College Football 25 Dynasty Week 2 - Pittsburgh vs Cincinnati

welcome to Historic Nipper Stadium home of the Cincinnati Bearcats and they've been playing football here since 1902 and the fans are ready to see their team take the field this match up today part of the lifeblood of the sport a rivalry game where the results will be remembered for a lifetime as we'll see a squad from the ACC the Pittsburgh Panthers taking on a team from the Big 12 the Cincinnati Bearcats for EA Sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David poock and Jesse Palmer time to get this game started and the Bearcats will get us started with the opening kickoff and he takes this from inside the five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 so the pit Panthers offense takes the field these rivalry games can really get the blood pumping and we'll see who can manage their emotions best early everyone's been waiting for this game right you know both of these teams have had this game circled all the way back to the beginning of the off seon so you got to be able to play Under Control with it's complete a huge pick up and he's to the 48 yard line that'll be good enough for a first down and so much for feeling each other out for a few plays these guys come out spinning it all gas no breaks come in and spin the magic bean on the opening play of the game taking a shot does it get better than that this go less than a yard to go to pick up the first down they'll see if they can find some Running Room on the right here tackled but he has a first down well the defense knew coming into this one it was going to be a physical game guys are going to have to be great at the point of attack and get off blocks and make tackles it couldn't stop the offense from picking up that first down on that run play makes the cat it's Reed they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground covered pick up the first this offense has a second down play Power football with the Run he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple listen I know there are a lot of DBS out there that all they want to do is get interceptions and dance in the end zone this dude likes to put his face in the fan get close to the line of scrimmage and tackle and on the opening drive that he's out there he gets a huge tackle for loss early that is a statement play going to work with a fresh set of downs they'll try the right side they make the stop after a pick up of three just inside the red zone at the 19 got three on first down it's second and seven to the ground with the back pushing ahead a tough run picks up for it's down at the 15 and you know we talk about great third down defenses it really starts with them getting stops on first and second down you've got to get those stops early in the drives to set up third and long so that's a missed opportunity on that second down by this defense and they'll get him down inside the five of this offense powering for a score and the Panthers have it with a first and goal they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one yeah what a great job by the defense you got to understand it's physical time right they want to run the football and they start getting inside the five nice job getting penetration getting the tackle for the loss back to throw it's Hol steeve he makes a catch in the end zone touchdown Panthers how about the start from this offense what a drive just when they needed a third down conversion they got it they put a bunch of plays together kind of wore the defense out and in the end punched it in for six [Music] [Applause] they'll try to add another to their lead and he's got the extra point and it's 7 nothing to start this one so it's an 80 yd drive and they cap the drive with a four yd touchdown pass Cincinnati zero and and he'll just take a knee and this drive will start at at 25 the beare cats offense will go to work for the first time here are our impact players for this game and it goes beyond executing an assignment to make an impact in the game yeah obviously we were talking to both coaching staffs this week and we asked them who needs to step up and play while they immediately pointed to these guys right here they are the keep for their respective teams yeah and they don't always show up in the boxing ball but these are the guys are the leaders these are the guys getting everybody organized and have to play well for their team to succeed quarterback on the keeper he breaks a tackle and his MERS are probably rattling after that big hit but he did get the first down now from the 40 it's first and 10 looking for a gap it's prior not a whole lot of room there three yards maybe second and setup got a little work done on first down now back to the line now on the option and maybe they want to try somewhere else because there is nothing doing in the middle of this defense some third down conversions tougher than others this one a long one on third down from the 43 to the air it's sorby fires to the wide out that was almost picked off and what a disaster that that would have been to throw a pick on the opening drive instead it's Fourth Down on the return it's G slips through the line man oh man did that coverage team have its hands full well well not full because they didn't get a hand on him for quite a while great return there first snap of this drive will come from the 46 grabbed in the back field it's Williams and a good job of coverage by that defense just a short pick up picked up some yardage with that completion now second [Applause] down try to get the edge with a quick touch pass gets it inside the 10 and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end how many ways can I get it to my guys who can fly who are Playmakers and let them make big plays this is another one you've seen catch the football flip itead really quickly get it to a burner go in full speed across the formation he gets the edge makes the big play all right well the offense here they're trying to get this run game established they obviously don't break off a long run there but they're just trying to find their footing at this point he wants to pass it on second down he's got it In The End Zone touchdown pit one thing this team has shown early this year it does not take them long to find their footing they get off to fast starts that was critical for them winning their first game and you've seen it here in this one too they show up ready to go there's no sleepwalking I think you got to give this coaching staff a ton of credit for putting their players in good positions to have success getting set for the point after point the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and the score comes on a 17 yard throw for the touchdown he thought about bringing that out for a half second but he'll take a knee and they'll bring it to the 25 here comes the Cincinnati offense back on the field that last Drive fizzled out Jesse they had to pun it yeah they did and David they're just going to have to do a better job this time around erasing the mental mistakes and just trying to solve the defensive riddle understanding what they're trying to do to you and attack them stuck with a running game on first down now here they come again leaves it with the running back they finally make the stop at the big run is plenty to move those sticks for the first down as they get set to snap it just about to reach the end of the quarter wants to throw on first down off the play fake if BS incomplete and we'll change into the field to get things started back up guys has the end of the quarter and Pittsburgh has the lead they wanted to strike first and strike hard and they've been able to do that here in the first quarter as we take a look at the stats this could be a pivotal moment in this game as we open the second period and they try to find a way to answer and here comes the offense on second down back to throw it's sorby good timing on the quick out and he goes out of bounds after a nice pick up on that one a completion but not quite enough for the first down third down coming for this offense they'll try to run for it that just never had a chance as they controlled the middle of the field and stopped him in the back field on third down and the Bearcats will try to pin them back with the punt this will be the second time they've had to kick it get away and the return man has no place to run no place to hide and a place to be tackled the pit offense back on the field and ready to roll they've jumped on them executing at a high level and up 14 nothing David this is the exact start you want I mean offense is playing great defense has gotten stops you're in a position now Paulo to put the hammer down and get a three possession lead I'm really impressed with their physicality on both sides of the ball early in this one they've been winning in the trenches so here on offense keep running the football and show your dominance now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass that's caught it's Reed and they gave him no chance to get loose and they forc a fourth down pit will line up to PL it away getting our first look of the afternoon at the punter here's the fair catch but there is a flag on the feel we might have to do this one again kicking Ki well the kicking team obviously missed the fair catch signal the officials did not offense getting set for first down SPID they'll give it to the back makes that one pay off and they finally get him down at the 38 it'll be first down I know this is an offensive line that has a ton of problem and they want to come out each and every game and really impose their will on the dline they got just enough push there on that run play to pick up the first he's going to pass caught in the back field it's prior he's there to make the Stop and they threw it in reverse losing yardage on that play and now on second down for this offense they go to the draw brings him down at the 27 yd line it's a pick up of 15 and a first down for this offense used the play fake now to throw and the quarterback will take a sack back at the 36 and that is priority number one for defenses get to the quarterback affect him hit get hits on him they do it right here get their first sack of the game last game by the way last time out they had five let's see what this defense can continue to do really need to find a productive play this time on second and long it's a draw nice move to keep moving they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks balls at the 22 third and short coming can the Defense Force him to settle for a field goal looking to throw at sorby just threw that one away to avoid disaster yeah and third and short that choose not to run throw the football and I think a lot of that has to do with they know they're in field goal range they can take the three points on the board and this one splits the upright [Music] after that last field goal Drive they're set to kick it away the ball bounces through the end zone and it will be a Touchback the Pittsburgh offense is back on the field they missed an opportunity to extend this lead the last time they had it Jesse yeah they got to be able to regain that momentum right go back to what was working earlier on in this one David to me that starts with being the more physical team I definitely agree being the more physical team but understanding the situation of the game you're still winning you got the football back now put a nice drive together and execute found that space and picked up six out to the 33 as we reach the two-minute warning they'll need to try to get a stop to keep this thing from getting out of hand will they keep it on the ground again here on third down they'll try to get it through the air fires to the big fella really nice job there to pick up the first down and get it to their own 41 the Panthers come to the line with a fresh set of downs trying to find his man on first down catch in the middle it's Lee that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the stop they're down to the 32 yd line on First and 10 he wants to throw hit hard as he released the ball on that first down pass and it never had a chance it's hard throwing in the pocket man you got bodies and 300 lb dudes falling all over the place they're trying to hit you that time pressure got to him and they forced the incompletion the incomplete pass leads with second down they'll go to the ground finds a crease at the 20 and they'll finally bring him down after he rips off a huge play I'll tell you the defense is going to have to do a much better job containing these outside run plays they better be able to funnel the football back to the middle of the field because this guy with his speed can kill you like he did on that outside Run play there to the left going for six and it's incomplete he was looking to the end zone and trying to get six this defense is going to have to make some adjustments here at halftime because they have been taken advantage of deep down the field in the passing game they've already given up two TD passes that was almost number three and we're only in the first half finds his big tight end he's all the way down to the 2 yd line just spectacular execution there Bo they love to move the sticks here and take a shot at it on First and he Sprints to the end zone touchdown now Pittsburgh this coaching staff was trying to identify Playmakers on offense early this year how about the start of the season this guy has had scored in their first game he scored early in this one defenses up to this point don't have any answers for this [Music] guy lining up to tack one more onto that lead and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further we check in with Kevin Connors what's going on Kevin guys let's get you up to speed on what's going down in this fun college football game today Georgia is on top but this is a close game and you know back in the day you'd feed Hershel Walker and go whole that guy needs to emerge for them today they're up by seven over the pandas we'll Circle back if anything big happens you should know about it thank for the update on that one Kevin let us know when it goes final there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer one of the things I love about this defense is they're so versatile in ways they can get after the quarterback in their last game they came away with five sacks came from all over the place they got the win so you know in this one they're going to dial up a lot of different looks it's going to be tough for this offense try to keep their quarterback standing up straight there's a Timeout on the field tight game here late in the first half you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 and the incom complete pass will bring up fourth down it's so nice when you know it's third and long you know a pass is coming you worked on it all week get your feet set at the sticks understand that quarterback's got to be rushed get him off of his spot nice execution by this defense he gets a block there he goes open it up he just about took that one to the house they finally bring him down but when you have a return like that it pretty much eats up everything gained by the punt they'll run it on first and goal he bullies his way all the way down to the 5 yd line pit pushing the pace scanning the field it's holste unleashes to the end zone and he's got it touchdown Panthers this offense is really dangerous because of the weapons they have on the perimeter of the field and you're seeing they go to these guys early and they try to give them opportunities in one-on-one situations and vertically down the field two passing touchdowns now early for this offense on to attempt the try is on for the extra point and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead they didn't have a whole lot of real estate in front of them when they took over possession but they wasted no time couple of plays into the end zone here he comes from inside his own five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half going with the counter play here really nice stop there from this senior leader one more snap coming before juice boxes and orange slices they go to the counter and he's taken down after a short gain and that'll do it for us here in the first half we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halftime update phas what an inv environment there today all the animosity and Flatout hatred that comes with a good oldfashioned rivalry game on display in that first half an entertaining first half and we've got a multi-p possession lead to break down thanks to the surgical Precision of this offense might honestly take more time to talk about what didn't work than what did the running game the passing game Gadget plays have worked now it's just a matter of finishing the job pit will kick off ready to get things started here in the third quarter on the run from inside his own five and the Return Man is stopped and that'll leave it up to the offense on the next Drive okay so here comes the offense returning to the field got blown out in the first half and now just desperate to find anything to generate momentum here in the third quarter it just starts with one play though you just need one thing to go right for this offense to start to build that momentum and then that becomes infectious for the defense for special teams everything can change it just takes one play it really can and it's so strange and you can't quantify it and I don't know how to describe it as a coach or as a player but you got to make something happen and it's got to start on this drive didn't get much on first down it's second and nine they try to pop a run on the draw they get him at the 42 but he picked up 10 there the Bearcats getting set on First and 10 first they think they can create space here with the run to the right when running backs Square their shoulders up it's when they have the most power you see him Square his shoulders up break tackles be strong continue to plow his way forward just making it really easy on everybody in this offense by breaking tackles going to run it it's prior he is going nowhere sto at the line of scrimmage great job a contained by this defense and in order to do that the end man on the line of scrimmage defensively has got to be able to set the point and force the football back into traffic and that's exactly what he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense fresh set of downs after the completion excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away yeah that was a good play on the ball getting his hand up and getting the tip getting the deflection ball bounces up in the air falls to the ground incomplete pass always a welcome play for the defense as they get a sack at the 47 when it's a playaction pass that quarterback he really has to sell the fake he can't tell his offensive lineman's getting beat right away while he's selling the fake he had no shot [Applause] this will be the eighth play of the drive but a great opportunity for the defense to get off the field on Third and long he'll need to push it down field and that'll be incomplete they certainly weren't afraid to take a shot there and now it's Fourth Down The Bear Cats decide to punt it away he's getting a lot of work fourth time he's punted tonight fair catch called for and made the pit offense back on the field and ready to [Applause] roll the give to the back and they try to run inside and there is nowhere to go great team defense on that R everybody doing their job people winning their one-on ons D lineman staying in their gaps linebackers in DB's fing you just can't do it better got room at the 35 a huge gain on that one before he ran out of bounds and he has the first down yeah this offense has had their way with this defense and they've had a lot of success and I tell you what if this defense wants any chance of coming back they better get physical and stop the run because right now this offense is having their way [Applause] that big explosive play carries them into plus territory they'll snap it first and 10 from just across the 50 touch pass on the Jet Sweep the defense wouldn't let him loose and even though it's in completion they lost yardage got to give the defense credit watching film anticipating they knew that this offense had this play in their back pocket they knew about the speed of this wide receiver and different ways they were going to try to get him involved as everybody on defense on the same page playing together I love it and so many things have to come together perfectly for a screen to work for big yardage and they were closed you could tell that almost busted but they just got wrapped up and the quarterback is snowed under pit will have to boot this one away and the defense finally gets home they get their first sack of the day this is a defense they can pressure the quarterback this is not normal last week they had five sacks so you're used to this defense getting after quarterbacks the Bearcat offense ready to go back to work that last Drive won't go on the Highlight Reel after ending in a punt they'd like to be more productive this time David and I think this offense has to be a little bit more balanced find a little balance between the Run Jesse and working in that pass and I think too David it's just going to take a spark it just takes one play to get this thing picked up and gone they go to the ground Forge is ahead picks up about three to the 29 29 Y and you've already set your punter out four times at least he knows he's going to get his varsity letter and his leg might get a bigger workout if they don't convert he'll be stopped short picks up one but they're facing fourth and one and the Bearcats will bring the punt team onto the field they've been busy out there to punt for the fifth time today he'll get away another punt he's been really active today and no doubt he's going to earn Varsity L this guy is a daring punt return man he's not going to settle for the fair catch a solid return gets a little bit of ground for the offense the Pittsburgh offense is back on the field here's another opportunity Jesse to stretch out this lead after punting last time I think it goes back to your Playmakers reys I think it's F can anyone catch him he's at the 10 touchdown Panthers and the beat down has ensued and to have a rushing touchdown of that type of yardage you've got to be able to make something Miss it's one thing to get into the second level but can you make that last Defender Miss and you saw it on that play once he was in the clear with his speed he was gone ready to try the point after for the extra point and the extra point just TS a little bit more onto this huge huge lead let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Connor Kevin what do you got two very different emotions inside the locker rooms of these teams who did battle today App State overcame a tough opponent and not only that a rockus crow the Mountaineers tuned out all the noise and show this team can win on its field your field or a neutral field well done it's one game you don't want to react too much either way but I think both teams will leave this one with some things to work on moving forward and Kevin Conor is keeping an eye on everything all over the country sounds like they had a good one there the give to the tail back Runing through contact he's brought down but not before they pick up the big first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs they're going to go right back to him on first first down and they tried the middle of this defense and that is not happening got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 motion trying to get the defense to show its [Applause] hand grab behind the line it's prior and they pick up just a few on that completion they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here keeps it on the boot bag looking to throw he's going to let one fly down the middle picked off looking for more room and he is brought down but what a way to finish this quarter with the pick [Applause] [Applause] if you like old school running games this has been the game for you and a couple of guys who starred through the first three [Music] periods back at it to open the quarter with this first down play give to the back and how about the efficiency on that one it'll bring up second and four you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the offense and they make the tackle but he has plenty for the first down well they get another big run for a first down and if you're on offense you love the way your offensive line is B blocking early in this game they're getting tremendous movement and they're making life pretty easy for these running backs right here nowhere to run on that when he loses four on the carry couldn't get him blocked on that last one now it's second and 14 42 spider 42 spider dropping back it's holste oh he makes a catch hard hitting tackle guys out the back field now it's not just run the ball downhill anymore you got to be versatile I got to be able to trust you in the pass game and I got to be able to throw you the football and you can do that right there I know you're going to catch it and I can depend on you he's going to look for a man on Third and short oh they really could have used that catch their physical pass defense it brings up a fourth down it's wise not to be too greedy and they'll go ahead and send out the field goal unit no no good they BL the field goal something finally goes [Music] wrong here comes the Cincinnati offense back on the field after that last pick David they really need to take care of the ball this time no doubt and Palmer I want to know what Spurrier said to you on the sideline after a pick do that again and you'll be right here beside me for the rest of the game you got to go out you got to call your plays and I hope this coaching staff isn't going to be afraid to throw this dri first down here with time for maybe one more play until the two-minute warning and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning he's looking to throw we hit the two-minute warning and this offense is desperate to make something happen and do it in a hurry boy guys they got off to a great start with that big first play on this drive but now a couple of incompletions leaves them in a hole another incompletion on third down the Bearcats will line up to plant it away let's see if he can help the coverage team out with this one able to keep them from getting a return and the ball goes out of bounds they're going to mark it right around the 20 the pit offense back on the field and ready to roll firmly in control of this game we'll see if they just try to run out the clock and get out with the victory everybody on offense here should feel really good about their performance today too they had a really good game plan coming into this one they went out and they executed at a very high Lev yeah lights out and this game's over interested to see the philosophy now do we keep chucking the pill and keep trying to score points cuz it's the defense's responsibility to stop them or they just run this clock and say all right we did enough today we kick them in the face they'll try the run just a solid stop by this sophomore and I'm a fan of this man run the football eat the clock we got the lead this offense has put together a nice day man like just B Rhythm timing play calling everything is worked that's why they built this lead they've had a great day today you know what's great about rivalry games each side hates every wretched breath the other one sucks into their greedy lungs figuratively speaking of course and when you win oh is that sweet it's glorious to to be able to brag to be able to text message your buddies to be able to post stuff on social media it's a lot of fun I think fans like it more than anybody but it's something that every year you have a couple games starred this was one of them Jesse they took care of business and now you move on to the next they really did and we saw some great individual efforts in this game by the winning team too so cool to see some of these players that have had terrific Collegiate careers make some of the biggest plays of their lives in this game in a rivalry game that just means so much this was a fun one to call so that's going to do it for us for Jesse Palmer David poock I'm Rees Davis saying so long this has
