Are the Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars Playoff Bound in 2024? || The Spread

I am here to try to figure it out we came up with this I came up with this I'm not going to give you too much credit um we're like I said we're gonna go through The Good the Bad and the Ugly uh we'll get to the ugly when when we get there like I said Ricky and I have kind of chopped it up every which way so far so I'm going to kind of lean on you and just let you kind of throw some of your hot takes at me and we'll kind of Bounce stuff off of each other and go from there the good news is I'm just here for one day so whatever I say like if it doesn't work out accountability accountability I might really go off the rails today all right so the idea was like I said good bad and ugly so for for the first segment if you want to call it that uh the good let's look at we're trying to dive into teams that we think May exceed expectations in 20 24 whether that's the narratives what the public thinks whether that's betting whatever you want to call it I pose this to you you gave me three teams let's run them down one by one who's one team that you think is going to exceed our expectations in 2024 first one I want to get started on is is it's I think it's going to be my adopted team this year oh my goodness you know how every year I pick a team to root for I'm going to pick the Denver Bron for now so you're rooting for the Broncos this year I'm rooting for the Denver Broncos what if the Cowboys are good I'll root for the Cowboys what if the Rams are good the Rams are the I'm from Los Angeles so the Rams will always be there and the Cowboys La didn't have a team uh so I cheered for the Cowboys growing up those two teams will always have near and dear space in my heart but this year I love the Denver Broncos uh their schedule is very forgiving a lot of people if I ask you off the top right now don't look how many wins did the Denver Broncos have last year seven they had eight wins okay everyone I asked they say something lower they say even lower like four or five wins because everyone remembers the Broncos and how poorly they started and how disastrous it was it was they were one and5 Russell Wilson looked totally inept uh and they but they finished seven and4 and they had a win against the Chiefs so I think their offense especially with Shawn pyton offensive mind kind of click together towards the end of the season and um now they have B Knicks as their starter and I'm kind of banking on B Knicks to be a good quarterback all whatever I'm saying right now is all uh contingent on Nicks kind of exceeding expectations and being a solid quarterback we've seen that in the preseason so far so uh there's some precedent in that but uh I I'm looking at their schedule and their season total which is it started off at 4 and a half and it's since then been pushed to five and a half so looking at their schedule which they have a bunch of winnable games Seattle Pittsburgh Tampa uh Vegas twice uh Carolina New Orleans they're basically playing the NFC South and they get the the Raiders twice that's a bunch of that's a bunch of D potential W's uh you get a you run into a couple of wins against some good teams like they did last year against the Chiefs and they can easily surpass that five and a half total easily yeah not easily but I think they will I think they can get eight wins again they won eight time last year with with garbage quarterback play and and if they get some confident quarterback play why is the number lower then I think I I think it's because of the why is it so much lower that is this because like Russell Wilson sucks so like I don't know if bonick I don't know anything about Bon knck relative to the NFL game sure but like is it that much of a downgrade I I guess probably on the whole but is it a three- win downgrade I don't know I that's that's where I agree I'm picking up what you're putting down here on this I think cuz I don't think that that division I I don't know like the more I think we were kind of higher in the Chargers the more I think about the Chargers sounds like there's not a lot of great Returns on Justin Herbert so far it doesn't the system might not completely fit I think with the Chargers you're hoping is like they just Harbaugh raises the floor compared to the coaches that they've had since they drafted Herbert but that's no slam dunk so that division is more getable than maybe it's been in the past the Chiefs I think I would feel better about the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl almost than I do them winning the division because it's just anything get to December or January and then the Raiders suck so yeah I I think you're um I think you might be one for one here so far I don't I'm not saying they're going to make the playoffs I'm not saying they're going to win the division win the Super Bowl I just think they're they're they can win seven games that's all I'm saying this the question was who are you higher on than the numbers are saying and this is a good start uh they are three years of rust sh shake it off just like that they are 20 to1 to win the division uh to make the playoffs they are plus 540 but you said like the 5 and a half it's Juiced to the over I think it's likeus 140 yeah but I I would be happy to go alter the BET to 6 and A2 if you can on whatever app you're using and get some plus money if possible that's true like or even for the for the number itself like for the five and a half like six and 11 feels like a Bad season but very doable at the same time 100% yeah absolutely I I like this what do we think about Shawn Peyton I don't know I think he's that's a good what do you think about Shawn Payton I well I mean I asked you I to not have to answer obviously in this modern NFL you want an offensive coach and he's an offensive coach with a Super Bowl ring how offensive though is he that's I guess my question is he is he's a weird one right like and it's there have been guys like him who have had success I think he's like in more ways than one diet Andy Reid right like yeah a guy who was at one point an offensive whiz but now everybody's kind of caught up and the game is evolved to a certain place I think Reed's done a really good job to evolve pton not so sure but at the same time is that a players thing or is that a coach thing cuz he I think I mean I don't know find out because who's B Knicks uh you know if he struggles and they they're just going to blame him whereas if uh I don't know someone some other off quarterback struggles with a defensive head co Drake May struggles are going to say oh well he has a defensive head coach and so I I don't know what to think of Shawn pyton I think again I'm not saying they're going to win the division or make the playoffs I just think they're they have enough they have a lot of weapons fantas Andante Willams other receiver why am I for his name right now rith no Mims mff Mims oh okay uh the he returns kick sometimes but he's going to have a bigger role now especially that they got rid of Tim Patrick a couple days ago sure uh and and the Lions everyone already knows yep Tim Patrick Tim Patrick ping all right I like that uh give me another one uh I like the Jaguars to exceed expect this year like again people were they were 8 and3 last year and then they collapsed I thought you were going to say they're eight and3 for the season like w okay um okay they they collap eight and three they were first place and then their season just you know they someone took the rug under them and they fell flat on their face and they missed the plan they finished third place but I think this helps them with finishing third place because they get an e a little bit easier schedule it plays all the third place teams from the other divisions and you're also playing the AFC South schedule so I think they're over under I want to say I wrote it down in my very unorganized notes eight and a half eight and a half I think they can get nine wins I think they can win the division I think people are way too high on the on the Texans I think this is a uh a very good oper uh example of a situation where we can get a sophomore slump with stoud and Jordan love which we'll get to later on but uh and and Trevor Lawrence kind of experienced that too he had a great year made the playoffs took a step back last year but I think he's older now mid 20s maybe even late 20 20s and I think uh uh you were talking about their off camera their I love the idea that one year I guess at some point yes you do go from your mid to your late 20s and it only takes one year yeah we can we can tryy to figure out what that one year is but apparently he's pass that he's passed through that Rubicon huh he's 27 25 oh really okay he's mid 20 I literally can't get any more middle he turns 25 on October 6th so you like you like the Jaguars offseason moves you were talking about I do yeah I think uh they they did a lot of smart things I guess they had some they had some major holes obviously but I think that they kind of went out and tried to fix what ailed them I mean what did they do they um offensive line I think was an issue for them uh what else did they do I'm trying to they got some defensive players uh they got the guy from the Packers Savage Savage who whatever I needed a fresh start EZ Cleveland felt like a great move for their offensive line they where they get Eric Armstead was the you mean Jacksonville what or we're talking about the Jaguars I they they signed or they reigned ezar Cleveland what did I say I thought you were talking about the Browns for a second I apologize they got Mitch moris uh this this turned to uh uh in a different direction very quickly this is feels right at home uh Gabe Davis as well oh right that's a huge one yeah so like they no nothing jumps off the page there but I guess to your point if you're taking a team that was eight and three at one point I looking at too what the hell happened to them because they were not only were they eight and three it started from that Monday night game against the Bengals that went to overtime it's exactly what it was because and they had another close loss after that and then I think they just they um yeah it's really impressive like they there three losses and they eaten three thing were I mean uh they lost to Kansas City Houston and San Francisco no shame in any of those and then the wheels kind of fell off start ccin no shame Cincinnati um so yeah I think again in Jacksonville I hate doing this in August because who knows what injuries will happen but Jaguars to end the season check this out Titans Jets Raiders Titans Colts that's five winnable games to close out the season and maybe win the division against some divisional weak division opponents and who knows what the Jets will be at that point and the Raiders I think might be the worst team one could argue that every game is winnable until it's not
