the podcast you are about to listen to is one of the many podcasts that is part of the college huddle the largest fan-led college sports podcast community on the internet fan-made fan driven and fanfueled the college huddle who he has trouble with the snap and the ball is free okay next question I'm a horse football coach right now you know I got shoved up up sh got [Music] shed we are 25 days until Michigan kicks off ladies and gentlemen welcome to the Spartan Savant it's Nikki Here season two joined with my two esteemed colleagues Trav and Willie how's it going today Willie uh man it's uh well first of off it's great to be back on the uh on the airwaves with you two uh I've missed you two uh missed youing the show um but uh of course it's about the time of year where I'm getting that uh that itch for football um I'm ready to go uh like you said 25 days out um so close uh obviously we got preseason getting going but uh I know all three of us are are itching to see uh what the Spartans can do with with the new coach and then a lot of new faces which we'll get into but uh happy to be back with you with you two and uh just uh can't tell you how excited I am for the season to get going hell yeah how are you V yeah man I'm good getting uh yeah you know getting ready for the season I can't wait for kickoff you know hopefully we win more than three or four games this year that'd be nice but you know Beggars can't be choosers I think we can can try to win more than six games I I think that's a pretty fair request reasonable request so today we are going to be breaking down the roster a bit going over the offense defense uh some new guys freshman transfers and some of the old rotational uh guys from last year returners who contrary to popular belief don't suck so we'll go over that we're going to go ahead and uh we might talk a bit about Jimmy and Michigan sanct that drops today and then we'll close with Miss the vest before we get started though I do want to ask a quick thing about Football starting so the lions are playing tomorrow preseason are you guys excited for that at all because to be honest I really don't care the with the preseason you know it's it's preseason nor normally they're all on national TV eventually so I'm like yeah sure I get to watch the lions at some point but you know now which all that matters right now is week one against the Rams yeah I mean I'll watch the game um I wouldn't say I'm excited uh you know I'm always uh you know I like to tune in see what we're working with but um you I feel like this year there's not a lot of uh who's going to play where not a lot of question marks going into this uh this season so kind of like TR said it's kind of like uh all I start on week one but the biggest thing just want to stay healthy um you know I want to see go make a couple passes uh want to see J start to break out a little bit uh hopefully we get to see some of that uh we've been hearing some great things um there's a couple guys too that I've got my eye on but uh outside of that you know watching specific players you know I'm certainly not too concerned about any results or anything yeah they need to they need to figure out the number three receiver situation um and then I doubt GF plays much if any during in the during the preseason if I if it was me I wouldn't even play him yeah I would agree but that uh I would love to see henden hooker in some action he's someone that I would have my eye on one guy to watch on yeah yeah yeah that' be that'll be fun to watch I do want to clarify I am extremely excited for the Lions it's just the preseason game tomorrow yeah a first drive and then all right let's we can do something we can wait till week one but anyway back to the Spartans um so I was going to just start off talk Talking a bit about our offense so Travis uh any guys you have your eye on or just anything about the offense General you think is important for our viewers to know well I mean obviously we've got Aiden Charles coming in everybody's looking at that and then start you know starting quarterback you got the two running back tandem now there's huge turnover in the running back room but you still have Nate Carter there and then you add in a guy in Lynch Adams who ran for what S500 1700 yards for UMass last year I mean that's an accomplishment anywhere but it's definitely accomplishment when you do it for UMass um and then you you're just looking at who could step up at receiver got Gates Jr sitting out there Foster um they've been talking a lot about perich at tight end so those tight ends should be better hopefully what I really want to see is how the offensive line shapes out because that has been abysmal for the past couple years luckily child's mobile ability could probably get around it but you only really know who two of the starters are right now so I be looking out to see how they do and how that uh how that shuffling Works throughout the season definitely definitely will you got any thoughts yeah I Trev uh hit theil on the head with the offensive line um you look at the names Brandon Baldwin senior Luke Newman senior Tanner Miller Senior uh Christian Phillips rard sophomore Ash and lepo rord sophomore so as a you know the group as a whole when you look at the each individual player they there's definitely some experience uh what they don't have is experience playing together um I don't know if that's G to take time uh hopefully you know in Camp they've been working through that but um I'm a big believer um you know especially in the Big 10 especially with kind of offense we presume Jonathan Smith wants to play they going to go as far as the offensive line will take you and the quarterback and receivers are a huge part but if you can't block up front um you know you're G have trouble running the ball and as we saw last year it's going to cause a lot of problems on the offensive side um specifically when you don't have a lot of those you know Superstar receivers I'm talking about Keon Coleman um uh um what's the other guy I'm drawing a blank on um Jaden Reed yeah Jaden Reed that that that aren't gonna create separation or or aren't necessarily you know Playmakers on their own but um I think the offensive line is the biggest thing to watch here the receiver room uh is a little light um I mean monor Foster I think is is is probably the leader in the room there um Geron Glover I think show has some signs of uh being a good player and we've seen some flesh from Antonio gase Jr but not too much um obviously you have Nick Marsh and we'll get to him as uh New Impact players uh not to jump too far ahead but um you know the receiver room was another one to keep an eye on I think the running back room is pretty much set I think I like what we have there I don't have too many question marks same same thing on the tight end side um but my biggest thing is just that offensive line how they're going to gel together um because that's I think that's really where we're going to need um to Excel on the offensive side agreed um I think one thing uh with a run game too in the offensive line is last year I mean Nate Carter was essentially our entire offense I don't I can't even remember who we had what Jaylen Burger we had QBs who just were not even close to being good I feel like having carry on Lynch Adams like he he will take so much off nck harder that like yeah he'll be much more effective and I just think two backs who just are taking like absorbing hits will should positively impact the offensive line just they might be able to I just be a little B better there when we have guys running further not just getting two yards every game every drive and obviously you got to think Charles will be better than Kon Noah Kim yeah and Willie M Willie made a great point about the the passing game you know they the quarterbacks and the receivers need time to get open and get on the same page our quarterbacks didn't really have time to sit in the pocket and wait for guys to get open and we don't really have the guys in the receiver room at least that we've seen on the field that can uh create separation with their speed alone so that's going to have to be part of the scheming in the offense um and so I mean that's another reason why the offensive line is going to be a huge part of this team yeah one thing I do think that we got to mention that is going to be it it has to be an improvement no more Jay Johnson I mean y that it's not a like one win I think Iowa is the only team that has a better upgrade just because they don't have to watch they were worse than us true technically yeah yeah from a play calling perspective I just think overall offensively the I think this team will have an identity I think it'll be clear what they're trying to do um they'll have a clear a clear uh like I identity is really the best term I can use in terms of what they're doing what their goal is what they what they want to do you know setting plays up um so much of the time last year I just feel like random plays were being called and lots of shotgun uh run plays with long delays in Back Field uh I'm hoping that we can get away from that um in as we move into this uh new coaching staff yeah and it was it was like they didn't uh they didn't really look at their opponents they were just calling the same stuff all the time try to see what worked yeah very onedimensional yeah just basically explosive play or three and out yes Y and I think Jonathan Smith we haven't even mentioned the tight ends yet like that might be one of our biggest strengths I think that's Belling yeah that's one of the most improved areas for sure I mean we won't have a we won't have a former kicker playing the second tight end spot that's it's a win right there yeah that's true yeah two par and Ving I mean Ving um you know I think that was a huge get in the portal um you look at the success he had at um Oregon State and just coming in knowing the offense having a tight end and a quarterback that both know the system um I think well um for both Charles and and Belling yeah and I think I think I've mentioned this a couple times in previous shows but V's much more at least from what I've seen looks much more fluid than Malik car did so that would that be a nice uh Dimension to add to our offense a little tight end that actually moves instead of just a big hulking guy to I mean every everything everything they threw his way was basically throwing up a 50-50 ball so it'd be nice to have somebody that can get actually get open in that spot yeah the Mel Tucker 50-50 offense that's what they called it ex that they really ended up being like 2575 on a good on a good night on a good night yes yeah but uh yeah one other thing too um about oh yeah lack of Jay Johnson we do have like just great it seems like great position coaches too I believe coach M he didn't he win the award for like best assistant coach or tight ends or or he's the offensive line offensive line coach like but I think our tight end Coach too he was like an honorable mention for that award yeah he's a he's an accomplished guy and uh I think one of the big things that was brought that was part of him joining the staff was he was one of those guys with the the Midwest Ties That get the recruiting and you could see that kind of um in the in the way that room's built out right now just a lot of lot of a lot of tough and tough and Tumble guys or whatever um they're just you know they're they're they're football players they're they're big and athletic and they they can they can block they can go down the field it's pretty much what you want in the tight ends and I think he's bringing that kind of mentality there yeah I think that's one thing that's not probably being talked about or um thought about when people talk about Michigan State nationally is the upgrades not only at specific positions but in the coaching room as well um yeah you know coach M um the tight end Coach I'm trying a blank on his name uh wnc yes that's right wnc uh coming over you these are guys that are very well respected um you know they were they were good good gets for uh Jonathan Smith to bring over um you know and that's something that um you know people tend to overlook um I think it's easy to look at Michigan State how many players they've lost um but I feel like not enough is being talked about the upgrades that they've made in most positions um you know tight end and offensive line being one as well um you know it's easy to focus on all all that's going out but I feel like not enough being talked about um again on the on the additions uh and the coaching staff too I mean I I think the coaching staff has upgraded every every single position um across the board um whether it's tight ends offensive line defensive line or defensive backs yeah forg quarterback spot too though even even with even not even just childes but the backup quarterback Shuster is a accomplished FCS quarterback so that could come in handy if God forbid we have to turn to him you know we have some some kind of um some kind of previous experience in that room outside of our starting quarterback and that's something that's been missing for a while yeah I mean childes is pretty mobile too so it wouldn't be crazy if he gets like a little he like get go out for the rest of the game or like go out a game or two in a season so just having that there it's nice to have a quarterback that isn't just oh we're gonna lose this game yeah that's very nice I agree yeah have the dark board or not have the roulette wheel going and figure out who's starting right yeah one thing too that we forget is that like some of the returning guys are actually pretty talented like they were all we had a ton of fourstar recruits under Mel uh couple of them left but a lot of them who were freshman sophomores are still here like we got ston ra who we got hurt apparently we've heard some good things about him too so I don't think he's gonna start but I do think he could be in the rotation it might not be like again a horrible falloff like we've been seeing the past few years agreed agreed it's a great Point yep yeah I mean I do think I do the wide receiver room is just a class Pro it room here but uh I guess kind of going to receivers new guys are there any new guys uh besides childes um or just even returning guys who you think could be just big time impact guys this year Al start with you Travis uh Nick Marsh Who start there he's I mean he's just a freshman but I mean like you said that's a provent room anybody could emerge from that and just like you know last at the end of last year we were calling for you know I don't care if they're a senior just put the best guys on the field he's one of the epitome of that probably the you know the prime example on this team um and he just from everything they show he just looks like a dude and that's the kind of guys that we need out there um we mentioned Gates Jr before you know it's a returning guy but he's you know they gave him number one they and that's not a number that this program takes lightly the the best guys wear that number um so that's you know one a guy that we've been waiting to step up who hasn't really hit his potential yet uh who could hit there this year um if everything goes right and Willie mentioned Glover uh alante Brown seems like a guy that they've been uh putting a lot of trust in he had some turnover issues last year but if he cleaned that up he's got a lot of speed um that could really change things for the for the offense and then you know we've talked about the running back Duo and yeah um I mean that's pretty much what I got on the off I I think the the running back the third running back situation will be interesting to see but other than that yeah that's what that's my look in the offense yeah I think the receiver was probably the biggest question mark in terms of what we're going to get I mean I know there's a lot of guys at least if you look at the projected depth chart right now the starters of on Tor Foster Jon Glover alante Brown they're all returning players and they've all seen a lot of time last year um I just think with the quarterback play we had last year and the offensive line play and how the offense was running I I don't really know what we have with those guys um you know a lot of talk about um Nick Marsh obviously and and Antonio Gat Jr I'm I'm is someone I'm excited about um the the newcomers I've got my eye on are the tandem of Luke Luke Newman and Tanner Miller specifically Tanner Miller probably going to start at Center um this goes back to just my uh the weight I put in on the offens line success uh driving the offense success um if you look back at the Michigan State years that um you know where they were you know owning the Big 10 um and even 2021 under Mel Tucker I think the offensive line was was a strength um you know you might not have known every name on that on that uh on that uh unit but there was something we didn't have to worry about necessarily um and I know Kenneth Walker in that 2021 year probably uh hid a lot of uh short potential shortcomings um but it was something that certainly didn't catch our eyes uh when it came to offensive line so you know those two players uh specifically Miller is going to probably start at Center uh really am looking for him to be a leader he's gonna know the system coming from Oregon State he was uh all Pack 12 last year he might have been second team All-American I I can't remember um but he's a serious get serious player uh and Luke Newman was I think one of the top um top transfer offensive lineman coming over so those two guys I feel like if they can uh you know they can get that offensive line room going uh be leaders and uh really have that unit take a step forward um and not be uh a concern I think that the that really opens things up for for All The Playmakers childes uh Carter and and all the receivers really uh and even and even more so tight ends I that's going to um just be such a uh a unit that we have to rely on um especially in the Big 10 uh against the teams we're going to be going against so um that's those are the two that I've got my eye on in terms of um impact players uh that are coming over that are new um on on the offive side of the ball and I I got a couple more to add real quick just on as on the the running back note the freshmen are going to get a lot of chances between tulis and Frasier with nobody with no third guy there so no question those guys are guys that could in back too I good in the spring game yes he did yes he did from the highlights y from the highlights yeah you know you you never know how much to take away from a spring game but I haven't seen a freshman run a running back let alone a freshman running back perform that well for them in a while definitely you guys want to move on to the defense or anything else on the offense break out under under the radar prediction I think we've probably all kind of hit on that already um so yeah let's move over to defense all right so again Travis let's start here what are your thought what are your some thoughts on on the defense as a whole yeah I mean well it's obviously been a problem for us the past few years that secondary has been terrible and torn apart didn't really get a ton of pressure on opposing quarterbacks and obviously we've had a lot of shuffling on the defensive line umec especially at that D Tackle Spot with Harmon and Barrow going down um transferring out strengths obviously the linebackers where probably could go six seven eight guys deep which is crazy but there's a lot of guys in there especially transfers um all have different skill sets so um yeah I'm looking forward I think like we said with the receivers position I think that dline is going to be a pro it position group this year um especially with the the uh the scheme change and then I think we've added some uh some good good guys to combine with the returning guys in the secondary that should make it a little better than it has been at least and you know that's that's what we should be hoping for at least yeah when I look at the defense I think it's one of those things like my entire mindset is how can it be worse I mean we talked about uh quite a bit you know last year and even the year before uh you really the past three years is just the amount of times that there were players just wide open running down the middle of the field or you know on the sidelines with nobody near them um it's one of those I just can't imagine how it gets any worse um I think Trav hit the nail on the head the defensive line is a bit of a tossup there's been a lot of turnover there um we lost probably two of our better players on the the defensive line I think that that's there's no way around that that's definitely a hit to the team um but would you look at what who they replaced him with I mean I think that there's um some some workable players there um you know in the defensive back field uh for what it's worth they looked a they looked to get better as the season went on last year um and I think they're bringing back a good uh some good names there um we look at the defensive backs and adding a corner in Ed Woods I think is certainly going to help out as well U but I like the rolling with um you know uh Dylan Tatum Malik Spencer I like both those names um I think that they'll be all right um you know we've got some leaders out there uh so it's one of those things I just cannot picture up being worse but the defensive line uh certainly similar to the offensive line uh very much a toss up and um we will go as far as they can take us in my opinion yeah I I think uh Dylan Tatum moving to safety would be really big for him I think that's better fit for for where he was than that outside corner spot last year greate one thing too I think hon there are a lot of things why I think our defense will be better um an obvious one is Joe Rossi um he's better than Scotty Hazelton yep uh Minnesota's had great defenses the past couple years with them um another thing is that I think having the lack of Jay Johnson and just having better QB play and just someone to take the load off of Nick Carter as much and having that we'll have more third Downs so we won't you'll have the defense on the field less so they won't be GED by the four quarter so many the fourth quarter last year like if Ruck like Ruckers Iowa like maybe if they aren't as tired they would have won those games who knows yeah that ruer game especially because the defense was on the field for like the entire fourth quarter yeah yeah yeah that's a great point and we got uh and the players because obviously our defense got a little better through the year besides Herman and bar who it is really hard to say they weren't our two best players by big long shot last year the other the three best that I could think of were Jordan Hall Jaylen Thompson and chance Rucker who were all true freshmen so we retained all them I guess Jaden Mangum but I mean he went to Michigan like I don't think we want that guy like I do not consider that a loss I would I'm glad that we got Malik Spencer instead of Jaden mango but I mean you got to think everybody's so young like that sophomore that sophomore step's got to make somewhat of a difference with better coaching as well um but it just seems like a lot of guys in the defense too seems like more of the leaders of the team are on defense right now might just be because they're older like maveri Hansen uh Chris Bogle apparently he's been a huge leader in the room that might not be a good sign um but uh the but the younger guys Dylan Tatum Jordan Hall um they're going to be huge for us Big Time leaders agre I think do you think Ed Woods is gonna be like yeah a godson for us he was one of I didn't realize how good he was like he was one of the top guys in the the oh yeah yeah that's another thing where I think the national people nationally speak about Michigan state is being they're overlooking this a little bit when you look at the Players we've added I mean people are speaking very highly of Jordan Turner um and also of Wayne Matthews um again I feel like no one's everyone's just focusing on who we lost it's easy to look at someone transferring to Michigan a starter transferring to Michigan saying oh you know Michigan state must be terrible but when you look at you know the players that we're adding it's not like we're adding nobody's um you know people that we're adding are being very highly uh spoken of so again it's it's a it's a unit that I can't imagine being much worth much worse especially with guys like Jordan Hall uh Tatum Jr Malik Spencer chance Rucker getting a year under their belt another um you know another summer of coaching another uh you know fall Camp of coaching um and with the defensive line it's just to we'll see I really don't know what we've got there um depth certainly not going to be the strength of defensive line unlike the linebacker room um but it's it's it's a group that had we have added players um and you know I don't think that the players they've added are nobody's either so um you know Dand quandre is dunan yeah quandre querias yeah yeah karus done again I think these are serviceable players I don't think that they're going to come in and be terrible um so again you know I don't totally know what we have there but um I'm excited to find out one thing too I just realized is we did we didn't even mention Cal Halliday like yeah we we mentioned the linebackers as a whole we didn't really mention anybody individually Jordan Turner Matthews H but he was the guy who we'd always bring up was like oh yeah he's our guy like he's the guy we're turning he's a great and he's just kind of like he's not an afterthought but like we have other guys who we can bring up too I think it shows that some what the talent has gone up in the room because again a lot of these guys were pretty talented like they're fourstar recruits y yeah and halliday's been our leading tackler the past three years even though last year was his bad year but then then then you know you get reports in the spring that he's better shape he's quicker I mean hell I'll sign up for that fine yeah yeah agree it's so crazy some of these guys like Maverick Hansen and Cal have both been like four coaches that's crazy sad a little bit but yeah for one so yeah they they've gone through this is their third era of Spartan football in yeah five years that's off to them and now they will be the ones who us that's right run it back who are some uh vest who are some impact players that you think uh for this year in defense any yeah well uh well you want impact or you want under the radar those are two very different things why not why not both okay okay well I'll go uh impact obviously you got hallay Hall Turner Matthews basically the entire linebacker group um the Spencer I think uh what's call um I'm drawing like Ed Woods is gonna be an impact player I think Jeremiah Hugh is gonna be an impact player not necessarily a starter but a depth guy the guy that brought in from LSU uh eventually start but they probably got some guys ahead of them uh um you know Tatum Spencer um on the defensive line I think that the switch in the defensive scheme for to have like a a standing Rush end instead of the guy hand in the dirt that could help Chris Bogle a little bit uh be a little bit more like what he was playing in Florida um and then we haven't talked about Jaylen Thompson or Ken tally yet those were our starting defensive ends at the end of last year but both seem to have B in pretty good um and have a lot of potential and then a lot of talk about Alex v sumon on the uh defensive on the defensive line on the at the D tackle his brother was obviously one of our top linebackers of the Bel Tucker era so you know if we can he was a and Alex himself was a four-star recruit Big Time recruit so if we can finally get something out of him like we've been expecting all along that'd be great um and yeah I think my under the radar players would be those defensive tackles you got van sumon you got uh the Big Worm Jaylen Satchel the Big Worm forgot about big do uh so there there's there's a lot of guys there that could that could contribute we just don't have the sample size yet in college football games to really know what're getting out of them um but yeah and obviously uh I think Justin dens and the Freshman uh corner is also a good under a radar guy to look at too cannot believe that guy ended up on our team that wasn't surprising I still don't I still I still don't like I'm not gonna believe it until I like see him something good happened for us what yeah I I mean Trav pretty much named the entire defense for impact so uh I think Ed Woods uh probably the guy that I think gonna have a h huge impact um me a talented player coming over to a defensive backfield that could really use uh some some some experience um and some Talent uh under the radar I'll go Jaylen Thompson um probably not as under the radar as maybe others but um you right now it has him second on the 2 deep behind uh dunan uh but I think I really liked we saw out of him the last couple weeks last year uh I think he's poised for uh to make a pretty big uh impact um this year as a kind of an under the radar type player definitely I think uh well I will say that are the guys that I named are all guys that need to have an impact I don't know if they're I guess that I don't know if you would consider all of them impact players but if they're all Impact players that's awesome that that that that that would be great I was I was just yeah I just got I got caught rambling about how uh how they need to guys that need to step up I guess was what what more I was approaching that definitely I do think uh I've heard I'm glad you mentioned Alex Van summer because yeah we've heared some great things out of him and I was because he was basically hurt the past two years I was nervous he would like play yeah same here that's good um Chuck Bley on the team that's nice's he's gotten very familiar with transfer portal Works he's had his moment already let get a shot I will always love him he had one of the best moments in M history but he he loves this he he loves spending time in the portal he does um I think for impact I just think Jordan Hall is not is the obvious one he's we're stupid for not saying that I mean I think that's I think his leadership as a whole is GNA General and I guess under the radar you know what people might not call him I guess nationally under there I'll say chance Rucker he was pretty good last year as a fresh big step and yeah I think that's yep yeah I really I really think coaching is going be just the big difference this year all around yep I agree espec especially on that defense I think they I think they've approved at every position over there I would agree if they didn't that would be a little scary one thing too be real scary Ryan eki sophomore punter he's looks he was legit last year we love we are a great punter school oh yeah if they don't work out we just make them a tight end that's right y and uh Jonathan Kim returning also hug huge Indiana solidify the position yep yep that God that Indiana a 2022 game I really me just oh man if we don't have any games like that this year that would be so awesome I'm just gonna pull it out of my mind and just get rid of it yeah yeah that's that was a scary one like just imagine like imagine if we lose to Ohio State by like 14 how of that'll be yeah that be a good start that's where we are now but uh only 14 be be awesome but um I guess besides that is there anything else on the defense that uh we didn't talk about no I feel like we covered everybody yeah yeah you're welcome so you know I think uh that's the case it might be time to have a little bit of fun here here um so some things came out about um James Harbaugh uh the former coach of the Michigan Wolverines um the NCAA they dropped their sanctions um for his recruiting violation over Co this isn't the Conor selan thing it's completely different it's uh when they broke the covid violations to get JJ McCarthy on campus and uh some other recruits as well or also as a cheeseburger um I just think what do I it's tough to know where to go with this because I could go on for hours um I think you guys probably out too just I guess like what do you think let's start with Winston here what do you think should happen what do you think will happen well I think takeing the con stallion things aside you want Conor stallion thing or no we can we can go back to that but I I think just looking at whole cheeseburger incident like I guess I don't know it's like it sounds to me like the issue necessarily wasn't what they did but it was how they handled the investigation they didn't want to cooperate and then you had coaches telling players to delete texts or what I I I'm so I don't even know sometimes I feel like I'm just combining everything I don't even know what's part of what and what's part of the other now but it sounds that they didn't want to cooperate and I think that starts from head coach down maybe even athletic director down uh at this point Harbaugh's gone he's got the whole show cause thing now that if he ever comes back to college football between now and 2028 he'll be suspended for a whole season um you know that would be that's basically his third suspension in a span of 11 12 11 12 months um there's an obvious disregard for doing the right thing or following the rules uh within this program um I don't know if they've gotten it all out now uh all I know is the head coach now shiron Moore was part of Jim Harbo staff when all this was going on uh so I would like to see the team experience some of this punishment the coaches that are still there have to deal with this uh I mean it's easy now to if Harbaugh's the only guy that really gets the punishment I mean he's got an80 million contract with the Chargers this is nothing to him or the program uh so you know the this whole thing I it's I think it's I didn't even know recruiting violations were still a thing to be honest with nil um so you know it's kind of a nothing Burger to me for lack of a better term um I'm I'm waiting to see what comes out with the whole stallion thing I don't trust the unseeable to do anything serious um but at some point this the team in general needs to be punished uh because there's on the staff that were part of all this whether it was the recruiting violations or stallions thing um so you can keep throwing things at Harbaugh but eventually none of that matters if it doesn't impact him or the coaches that are still there so you know I'll wait and see until more comes out uh but you know I I can't I can't even keep up with all the violations and the sanctions and the uh tier one violations tier two violations that that these guys have been going through honestly for the past 12 months yeah um I mean totally agree like at some point you have to punish the people that are with the program I mean not not just handing off punishment that's not even GNA be seen as a punishment is just not not a not a punishment at all I mean yeah that tracks I guess um so like you think Harbaugh actually gives a [ __ ] about any of this right now no he's got he's sitting there sitting pretty probably doesn't even intend to be back in college football for the next four years if ever so like you're you're I saw a pretty good analogy of it was it's like a high school principal handing down a suspension or telling his graduating senior that they have detention so I mean that's it's it's not something that's going to affect him at all I mean it's basically like if the sanctions with if the sanctions coming from the other investigation are anything similar I I guess would be the best way to put it um then they they're getting away with cheating basically the whole thing and um I mean he's hit with violating recruitment rules unethical conduct failure to promote an atmosphere of compliance uh violating his responsibilities as a head coach so I mean it's not it's not as severe as some of the other things that they've been accused of doing or proven of doing but at the at the end of the day you still got to you still have to punish the the parties that were a part of it and you know the program is basically getting off scott free y so here are my thoughts um I have a couple things written down um so I have a take I have a prediction that come the end of the season Chiron Moore will not be the coach of Michigan because I think he was set up to be the Fall Guy because I do think I it's kind of because he's has he's had multiple violations too it's almost an act of defiance I feel like for Michigan to hire him as the head coach and I think that basically they knew they were gonna have to do something to like show like that to be affected after Harbaugh lefts they're gonna say okay fine we'll fire Chiron like we'll do that I think that's going to be what then doing I do actually think there may be vacated or forfeited wins involved um whether that matters or not whatever um I just like that it I just like that they that everything's out that everybody kind of knows how Michigan just wasn't chill with har the past years but um the uh yeah I think they might because a lot of people are saying it is a Witch Hunt because they're out to get Jim Harbaugh which is just that is just true like they to get him they're out to get him like how the US military was out to get Osama Bin Laden because like he like Breaks the Rules and just like rubs it in their face like he kept rubbing it in everyone's faces talking about how he's moreal yeah that's going to annoy the NCAA and I do think the only way to really bother him because they can't do anything to him now like he's not coming back to college like that was never his intention the only way to really do it would be to tarnish his legacy and to be like hey those WIS aren't here anymore like fish like on our and it literally it is basically like nothing like in theory they still the memories and everything but that might be the only way the NCAA could like get under his skin if that's what they're trying to do yeah and I do feel vind I do feel less schizophrenic now that uh Conor sellens has been uh confirmed on our sideline confirmed yeah oh yeah it's so funny like reading all the reactions to like oh it's just about not cooperating with the investig um I mean they're pretty much proved that that you cheated um I mean they're they're accessing hard drive and they're the I think one of the funniest things is they the Co all these coaches that when the allegations first came out when they were asking about stallions they're like the question would be like you know what kind of contact you have you had with Conor stallions or what you know how what do you know of Conor stallions they'd be like who never heard of them and now they're all no 52 text messages you never heard of the guy like right it's it's very clear it's not like they were yeah deleting text messages is a pretty big uh sign of guilt I I would I would think yeah like if one of you guys had like some like I just doing insider trading and I had no idea I would not delete any text from you I would and if if the FBI was like here let me see your phone but yeah I had no idea yeah sure I got no proof here yeah yeah like yeah like refusing to cooperate why would you refuse to cooperate that's that's their smallest issue now too yeah it's just that just goes back to where I think from the top down they obviously don't have a respect for the rules or the NCAA um yeah they just that's a program attitude where you think you're above yeah they think they're Above the Law yeah they think they're above governance yeah I do love it when they're like how they how some of them just get mad they're like they're like you know you guys could like why did you guys have to catch us it's like what like that's not really a reason to get mad yeah yeah yeah yeah I think from a Michigan fan perspective the frustration should not be aimed at Michigan State fans or Ohio State fans that are calling this out the frustration should be aimed the coaching staff that cheated when they had no reason to that was a program that had everything going for them they had the talent they had they had everything they needed they probably didn't need to spy on other teams to win games or you know you know the recruiting violation you know that's one thing that's something that probably a lot of teams could get caught for uh but a lot of teams would probably just uh you know go along with the investigation and not try and you know rub feathers because in the end what they did was probably not that big of a deal but it makes it a bigger deal when you don't want to cooperate you know that's that's where it all comes down to so you know I get if you know the shoes on the other foot I I get why they were reacting this way it's probably the way I would re act but the the anger is Mis is Mis is Mis aimed they should be mad at them mad at their own coaches in my opinion it's not uh this is a bed that they made for themselves one one thing I just have to I I have to notate and I think you guys will definitely agree here how is Ward winning these Awards the year Deep Pockets Deep Pockets well first of all um I'm not gonna I'm not gonna make any personal jokes about him but I mean it's just like have scandals it's if you go week without a scandal it's like a world record yeah Jaba the Hut Manuel must have some dirty dirty stuff on some pretty important people because yeah there's no reason for him to be winning any awards as an athletic director no re their basketball team I mean jeez exactly there is abolutely no reason for him to be winning any awards he let's not bring hockey into this I mean I guess you can bring that coaching situation like they have things going on like their other sports too like they terrible it's it's unbelievable that anyone would give him any award related to directing an athletic program or you know personal physical fitness uh you know I mean maybe G no peace priz he stays in bed so he doesn't cause an earthquake by waking up mean that was mean do us all a favor but no seriously I mean that's that's the face of their athletic program I mean geez yeah I mean alen heler looks like he could beat somebody up yeah Ward Manuel looks like he could beat up a pizza that's about it change the Michigan fight song to [Music] just boom Bo little Palace could just be called The palet jaa's Palace oh I mean it's true F no I mean he's fat let's just let's call SP Spade he's a big guy I'm I'm a big guy this is the pot calling the kto black but I'm not the athletic director of a a big time football program or major athletic program but I mean your point is I think is so solid Nikki why is he winning any awards why was he ever on the college football playoff committee why why do anyone treat him with this respect like he like he is somehow this uh amazing uh you know by the book athletic director I mean this is uh is concerning he should not be anywhere near any award or any college football playoff committee or any college football committee that had that that is important in decision- making yeah yeah just it's and if like I would be so annoyed at if I was a Michigan fan I'd be so annoyed at Harbaugh making those comments on Monday like never lie never cheats that's is like hypocrite please just stop it just sounds so it sounds so bad and I mean the thing is he doesn't care like what's I mean it doesn't matter to him so he can honestly say whatever he wants yeah it's not going to matter but like to me it's just it's it's so terrible it's such a black eye for that whole situation they should be talking about you know returning n reigning national champions you know they should just be focus on the football and what they did last season but instead you know they have to talk about this yeah or just don't like or they should just not care about the te like just right any other most program that's the way they're going just like yeah you're right like yeah like leaning into it have them like make jokes about stallion like don't be like no we didn't do anything like getting angry yeah yeah you're ridiculous if you think they didn't do anything wrong I mean it's literally been proven it's like if if we won the national title the Kenneth Walker year and he killed someone I would be like hey at least he at least he want to something like hey he killed someone like yeah I I i' I would still be in a euphor I would not be so defensive about it yeah yeah yeah agreed so I mean I guess I feel like we've we don't need to go anym on fim harb we there's gon there's we talk about them'll be say there's be a whole another conversation when that Netflix thing comes out and then when they actually come down with the penalties so much more that I did see a tweet from the uh the U ofm University Library I think it was when they announced his uh his suspension or whatever they said in other news Ted kazinski is not allowed in our building okay that's funny that's great that's actually PR funny all right so if we're done with that it means it's time for everybody's favorite segment the music oh yeah ladies and gentlemen it's Miss the this that's great that was good the first time I've seen that that's good I haven't showed you that one yet I don't know I thought I showed both of you that a while ago yeah that was good it's the first time we've gotten to use it that's great all right so for the for the new season with the transfer portal I thought it would be a nice quiz on some new faces in new locations so what I'm going to do Travis I'm going to name the player um the school they were at and tell me where they are where they are now and there all people are trans this year and there will be a bonus round with a different topic right after that we can get into but right now how many have we got uh it's 10 or 11 Okay so first one the number one player in the portal uh the Alabama player Caleb DS where is he now oh [ __ ] I I know this one this is going to kill me because I'm not up to speed with any of this um Caleb Downs Caleb yeah I'm this is not good Ohio State University okay yeah next one um Walter Nolan number two player in the portal he was at Texas yeah that's what I was gonna say he was at A&M feel like I remember something about Auburn there I don't know this is not a good this is not a good category Nikki I'm gonna miss all of these is that your final answer sure it's all mess okay so I knew it was one of those SEC ones yeah see this is this is going to be something we're going to have to cut from the episode next one oh dude it's not publishable I'm getting all of them wrong sure it is [ __ ] Ken proor of Alabama where did he transfer he one point it was Iowa but he kept going back and forth but I'm going to that's right baby yeah that's right next one um was one of the top quarterbacks um I'll give you I'll give you a gimme Aiden ches from Oregon State oh gee I don't know Michigan State yeah all right next one um from Washington State the other pack 2 School cam Ward where did he end up uh he is at Miami that's right yes and now the uh I believe was a true freshman festar quarterback uh Brock Vandergriff from Georgia where is he now [Music] o I don't know but I'm gonna ah Kentucky yes yes that came in that came in at the last second next one another quarterback um ACC from Duke Riley Leonard uh Notre Dame that is correct the North Carolina to Notre Dame transfer pipeline next one um a very disappointing quarterback Kyle McCord from Ohio State he's at Syracuse that's right um here is another one um Ed Woods from Arizona State Michigan State that's right um Miami's old Miami's old quarterback Tyler van djk oh he ended uh Wisconsin that's right yeah two more um these are going to be old faces that we used to love uh Derek Haron where is he now uh he is at Oregon and Malik Carr Houston that's right so you were you only got the first two wrong yeah I only missed yeah it wasn't it wasn't it wasn't starting up very well it was all hey only matters how you finish right now I have one bonus I have one bonus round question or topic um is very topical it is mcaa violations there are two questions the first one what school had a had a bull ban in the year 2012 at had their 20 Time season vacated including their Sugar Bowl victory due to players getting tattoos oh Ohio State that's correct and the last question what this is actually a different sport it's basketball what school had the largest at the time not anymore um I think that could have been overtaken by Michigan um Michigan football who had in basketball the biggest cheating scandal in the 90s that started with a car crash started with a car crash the okay the car crash is how the evidence was found in the 90s uh oh [ __ ] who did he coach um was it UNLV no no I'm sure fun fact one of the players in the car was matin Cleaves on a recruiting visit to Michigan it is the F okayo largest I was I was thinking a completely different coach gotcha the largest coaching SC the largest cheating scandal in sports until Michigan took him over again yeah yeah well that's that's you did you did well throwing me off there Michigan took him over yeah took over themselves 30 people yeah yeah that that made me think it wasn't Michigan when you said he took over yeah I was between I was between Michigan and UNLV and you said they took over Michigan so you're Michigan pure evil well well for that that will do it for us today uh thank you everyone for for listening I'll thank you Travis and Winston for being here and one last thing go green go white white [Music] [Applause]
