THE MOST PART IT AREAS LIKE LONG BEACH, STRETCHING OVER TO SAN BERNARDINO. AND ONE THING I WANT TO MENTION HAS TO DEAL WITH THE TEMPERATURES. DAYTIME HIGHS, ALL THROUGHOUT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ARE A LOT MORE BEARABLE COMPARED TO YESTERDAY WHERE WE WERE DEALING WITH RECORD-BREAKING NUMBERS. AND NOW WE ARE TALKING ABOUT 70s IN THE FORECAST. SO BETTER CONDITIONS WHEN IT COMES TO
