STORY ON OUR WEB SITE HERE IN LONGMONT, NICOLE FIERRO FOX. 31. ALRIGHT, THANKS, NICOLE. THERE LIVE LOOK OVER DOWNTOWN DENVER 2024. IS NOW THE SECOND HOTTEST SUMMER ON RECORD IN THE MILE HIGH CITY. AND WHILE IT WAS ANOTHER HOT DAY TODAY. >> THE BEGINNING OF SEPTEMBER CAN BRING QUITE THE CONTRAST HE WAS STRANGE TO TALK ABOUT. BUT FEW PINPOINT. METEOROLOGIST, LET'S BEGIN HERE WITH SOME OF THE DATES. DENVER HAS SEEN ITS EARLIEST FIRST. >> MEASURABLE SNOW. WE'RE JUST LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO COOL US OFF HERE OH, YEAH. AT THIS POINT, YOU ALMOST JUST HAVE TO LOOK BACK INTO THE ARCHIVES AND FIND PICTURES LIKE THIS, WHICH BELIEVE IT OR NOT. >> THIS WAS ON THIS DATE BACK IN 1961. WHERE THE DENVER AREA RECORDED EARLIEST EVER FOR SNOWFALL. IN TOTAL DENVER AREA. IT WAS AN INSIGNIFICANT NUMBER EITHER. IT WAS 4.2 INCHES OF SNOWFALL. IT WAS ACTUALLY MEASURED AND REMEMBER IN ORDER FOR SNOWFALL TO BE CONSIDERED MEASURABLE, WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO AT LEAST PICK UP A 10TH OF AN INCH THAT ACTUALLY STICKS TO THE GROUND. NOW, OF COURSE, THAT WAS ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS. EARLIEST DENVER'S EVER RECORDED THAT FOR SNOW SEPTEMBER 3RD. AND WE JUST SAW THAT PICTURE FROM WAY BACK IN 1961. AND IT REALLY WASN'T THAT LONG AGO THAT WE SLID INTO SECOND PLACE FOR THE SECOND EARLIEST THAT DENVER'S EVER RECORDED ITS FIRST MEASURABLE SNOW. AND THAT DATE, SEPTEMBER 8TH, WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO HIT THAT DATE IN 2020 MOST RECENTLY WITH ONE INCH OF MEASURABLE SNOW AND THEN 7 TENTHS OF MEASURABLE SNOWFALL FELL ON SEPTEMBER 8. BACK IN 1962. ROUNDING OFF THE TOP 5. WE HAVE SEPTEMBER 12TH WHERE IT 1989 1974, THEY HAD SOME PRETTY SIGNIFICANT FOR SNOWFALL AS WELL. NOW, DON'T WORRY. IT'S NOT EVERY DAY EVERY YEAR THAT WE GO FROM 90'S DOWN TO THAT FIRST SNOWFALL. FACT, HERE IN THE DENVER AREA, WE GENERALLY SEE THAT FIRST SNOWFALL AROUND OCTOBER 18TH, BUT LIKE WE WERE JUST TALKING ABOUT THE EARLIEST THAT THE DENVER AREA HAS EVER RECORDED THAT FIRST SNOW SEPTEMBER 3RD, BACK IN 1961. BUT WE HAVE MADE IT AS LATE AS DECEMBER. IN FACT, DECEMBER 10TH JUST A FEW YEARS AGO IN 2021. WAS THE LATEST THAT DENVER HAS EVER RECORDED. THAT FIRST SNOWFALL. AND AS FAR AS THE LAST FEW YEARS AGO, YOU'LL NOTICE THERE'S QUITE THE RANGE ANYWHERE FROM THE LAST COUPLE YEARS, DECEMBER 10TH TO AS
