Mets PreGame Show | Mets vs Reds | Mets Game | New York Mets |

[Music] you are now watching the amazing Mets pregame show with your hosts Rob and CP [Applause] let's go let's Go's go let's go what's up Mets fans welcome back to the amazing Mets pregame show right here on both of our channels and on X and OMG what a night us meth fans had with Mark Vientos hitting that game-winning home run in the 10th in and to give the Mets the victory get them to eight in a a row and 13 games over 500 that was probably the loudest I heard City Field in a very long time all the all the credit goes out to Mark Vientos all the the stuff that he went through in this organization never really getting a chance basically behind Brett batty it seemed like he was just lost in the minor leagues comes up does amazing things with the bat and yesterday was the cherry on top two home runs just outstanding performance by Mark Vientos Chris how are you doing buddy and I know you enjoyed that post game last night yeah the post game was awesome shout out to everybody that was a part of it um it popped off uh I'm not sure why I'm not sure how but the post game popped off and it seems like all of our streams are popping off when the Mets are starting to win and everybody wants to talk about it listen this is an exciting time as I mentioned time and time again for us Mets fans to sit here on stream whether it's talking about it on camera with us or just interacting with everybody in the chat it's a great time to be a Mets fan and we are going to continue to talk about this team um unfortunate news that we'll talk about with Jeff mcneel but I do think the Mets can weather the storm even though that's going to hurt a lot um the meds can weather the storm we'll talk about it um bring a little bit positivity because after that amazing win that was kind of a gut punch I talked about him getting hit on the wrist and obviously he was going to go under uh undergo diagnostic testings and MRIs and all that good stuff to see exactly what the extent of the damage was we got the worst case scenario with him being out for the rest of the season um but at this point you have to look at the next man up um this is kind of a similar theme for all of my teams especially right with the New York Knicks and what they just went through this past season it was always me on stream saying next man up mentality and that's exactly what's going to have to happen here at the New York Mets late in September but electric wind talked about it on the postgame the progression from Mark Vientos right not only from beginning of the season to end of the season like you just said Rob but also his ingame at bats his ability to be flexible and adjustable depending on the situation you saw two different two very different at bats from Mark Vientos both resulting in home runs one was a first pitch uh home run in the first inning right to get the Mets on top two to nothing he attacks that first pitch he's aggressive and he doesn't miss his pitch if it's early in the count because what do I always say you cannot as a hitter go down in the count consistently because that's opening the door for the opposing pitcher to throw his whole Bread Basket at you in terms of what he has to throw in his Arsenal and then also in the last inning it was an eight pitch at bat he fouled off three to four pitches extended the at bat work the count I believe if I'm not mistaken it was a two- two count if I'm not mistaken but doesn't matter the the the night and day difference right of those two types of at bats and still getting the same result is something that indicates to me that he is way ahead of his time in terms of being the mature hitter that the Mets need right now especially right to fill in the void of guys being injured and the latest injury being Jeff mcneel so like I said electric win a little bit of a gut punch but I'm here to bring up and lift up the energy because I think the Mets will weather the storm and I think they'll be okay yeah absolutely I obvious the obvious choice is Jose glacius is going to replace Jeff mcneel on the regular now he's going to be the starting second baseman and now we're gonna start talking about who do the Mets bring up to replace that roster spot going forward I know people are gonna bring up Lis an lunia I don't think that's going to happen unless he's going to play every day it's it's just it's just what I think you're on mute buddy oh no I was just agreeing with you I was just agreeing with you that I don't think it's gonna be loose on hell aunia I I don't think so yeah you know knowing that glaus is going to get all all the playing time it doesn't make sense to put aunia on the bench and play him once a week twice a week it doesn't make sense so you're not you're gonna you're probably gonna see another versatile person player that can play multiple positions in the infield maybe got some speed and that's what you're probably going to see look it's it is a guts punch from Jeff MCD played better since the allstar break but at least we got somebody very capable to replace him how many times have we had injuries in the past and we had nobody to replace him I'm not talking about at the same caliber but even like just you know serviceable now we seem like we have those options that are actually good if not better and you know what igus is Gonna Fill that part he's gonna play a huge role just like he already has you know basically platooning since he's come up from the miners for the Mets so it sucks with Jeff MC NE and if you listen to Jeff mcneel um and they says you know is there an opportunity you can rejoin this team Jeff McNeil was like yeah he goes if I rejoin this team that means the Mets are really deep in October and he he smirked when he said that so the only chance that Jeff manil be back on this Mets team is if the Mets are probably in the NLC deep in the NLCS or World Series that's probably the only way we'll see him because a a a fractured wrist um obviously not most likely not surgery it's going to be just healing and rest four to six weeks so if you do the meth it's it's October it's late October so again we'll see if that comes to fruition if in the future but right now we're talking about a game number one of a series that the New York Mets took care of business and listen it was getting a little fishy shman was pretty good you know he left two balls up and he gave up two run two two run homers that was basically it he he looked like he ran out of gas when he gave up that um that second home run to with the tie game andj f yeah yeah I you know some people were a little upset that Mendoza didn't take him out I'm not taking him out in that spot you had a lefty on the mound and you had a lefty at the plate and showman I is your best pitcher you're not gonna take a guy out like that he's basically erased you're not taking him out for re Garrett I understand re Garrett you know um had a big in in him himself but you got to give him Mani a ball in that spot the guy just hit a mistake what do you you know it is what it is right Mani is allowed to have a game like that he didn't pitch bad I think he had what nine strikeouts so he had a really good game you know he could have let he could have unraveled but he didn't and look he didn't have his best stuff but he still managed to keep the game in hand the Mets he never gave up the lead yes he gave up two owns the tie both times tied the game both times but he kept them right it where they needed to be to lead up to the bottom of the tent with the Vientos two run Homer to win the ball game so look 13 games over 500 the Braves did win but we did get in a game on the Arizona Diamondbacks I think we're what a game from them now so again this is the the possibilities this is the the different Avenues of ways to make the playoffs now it's not just the Braves anymore it is Arizona basically falling apart they're not playing well and I think over the last 10 days the Mets gained like five games from the Arizona Diamond Backs that's awesome and listen I'll take all the Avenues we can get to make the playoffs because this team I'm telling you right now this team there's something magical with this team Chris um I I know we watch him every day and I get you know the Padre fans are probably saying that about San Diego you know the the guardian fans are saying that about the guardians but there's just it just feels like this team has the potential to do major damage come October and I know we're not in the playoffs yet but I just feel like they're gonna find a way to get into the playoffs because they're not gonna not let that happen going forward I don't know what are your thoughts about that yeah I mean we say it every single stream this this team does have certain Aura to them right and and we'll see how much of a gut punch this Jeff mcneel loss is because good teams and great teams even find a way to come back and weather the storm and continue to push forward even though one of their quote unquote core players uh goes down um just to say this real quick Jeff mcneel was obviously hitting better A lot better than he was in the first half he was hitting a lot better in the second half he was hitting 289 uh with over a 900 Ops in the second half but like I said just to to sort of get ahead of this I really do think that the Mets and the way they're set up right now and we'll see who gets called up and I I do have my kind of opinions on that in terms of who may or may not get called up but I I do think they will be okay guys I don't think that this is a time to panic and I still think that this team is going to be solid and they have the tools and the strength um to make a playoff push even without Jeff mcneel it's a huge loss don't get me wrong and this is terrible news right nobody wants to see this happen to Jeff mcneel but I do think the Mets will be okay couple things here right one regarding who gets I guess called up right I No No Reservations about what you just said about this team being magical 100% definitely agree with you um a lot of people are saying that DJ Stewart right will be the call up and I think the Mets are playing actually short-handed today with how recent the uh results from Jeff mcneel kind of came back so they're going to be playing short-handed they're not going to be calling any body up today obviously it's it's almost game time at this point we're doing the pregame but a lot of people are saying DJ Stewart's going to get the nod I have a very hard time accepting that and I'd be very disappointed if that would be the case because you already have what four outfielders on this roster especially with Marte back you got Tyrone Taylor on the bench as well um I think it's four outfielders if I'm not mistaken uh and then you have Jesse Winker as well who'd make number five at this point because you got Bader nmo Marte Taylor and and then Winker who can play the corner Outfield that's five outfielders on your roster right there so it would make no sense to bring in a guy that is only gonna be playing outfield for you right you need to bring up an infielder you got at this point Jose glacius is gonna be coming in and taking over for second base duties on an everyday basis I understand that he's a little bit older in age so the I guess notion that he's going to be playing every single day before the playoffs is is not feasible right you obvious got a guy like Pablo Reyes as well who just got brought in uh just recently as well but we don't really think of him as a a spot starter for a guy like Jose glacius right the way the tandem of Jose glacius and Jeff mcneel was working before mcneel went down so it has to be an infielder in my eyes because then you can deploy the Margo round in terms of Mark Vientos Jose glacius obviously Pablo Reyes might be a little bit of a late game substitution at some sometimes but you need to bring up an infielder so if they bring up DJ Stewart it wouldn't make sense to me and it wouldn't be logistical to me it wouldn't make logistical sense to me I see a lot of people saying Luke Ritter obviously he has capabilities of playing Third Base I'd love a Luke Ritter call up I think that's been way past due anyways and I think obviously with the long ball he's been killing it in Triple A last season and also this season I would love to see Luke Ritter get a shot and I think that is a lot more feasible than the guy like Lis luisan hunia if luisan hunia got the call I would also love it because at this point I would like to see what he has to offer especially in a scenario where you know he might be getting semi-consistent reps depending on what happens with Jose glacis in terms of the platoon there but if they decide that he's not ready quote unquote um which I don't really buy into that excuse anyways because I know a lot of people think of luisan hunia or they thought of lisan hunia as some topnotch Prospect right when they got and he is don't get me wrong he is I don't think he's on the level of like a Drew Gilbert who's also coming into his own down there uh in the minor leagues as well with however many home runs in the last 15 games that he has but I really do think that luisan hunia despite what his numbers uh Chris I don't think I can hear you I'm sorry hold on one second nope nothing oh there you go there you go yeah you go all right all right what what did you hear what did I leave off at where did I leave off at um I Heard Ritter and then I heard a little bit more about aunia you lik an aunia a lot you would be okay with that and then so so sorry about that I apologize about that um so technical difficulties on this Saturday don't you love it um what I was saying though is that I think I would love to give Luke rer shot and I don't really buy into the fact that lisan hunia quote unquote is isn't ready so therefore I would like to see lisan hunia as well but at this point between Luke Ritter and Luis hakuno you really can't go wrong at this moment they're not going to be getting right Premier reps that's gonna be Jose glacis and Mark ventos right they're gonna be getting probably spot starts and at this point obviously when Louis San Hill aunia got brought into this organization everybody was like oh he's a top three Prospect in the Mets farm system that has proven to be not true at this point so obviously he's still a top 10 Prospect but why not just give him a shot to see what he does that's my thinking at this point right that's my thinking I don't think it's likely but I will say though Luke Ritter luisan hunia top two in my eyes in terms of who I want to see but it cannot be DJ Stewart you heard the part where I said the outfielders is already crowded on this roster right you heard that part I heard that part it would make no sense to bring up DJ Stewart whatsoever at all like it wouldn't bring it as much as I like uh Drew Gilbert as well and I think that he's also probably ready as well um doesn't make sense it wouldn't make sense to bring him up either so it's just like a logistical thing yeah exactly you know you know what's funny right you you brought up Luke Ritter and I had it ready to go talk ready to talk about it before you brought him up I had it already to go so 100% that that was the first guy I thought of um other than you know Pablo Reyes or something like that I saw Luke R I'm like you know what that's that's a great idea the guy has tremendous amount of power 26 home runs 88 RBI is 262 he's playing extremely well in Triple A he can play second he can play Third basically what you want right now for this team because mcneel can play Third in an emergency he can play second base uh Ritter is not really an outfielder but I think he played right field very very uh small sample size but but he's he he's a utility infielder and that's what the mess in at this point right now and he can provide power off the bat give guys days off um as well you know every now and then and look why not have some more power on that bench and you know listen he's the way his stats are he deserves a call out why not let's see what he got if he doesn't work out you know I think I think it is between Ritter and um aunia and I would be happy with both of them aunia obviously you said doesn't make much sense because you want your top prospect to be playing when you get called up and that's not gonna happen here when you got Vientos you ain't taking Vientos out of the lineup you're not taking a glacius out of the lineup and you're definitely not taking Lindor out of the lineup so where is he gonna play except for maybe once or twice a week but that also to just cut you off for a second I apologize but that also so like Jose glaus is not some young in his prime type of player right now right he's still a little bit on the older side so I'm kind of weary in terms of how often the Mets are going to give Jose glaus off days and if Jose glacia somehow goes down because of wear and tear and they keep on like trying to work him um that's going to be very bad news as well I understand the Mets are kind of in between a rock and a hard place right now with the infield in terms of distribution of playing time especially with Jeff mcneel being out now but I think that you got to at least preserve the legs of Jose glacia somewhat so I'm very curious no matter who it is that gets called up how often they'll be making a spot star for Jose glacius just given Jose glacius his age and how much he's played since he's been called up this season yeah you know what maybe it's gonna be aunia then you know what I'm saying it might just be Louis H aunia only because I'm trying to look at something right now and that's the Avenue that's exactly why I was saying lisan hunia like I know that people are saying he isn't ready but if the Mets don't view Jose glacius as an everyday like obviously he's going to be an everyday star but you have to give him an off in between right so what other second baseman are you going to throw out there I'm pretty sure nobody wants to see Pablo Reyes make that spot start because he's a second baseman obviously he's had some connections I'm I'm pretty sure with David Sterns but I would much rather see Luis on Luna than Pablo Ry is I'm sure everyone would so that's kind of my thought process with that well the the thought process of David Sterns what is he what is he looking for as a as a Jeff pneo replacement on the roster is he looking to fill that Jeff pneo role where a guy that can play multiple positions on the regular like Jeff mcne was doing or is he going to replace his roster spot with speed and versatility when it comes to pinch running you know maybe a spot start here in there but I I think I think that you can do you could be you can have more of an impact with r or aunia in my opinion and and we'll see it's probably GNA be I'm I'm I'm assuming they're gonna not do anything until tomorrow make that roster move because they're playing with a man down today so I would think the move will be tomorrow and I I be I'd be really shocked like I'm gonna be looking at the the Minor League games and seeing um who's not in the lineup for Syracuse uh tonight and tomorrow you know because then you really get an idea of um who's going to be called up and especially the Met are at home you would think they would want to make that move quickly because they head into Toronto after the game tomorrow so you would think they would want to make that quickly so even though Syracuse is kind of closer to Toronto but you know what you know what I'm saying but I I think it's going to be Ritter or aunia if it's DJ Stewart I mean DJ Stewart must got like a naked picture of David Sterns or something because I don't know man because that it would make no sense why carry six outfielders that makes no sense whatsoever you know Stewart can't play the infield I mean he could you know kind of play first base but you not playing DJ Stewart over Alonzo so like this comment right here by Me Easy is golden and this is exactly what I've been trying to say in terms of why I would actually like to see luison hunia be the guy I'm skeptical about him being the guy in terms of the Mets thought process and their kind of uh just just their thinking towards this but aunia has more opportunities to play with mcneel out factual there are games where you play auna at second and a glaus at third factual and then when you want to give also in turn Jose glacius a day off you'll play aunia at second and you'll play Vientos at third as well like that is a comfortable marryg go round for me and obviously you don't really want to see um luisan hunia play Third you're much more comfortable with him coming up and playing second base with this kind of like rash call up but I would love that Margo round obviously I think defensively I'd like it more but offensively as you said if you want to maximize the offensive potential with that quote unquote Margo round you'd call up Luke Ritter I don't think Luke Ritter knows how to play second base though so that doesn't solve the issue of Hose glac is getting his days off like I said with the age so you know what's funny about that if you're looking at uh uh Ritter's uh uh a minor league page a statline they have him as a second baseman how many games has he played there so far this season um I gotta I gotta search for that but uh I'm very curious let me see uh I came I came onto this stream right I came on I came back home and I popped onto this stream right beforehand I saw the the notification that Jeff mcne is out for the season and I was like oh boy I was like this has to be a talking point but I haven't even looked at in terms of I looked at L uh Luke Ritter's offensive numbers but I don't really know whether he's playing second base or third base or where he's playing in terms of distribution so he's played 26 games at third basee 27 in left and also DH and played second base and first base how many how many games had second base though uh 19 okay and 26 in third 27 in left 14 at DH 41 at first base so he can play every infield position except for shortstop I mean he played shortstop last year one time so he's very utility super utility so again it's probably going to be Ritter it's probably not going to be auna again again either one is a good option but it has to be one of those if it's not one of those like I know the Pao Ray is probably like the safe choice I guess but wouldn't you want an extra impact type of player on the bench that is similar to Jeff mcneel if not better and Luis anell aunia and Ritter have more power than Jeff mcneel um aunia got the speed obviously auni can play Third and second r r plays everywhere so so it that it's going to be very interesting to uh isn't Pablo Reyes already on the roster though I thought he was the actual September call them down oh wait maybe they didn't see this this September call-ups just screwed me up with the roster let me check I didn't see what the corresponding move was I know DJ Stewart got sent down when uh JD Martinez got up on uh off the paternity list here recently but I looked on fan graphs before this stream started and they still had Pablo Reyes on the actual roster the 27-man roster so if he's already on there then they already have that covered but still I don't think you can go with another outfielder so okay right now yeah R he's on the roster right yeah so okay so it's got to be Ritter or aunia if it's DJ Stewart it absolutely makes no sense it it would really make no sense that that that that's just uh that would be a bad call for um by uh Sterns in my opinion so yeah I like I say now now now I'm like I can't wait for the call up like I can't wait for the move the roster move obviously it's going to happen tomorrow most likely in the morning or even tonight after the game just so we can uh you know they can get them here in time before they head off to Toronto so you know it's going to be interesting you know it sucks that Jeff Neil is not here but we we have quality options that deserve to be up here like they've been playing well enough from Ritter and aunia I'm talking about that deserve a call up and maybe one of these guys are lightning in the bottle right because they replace mcneel on the roster they're playoff eligible as long as they're around the 40 man so you know how like you just bring these kids up or bring up somebody on as a September call up they're not eligible to play in the postseason but because you're replacing a guy that was already on the active roster on the 40 man and was a starter and was on the roster prior to September 1 that player that's replacing him on the roster is eligible to play in the playoffs so that's another thing Ritter and aunia would be available in the postseason if the Mets make it so that's another aun would have been aunia would have been already because he was already on the 40-man roster but I don't think Luke rder was so but when did they put him on though I think he started the season off on the 40-man roster well that would suck so we'll have to wait and see about that uh but um it will be it's going to be very interesting again we know we have a game today we're trying to really talk about it but it is a very interesting topic because I know I know a lot of people that heard the Jeff McNeil news was like all right who are they bringing up and I know everybody talked about aunia because that's like the you know the shiny new toy that we have in our on our Prospect list but you don't hear about Ritter from a lot of fans unless you do your homework a little bit and and again you know not trying to toot our own horn a little bit but both of us were [ __ ] Ritter of prior to even thinking about aunia because of the versatility which we both didn't think that he had that much versatility I mean he plays no I did not he plays everywhere like he played what 70 80 games this year 85 games this year and he's played everywhere in the infield except for catcher so he even played a little shortstop so he actually can play anywhere and he's providing a hell of a lot of power and I wonder if see the the only thing that I can think of why they would choose DJ Stewart is because of the stupid left-handed bat regardless of his position because we are losing a left-handed bat but man I I really don't care aunia Ritter they're better than DJ Stewart I mean maybe they won't be at the major league level we don't know that yet but give give one of those guys the opportunity right all they can do is either perform or don't and it's not going to make a break this team because if they're not going to play well when they call up they're going to be on the bench or sent back down so they're not going to you know hurt this team and be that impactful on the negative side but if they come up and do their job and actually perform the impact is gon to be positive so I don't I think there's there's nothing to lose it's a win-win situation in my opinion right you get if it's aunia me fans get the excited about liso aunia right wouldn't it be cool him getting the start tomorrow getting called up and getting a stand in elvation from the city field crowd that would be awesome but we'll wait and see what Sterns is going to do to fill Jeff mcneel's roster spot so we got Jose canana Chris on the mountain today I know that's like a o you know type of uh scenario but sometimes when we kind of throw Jose canana to the Wolves he finds a way to throws a pretty good game and we're like oh okay that was a pretty good St from Jose canana what is your confidence Lev level today with Jose canana on the mound it's not a very very potent Cincinnati Reds offense but they do have power in that lineup as we saw yesterday what do you what do you want to see from hose canana what are you what are you looking for with his line for today's game as we always say just give me five competitive Innings please just give me five competitive Innings that's all I need out of Jose kintana tonight um by the way has anyone checked the weather is is the weather looking okay for this game to start apparently it's a little uh uh rainy or cloudy one of my one one of the subscribers are at the game today he sent me a video yeah it's a lot it's cloudy it's very cloudy and dark so hopefully we get the game in today yeah hopefully hopefully we get the game in but um to your question Jose kintana is you never know what you're gonna get with him man it changes on night night and a night out basis that's why it's so hard to predict um Jose kintana statline that's why I asked you all in my live chat poll how many innings he's going to pitch today because it seems like he's good for like four one game and seven the next and there's a lot of wiggle room there in between but um I'm weary because we saw what happened to Sham maniah yesterday and that's one of my points that I was gonna uh make while we were talking about the whole sha manah start from last night is that he pitched very well he pitched very well um he made two mistakes for two two-run home runs to ell Cruz and TJ Fredo that kind of burned him a little bit but he was spot on in in the rest of that start and I believe as Ethan was mentioning in the chat he was gonna get out of that inning and he hung uh I believe it was sweeper or it was a breaking pitch to TJ Fredo and he knocked out of the ballpark like one mistake right and as soon as he was almost getting out of that inning so it was a good start and it's a little bit of a deceiving start because he's got nine strikeouts he had the put away pitches going he went six and two3 he was one pitch away essentially from getting out of that inning and providing the Mets with a competent seven Innings so like I said very deceiving but that's what we talk about when we talk about this Reds lineup and before yesterday in the pregame before this series started that's what we were talking about with them is that yes they're not going to knock your socks off they're not the most talented in the world but they have guys that can produce runs and they will take advantage of mistakes if you hang pitches to them and that's exactly what they did to sha manah last night for their four runs so that's kind of where my confidence level with Jose kintana dwindles but you would hope that Jose kintana knows what's at stake right you would hope that he's able to bring out his veteran Savvy because I know we've had conversations this whole season surrounding Jose kintana and you have liked him in the past because he does have that veteran experience and don't like him as much because he's inconsistent hopefully he finds more consistency here over this stretch in this long haul because the Mets are gonna need him right as soon as Paul Blackburn comes back Tyler McGill presumably gets the boot and Jose kintana is still here so at this point you got a ride with the guy and you just hope that he's able to provide you five quality Innings right we're not asking for Perfection we're not asking him to give up zero runs that's not feasible we're asking him to allow this offense to hook and keep them in the ball game and in turn Jose kintana keeping this offense in the ball game it's kind of like uh a hand inhand scenario between the two sides of the ball so the pitching staff has done a tremendous job at that everybody's done a tremendous job at that maybe with the exception of Tyler Mill's last start but even then at that point right it was still a close ball game at that point so because the Mets obviously had a grand slam first to go up in the first inning but David Peterson sha manah Luis srino right like these guys are producing quality starts now we don't have any sort of uh I guess lack of confidence in those guys right on a night and N Out basis but when it comes to a guy like Jose kintana Tyler McGill the back end of the rotation and I think Paul Blackburn still has to sort of prove it to us but we're a little bit more confident in Paul Blackburn than in Tyle Mel obviously but we are we need to see that from the back end of the rotation and as long as that happens right if the pitching keeps this team in the ball game I've said it multiple times I'm very confident in the other aspects of this team in terms of the offense and the bullpen and that should equate to a lot of wins down the stretch despite having a hard schedule so we'll see it's time to go out there and do it I know that the Reds were undecided in terms of who their starting pitcher was going to be yesterday when I did my post game it seems like it's going to be Jacob junis I believe he was a former San Francisco Giant and the the Mets have seen him at least a little bit while he was in a giant uniform so um a amiliar pitcher and hopefully the Mets offense are able to use that at their advantage and provide uh Jose kintana some cushion because I think that he's really going to need it yeah absolutely and listen canana is basically at this point of the season a Mets rotation guy number four possibly even a number five and what do you expect from number fours and number fives look around baseball and you shouldn't expect anything more from a fourth to fifth starter when you get those starters in the ball game this is what you got to get you got to get a quality start where you don't blow up in the middle of a game where you give your offense no chance leave the ball game with a tie game lead or at the very least down a run or two to give your offense an opportunity to win the ball game that's what I expect from a fourth to fifth starter like a Tyler McGill like a Blackburn like a canana those guys I expect them to keep us in the ball game keep us within distance if we're TR or even better if you leave with a lead even better the best news we can get Jose canana just do that today because I'm confident in this offense that they'll find a way to win the ball game regardless of the circumstances but don't give up six or seven runs in the first couple of innings and expect the offense to come back you can't do that you can't have a meltdown five innings two or three runs shoot I'll even go five in three or four runs I'll even take that because I'm confident that this Mets offense is going to score runs and they've been they've been clutched they've been finding ways to win games even when they're not having their best performance didn't the other day against the white SS we had like 15 strikeouts and yet we beat them I know it's the white socks but usually when you have more than 10 strikeouts in a ball game you usually don't win those ball games so Jose canana just give us an opportunity give your offense an opportunity to win the game right don't have a melt on the mound pitch halfway decent five innings three or four runs and I'll take that right to the bank and that's the key for Jose canana we can't think of anything more than that if he does better than that great we'll take it and run with it but I'm not expecting that at this point right now even though he is a veteran sometimes he finds you he'll have a gem we'll see but as of right now he's pitching like a fourth to fifth starter and I can't expect more than what a fourth and fifth starter usually gives you in baseball nowadays and that is a pitcher that is going to give up runs not gonna go deep into the ball game you just hope it's not a complete breakdown and he gives up a tremendous amount of runs and the offense is fighting back the entire game his change up is something that I'm gonna look for in terms of actually him utilizing right because when Jose kintana is utilizing the change up in a in a correct manner that's when he's at the top of his game and the same thing can be said for a lot of pitchers in this league right um but the change up is something that I think that if he gets across and he has command of on a night in Night Out basis that's when you can kind of tell if he's gonna have a good start or not and if he's not leaving pitches up in the zone it's okay to Chase or change the hitter's eye levels right but when he throws 91 and 92 92 miles per hour with those High fast balls hitters can turn on it so um that's exactly he's got to be methodical is what I'm saying saying right especially with the lack of velocity he's got to be methodical about his locations he lives on the outside corner um because notoriously that's where a lot of hitters especially if they're pull happy struggle so if he's hitting that outside corner consistently and utilizing that change up in a correct manner then I like what I see and I will in turn probably see good results out of Jose kintana but if he's not then it's a different story and shout out to Ethan in the chat as well by the way shout out to everybody in the chat like I said if you're part of the post game yesterday it sucks that you weren't able to be a part of it Rob I know you got called into work late I know things happened but the chat was popping last night everyone's excited I was up on stream excited so shout out to you all for being here shout out to you all for being there last night please hit that thumbs up for both of us on both of our channels and both of our streams because obviously if you don't know if you're on my chat Rob is streaming to his chat and then vice versa Rob's chat I'm streaming to my chat so um or Channel I should say but yeah 100% and shout out to Ethan as well uh informing us that the game has now been delayed so that sucks that's not something I did want to hear at all all right well well I guess I'll be watching a little bit of college football um until the game start but yeah look Jose canana also needs a Little Help from the Umpire too he needs those those like you were talking about he needs to hit those corners and he also needs to get those those those balls for a strike he needs those calls for a strike he needs to get those uh those a little bit off the plate calls that the Umpire would would be nice to give him if he gets uh some generous calls it will help him extremely a lot in this ball game and look that change up look when he was going well about a month and a half ago his change up was just Unstoppable I mean that was his putaway pitch we always talked about that you talked about it a lot when a lot of these pitchers they didn't have the putaway pitch when canana is going well it's either his Cur mostly his change up is that putaway pitch and he'll spot his fast ball on the corners if his change up is not working he's going to have a hard time because you know what they're GNA be sitting on that 92 91 992 miles an hour and it's not going to be a good day for Jose canana so Chris just said it it looked like it's going to be a little bit of a delay uh for the Mets games who knows when it's going to start but um you know we we'll keep you a little bit a little bit longer just to you know keep on going we haven't really discussed the lineup um as much because the lineup has been doing what the lineup should be doing um I guess we'll get to it now Chris because like this is similar lineup from yesterday right one through six acius as well Alvarez Bader is the only one and mcneel obviously is not in the lineup but Bader is the only one that was in the lineup now uh so again what do you expect from this lineup I mean it's no breaking news here but what do you expect from this lineup this deep lineup and I think one of the deepest lineups in baseball I'm expecting to put runs on the board I I love like we mentioned yesterday about um JD Martinez and the flexibility that this lineup now has in terms of putting JD Martinez lower in the order right um JD Martinez is having to his standard I think it would be fair to say a subpar year but even with what he's producing it's been pretty good it's been pretty beneficial for the Mets right you're talking about a 250 average just around with about 16 home runs he's going to get to probably 20 if I had to imagine or close to it which is great and he's got about 65 RBIs I would imagine he's goingon to end with like maybe 70 75 RB when the season is all said and done and that's not the production that he had last season but that's some production that I would take all day long in terms of being a supplemental piece to the rest of the guys in the lineup and you have the flexibility of moving him down with the way that Mark Vientos is playing now one thing is for sure and two things are for certain Pete Alonzo needs to get his head out of his ass right I'm so sorry I want to give pet Alonzo praise and props and he has been I guess hitting the long ball a little bit more frequently recently and that is always going to be present with pet Alonzo but some of the at bats again on a consistent basis and yesterday was more of the same it just does not look good it does not look good and it looks like he's guessing he's chasing Ron Darling himself right on the broadcast even said the main reason why Peter Alonzo is struggling right now is that opposing pitchers no for a fact that they can get him to chase out of the Zone whether it's with a fast ball up and out of the zone or whether it's with the slider and on and it's a shame that he has set that precedent because these opposing pitchers if they know that they can just change the eye level throw him a high fast ball and even if he lays off of it come back was something soft on the outer third of the plate maybe even two or three inches off the plate and that he will swing at it if he's got two strikes because he's up there trying to protect yeah not good not good and I don't want to say it's a lost cause Rob but like I'm seeing a really a really bad pattern here like he's gonna get his home runs nobody's denying that he's gonna put the ball over the fence especially if pitchers are making mistakes to him because pitchers do make mistakes but there's no incentive for these pitchers to throw base balls in the zone in the heart of the zone to Pete Alonzo and if they do hopefully he makes him pay with it but for the most part they're not going to do that and they're just gonna live on that outside corner and even a little bit beyond that outside corner because they know Pete will swing at it and that's something that is just beyond infuriating for me to watch in a consistent basis and I know I I probably triggered the Pete Alonzo brain movements of your of your mind right now Rob and I know there's going to be a rant so I apologize to the chat but I had to I had to say it myself I had to say it myself because I was sitting there watching those at bats um especially that at bat where he kind of broke his Bat I'm not exactly sure if that was yesterday the day before it doesn't really matter when it was it was bad at bat and um the frustration level on pet Alonzo's face and his mannerisms in terms of just like being frustrated out there breaking his bad after he strikes out the little sigh that he does after he strikes out and looks up into the air it's noticeable it's noticeable and um I how many times are we going to sit here and hope for him turning it around and and saying and getting out of that rut how many times are we going to sit here on stream and talk about well maybe this is the game that pet Lonzo gets going and like before anybody says anything we're not here like I personally do not want to sit here and talk about pet Alonzo in this manner I would love to talk about and neither would you Rob I would love to talk about pet Alonzo mashing the baseball and being a competent hitter that I know he can be but for some reason right whether it's the confidence or lack thereof whether it's the mechanics whether it's just like something going on with his eyes that's not able for him to pick up the baseball out of the pitcher's hand I don't know it's bad right now it it's it's still it's still bad so we we'll see what happens I guess yeah this this is not gonna shock anybody about uh pet Alonzo and my do process I'm done with him I'm I have no faith in him at all and I hope to any God you want to hope to or pray to I hope he actually shuts me the hell up and goes berserk the last couple of weeks and has a great playoffs if the Mets make it but he's shown me nothing he's shown me signs of a coward at the plate with runners in scoring position I'm I'm so sick of it like I have no faith in him look if the Cincinnati Reds were in a playoff race right now they would have walked Vientos for pet Alonzo yesterday and we probably wouldn't have had the pet the Vientos walk off why in their why in anybody's right mind would you piss Dev Vientos when you have Alonzo up who can hit a beach ball right now he is absolutely garbage with Runners and scoring position he is a problem in the middle of this lineup like I'm sorry I'm I'm sick and tired even said it too Rob the booth said it they said that they would walk fenos in favor of Pete Alonzo and you know what I love Ron Dal I love Gary Cohen I love keend all those guys but they were also the problem for the majority of the season they were doing the same thing the fans and the the the the the beat reporters were doing they were kissing Peter lonzo's ass they were giving him any excuse in the book when it was obvious this guy tightens up in a big spot he's done it his whole career I don't care what anybody says look at his stats with runners in scoring position throughout his entire year and don't give me the stats on the months when the team is absolutely out of it go back to the months where the the months mattered and the Mets were in some type of race or they still had a chance of a playoffs like 2022 where they were going for the division look at the numbers from pet Alonzo not just his individual numbers but look at the overall stats that actually mean something like runners in scoring position those are a problem it's his entire career his whole stat line with home runs with RBI are so flawed it is embarrassing that a lot of methin finally took so many months if not years to realize about this guy he's not not a superstar he's a borderline star if that anymore he he has become a guy who is an average player that has power you know how many guys that do the same thing in baseball you're not special and and that's the sickening part about it because I was fighting with a lot of my fans for a while Chris you were on a lot of the shows we did round tables for two years now basically you know for a fact that I've been talking about this for a while and it's not that I don't like Pete Alonzo it never is the case I want him to be a career met I want him to be the five the hit the most home runs in Mets history hit 500 home runs as a New York Met i' love a career met but I'm not gonna continue to you know kiss his ass like the boot did for many many many years and these uh prior a couple months before they actually started talking about it when they actually started to put the stats on the screen about pet Alonzo they did not do that from April all the way into like July they started to do it in August or Late July so finally everybody's coming around about pet Alonzo that his numbers are very skewed and they're misleading just because they look nice you got to dig a little deeper and realize how poorly he has been in the big moments when games and the months actually mattered for this team not when you're 30 games out not when you trade everybody and your mother at the trade deadline and you're gonna give me August and September stats that mean absolutely nothing that's the problem with pet Alonzo hopefully he can still prove us wrong like we can all look like fools in the next couple of weeks where he just goes crazy but we've been saying is for four months now it's getting ridiculous now and now it's all in his head now you can shave your beard you can shave your mustache you can go clean clean shaved you you know what shave your [ __ ] head shave your pubes shave your chest I don't care do something but it it's getting ridiculous now like you're looking like a fool all right I know baseball players are superstitious I was superstitious when I played as well right when you know when things were going well I would wear the same baseball socks like I would be that crazy right but when things are going well I would you know have the high socks I would you know I would do all types of crazy stuff I understand that but I don't know if Pete is overworking himself in the cage to get right he just needs to calm down at the plate because you see him he's already swinging the backat before the pitchers even throwing the ball like you see him fidgeting you see he stepping in the bucket he's already out in front of almost every pitch the the the balls that he hits are that out of the ballpark are usually um breaking balls that just speed up his Bat or he's in a favorable account where he'll be looking for a fast ball because he's become a complete guess hitter and if he guesses wrong he is looking terrible at the plate so Peter Alonzo let's go like I don't care about your contract I know you do I don't care about your contract I'm very very on board with you not being a met in the future so you know what make me look stupid make a lot of meth fans that turned on you looks stupid because did you hear the groans when pet Alonzo was striking out with Runners on you heard that City Field groan you never heard that when Peter Lonzo was at the play you hear it now right and he's start look he he is so used to everybody having his back regardless of the situation and now he's not getting the biggest cheers anymore Lindor is Vientos is not pet Alonzo it's not that very very you know loud you know uh Peter Alonzo chant or just a loud cheer when they when he gets introduced at the plate it's a huge difference now when people are expecting you to fail you are not the the ray of sunshine of these Mets of bands anymore in their eyes so not right now you are the problem and you are the biggest problem in the middle of this lineup if you don't get it together I mean i' I'd love to say the Mets can go deep into the playoffs but how much better could this team be if Alonzo actually have a pulse like it's frustrating it's that's the frustrating thing about it too and I know that and like we are not naive to the fact and I just want to make this very clear to everybody that's listening here in the chat like we are not naive to the fact that there's other guys in this line of struggling right Alvarez is struggling Bader for the most part recently he's had a good season a very good season more than I expected him to have but recently he has been struggling but look at where those guys are in the lineup and you can even say JD Martinez has been struggling too because he's had some pretty awful swings but look at where those guys are in the lineup particularly Alvarez and Bader versus where pet Alonzo is there's a handful of times especially in the last couple of games where pet Alonzo his number was up and there was opportunities for him to drive runs in I'm not even talking about right uh a runner and scoring position with two outs because that's like a clutch thatat right there he's also horrible at it and the numbers reflect that this year and last year but just Runner and scoring position less than two outs we're talking about less than two outs right and and he can't even come through so it's starting to become a very bad pattern and the statistics behind your clutchness and your ability to hit with horns scoring position those are out there like we can all research that and we can all see that and we are seeing and the broadcast is making it to come uh making it come to light as well that you're hitting 210 with runners in scoring position that might even be lower now after the last couple of games and it's just not good it's not good so we it's not like we haven't seen Pete Alonzo be successful with rers and scoring position a handful of times especially over the last couple of years we've seen it out of him we just haven't seen it consistently and especially not this season and I agree with you Rob I agree with you and my I guess hopeless optimistic mind that pet Alonzo still has the chance to prove us all wrong and go on a tear and fortify and solidify this middle of the lineup because if Peter long is hitting the ball well right not even lights out but just well that one through five primarily is very dangerous very dangerous and obviously I'm not talking about nmo as well because I think he's also been struggling as well but we talk about nmo definitely deserves some criticism as well because he just has not been putting together competent at at bats either but Pete Alonzo is when he's on the impact that this team will have in my humble opinion like you just said it'll take us from an already good team to a team that can make a push for a division with how many games left against the Phillies at worst at minimum a two or or one seed wild card spot so that's why we're always just holding out hope for pet Lonzo to go on this tear and solidify this middle of the lineup especially with how Jesse Winker over the last what 13 14 games has been playing has been swinging the bat and as well as Mark Vientos he's been an absolute tear 24 home runs on the season so like it just like those two guys on either side of him sandwiching him the whole talk was give pet Alonzo some protection right that was the whole talk and honestly at this point Jesse Winker JD Martinez behind you or JD Martinez behind you for the most part of this year I you can't make that excuse anymore nope pet Alonzo has done has been all on him and it's unfortunate to see and I'm not doubting that it's not his talent level that's not kind of coming up big for the Mets he does look like he's pressing out there he does look like he's stepping in that box nervous like you mentioned Rob I see it as well with the mannerisms like I said when pet Alonzo is up there and his Approach at the plate and the way he steps into the box it doesn't it doesn't look natural like I know when pet Alonzo's on everybody here has seen pet Alonzo performing at the top of his game and the way he's conducting himself on the field right now does not scream confidence to me so I'd like to see that turn around um I'm gonna cheer this guy on because right now he's in New York Met and we don't know what the contract negotiations are gonna are are gonna hold this off season but bottom line is is that he's in New York Met for the next month at least right right of the regular season and we're going to need to see this guy perform if the Mets want to go to where we think that they could potentially go and that is get into the playoffs one and then after that you always say this once you get into the playoffs anything can happen and maybe go a little bit further than that which would already be a win at that point so it's frustrating it really is and I really didn't want to sort of end this stream talking about that but it's something that everybody if you haven't already you might be sleeping under a rock I don't don't know but yeah every everybody's eye should be on pet Alonzo in terms of what he's doing on an at bat to atat basis yeah you know his season I mean it it wasn't as worse as conforto's contract year um but it it it's it's seemingly looking very similar where the guy turned down a very generous offer prior to the season like conforto did thinking that they were going to get a big pay day after The Season's up any off season and who knows what Peter Lonzo is going to get it's going to be a fascinating offseason for the Mets and Peter Lonzo and where that's going to go but again we're 141 games into the season we got what 21 to go we're look that's it it's three weeks of baseball left for the regular season the Mets are tied with the Braves a game and a half away from the the Diamondbacks and I think they're three three and a half from the the Padre the Mets are right in it they're definitely uh have possibilities of making it not just with the third wild card but other wild card and possibly further reach is the division but right now Jose katana's got to do his job this lineup's got to do their job today is the day we win a series you win the series today tomorrow we talk about the Sweep with srino on the mound right if you can win this game with Jose canana on the mound we're g to be riding High into this post game and just a little break news here uh pure adrenaline Sports John is also gonna join me and Chris on the post game today so it's G to be um three of us on the post game hopefully talking about a Mets win and you know this is probably going to be a cool routine for a lot of us again the Mets Community is growing the Mets Community is a lot of fun right it's always great bringing more and more people together especially Mets content creators together and look that's what we're trying to do here we're trying to get everybody on board and me Chris and John are going to hang out with you guys uh after the game whenever that might be because it ain't gonna be seven o'clock anymore most likely uh it'll probably be a little later so Chris any final thoughts uh before we uh close this pregame uh well Juan is saying here with the Super Chat to you I think he says Pete might uh sign a one-year proven deal like srino and Manaya and I absolutely agree with you Juan 100% % like I think that that could be and let's not forget everyone talks about Pete Alonzo he's got a qualifying offer waiting for him from the Mets I think that if the Mets can't figure out an appropriate long-term solution they're G to slap the qo on him because even if he walks they get a draft pick in terms of compensation so they're gonna do that to Pete Alonzo at the very minimum a lot of people forget that and I just want you all as we approach the offseason closer and closer to know that at worst you'll see Pete Alonzo back on a qualifying offer but if he doesn't want to take the qualifying offer and some other team is going to be out there um giving him a long-term contract or maybe a three or four year deal and he wants to take the security okay at that point he walks you have more flexibility in terms of not tying up that kind of cap space you have a lot more flexibility for David Sterns and then you can go ahead and get that draft pick compensation in return so good point as well and um I think people just need to keep that in the back of their mind but other than that I don't really have anything else I'm not satisfied Rob I'm not satisfied eight wins I'm not especially as long as the Braves win ball games I'm not satisfied I want nine there's no reason to lose right just like last night we said it on the pregame there's no reason to lose this game against the Cincinnati Reds albeit you had your better pitcher on the mound right win nine straight we're gonna be buzzing on this post game just like I was buzzing on the post game last night very excited to do the little uh Trio post game it's going to be broadcasted to all channels this is awesome love the Mets content Community um and it wouldn't really be anything without the support of everybody in the chat whether you're in in Rob's chat or my chat and I just like every single stream I want to make sure that you all know that we are reading these chats we are we are trying to interact with you all as much as possible while still maintaining the conversation amongst ourselves here on the screen um but we definitely appreciate the support in any capacity and thank you all from the bottom of my heart again for 900 plus subscribers the post game did uh very good numbers last night and I finally got to 900 plus subscribers now on the way to 1,000 subscribers and that will be the ultimate Mark for me um I do this for fun right we don't get paid doing this like I at least I don't I do this for fun but it's awesome to see the growth of the channel I've been doing this for about what a year and a half now I want to say ever since the start of last season in 2023 and it's been an amazing ride the people that I've met um have been awesome right everybody that has been on screen with me and also just everybody in the chat like even if I don't know you personally it means a lot that you're here and listening to Austin listening to me so I definitely appreciate that on that note right I'm gonna pour my heart and feelings out onto the stream obviously right in celebration but um yeah let's win us a ball game that's the bottom line yeah absolutely so congrat congratulations to 90000 and now you're on the road to 1K and listen I know the struggle I know it's a lot of it's a lot of work people don't realize how much work goes into it prior to the stream you know it takes it takes a lot of time out of the day to do these backgrounds do these streams set them up and all that stuff it's not easy so I I I do appreciate where Chris is coming from because I was there not even two and a half years ago so I completely understand what he's going through It's a Grind It's a Grind and Chris Chris Goodwin is saying Where was the post game last night it was on my channel so like I said if you guys do not subscribe to me at cpny sports subscribe to me and if Rob's never ever not available if John from Pure joural and sports is ever not available I'll probably do a solo post game and that's exactly what happened last night because Rob got called elsewhere so make sure you hit that subscribe Button as always uh because I got I got you guys covered if anybody else can and vice versa if I can't if I'm on vacation or whatever if I'm not here Rob will do a post game without me as well so that's kind of like the working the working uh I guess dynamic between us yeah um what I should have done see I should have never uh dropped my stream because I think what happened was people just thought there wasn't a post game if they weren't subscribed to right right so from now on even if we're not available we're gonna we should leave it on we should actually put it on our channels as well just so everybody knows where we can find it because if obviously if I'm the only one there or you're the only one there and it's on both channels you can tell everybody to go El go on the channel That the person's actually speaking so it would be easier to interact and actually people who are not subscribers could pop onto that channel so we'll do that from that one because I it was my fault because I got called into to work earlier than expected and I just deleted the stream and it kind of made a decent amount of people for my stream didn't even realize there was a post game so that's on me not on Chris um he had a hell of a post game yesterday uh Chris I'm sorry you missed um I'm sorry you missed it but make sure you subscribe to Chris as well because again we we're going to be doing a lot of these shows especially in September and hopefully a lot with John as well so again guys definitely let's get a win let's get another Series win let's go to 14 games over 500 and nine game winning streak is on the table today whenever this game gets started we will be doing a post game me Chris and John uh whenever this game is over hopefully it ain't you know 11 o'clock at night but we'll be there I promise you that so with with that said guys everybody thank you for tuning in to another amazing Mets pregame show enjoy your day enjoy the Mets baseball when it starts let's go Mets let's go for nine in a row guys see you later tonight go Mets [Music] he
