Texas vs Colorado State Preview and Predictions!!!

all right everybody this is Nash here and I'm ready to talk some Texas Longhorn football with y'all and the season is here the 2024 Texas Longhorns are about to play this time tomorrow I will hopefully be just now getting home cutting up that every play as quick as I can and getting that out to y'all I'll have that I'll have that for youall as soon as possible tomorrow know that but if you a score prediction while you're down there I'm going to go ahead and break down the game give you a little bit of insight onto what callado state who they're going to be bringing in they got Jay norell we'll get to hear him in a second former Texas wide receiver coach so again I'm just going to be previewing the game here give you a little bit of prediction and then uh I mean if you see this video there I'm I'm probably already live or I was live last night go check that out but again we're going to go through that and yeah hope you all enjoy the video and as always hook him let's get right on to it all right so now like I said uh we got sneezes coming up right now all right I'm gonna leave that in there but now that we got that out of the way uh here we go we like I said you got Jay Norville he's coming back to Austin Texas used to be a wide receiver coach under Charlie Strong he then left 2017 and took over the Nevada Wolf Pack 3 and n as you can see he took them up to eight and5 then they kind of stayed an 8 71 team underneath him that's for for Nevada that's a respectable like that's respectable right there uh you know you're not you're not asking of the world for uh from Jay norell and he gave them probably what they expected gets hired at Colorado State to kind of do the same thing and you see a little bit of an Trend upward under Jay norell in the second year of Colorado State maybe they're able to get that done in a third year who knows we'll see uh this is the depth chart going in to the colado Jake game and this here is from our Lads football uh they're pretty accurate sometimes one or two things will be off especially early in the season so nothing concrete is going to be out but that being said a couple names that you need to pay attention to uh Tory Horton we're going to get to him right after this Armani Winfield he is a former Texas recruit you may have that name might jump out to you we tried to recruit him Texas he went to Baylor uh ended up transferring over to this year this is his first year for the Caro State Rams something else that stood out to me they got a very veteran offensive line graduate transfer at the center position senior transfer Drew Moss at the Right Guard left guard they got a junior transfer left tackle they got a uh senior transfer as well and I mean really if you look at it Aaron carass car Caris I don't I don't know how how you pronounce that name but Aaron right there red shirt sophomore he's the only that I'm going to call him an underclassman right here because he's Tech He's listed as a sophomore but he's in his third year so they are a pretty veteran offensive on group or at least they they should be uh tight end another senior really if you look at it the young the the youngest guy out there is Armani Winfield and Justin Marshall those are their young youngest guys on offense so I expect to I I well at least you would expect to see this probably less mistakes from the colro State Rams early on uh on defense it's kind of a little bit more of the same a little bit a lot of grad transfers in there a lot of seniors Jack Howell going to get to him in just second uh he figures to be a big part for the colado state Buffalo Colorado State Buffalo Colorado State Rams they're not the Colorado Buffalo so moving on here we'll go to the overall statistics as you can see the Texas offense like this is just when you're comparing the statistics of each of the individual teams man it's just it this is a situation where if Texas is playing a close game versus colado State there's there's probably some issues that will rear their ugly head later on down the road so this is this is Def definitely a game where I mean the the stats just kind they kind of say they say everything that it needs to be said uh Texas Texas should be able to handle this very easily now rushing statistics this is another thing that jumped out to me they don't run the ball now it's easy to do when you got Tory Horton on your team out wide you can see a pass play they they pass the ball fifth most of and that's not fifth most attempts but that is on a percentage basis of the plays that you call in a game so but they also did as far as passes per game go that that stayed fifth most now they also didn't have their quarterback sacked so the offensive line last year was pretty good uh hopefully we can see our defensive ends get some pressure against that offensive line that will mean a little bit of a something if we can do that but this is a team that is going to pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass now where that can be notable is Texas could have a great game Run defense-wise and it could we could get a little bit of a false ah I'm trying to think it's on tip of my tongue right there but we we get a a false impression we could get a false impression on it's not the word I was looking for but we get a false impression on maybe Texas looks good against the run but really they aren't as good and that will be something that will rear its ugly head when you go and plays Donovan Edwards week two versus Michigan I mean Donovan Edwards is a really good running back now I believe this is where we go on no we got a little bit more stats uh yeah I forgot Texas offense is right here here you can see how their defense is uh again like this is last year their defense just wasn't Stellar against anything against the pass against the Run they have some all right players right but as a whole product it just wasn't put together the way that a you would expect for a power five team to and this is I mean for a team like colro State this isn't great right but as long as they keep progressing and get a little bit better than this I mean this is something that'll win them to uh Mountain West like their goal first now needs to be win the Mountain West and then we can like people also need to remember a school like Colorado State simply making the play off that might as well be a national championship hang the banner call themselves they'll call themselves national champions look at how uh UCF did in 2019 I believe was it 2019 somebody comment down below if it wasn't 2019 uh let me know if I'm wrong but here we go Tory Horton I didn't I I wanted this graphic to be first but we'll go back to that one Tory Horton he's going to be in his fifth year as you can see two backtack years of 1,131 and 1,136 yards receiving eight touchdowns in both years uh this dude is an absolute stud and to be quite honest if he were on the Texas Longhorns roster I would be more than happy if he were to line up out wide for us but so going onto that page I just showed you and to kind of prove why he is the four four highest returning receiver in all of college football as far as yards per game goes those are a list of wide receivers that either went undrafted or went drafted in the NFL draft and I'm G give you a hint all of them went drafted these dudes are and you look at this okay Marvin Harrison first round draft Brian Thomas Jr first round draft Xavier Legette if he wasn't first round it was like 30 3 uh Troy Franklin that was that was in the hundreds right but just like in the top of the fourth round I'm going to say either top fourth late third uh McMillan he I want to say was in the top three rounds romad dun first round Malik Malik neighbors first round Malik Washington not a not a not a damn clue not a clue where that one went but the point goes is this is a wide receiver that when he I mean first off he could have gone the NFL draft if he wanted to but him coming back I mean this is a guy that should hear his name called next year it'll go down a little bit I don't want to get too deep into the Weeds on uh NFL draft and the age and all that stuff but I just want to goe go ahead and say this is a very talented wide receiver and it will be a great test for uh Manny Muhammad or Malik muhamd his nickname's Mandy or Jade Baron uh really or any of the defensive backs task with covering him this will be a huge test with the Texas longcor defense now there we go moving on Jack how I I mentioned where get to him this dude he's just like the reason why I want to show you these stats these are his tackling stats sure tackler about as sure as a tacklers you're going to find a 10.2 Miss Miss tackle percentage that is that's pretty good and then if you look at it I I'm just going to go off top of my head no I'm not I'm going to actually do the math here 29.7% of his tackles are run stops so this is a guy that's going to factoring more against the Run than he is pass only one interception all year long two pass breakups all year long so he's not a he's not like a safety that's going to dominate in pass coverage or anything like that or be you know a Zone safety he's not a neural Thomas or hopefully look horn little Jonah Williams action right but what you are going to get from him is you're going to get sure tackling damn near every time and you look at it two games over 10 tackles uh one game just below 10 tackles at nine tackles and really I mean this is the other thing onethird of his misses came in one game where he had two tackles five assists four Miss tackles that is easily his worst game that he had he had another bad game as far as tackling goes but man Jack how this is a guy that he's going to test the he's he's really going to try and limit the amount of explosive plays that occur on against this Texas uh against the Colorado State Defense so Jack H he's more of like a uh if you know what this is actually I think this is a really good analogy for he's like a lost theft prevention right like the the theft is already happened it's already happened but we're just going to prevent it just a little bit a little bit right he's like the guy in the Best Buy you know goes okay we're just going to stop you at the door move on right that type thing so uh Jack how a really sure tackler but moving on to the quarterback the guy that will be throwing Tory Horton the ball Braden fower Nicolosi now this dude is how do we say it I don't know man he's he's kind of hard to read because he started off really well last year uh especially like looking at completion percentage wise you got 65 72 69 81 45 59 65 62 57 56 50 68 like for The Times They had about a 6 5 or better passing completion percentage it was UNLV and Hawaii in the second half of the year before that he did it three times on three separate occasions uh in the first five games so he's a guy that he started off last year a lot bet you say a lot better right but the one thing that I did want to say is look at this look at the interceptions this dude will throw the ball into problematic areas and into the coverage he is you're going to see it here I'll just go and bring it up he is a straight up liability throwing the ball over the middle he is a 12 to2 touchdown to interception ratio over the middle which is just really it's bad and on the on the right side it's a four to three touchdown interception ratio the left side is his best side by far at six touchdowns to one interception and I I'm going to I haven't done a lot of film on colos say but I'm just going to take a just a wild guess and say that's where the that's where that's where Tory Horton lines up out there just a just a little bit of wild guess and then also you look at Tory Horton tell me just just look at this graph right here where where does Tory Horton get most of his yardage it's it's pretty simple it should be right in front of you it's the it's between the numbers under 10 yards Slants Slants Slants it's you know it's like that uh it's like that song shot shot you know but it's like slant slant slance everybody slant yeah so that's what Tory Horton's going to be running a lot of a lot of drag routes they're just going to try and get involv but I I'm I'm dubious of how much Colorado state is going to be able to do against Texas yeah and so here we get into the final predict we'll get into the predictions and I meant to say this earlier but uh whoops well well there's the predictions I'm look I'm Rusty okay I'm I'm getting back in the swing of things all right so here you got the uh weather you know start off partly cloudy it's it it we had it it was it was getting close to being a rain game but just look out for there's there's just the chance of the occasional shower that it happens during the uh during the tailgating I almost said Spring train during tailgating but shouldn't happen you should be hot you should be you know feeling nice and dry uh but the wind should be nice and calm for it should be it should be a good G good game good day for weather good day for football uh bernt Auburn will be happy his kicks won't be getting pushed around a lot hopefully we don't see a lot of bird Auburn outside of you know the point eff attempts but yeah that should be fun uh watching Bert I I he's he's he's a guy that the fans really come around on all right and then now time for the predictions now if you paused it if you cheated you already saw it but here we are I'm gonna give it to you Quinn 's offensive MVP defensive MVP I think going to be Trey Moore I think Trey Moore this is going to be you know kind of a burst onto the scene game they they really like to pass the ball and I think Trey Moore is I think he's going to get a sack or two and uh I think that this is going to be a good game for him to kind of like you know a little bit of a coming out party at Texas uh Quin year stats I got him going I'm going to what I did for this really wasn't much of a prediction it was more of a hey let me take my season long prediction and let me kind of just go on the averages of that and we'll go we'll use our predictions in the future based off this but uh or you know like hopefully this is like the midline and after this we can either go up or down and we can adjust our predictions in the future but I got him 26 of 32 uh that's 82% 375 yards passing 11.7 yards per attempt three passing touchdowns one rushing touchdown the leading rusher I have Jaden blue 155 yards two touchdowns I think he's going to I think he's going to break loose on a couple uh leading receiver I got Isaiah Bond 140 yards I think I just I have a hard time seeing Colorado keeping up with our speed uh one touchdown when does arch enter the game second quarter baby and then the final score I got Texas one 48-6 so hopefully an absolutely great day looking back on this tomorrow uh you know watching Oklahoma right now they just kicked a field goal to go up 17 to nothing on Temple rooting for you stand righton I don't think it's going to go come through though but everybody hope you all have a
