[Music] Oklahoma State adds QR codes to helmets to promote nil fund for students Oklahoma state has unveiled its new effort to help a nonprofit organization raise funds to help pair Charities with student athletes by adding a QR code to a player helmets and uniforms to give TV viewers a chance to donate to the nil cause according to bleach report the code patches will link viewers who use them to an organization called pokes with a purpose which raises money to support Oklahoma State student athletes they posted a on X this from the OSU Cowboy football team the future is here scan QR codes stadium and even on the team's equipment trucks the university also says that the codes will be scannable from TV broadcasts of close-ups of the players so that fans at home can contribute they go on to say message from the the college our purpose is to do nil the right way we strictly adhere to interim nil policy provisions of the NCAA as well as as work very closely with OSU Administration OSU athletic department of compliance the organization says on its website that's actually from the pokes organization my apologies whenever possible we pair student athletes with local charities and other nonprofits that enable student athletes to use their name image and likeliness to raise awareness and funds for those charitable causes the group explains through these charitable Partnerships Oklahoma State student athletes have the opportunity to showcase their community service efforts for future employers as well as pwa app provides other avenues for that must be the acronym for the che the organization other avenues for athletes to leverage nil opportunities to promote their personal growth enhance their opportunities and build Financial benefits and stability the organization will directly fund student athletes in accordance with the NCAA rules still it appears that the head coach Mike Gundy is over all this talk of nil negotiations he says he is happy that the whole discussion has come to a close for the season and that he can get back on focusing on football the good news is the next 5 months we can just play football Gundy said there's no negotiating now the portal is over all the negotiations history now we're playing football I think this is a great thing for the athletes I for one was completely against it in the beginning because um you know didn't really put much thought into it and uh you know what I felt that after actually thinking about the name image and likeness uh that has become a thing now cuz if anybody played NCAA football that's one of the reasons why EA Sports didn't make another one because they got sued and everything and it was a whole big to-do and you know I was a little I was probably more pissed off at that that I didn't have an NCAA 2015 at the time so but the reality is these kids put themselves through tremendous stress their bodies physically um you know they bust their asses on the field a lot of them are trying to make it into the pros most of them won't it's only a really small percentage of college athletes that make it into the pros for any sport so you know if they can make some money you know while they're grinding in college I say you know what go for it uh there's no reason why they shouldn't be able to make a little dough um hopefully I don't know how these things are set up hopefully they help a lot of these students with Investments and whatnot I don't know I would have to look deeper into it um into these organizations but this is a good thing for Oklahoma State I think they're doing a great Justice for the for the student athletes hopefully it doesn't just stay with with football and hopefully it moves on to some of their other athletes uh they have a pretty big baseball team you know um OB obviously some of the women's sports and whatnot so I hope it just kind of carries over and this whole thing just helps them all make it because you know they have outstanding athletes in probably just about every sport that they have right track and field and whatnot so good thing uh good measure by Oklahoma State to to take and to help their students out and you know they don't have to worry about it now so you know hopefully like I said the organization is doing stuff with helping these students with with you know finances as well and not just giving them a bunch of money for them to blow but of course you know it is their money they're going to earn it so they can do whatever the hell they want with it so what the hell am I who the hell am I to tell them what to do with their money right I'm just glad that they get a chance to earn a little something while they're grinding in college and hopefully like I said this extends on to some of the other athletes and some of the
