The Chargers Biggest Problem Right Now!

Chargers Training Camp News and Highlights the Chargers are having their final practice today before playing their first preseason game this Saturday I don't know can you guys freaking believe it we made it we are finally back to actual football being played but there's a lot that I want to go over today lots of people are upset because of all of the injuries that seem to be piling up so far special teams it's looking pretty good in the kicking and the return game and the first depth chart is out so let's get right into it and I want to first start off with the new player that the Chargers signed LS Perez now Luis Chargers signed Luis Perez Perez was an undrafted free agent for the Rams in 2018 couldn't stick around in the NFL so he went to play for a ton of different leagues he was a part of the aaf on the Birmingham iron then the XFL with the New York Guardians then he went to the usfl with the New Jersey generals and he had some stins and a little bit with the NFL teams like the eagles in 2019 things like that and then finally went to the XFL again but but this time he played for the Arlington Renegades and he won the league title and he also led the XFL in passing yards touchdowns passer rating Inc completions I actually watched this guy in the XFL because you know I wanted to see a football when there was no football being played and I was actually impressed with him as a quarterback and also he is from San Diego he went to OT Ranch High School fun fact about this dude he actually never played varsity football in high school so he has had a very strange path to the Chargers considering that he didn't play varsity football in high school he was a walk-on in college and he played in basically every single Pro Football League that you could imagine outside of like Canadian football and Arena Football too but chargers they were looking at signing two quarterbacks and a wide receiver they brought you know three guys in for a workout just a couple days ago they ended up waving Savon Jackson who was an undrafted free agent defensive lineman in order to make room for Lis perezz the quarterback now it's difficult to say what this move like really means for Justin Herbert and the quarterbacks on the roster right now but let me just throw this out there if Justin Herbert is not starting at quarterback I don't really care who is the starting quarterback for the Chargers out of the quarterbacks that we have right now on this roster because I'm just going to be honest I don't really have confidence in any of them to go out and win a game at least you know obviously not to the level that Justin Why sign another QB? Herbert can but Easton stick you know he has the mobility to his game and he's got that experience under his belt especially from last year he played a lot last year so I'd expect the Chargers to you know have him out there at quarterback because they would think he gives them the best chance at winning but if they're going to go out and sign another quarterback is it because they don't like what they've seen from East stick and the other guys that we have on the roster right now or is it like you know Justin Herbert injury is more serious than it's being led on and they want to have as much competition as possible for whoever is going to be playing quarterback for him when I first heard about Justin Herbert's injury I thought okay you know no big deal because he's going to be back by week one that's what the reports are and it's just going to be a rougher time for him to develop chemistry with the other guys on offense but he's already had a couple weeks of doing that so it's not going to be really bad but now the offense is really struggling in in training camp even to the point where Jim hargh is calling them out in interviews and you know saying that they just simply need to be better and the Chargers signed another quarterback and also the injury that Justin Herbert has is notorious for lingering and being very painful to play through I'm just I don't know I'm starting to think maybe they might be preparing for the possibility that Justin Herbert does Miss some time in the regular season I don't know I I'm just reading the tea leaves right now is it more serious than they're being than they are letting on or is this just a move that they want to make for the backup quarterback spot I don't really know but I'm just trying to think of every possibility and you know what's Justin Herbert injury funny is because I remember a report um a couple weeks ago that the Chargers were wanting to use Justin Herbert's mobility in their offense and then the day that we saw Justin Herbert tuck it and run in practice it was the only time that we ever saw Justin Herbert run this entire OTA training camp period that is the last day that we see him because he gets gets injured I don't know it's just it's tough to tell when he got injured that day and maybe it's a coincidence that you know the day he runs is the day that he gets uh hurt but some people now have been questioning Ben Herbert Ben Herbert and all the injuries because Justin Herbert is hurt and a couple other guys are getting hurt as well the injuries are starting to pile up a little bit lad makoni has not been practicing Joey Bosa Derwin James Trey pipkins Jamar sawer couple other guys have been missing time as well in and out in practice uh due to working through something you know and and I don't think that this has much to do with Ben Herbert I'm going to be honest I understand that some people thought that there would be no injuries at all and Ben Herbert is like a uh a a training a weit room Guru right but that that's just not going to happen like it's impossible to prevent some of these injuries his goal is to make it more difficult for these guys to get injured by building up their strength building up their flexibility without pushing them too far to the point where they're going to break down right so if you look around the NFL there's a ton of guys getting injured right now so just kind by comparison we're in a pretty good spot outside of Justin Herbert being hurt but you know look at the Rams they we got it pretty good injury wise tbh just had their starting quarterback or cornerback Daren Kendrick Torres ACL pukan nakua is injured and he's weak to we Christian mcaffrey is injured DeAndre Hopkins like these are some big names every team is getting injuries right now I mean look at the Chiefs the Chiefs got a couple injuries so I don't think we should be freaking out about the little injuries that we have right now because I I just don't think they're serious I think the only Serious injury that the Chargers have right now is Justin Herbert's injury because that's the only one that is you know going to possibly linger throughout the season and also that is the only injury that they have officially announced what the injury actually is because Jim Harbaugh has been very vague about all of these other injuries so I think the fact that the team had a statement that Justin Herbert is injured just kind of shows that that that one injury is a bit above these other guys if Justin Herbert misses any time during the regular season don't put in Luis Perez Don't Put in E stick just throw Jim Harbaugh out there man look at him throwing this ball and we already know he's got a nice pair of cleat so that's going to save Dean Spanos some more money like that that's just a win-win now let's get into the depth Chargers 1st Depth Chart chart because the official depth chart has been released is really not a lot of stock that I would put into this right now but there's some interesting bits uh some things that stuck out to me like Isaiah Spiller is rb3 ahead of Jared Patterson and kamani Vidal uh otita abonia he's actually listed as one of the three starting defensive linemen ahead of Scott Matlock even though it kind of feels like Scott madlock has been getting more first team time and then this is the craziest one but Junior Coulson is behind Troy Dy and Nick Neeman at linebacker but he hasn't been practicing so I'm I mean you can't really blame him for that one this depth chart is bound to change by the time the regular season starts and the only reason I think that they let out a depth chart at all is because I'm pretty sure the NFL requires them to do so now Special Teams is looking ELITE lastly I want to talk about the Special Teams because Darius Davis is going to be our main Return Man and he was the best punt returner in the NFL last year but we got to see some action of him returning kickoffs versus the Rams in the NFL's new kickoff rules and he was making moves back there had some good returns against them and I I also remember he had a really good return against them in the preseason last year so little bit of deja vu right there but the kicking game still looking great Cameron Dicker he is 41 of 44 on all of his KS kicks throughout training camp so far and he made all of his kicks yesterday every single one of those kicks was from at least 41 yards out so long distance kicking is looking pretty good JK Scott booming punts as well hangtime on his punts are apparently about 6 seconds that's very good that's enough time to get that special team's kicking unit down there every single aspect of this special teams is looking to be very good right now and I honestly would expect them to be probably one of the best units in the NFL uh you know I think they could probably win one or two extra games just because of how good the Special Teams is like you know a one play can change a game a big return a turnover force or like just winning the field position battle so just about everything is looking good and if Justin Herbert wasn't hurt everything would be looking good right now but once Justin comes back you know things are going to be perfect hopefully but if you did not see my video yesterday there's some Chargers vs Rams highlights highlights right here the Chargers they just dominated the Rams I'm GNA be honest
