okay Brandon auk not at practice now I know he hasn't been practicing but unlike some other players who are negotiating new contracts he's been present for the most part he's been holding in he's been around the building he's been on the practice field he was dapping up Kyle Shanahan and John lch the other day which we'll get into in a second but he was absent today and that caused a stir online because 49ers content creators in the last 24 48 hours there's been a couple of leaks that an extension is done it's just being finalized right now well no announcement up to this point there's been other chatter that a trade could be be on the horizon and here we are just kind of waiting and seeing how this thing plays out between the 49ers and their number one wide receiver and The Situation that has been the recent internet chatter with everything circulating around this player right now and it's been a long off season for this situation I mean iuk has taken to social media on numerous occasions he was posting Jaden Daniels pla practice Clips during OTAs which I don't even know if that's allowed by the way that he gets a practice clip from Washington his former college teammate Jaden Daniels posts it on his social media uh back in early July and now you've got kind of this stalemate situation between a player a very good player in a organization who's trying to win a Super Bowl and probably needs iuk to maximize their chances of doing that but doesn't want to pay him what he thinks he deserves which is $30 plus million per year Kyle Shanahan on Friday said this he was asked what's the latest on Brandon and iuk and uh Trent Williams as well was lumped into this question he said there's no updates nothing new um and look for San Francisco these AR unchartered Waters they've been in these contract negotiations in recent years and you know a lot of these deadlines have come down to the wire Nick Bosa I think signed in the first week of September last year before their opener they've been through this with Fred Warner Deo Samuel a couple years ago that was a bit of a hectic off season I think he signed new deal either in July or August so it's not unchartered but I do think this when it comes to Brandon iuk I think the longer this goes on the more it feels like the 49ers are going to hold firm on their number I think it they clearly have done that already and there was that report a week or two ago that uh when iuk requested a trade that uh San Franc Isco hasn't made a new offer since May and around that time I think the chat was like at 26 million perer which a lot of money but a lot of guys have gotten 30 plus now DJ Moore got 27 and a half earlier this week from Chicago and I think iuk is closer to DJ Moore than he is AJ Brown for example who got 32 per year he's certainly not Justin Jefferson you know you could say he and am Monro St Brown are similar caliber but again and we've talked about this the Detroit Lions are a much more pass happy team and St Brown gets much more targets and volume in Detroit than iuk has or ever will in Kyle Shanahan's offense they run the football more and so you've got this situation where yes on the open market iuk probably gets 30 million per year but the Niners are saying we think you're a 2627 million player for what we do offensively especially considering we've already paid Debo Samuel and so it's a tough spot right now and I know a lot of people have been speculating because there was a clip a couple of days ago like oh Brandon iuk Kyle Shanahan and uh John Lynch they're dapping up contract around the corner and uh they asked Shanahan about that today and he said that's just how we greet each other it's a broh hog nothing more nothing less and then he that's when he later said yep no updates on the contract stuff so I don't know where things sit and I don't know what the Resolution resolution is because again the 49ers are in a tough spot here because they've been in this Super Bowl window we saw them go in 2019 with Jimmy Garoppolo and they couldn't seal the deal but you know that one wasn't as gut-wrenching even though being up 10 in the fourth is tough to not win it because I I I think like getting to a Super Bowl Jimmy Garoppo's is kind of maxing out in a sense and that team was still pretty young like KD was young you know know now they're aging a bit like KD still really good he's getting up there Fred Warner is not getting younger Trent Williams 35 36 years old mcaffrey is not going to run like this forever you may have to pay BR pry starting next year big money and so they're fighting this balance of we really like iuk we're trying to win a Super Bowl this year because it's only going to get tougher once we pay pery but we don't want to pay you $30 million either so what do you do and and I think the resolution is either iuk takes what's on the table San Francisco says screw it we'll pay you what you want or you trade him and get a win now piece in return maybe that's a different receiver maybe you do a swap with for Devonte Adams maybe it's some kind of trade with New England where you get a good draft pick next year and Matt judon maybe judon and a second round pick put him opposite of Nick Bosa sure your offense will take a hit but your defense which is already good gets that much better I I I I don't think you can do a picks only trade if you were going to do that I think you needed to do it before the draft because you need help right now this window I don't want to say it shuts after this year but it gets a lot tougher once you pay Brock py who's a very good player but that's for any team when you pay a quarterback when you pay the quarterback he has to elevate lesser Talent once he gets paid right now you have the best luxury in the NFL where you have a top 10 top 12 quarterback who's making basically league minimum money uh because he was Mr Irrelevant in the draft and brought pry after this year that changes unless you don't commit to him or whatever the case may be so it's going to be tough Brandon iuk want top dollar what he thinks he'd get on the market I don't blame him 49ers say listen we're a run first team we don't want to pay you 30 million don't blame them either something's going to give and I do wonder if the longer this goes if a trade is what's going to be on the table and you guys
