Intro all right so the Eagles are 2-0 for the first time in the preseason under Nick serani thanks to once again the late game heroics of Tanner mcke as his favorite Target definitely showed out in a big way and so did the potential tight end three favorite unfortunately it wasn't so good for Kenny picket though but even so the birds are doubling down on KP meanwhile the defense showed up in several spots with niobe Dean making a strong push to start plus a few other big time plays however it heads up on a concussion injury to Johnny Wilson followed by another one to John Ross has several beat Riders expecting a hoe Roseman trade incoming so let's talk about it but first let's run James Bradberry’s days are numbered it what's up guys hey do me a favor hit that like button also a quick thank you to the official sponsor of the channel Underdog fantasy which by the way I had several of you guys asking about a potential fantasy league and I've got more details in the comments if you want to check it out and join anyway speaking of signing the Eagles might should consider adding a safety after what we saw from James Bradberry in the second preseason game versus the Patriots like yeah those of you watch don't need any remind but James Bradberry was bad I mean awful thanks to flashing some deplorable tackling attempts and constantly being out of position as well as just not really showing any kind of speed heck it's probably what had Ruben Frank echoing what most of us felt the James Bradberry we saw against the Patriots looked frighteningly similar to the Bradberry we saw last year no God please no no no no look give JB some credit that at least he was willing to change positions and he's always owned up to his mistakes and been a true professional to that point saying that he was the one on this play who Moved jayx hunt out of QB contained but then failed to realize that it made it his responsibility on the QB keeper so yeah the Vic fangio praising him earlier in the week for playing pretty dang well out there changed pretty quickly which is why understandably a lot of people have reached the JB's time as run out territory I'm not even sure he even knows where he's at right now you know not every corner is able to make the successful transition to safety although given the recent struggles and concerns at safety former Eagle Jaylen Mills has recently been linked to the birds by multiple beat Riders considering the New Interest in Jalen Mills return? York Giants released him after previously being on the nonf football inj list with a calf strain yet according to Adam schfer Mills is now healthy and drawing interest from a couple teams for potential safety depth at the same time I get it if you're like why on Earth do we need another safety with potential injury concerns except first off at least he'd be better than James Bradberry and secondly shout out to pfns Anthony deona for making the point that Mills fits the bill for the type of Versatility fangio is looking for with a 30-year-old Goblin playing 159 snaps at free safety 136 snaps in the slot 106 in the Box 31 as a dime linebacker and 27 lined up at corner last year but seriously that's probably not even the best part since like Anthony shared in the past two seasons Mills has allowed the lowest passer rating of his entire career again obviously this wouldn't be a blockbuster Type move yet just to see this type of depth and signing for the potential of the team is not really that bad of a deal granted I'm with you we did hear similar calls to bring back the goblin last year to novel so maybe it doesn't work out but with Mills being a viable option how would you feel about him returning personally I'd be okay with it although to be honest I'd be much more in favor of some kind of move for wide receiver at this point because my gosh the depth there is well just not really there with the Eagles proving that when they took on the Patriots in Foxboro as Eagles reveal starters right before the game Ross Tucker alerted to everyone that rookie wide receiver Johnny Wilson had suffered a concussion in the joint practice with New England and is now going through the concussion protocol which was a bit strange seeing as though we didn't hear anything about that until right before kickoff of course hopefully he's okay because like I said the wide receiver three spot definitely needs a lot of help but I'll get to a little bit more of that in a sec anyway Nick serani elected to not play the starters partially due to the weather beforehand and partially due to the physical joint practice saying he felt like the fellas needed rest meaning that by then seeing Makai and not dress for Action you officially have your decision on who the Eagle's starting Right Guard is like come on that's not really a shock since for at least a week it's been blatantly obvious where this thing's headed with beckon constantly getting the bulk of first team reps and always starting for real most everyone watching knew this thing was over once Tyler steam went down with an ankle injury in practice followed by reports of the mountain impressing in practice but then to make matters worse Steen actually suffered an ankle injury in the Patriots game presumably re-aggravating the same injury and now putting into question if he'll be ready to go as a backup by week one obviously the hope is that it's not too serious because no matter how you felt about Tyler Steen or maai beckon Philly's going to need Steen this season having said that there is another guy on the o line that serani believes we should be talking about I will single somebody out I think uh I think Fred Johnson is continuing to develop as a as a really solid football player he works O-Lineman standing out his but he's a huge he's a big man right you see that and it's hard to get around him and he just continues to put the work in that he needs to put in to develop at his position and I'm really pleased with how Fred has worked um and his toughness and his and and just his his ability to improve each day and I've and and you can see that and so I'm I'm happy that you ask me for a guy that's my that guy I'll single out right there and I'm proud of Fred of all the work that he's put in to to get himself to where he is right now yes I think we all understand to take sani's praise with a grain of salt but Fred's done fairly well however even though serani said he felt like the starters had gotten enough reps to not need to start Vic fangio disagreed as most of the defense did get the night off but Bryce Huff ended up Bryce Huff making strides starting with agent zer telling Zack Burman that he and fangio agreed additional reps would be good and let's just say he made the most of his outing with Agent Zero showcasing his ability and run support while also quickly recognizing the screen play to get over to the receiver and end up making the tackle and then later Huff flashed another good play in The Run game despite the fact the back was able to loot the first Defender and end up getting the first down of course remember that shouldn't be a massive surprise since the 26-year-old turned some heads at the Joint practice Tuesday so it makes sense after the game Thursday Huff admitted everything's starting to slow down for him to the point where he's able to see what he's supposed to see and react to it which yeah considering the fact that Bryce is coming from a full-on attack front in New York to a different scheme with fangio the extra reps were certainly well warranted but for real this is a really positive sign because again I've said this before but Bryce Huff kind of unlocks Jaylen Carter in that defensive line because if you think about it let's say he gets 10 sacks well then all of a sudden you can't double team Jaylen Carter because you got to have a little bit of a focus on what bryu is doing over there anyway I get the fact that New England isn't the most vaunted offense yet still we try to take the positives as much as we can which is why it was good to see the defense get a quick stop thanks to some violent physicality from Mor Joo however Fangio’s defense creating turnovers unfortunately Kenny Piet in the offense couldn't get anything going being backed up inside their own five and yeah we'll get to qb2 but with the Patriots getting the ball back and in great position after the punt return jacobe Bret had the offense moving down the field with a good balance of runs and passes until finally on the Philly eight yardline brassette didn't make a great throw combined with avonte Maddox making a great play as avonte jumped in to pick the ball off and return it all the way back to Midfield and I can only say this so many times I get it that it's the preseason and it's the Patriots but still to get a turnover in that situation is really good also I understand some doubt about number 29 but I'm sticking to my belief that if he's healthy then he can be a decent backup option but yeah I'm even struggling to believe that that's a big if now after the turnover that resulted in the end of the night for most guys towards the top of the depth chart on defense however I wouldn't call much of anything a lock on that side of the ball even though to be fair Zack Bon had a much better night as the starting linebacker especially showing a strong prowess and run support on more than one occasion so I will be curious to see if he did enough to hold on to the job although NOCO might have something to say about that since he finished with a team high five tackles one Bon went out Nakobe Dean looked different and sure I've been high on fangio starting Tandem and not necessarily high on noobe yet there's no other way to put it he was just flying around with a different intensity on Thursday night as he flashed that continued Blitz ability plus he even showed a better understanding and coverage as well something he admitted as coming together everything is coming together like exactly how you think it should come like every week this the defense the offense everybody just continue to get better and everybody continue to miss see the type of communication we have between um between all levels from the dline to the linebackers to the DBS all levels is just becoming more smooth and we starting to uh we start we can do more things when now that we are more familiar with each other honestly noobe is not wrong like I said he had five tackles with four of them being solo and even though Zack Bond played well the starting spot is only closer after the Patriots game I mean I get that we take gradings with a grain of salt but according to PFF Dean is the highest graded Eagles player through the first two preseason games having said that there was a time last year when Nicholas Morrow was one of the highest graded linebackers in the NFL so so yeah but regardless the extra reps are improving his game I feel like I've gotten better daily um from beginning the camp to now my man my zone coverage everything has gotten better as well as everybody else on the defense we we continue to get better I mean we we at practice we get to go against guys like Dallas AJ um Smitty uh saquan Kenny out the back field so going against those guys they get us better they they going to give us some of the best look we can ever get by the way noobe also admitted despite playing well he did take a step back in the open practice but that's kind of been what's fueled him because it's really a no-brainer yet like you mentioned getting to go up against a guy like saquin Barkley day in and day out in practices only makes you better so even though Kenny gell beat him badly on a few touches as well a few weeks ago would it be crazy to say that I have more confidence now in toobe Dean to win his job than I do and Kenny picket to win his I'm serious like you guys already know but Kenny P was not very good now I guess if you want to take a Kenny Pickett played small quick glance at the box score it might look like at least he was accurate but Kenny piet's hands were all over the first half shortcomings for example shout out to Warren Shar but KP dropped back 17 times in the first half with just a 0.7 average of air yards per completion along with four sacks taken resulting in a negative 0.48 EPA per drop back otherwise translated as really really bad come on what is wrong with me today that's awful no matter how you slice it but the fact that he did something very similar in the first preseason game is a little bit alarming since against Baltimore can he dropped back 23 times in the first half and only threw the ball more than 10 yards four times which by the way that resulted in four incompletions so getting back to the most recent game despite QB question mark registering 67 passing yards 19 of those came on a dump off play to Shipley which really only made it look worse for Picket however the part that may be even worse is the fact that at one point KP took four sacks within the span of eight dropbacks and sure he definitely wasn't getting great blocking and the Patriots had more their better pass rushers in there when he was playing so again I get it the protection was bad yet the ultimate example of him being completely lost came on a fourth and eight from the New England 42 as picket inexplicably held on to the football all right and nobody's blocking bro it was fourth and eight so you might as well you know throw it and try to make something happen anyway he didn't and Tanner mcke did with it literally only taking two passes to see mcke is better granted yes most of the Patriots pass rushers were out by this Tanner McKee should be QB2 point but just the fact that mcke shows a decisiveness and confidence to let it fly is drastically different than pick it unfortunately the eagles found themselves in a fourth in short which would normally be good except there's a reason Jaylen Herz is so good at the brotherly shove as that fumble gave the ball back to the Pats however ever Drake May couldn't get much going either and eventually gave the ball back after just three plays where on the next possession mck picked up right where he left off completing strikes in particular to his favorite Target Joseph andada before Philly once again found themselves at a fourth and one as this time Lou Nichols got the handoff but wasn't able to get enough to push for the first down which yeah I would have loved to see them get the first down especially with it only being a yard but of course they didn't however mck still looked really good and even though he didn't say it you can tell he's confident about his chances at qb2 do you think you're ready to beat number two uh that's not that's not my decision um I wish it was um but I'm I'm just ready to go out and play whenever they call my name Kenny's been a great teammate and we're going to continue to compete for probably the whole year I mean the whole team loves to say iron sharpens iron so you think that mck could at least get a fair shake at qb2 although it's funny because at the precise moment when mcke was pulled Eagles Insider Dave spedo came on to share with the public that despite conversations among fans about Tanner mcke being the qb2 the Eagles really like Kenny picket and that they view this team with three QBs and Kenny picket is to I don't believe you I'm sorry the numbers speak for themselves and we all saw it or I take that back maybe serani didn't I I think they're both doing a nice job uh yeah I think uh Sirianni shuts down McKee hype Tanner made some really nice throws down the field today uh with some good anticipation with uh you know and and I'll have to look at the tape of what happened you know but they they' both had good practices uh through to the state um they both I thought they both played solid today now I'll have to watch the tape to see exactly what happened it's really hard to kind of say exactly you know I don't I don't remember any plays that I felt like like um you know Kenny made him like oh man that that was detrimental right obviously you go back or um or even or with Tanner either that they made I didn't have any of those notes down like that but um like I I thought they I thought they both played well within the scheme and I thought they both did some nice things that a competition or is is number Kenny you know you saw where they went in today Kenny's our number two Tanner Tanner are number three and um I'm really happy that those guys are both on the roster I get that they traded a lot for him but come on hello anybody home am I being emotional maybe and I will say that I did expect picket to be a little better than this but the eagles need to face the facts that he hasn't been good of course I should mention that according to several beat Riders practices have looked much closer between picket and mck yet it's just once the lights come on and the players suit up that mck seems to lock in plus I know that it's just the preseason but Tanner's shown twice now that he has the ability to lead the team to a win in the fourth quarter with a former sixth round pick going seven for eight on the game-winning drive for 70 yards and eventually connecting with an nias Smith for a throw to convert the two-point conversion which by the way great also to see that from an IIA Smith yet personally if we're going to talk about a receiver it should be inata as the Joseph Ngata and EJ Jenkins were stars former udfa hauled in five receptions for 88 yards on five targets which like I said earlier is clearly mck's number one option and got the stamp of approval from AJ Brown afterwards saying Joe was the star of the game as you could clearly see SW Batman hyping up his guy nearly the entire night oh yeah and then another positive takeaway in the receiving game was tied in EJ Jenkins with a former wide receiver collecting five catches for 47 yards and an impressive showing however it was his blocking according to Andrew Deo that really stood out helping the birds to convert first downs on more than than one occasion while also being really physical which is something the 25-year-old said he's been working on coming into his training camp the one thing I wanted to approve the most on was my blocking my footwork just because I was a receiver in college um so I knew that that was going to be a hard transition for me but uh I just embrace it embracing uh embracing the whole role of being a tight end and just taking it day by day and just working on one thing at a time to improve my game overall how'd you get better at it I got better at it it's just hitting the bag man yeah I just kept hitting the bag uh big Bera um just running my feet the board work board work too and even when I'm in the room by myself I just keep working on my steps so that transition to the field too so it just it definitely helps you know we've had similar questions about blocking for Albert o but it does feel like EJ Jenkins could be the guy to take that next step heck like I mentioned before Dallas GD and Grant calcatera are locked but it gets a little shaky beyond that so after making several plays maybe there's a chance he can sneak onto the roster at that third spot especially with it being reported before the game that the wide receiver three spot is very much open and that the team has Howie Roseman closer to trading for WR? talked about using a tight end in that role walking out a running back or even moving Devonte Smith into the slot to create favorable matchups here me out though I'm not saying EJ Jenkins is that guy I'm just saying that as far as the receiving and the versatility it's something to like however with Johnny Wilson going through the concussion protocol and now also John Ross I'd say it's time for har Roseman to make a move for wide receiver as several others would agree like Ruben Frank who said the possibility remains fairly significant that howy Roseman will go out and find a wide receiver three either on the street unlikely the waiver wire unlikely or through a trade which is more likely while also inserting that cvy will have a role no matter what happens but he's not convinced the guy who will be eventually wide receiver 3 is currently on the roster and honestly that's exactly how I feel a trade is coming of course sure we've already heard rumored reports about Howe working the phones for a wide receiver anyway but given the injuries and lack of certainty around Paris Campbell's groin I kind of think we might get something this week having said that who's your favorite Target for howwi to go after and why personally I've seen names thrown out there like Darius Leighton with a 27-year-old recording 770 yards on 50 receptions and four scores last season it we did just get Paris Campbell coming over from the Giants in free agency yet the one thing with Slayton is that he's been Fairly reliable while also being able to stay healthy and played 195 snaps in the slot last season but if we're being honest it's probably not realistic that Joe Shane does a trade with Howie for how the saquon thing played out so in that case how about Adam theen since Jimmy kimky also thinks the Eagles should trade for a white out and has theen toward the top of that list like you want to talk about consistency and theen has been it plus just an all-around good locker room presence a hard worker and not a guy who's going to complain about not getting targets although when he is Target he is productive heck the dude ended up having over 1,000 yards last season in Carolina and played 472 snaps of his 677 in the slot so obviously he's got the versatility either way if AJ or Smitty were injured now I will say that a fair point Carolina may want to keep him around to have weapons around Bryce young but the idea of potentially getting a pick back might be enough to entice him or the other home run at least when it comes to wide receiver three would be Tyler Lockett however that one feels a lot more farfetched and I don't know that you're giving up that many draft picks of course the other route you could take is something with the Texans for maybe John M which I've talked about or even waited out since you might get a guy like Robert Woods if they were to cut him at the same time wide receiver 3 isn't a cause to freak out it just feels like that's the one move that kind of pushes the offense over the edge anyway getting back to the game though special team certainly wasn't great and hopefully Michael Clay's unit can get it tightened up as they allowed a couple massive returns during the game although individually Other takeaways from preseason Ben vanman is for sure a locked to make the roster and might just be your best player for the Eagles on special teams oh yeah you knew I couldn't go an entire video without mentioning my guy Nolan Smith who did get a sack in the game granted it was late and I understand the about jayx hunt garnering more attention up to this point however aack is solid and he has insane athleticism so even with lesser competition I'm going to trust fangio to put him in the best spots and don't count out him picking up steam and then another guy I've got to mention is Thomas Booker with a 24-year-old defensive tackle continuing to build momentum for a roster spot as he had multiple reps where he got pressure including one sack meaning my guy Gabe Hall is probably looking at practice squad because Booker is certainly earning it and also gay Paul apparently came off with maybe a hamstring injury so we'll see having said that there's still time so it's not impossible and we've got still about 10 days before roster cut down but I'm curious who is your wild card
