MAJOR Vikings Injury News + INSIDE LOOK At Raiders vs. Vikings Preseason Week 1

couple key players on the Minnesota Vikings and then with pre-season getting underway this Saturday I couldn't be more excited so I'm going to give you guys an inside look at what we're going to be looking at as Vikings fans and then also looking at the Las Vegas Raiders what are they going to be looking at uh Saturday during the first preseason game but speak about a Raiders channel here we're actually in a like battle with our Raiders Channel and during their preview they put out they reached 523 likes they have over 150,000 subscribers on YouTube we only have 26,000 I know it's a long first so Andrew van gko free agent edition of the Minnesota Vikings we know what he's about super versatile player you know jack of all trades and a perfect fit with Brian Flores and he's been a full participant at training camp this week he actually had a sweet pass breakup on uh I think it was um Robert tunan when he was running a Crossing route darnold was trying to find him and Van GLE stayed with him step for step but I'm super excited to watch him play he's a perfect SK uh scheme fit with what Flores likes to do and I think he's really going to thrive this year coming off a great year he had with the Miami Dolphins this past season but also more positive news Jerry till avoided a massive injury at practice he got cleated the other day and a lot of Vikings media members were freaking out that this could be a potential season ending injury well we got some positive injury news coming in from Kevin oconnell actually as he said he did get a pretty significant laceration kind of on the back of his leg there lower calf area that although very concerning he's going to be fully recovered he did not have have to get a couple of stitches as far as the major injuries that maybe our fans or you folks might have been worried about that is not the case he will be back just got to let those stitches heal and he'll be ready to go so Kevin okell's Pretty much telling all of us and telling me the you know pump the braks on this Jerry tiller injury he's going to be good to go and that's huge for the Vikings interior defensive line as besides Harrison Phillips you don't really have a guy you love uh in that unit so hopefully the former first round pick could get it going the season with flow over there on defense but also former first round pick LS seen was back at practice he was still recovering from his injury from this past season but yesterday was actually his first time um at practice so you know good there for louen and I'll say this about the preseason coming up for scene this is do or die you know I already think he is a long shot to make the 53 man roster and with how loaded this Vikings safety room is I just don't even see a you know an Avenue where he can make the team even if the Vikings keep five safeties like they're going to go like a guy like Jay Ward Dio Jackson even Naji Thompson over him and you already know the three-headed monster of matelis bam and Smith they're all going to make the team so unless louen absolutely balls out in preseason I'll see him getting cut and speaking about Booth as well they were both getting third string reps yesterday these are two players who were taking the first and second round of the 2020 NFL draft and they're both getting third string reps so a little disappointing in that draft class but again a preseason could absolutely change us for our Minnesota Vikings and those two players uh specifically as you know this team has some needs in the secondar hopefully they you know end up alling out in the preseason but coming up next year I am going to be giving you guys an inside look on this Vikings Raiders preseason game the five story lines I am looking for uh for our Vikings specifically and then also what Raiders fans are going to be looking at Saturday during the game but speaking about the game we're actually going to be going live for the game this Saturday our watch parties are back chalk answer this is the obvious one but the quarterback battle like who's going to get the first team reps who's going to get majority of the snaps between JJ McCarthy and Sam darnold and if you would have asked me this I would probably say a month ago on who I think's going to start week one versus the Giants I would have probably said 99.999% Sam Donald but after what JJ's been doing at training camp and darnold having a couple of down practices I think this battle is heated up so specifically for JJ if he can go out there prove he can be a day one starter and be the best quarterback on this roster I think we'll end up getting the nod versus the Giants but also a big preseason for Sam darnold just to prove to you know the Vikings coaching staff that he is ready to go and take the Reigns of this offense but also another battle I'm watching for is the wide receiver three battle now Jaylen Naylor has emerged as the heavy favorite as he is yet again had an awesome training camp for the Minnesota Vikings but it's going to come down to guys like Brandon pow Trent sherfield will they be able to you know prove themselves this preseason I don't expect to see any Justin Jefferson or any Jordan Addison as that's been Kevin MO is just you know resting the players resting the guys you already know what you're going to get out of them during the preseason so I think it's going to be a three-headed race between Naylor pal and sherfield but if I had to put my money on a guy winning it you guys know I'm a big nailer guy so I'm going to put my money for or on him to win the wide receiver three uh battle but also a quarterback stepping up this is going to be key and you know I had a longtime viewer of the channel Landon turck he reached out to me on Twitter today and he said any news on the Vikings bringing a big- Time corner like xaven Howard Stefan Gilmore and I haven't really heard anything and I think the Vikings going to be looking at this preseason as a chance for these guys to step up and almost give them a reason to not bring in a veteran corner like those two so I'm looking at guys like a bevans Fabian Morrow who we just bought in or Andrew Booth Jr we'll get to him more in a second but watch out for AJ Green uh he had a viral clip um at training camp yesterday where he manned up Tristan Jackson then he was running with him on a streak uh streak route and he had an unreal one-handed interception so keep your eyes out on him potentially you know cracking this 53 man rotation but somebody's got to step up besides Byron Murphy and I'm looking at a Caleb Evans as that guy now also lisis Cen and Andrew Booth I'm be looking at those two as you know like I just mentioned they were getting 13 uh 13 reps this past uh practice session and you know they're playing for their lives right now like there's no doubt about it like they will both be cut from this team if they have a poor preseason performance I think it's almost more likely Booth get cut uh Booth gets cut over louisine just cuz Booth is just kind of had some attitude issues you know wasn't really too happy with him um not getting first or second team string rep so hopefully one of these two steps up as if I had to pick one to step up though it would be booth just with the uncertainty at that quarterback position so maybe he gets it done but these two lot of pressure on him this preseason and the fifth thing I'm watching for is can the Vikings win a preseason game I had to double check myself earlier this morning because I said this on a show yesterday that the Vikings had haven't won a preseason game since 2019 and it's true under Kevin okano they are winless in the preseason so can we finally get a victory you know obviously preseason for me is more about you know Player Development watching what those guys are going to do but you know I would just like to get a win against the Las Vegas Raiders and specifically for this um our Raiders channel here at chat preseason game and he says Luke get's offense and the use of 12 Personnel they drafted Brock Bowers this past draft they also have Michael Mayer so expect to see a lot of two tight end St uh sets on that front but then also the right tackle job and obviously the Vikings Edge group is I think one of the better ones in the National Football League you know determine on who's going to be playing this preseason but they got to battle at right tackle they also have a battle at the cornerback three position between Bennett Richardson and uh devvon shy so you know with obviously the Vikings not playing Jefferson and ason they're going to be going up against their quarterbacks specifically um their third string quarterback uh cornerback and so hopefully Jaylen Naylor can get the best of them but also wide receiver uh dep so honestly pretty similar storylines to the Vikings here but after Devonte and chobe Meyers every other wide receiver needs to prove themsel so they're looking at that as well but then they also have a quarterback battle um going on Las Vegas Gardner menu Aiden okono it's neck and neck you know some some days menu shine some days Aiden okano shines so they're definitely going to be looking at that there but I also asked Mitch what are the strengths on off offense and no doubt they're tight end room and I fully agree with Mitch on this one I thought the draft pick of Brock Bowers actually fantastic they're going to be a very physical football team I think it fits the culture of what Antonio Pierce is trying to get done over there so hey their tight ends they're going to be ready to go but also they got some great top wide receivers I mean us Vikings fans know Devonte Adams as he has been absolutely killing this football team since he got into the league obviously more specifically with the Green Bay Packers but the depth behind that is kind of me so assuming you're not going to get you know Devonte Adams in the preseason we'll see if any other the receivers for Las Vegas will step up and there's this unknown around the Raiders offense you know it's the first year with luk getsy uh he's calling plays for the Bears this past season so you know I'm excited just to watch your team again a physical football team they're going to want to get downhill use those two tight ends a lot of play action is what I'm anticipating but overall I'm just excited to watch another football team get out there this Saturday now talking about strengths on defense here their D line is stacked you know they got Max car Christian Wilkins I don't know if they are going to play but if they do it would be a great test for the the Vikings interior offensive line as obviously you're hoping a guy like Edie Ingram or Blake brandell or Dalton ryer will step up there but they also have great safety depth you know the Raiders defense is honestly extremely underrated in the NFL I think if they got great quarterback play this season they could be a sneaky wild card team in the AFC but again they got Gardner mcho and Aden oconnell so that's pretty unlikely but also the Raiders they don't allow any touchdowns in the red zone and specifically really in this to the Vikings they were one of the worst go tog go teams this past season in terms of running the football Madison zero touchdowns last year on 700 yards he was just terrible at the goal line so excited to watch Raiders defense it's going to be a great test for this Vikings offense and it's overall I'm just pumped up they have another preseason game uh heading our way uh this Saturday but hey
