THIS IS WLWT NEWS FIVE LEADING THE WAY. DAY FIVE OF THE SEARCH FOR A MAN WHO POLICE SAY OPENED FIRE ON CARS AS THEY TRAVELED ON I-75 NEAR LONDON, KENTUCKY. THANKS FOR STAYING WITH US AT 430. I'M ASHLEY KIRKLEN AND GOOD AFTERNOON TO YOU. I'M SHEREE PAOLELLO, TEAMS OF POLICE HAVE BEEN SEARCHING THE DENSE FOREST THERE IN THAT AREA SINCE MOMENTS AFTER THE FIRST SHOTS WERE FIRED. TODAY, THE BRIEFING TO GIVE ANY UPDATES ON THAT INVESTIGATION WAS CANCELED. WLWT NEWS FIVE'S BRIAN HAMRICK IS LIVE FOR US IN LONDON, KENTUCKY TONIGHT WITH THE STORY AND BRIAN. ANY IDEA WHY THAT BRIEFING WAS CANCELED? WELL, AT FIRST PEOPLE WERE HOPING THAT IT MIGHT MEAN THAT THERE WAS SOME SORT OF BREAKTHROUGH, SOME SORT OF DEVELOPMENT IN THIS CASE. BUT AS THE DAY LINGERED ON, IT APPEARS THAT IS NOT THE CASE. IN FACT, JUST THE OPPOSITE. IT LOOKS LIKE THERE IS NO MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH IN THE CASE AT THIS POINT. ALTHOUGH WE ARE LEARNING MORE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED IN THE SECONDS AFTER THAT SHOOTING, THE 911 TAPES, AT LEAST SOME OF THEM WERE RELEASED TODAY. SHE'S GUSHING BLOOD BAD, OKAY. AND IS SHE ON THE INTERSTATE WITH YOU? YEAH. 49 OKAY, WELL, THE 49 WAS ON THE NORTHBOUND SIDE HERE. SHE'S GUSHING BLOOD. I'M GONNA TRY SOMETHING. STOP IS BLEEDING. YEAH. MEANWHILE, THE SEARCH CONTINUES FOR JOSEPH COUCH. HE'S STILL ON THE LOOSE. INVESTSTIGATORS BELIEVE HE'S IN THE THICK WOODED AREA. THE VAST DANIEL BOONE FOREST SOMEWHERE. WE WENT TO THE LAST ADDRESS THAT JOSEPH COUTS LISTED. IT'S OUTSIDE OF WOODBINE, ABOUT A HALF AN HOUR SOUTH OF LONDON. NEIGHBORS THERE TELL US HE HAD LIVED THERE RECENTLY, AND INVESTIGATORS SAY THEY SEARCHED HIS HOME. THEY DID NOT SAY WHAT THEY FOUND. AND WHILE COUCH REMAINS ON THE RUN, HIS NEIGHBORS REMAIN ON EDGE. IT KIND OF DOES MAKE YOU PARANOID. I MEAN, HE'S SUPPOSEDLY MADE THE THREAT HE WAS GOING TO KILL A LOT OF PEOPLE AND EVERYTHING LIKE THAT. AND OF COURSE THEY'RE CANCELING SCHOOLS AND D STUFF, WHICH IS A GOOD THING. BUT LIKE I SAID, I LIVE IN A WOODED AREA AND EVERYTHING LIKE THAT. IT DOES KIND OF MAKE YOU PARANOID WHEN YOUR DOGS START BARKING AND EVERYTHING LIKE THAT. YOU NEVER REALLY KNOW. YEAH. AND A LOT OF THOSE SCHOOLS REMAIN CANCELED TODAY. MEANWHILE, THE REWARD HAS BEEN INCREASED UP TO $35,000 FOR INFORMATION ABOUT JOSEPH COUCH REPORTING LIVE, BRIAN HAMRICK WLWT NEWS FIVE.
