has nothing on the NFL right now in the continued Saga with the receivers namely Jamar Chase in the Bengals he arrived late to practice today in street clothes you're looking at it it's coming a day after Chase practiced with the team and head coach Zach Taylor said he expects Chase to be at practice the rest of the way and to be ready for week one Taylor today asked about his comments yesterday I said that yesterday I think every day is a new day we'll keep working through it not going to make predictions on what tomorrow brings um at the end of the day jamar's a great dude that means a lot to this team and we'll just continue to take it when does this become a distraction it's not I mean it's just it's a it's a one-off situation that you got to deal with and um again we'll just continue take a b do you still expect me to plan over this is all part of that plan that we've talked about you know this is just the later stages of that plan um but I I think it's wise for me just to say yesterday he said he expected him to play week one yeah and I don't think that that played well with Jamar Chase and his Representatives now Jamar Chase has been very quiet during this time so we don't know exactly what Jamar Chase feels but his actions spoke volumes today by the fact that he didn't participate in practice one day after Zack Taylor said he would be practicing but he wasn't my understanding is that these contract talks have been moving in slow motion that there has not been a lot of progress and that's reflected in the fact that Jamar Chase was not out there and that tells you that there is an issue here and so Zack Taylor doesn't want to make any more predictions about what he thinks he doesn't want to speak for the wide receiver CU he knows the sensitivities involved when there's a negotiation like this when both sides still are hoping to see if there's a way to get a deal done yeah when you joined us on Monday I thought man he hedged a little bit right and showed his cards a little bit by coming back to practice certainly we'll see the Bengals open up the season at home against the Patriots September 8th there's a couple of other big players too that are also waiting on new contracts I'm talking about 49ers receiver Brandon iuk and their tackle Trent Williams GM John Lynch speaking today just moments ago in fact about those negotiations sit no there's no updates there I mean there's good communication we're constantly working throwing out ideas to try to have a breakthrough and it just hasn't happened yet is there good communication between you and Brandon yeah there's communication and uh it's a it's it's uh it's been ongoing you know with with Brandon with uh with his representative and uh you know on that one as as well we just haven't been able to break through I love how corrected the good communication with just communication let's go there let's make it all receiver what are you hearing about Brandon iuk well they said the 49ers did that they expect Brandon iuk to practice today he has not practiced all summer he's been a Holden and someone said well what if he doesn't practice and John Lyn said at that point in time then will deal with it those were his words but I think they are at a point here where it's a critical juncture the Monday night regular season opener on Monday night football against the Jets is now 12 days away Brandon auk hasm practice yet they're expecting him to practice today so this is going to be interesting to monitor for later cuz if he doesn't practice that tells you that he is obviously standing up he's calling their Bluff and we'll see where this situation goes I don't know that there's been a situation like this that we've ever seen in the NFL that is dragged on where there have been so many points where it seemed like a resolution was near either him being traded to Cleveland him being traded to New England him being traded to Pittsburgh him residing in San Francisco him almost being traded him most resoning in San Francisco and still this situation being stuck in neutral without a solution in sight at this moment him holding in him holding out we'll see uh as you mentioned the ners open up the season at home against the Jets September 9th certainly would love to see both teams at their full compliment Adam schfer with the latest around the NFL Kevo oh we're following a developing story in college football in NCAA overs coach gerod Mayo saying a decision on starting quarterback has been made but he wants to speak with veteran jacobe brassette and rookie Drake May before publicly announcing it foret started all three preseason games while OC Alex Van Pelt said May has been impressive Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said today he expects contract discussions with quarterback Dak Prescott to remain like it's been Jones professed his support of Prescott a mid talks we will hear from Jerry a little bit later it's official Russell Wilson the Steelers week one starter is official usest of today head coach Mike Tomlin previously said that Wilson entered the preseason with po position for the starting job and Wilson's maintained that role over Justin feels despite missing much of camp with a TA injury Tomlin and Wilson speaking a little earlier today I think we all just try to be our best every day you I think every day I step in the building just try to um you know um bring bring my energy bring uh the focus the detail the experience of it all too um and then when you step in between the white lines you know do everything you can to to be your best version of you Russ's resume is a unique one in terms of length and success and you know that tends to play a fact in the decision making but not from a decision making perspective it's just you know fruit of his labor um you know he's seen a lot and done a lot and I think it was reflected in the way he he played and conducted himself two-time Super Bowl champ Booger McFarland is with us now what do you think did Mike tomman make the right decision yes I think they made the right decision based on what Mike tommen had been telling us all off season that Russell Wilson was in the pole position and I get it there is a level of athleticism that Justin Fields brings to the table but you have to just just oppose that to the experience and the ability to take care of the ball that Russell Wilson is going to give you I think that's what Mike Tomlin and and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith did they said you know what who gives us the best chance to play complimentary football with our defense that should be really really good and can take care of the football and not turn it over I think they chose Russell Wilson and that was with that Dynamic athleticism that Justin Fields have there will still be a package or two to get Justin on the field but I think Russell Wilson gives this team the best chance to play complimentary football therefore the best chance for Pittsburgh Steelers to win uh in the more immediate concern uh Russell starting guard Isaac somalo left practice Monday with a peck injury his status is in doubt for week one certainly he would like to see him on the field let's go to the developing story in Dallas Dak Prescott entering the final season of his contract earlier this week his top receiver cidi lamb got paid and both sides say that they've had talks during the summer with Prescott saying that they were going in the right direction here is Cowboys owner NG GM Jerry Jones where they are right now when you look at a situation you've also got to weigh okay what are the consequences of the other side of the Coen and so uh Dax situation uh right now from me from my mirror has more to do with our situation than it does with the merits of Dak Prescott being quarterback back of the Dallas Cowboys all right I want you to run this through the word salad translator and tell me what what you make of those comments from Jerry uh honestly I have no idea Jerry Jerry is the epitome of a guy who's worth a gajillion dollars and anytime he speaks people are going to listen but when he gets done talking you really don't know what he says and that's what I take from what he just said now to get to what we already know CD lamb has been signed to a new contract four years 136 million so now the question turns to when are you going to take care of Dak Prescott I understand Dak wants to get a new deal Jerry Jerry wants Dak there and he says he's going to be there from 2025 and Beyond but that means that if he's there he's probably going to be making $60 million a year therefore he's going to have to carry more of the burden of the Dallas Cowboys he may have less Talent around him all those are things that we already know so back to the beginning I don't know what Jerry told us but I just surmise everything that we've already known and that we've known for the last couple of weeks insert Captain obious I think he was hinting at the fact he's also got to pay Michael parsons's and gming is hard we know we get it gotta pay everybody you got to pay everybody that's how it works you're not the first one to face it uh speaking of the Cowboys today they also signed Veteran running back dvin cook to the practice squad sour to sell ESPN the 29-year-old cook spent last season with the Jets and Ravens rushed for 214 yards on only 3.2 yards per carry as a member of the practice squad cook would be eligible to be called up to the game day roster for week one against the Browns if you take a look at the running back room it includes Ezekiel Elliott who like cook posted a career low in rushing yards last season your other two options in the backfield are Rico dle and dece vau who have less than 500 career yards between the two boo let's be real we already know that the Cowboys have huge Super Bowl aspirations because they tell us all the time but when you look at that backfield do you think that's appropriate this is almost like somebody telling me today hey you got tickets to see new edition I'm going to be like okay now if you told me 15 years ago I had tickets to see new edition I am running to the concert so that's what this is like like if you told me my backfield was going to be Ezekiel Elliot and Davin cook seven years ago I'm like man we are going to the Super Bowl right now it's like man I'll catch them on Tiny desk like I really don't need to see them in concert I'll catch him on Tiny desk I'll catch the little 20-minute concert in theory this sounds good but in the end we all know this team is going to go as far as they can go based on Dak Prescott and CD lamb and that explosive offense I guess dvin cook can help at some point but there's a reason he was on the he was on the sideline to this point I guess Ezekiel Elliot has a little bit left but there's a reason this is now his third team two of those being the Cowboys so in the end I like I like New Edition 10
