the start of the NFL football season I excited to see how that all plays out and what that means for the Cowboys a week to go before the NFL a little bit longer before we get to the start of the regular season for the rest of the NFL including of course the Dallas Cowboys got some cowboys Legend voting to get to here this is for the defensive backs Jeff Heath won the first round of voting in something that wasn't even a real conversation Heath won pretty uh easily on that front WD for Woody danler AB for Allen ball PS for uh phy Starks that's Jordan's uh sparks' dad by the way if you me um because you just have to unplug and plug it back in yes uh that was one at of Clemson I'm like oh he's goingon to be so good like he can do all this different stuff and it didn't quite end up materializing quite that way uh shortterm or long term uh but he's a fun player to have for a little bit 54% Adam Jones I I think Jam shower should win um I might give him an a spot because I have extra ones to play around with anyway I might just do it um but Adam Jones is leading the vote there 54% which I I am surprised by I think there's a lot of good options in the secondary there's another round coming up later here uh for of that for a little bit Adam Jones spent a long time in the NFL relatively speaking but most of it was not with the Cowboys um he spent a little bit of time with Dallas he spent see Adam Jones works for Dallas because he spent one year with the Dallas Cowboys most of his career was in Cincinnati so I and he was fine for the nine games he actually played for Dallas but he was definitely at his best in in cincin I mean that that one all pro year technically for the Bengals so this works like jald McCoy also a really good football player but just not for Dallas so it works he only spent one year that's what makes him a a legend uh from that perspective so 51% Adam Jones 26% Sage Jal showers 9% going for ball or Sparks 15% going for Woody danler score predictions as well I went back and looked I did not get any of the scores right there were a couple I was really close on but none that I got right before the year began which probably makes sense because that actually would be really impressive if it got even one right that's very hard to do uh plus like often games have have weird scores like like 27 24 that's that's a logical score prediction doesn't happen very often though actually all right so Brit the Cowboys record in 2024 I'll give some shout outs here 12 and five again that'd be nice that'd be nice uh 10 and seven 12 and 10 and seven again all all 0 and 17 come on come on 69 and one that is nice and also I hate it I would I would despise that uh 11 and six full bright TV just says more than the Eagles gets it done get those score predictions for me in the or the record predictions I should say in the comments of today's show one that'll be more controversial too Cowboys actually under paying Dak Prescott CU I still have my doubts um because we're doing this whole thing again we've done this several years in the past and if any other team operated this way probably like yeah there's no way they're going to pay him they would have paid him already Dallas did this once before and then did pay him so I think that door is open I'm unconvinced it happens before week one you're getting very tight on time there uh no from Robert yes from no snafus fbite says yes the last minute it's a good question a good I actually don't mind that answer at all for historically that's what they do last minute when is the last minute though to pay that Dak Prescott is it before week one or is it before the start of free agency in March cuz if it's if you're still doing it it's doing it after in March I think just it's just it's bad process it's been a bad process overall but it's just not just not good like Rams is like I think argue this is last minute then he's just you know three months four months away from just playing it out we'll see uh cam say spam and his no Vince says no Tyler says late but yes Joe says yes amarian says drafting milro or shadur but if those guys again this the issue you're run into here those guys are like obvious franchise QBs how are you getting a top five pick to take them you're be picking like 24 again right Frederick says no pton says no uh Daniel says I'll say yes and it'll be done by at least next week maybe week two Wendell says no they test the market will matches off of at least $56 million per year there you go Caesar says Nope marble says please please uh amaran every team does not have a QB right now that's the whole point like you can even if you're taking like the positive long-term outcomes for players like that Kyler Murray plays great Arizona stays there the Falcons are fine right the Ravens are fine the bills are fine the Panthers let's assume they're fine I'm not I'm unconvinced that they actually are the Bears are fine the Bengals are fine the the Browns are fine but then you get into like Denver's probably going to be okay Detroit should be okay Green Bay Houston then he gets like Indie they they they'll be okay right is Tennessee G to be okay the Giants going to be okay I definitely don't think they are I know the Raiders are not going to be okay Patriots and Vikings will ride with their their young guys the Saints are a fun Wild Card option the Jets the Giants are fine for now the Jets they might have a big old quarterback hole next year Pittsburgh is not I think going to be okay long term Seattle might not be there's there's going to be five teams looking for quarterbacks even if the young guys look good they're going have c space too all right so so the Cowboys pay Dak y for yes n for no we'll get so we don't wife these done so I wanted to discuss the Dak Prescott deal here been a lot of conversation on this after the CD lamb extension now we'll get to go in depth on it here the season is almost here and it certainly doesn't seem like the Cowboys are that much closer to getting a deal done with Dak he made the comment today really moments ago as we filming this on on our live show that he thinks it says a lot if the deal is or isn't done and it's about how people feel it's clearly a shot at the Cowboys organization maybe not a shot but negotiating through media because that comment came on the heels of this comment from Jerry Jones I understand our challenge but confident is not a word for me here I feel that I think that we can do it we have not figured it out yet we don't need to get this done before the season we just don't need to get it done before the season because it's in all of our interest St and able to have a great season as a matter of fact it's probably not realistic to think before the season but my thought sitting right here as we have Dak in 2025 all I'm going to say is this it's not done yet yet look this is as clear as it gets with Jerry Jones I think for all the weird word salad stuff he does barring a drastic change they're not going to pay him right now and I don't think that this organization is operating which is consistent with their MO historically speaking they're not operating with urgency the way that they should they seem to think that ah we can just pay him before free agency you know at that point you have no control he can say F you I'm out of here if he wants to that's not to say he wants to do that but he has that power there is unique leverage with Dak Prescott because there is no franchise tag option there is no trade option he's got all the control because they effed around and found out the first time that they had to go through this entire contract thing I've got more thoughts here on Dak but do you think the deal will get done why for yes n for no we're doing the whole conversation all over again will the Cowboys end up paying daak why for yes and for no in the comment the pin comment actually of today's show your opinion both what you think will happen and what you want to happen it's totally valid I I get I get the pros and cons on both sides totally understand it however you want to value your value system I get it my biggest issue is the process and I think every single person watching this show should hate the way the Cowboys have handled this contract if the plan is to pay him whether it is now or next off season you've made a mistake because you have hurt your team in terms of the ability to balance your checkbook and be aggressive with your spending right now if that is your quarterback you should not be wasting a year of well we're going to try to make him winless that's that's not how any other team operates that's not what they do it is a bad process and if you wait till next off season you're paying a premium significantly if your plan is not to pay him all you've done is delayed your rebuild so what what like the downside the concern I have here is what happens if you don't pay Dak and you do the exact same year that most of us think 10 11 12 wins whatever maybe win one playoff game cool you're drafting 24th 26th 27th whatever you're not an NFC Championship game team CU your roster frankly isn't a top to two NFC team top to bottom coaching staff included just not quite good enough well now you're picking late 20s you have no quarterbacks under contract and no idea how you're going to find somebody because top 10 quarterbacks do not grow on trees and that is a factor by the way in how the rest of the league feels about him there will be a ton of Interest the Giants the Raiders I think the Steelers even are all like God please let Dak get free agency because those guys are like let's just pay him whatever he wants and they're saving their jobs now the Cowboys if you want to go with the don't pay a quarterback mindset okay they don't have any job security to be worried about got to commit to it they don't commit to things your other teammates by the way love him as well other players love him as well here's what CD lamb said on Dak Prescott go look at our numbers together they are at the top of the charts I have no doubt they're going to get a deal done we all know that I want him here Jerry wants Dak here too let's get this under control and kill the speculation teammates won him see if that actually happens or not now you can get the Cowboys turnover section and the description of today's show couple practice squad updates here Amman uar has signed that is the former Penn State Corner uh May pry is biggest impact in the NFL with the Detroit Lions played for the Giants and Jags his career stats about 30 something starts over the course of his NFL career uh nine yards per Target it's a flat rate by the way 12 touchdowns nine interceptions 24 pass breakups adding quarterback depth I don't think or is necessarily A Bad Thing One of the only three I guess if we include dvin cook uh outside players that organization players the Cowboys went out and add it the second one obviously dvin cook was the one that broke a couple days ago or I guess that was yesterday wasn't it time moves fast uh Phil Hoskins as the Cowboys at another interior defensive lineman can't say I'm too shocked here because they didn't were unable to retain Justin Rogers 65 315 pretty big boy on the interior to add some extra size and depth they needed to add another defensive lineman can't say I'm too surprised that they chose to go down that path they were they were in need of the help and they have managed to find said help to flush out that remainder of the roster so nothing overly shocking on that front for Phil Hoskins let's break down then the entire Cowboys practice squad we mentioned most of these names previously so we'll go quick uh Josh ball Dakota Shepley Denzel daxon uh Phil Hoskins Carl Lawson there should be be some receiver names I want to get to uh as part of this too or running back names Malik Davis uh is on that list dvin cook is on that list Jaylen Cropper Kelvin Harmon Princeton Fant again we mentioned most of these names uh previously uh other options uh Darius Hall Nick vigil Brock maginon K on Hall Josh Butler Amani uar and ammani Johnson so several of those players on the practice squad for the Cowboys so grade the Cowboys practice squad for me A B C D or F let me know in the comment section of today's show how you feel about that grouping some injury news I want to hit here Brandon Cooks despite Big Mike saying he was not he was going to practice um at uh today's event or practice he wasn't out there I don't really know why maybe we'll get more info later but he was on available I'm not too worried about that front there Zack Martin was back in a limited capacity that might be kind of more of the vet Day stuff they're doing there uh Deone Clark also made his way back over shon's been back so I feel pretty good about your linebacker rooms there uh Wan Thomas was with the rehab group as he works his way back from a groin injury Israel Mamu also with the we with the rehab group not totally sure why uh but those of your players who are unavailable plus I guess chuma DOA who's of course going to miss several weeks and will eventually be placed on IR so what is your concern level right now over the Cowboys Health scale it for me from 1 to 10 in the comment section one the low end 10 high I think it's still on the lower end um but it is something certainly worth monitoring as we get closer and closer to the start of the regular season let's talk CD lamb contract here the contract details for lamb are now out with some I think pretty interesting details that I want to get into to of note and this was not initially reported by proof football talk but Todd Archer had it four void years are part of this contract uh plus a $29 million option bonus in 2028 that kind of make all this look like an eagles contract that's pretty unique uh from that from what the Cowboys have normally done and by the way I treat that as a positive thing so the current CD lamb cap hits are set up like this 35 $8.75 million this year 35.45 next year big jump then it drops actually uh 33.6 in 2026 36.6 in 2027 16.39 in 2028 and void years of 23.2 million in 2029 the plan based on this contract I actually think is pretty darn clear as it relates to CD lamb this contract gets restructured after the 2024 campaign and probably after the 2025 campaign as well they they make those adjustments and and move forward uh with backloading that cam contract and the plan is he gets another extension before that contract ends that's why they've structured it with that option bonus so they can flip that quickly into a signing bonus instead of an option bonus what I want to look at though is the likely cap pits for how this is actually going to play out the restructures versus the tags the re the hit this year is 8.75 assuming you do the standard restructure in 2025 and in 2026 it is 14.91% 7 NE number can be adjusted a little bit up if needed if you don't want to M at the maximum but that's about what you're doing there that is a significant savings over the 17.99 fth year option the 24.7 million tag and the nearly $30 million tag in 20126 that's about $29 million in savings over three years that is a not insignificant amount of money to save that is a lot of money saved and it's why you pay players early instead of waiting to the very last second a $10 Super Chat coming in here from OB poar he says all things considered do you think Dak deserves to be P like a top 10 quarterback be honest QB Market asai just based on performance absolutely he is a top 10 quarterback I I I have have a very tough time arguing that he shouldn't be paid like a top 10 cor because he is one I I I don't really think that's actually all that much Up For Debate like I I think is that caliber of player um I have a very tough time coming up with 10 QBs who are better if we're keeping the same standards people sometimes apply playoff only standards to D and then ignore it for everybody else so um I I think that that's a no a no-brainer for me Tyler Madden I want the Cardinals to tank and draft QB so they can trade us uh Kyler Murray also pay Dak he hasn't declined yet I guess trading for Kyler is an option I would like maybe be concerned if you're trading for a QB whose team has has won like what they won like seven games over over a two-year span I I kind of don't like that idea um or Le least maybe I don't like that is is poor terminology there I would be concerned about that um but of like your semif feasibly available players I I can I can see where you're coming from uh on that front and it's you know it's it's better than Jimmy gapo uh again the bar is low but he is it is better than Jimmy G full bright TV is which I think Jimmy G might be the best available free agent this is coming off season that's just where we're at if that gets paid or if he's not going to resign with you is Kayon carus ready to be quarterback two should we sign or trade for another Corner real test going against Coupe and Jerry Judy week one I I wouldn't I would ideally not play him as quarterback too because that was the whole point of having donon Bland and Diggs um I think that from a timing perspective like what corner you could you can try like you can try to call xaven Howard is he going to be ready to go week one and by the time he is ready how close is the Ron Bland to being back you know if this had been a season ending injury maybe we have a different conversation but since it should only be you know I think four to six games maybe through the buy week seven worst case I think you have a tough time convincing a veteran hey come be a stop Gap come come hang out for a quarter of the season it's not how the those players typically want to operate from Chris B this is a $2 Super Chat I think Dak is leaving if no deal before the season he's got the threat of it it's not good I I I I I think Jerry say there's there's he's not worried about the risk there's risk there is could be a lot worse I remember the the Clint Stoner Chad Hutchinson days that was not fun I I don't want to go down that path that necessarily if I don't have to one more Super Chat then we'll just get into the next portion of today's show object PIR speaking of playoff it feels like in most games Dak shows up but other players don't there have been times he has been done Dirty by the play calling over the course of the all the different playoff games you've had there have been days it's been it's been bad for Dak and days dak's actually played pretty well and it hasn't matter because the defense can't stop a run or they allow a third and 20 or the ground game's a no show or he plays bad against the 49ers again you can frankly put up just like the the numbers of non- ners playoff games vers Niners playoff games actually plays pretty well outside of that now it doesn't excuse us the slow starts we've seen but it's team sport and I think just because it is the Cowboys and the quarterback of the cowboys that sometimes gets lost coming up on today's show we're taking a look at the top free agent options left now this is as of our Thursday afternoon filming on our live show so some of these free agents could end up signing with different teams or to a practice squad I will also include some practice squad options just make note if you want to sign a practice squad player you got to make an active roster spot if you want to sign a practice squad player of the available free agents to your practice squad then you have to make that available practice squad spot so do do keep that in mind and my apologies if something gets changed in the like I don't know 15 hours before this video goes out on demand before we get into it name a free agent who you want to sign any position group let me know in the comments of today's show first up is running back because I think this is the biggest question mark I have on this roster right now the available free agents it's not good it's latavius Murray it's Kareem hunt it's Jerick McKinnon Matt breida real chance those guys are just cooked Niners didn't even retain breida if you're giving a shot I think Kem hunt was even worse than Dalvin cook and Ezekiel Elliott last year he was bad in Cleveland tavius Murray's a power back McKinnon offers some juice but he's getting up there and age and as you age the juice becomes not quite as good all right the practice squad options I am going to put Frank Gore Jr on here because I know how you guys are I do think you run into this is why he I'm just telling you why he went unclaimed he'd be the number three back at best for other teams he was like rb45 in Buffalo after all as great as he was in the preseason the lack of special teams value and the lack of juice doesn't appeal to many teams uh frankly I think the role you would have for Frank good Gore would be semi- similar to that of dvin cook and Ezekiel Elliot and I don't know if the Cowboys want to go down that path so Michael Carter the Cardinals kind of third down scatback I kind of think deon's better um but he is a notable name Isaiah Spiller also a notable name uh because that's a Texas A&M kid he just might not be good um at this point some real red flags there for Spiller Evan Hall had a chance in Indie didn't look the greatest um kind of a weird tested better than he actually is athlete which which does happen Chris Rodriguez if you needed a power Runner I would have interest here this is the this is the Kentucky back who is on the Commander's practice squad right now but again I I I have power backs the the thing I am looking for is I am either finding a clear upgrade over Zeke and Rico d as my early downback or I need to find some athletic juice and turns out the guys with the athletic juice are not available unless you want to try to swing a trade for somebody so do you think the Cowboys need another running back y for yes n for no sound off for me in the P at the pinc excuse me of today's show let's talk some wide receivers I need to mention garas Tony I don't want to go down this path I think that is is you know the BS outweighs the production pretty quickly there but that is a former first round pick with perceived talents I I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze though Michael Thomas I think he he might be done uh to go unsign this entire time and I I would actually argue that if you're an actual number one Diva Tendencies aren't necessarily a bad thing because it just means you're getting the ball and being productive um but when you're like a fourth or fifth receiver the diva Tendencies really go in the wrong direction for you Hunter Renfro I actually am kind of surprised no one picked him up he really fell off the last two years in Las Vegas that good year he had might have just been a mirage two other guys I'll mention Russell Gage benis scronic who is a fun player for the Rams they used him as like a wide receiver fullback was kind of entertaining but I don't know if if Mike McCarthy is the right guy to to maximize him there practice squad I'll make note by the way some of these guys could also make sense in week three if somebody gets hurt like God forbid knock on wood kavante Turpin got hurt I probably call about Jaylen Dart because he could help me out on returns Justin Ross is a big name but I don't know if he's actually that great I think he was a bit overhype by the dynasty fantasy Community uh Eric is ukama dolphins and Dwayne esgd both players I'm semi intrigued by given some of their athletic ability Paris Campbell is a veteran same with Donovan peoples Jones again are these guys better than Jaylen Tolbert I don't think so and at that point probably not all that interested there are plenty of notable corners who are available xaven Howard is unsigned I'm a bit surprised by that one maybe there's some stuff going on behind the scenes with him that teams are turned off by there I think a Dory Jackson could be a really nice quarterback for for somebody maybe it's not even Dallas I am surprised he's unsigned former first round pick I think also could sneakily offer some return value Patrick Peterson has ties to Mike Zimmer brief ties to Mike Zimmer offers you know kind of like older Israel Mamu at this point now again that's Peterson's decline that's why we can put him in the same conversation so not what he was at his absolute best uh Caleb Farley is unsigned got to check the Medicals out there he's been super banged up but former first round pick could be a nice rehab project for you so is CJ Henderson and Henderson you know Caleb Farley might also be in be in this conversation those guys just might be busts for different reasons but in the end they might just not be good enough for the NFL some guys on the practice squad I if the Cowboys needed a safety I wonder if they're going to go after louisine because they loved him coming out of Georgia if we believe their leak draft board he was the one R it ahead of Tyler Smith when they took Tyler Smith by the way he's had a bunch of injuries in Minnesota by the way Nick Needum offers nickel Corner ability uh couple veteran DBS Kaden Sterns now Philadelphia ugad a nickels safety hybrid uh for the saints expected in in week one or John Stevens Jr flashes as a tight end too for you Travis Wellington why not trade for C Herbert well takes to to tango and maybe the Bears didn't want to trade him away have to acknowledge it as a possibility I've got day three picks I can move I can move a fifth or a sixth form him happy to do it cowboys might not feel the same way but like that is worth mentioning there there guy I like guy I like a lot but TBD if both sides want to make that happen so name a player who you still want to add this could be trade could be free agency practice squad whatever name dorrence Armstrong you've lost Sam Williams you've got marshan nean and johy Colston stepping up more don't love that I think you'll see some linebackers be more involved there's going to be more blitzes I think it'll be it'll be a very it'll be a very different Rush under Mike Zimmer than what Dan Quinn was doing you might have fewer Big Splash plays that you both force and that you both allow so we'll have to see how that one plays out um but I'm not as worried about Micah as him about like who's your number three pass rusher I don't is nean ready for that role I'm not so sure you last year by the way which I thought that was kind of funny week 11 Houston Texans Monday Night Football uh I would like to win the state championship and take down Houston coming off a game against the Eagles I just I get a little bit worried about that one um I'm gonna go Houston wins I hate saying that by the way but I think st's going to be in for a really good year I think that team is very well coached under Deo Ryan I I got Houston over Dallas 2820 no Miracle comeback this time for the Cowboys week 12 at the Washington commanders I do not believe in cliff kingsberry I have Dallas is a Sunday Night Football matchup by the way yet another Prime Time game I get an about Tampa I don't know why um but I I don't know if this team is going to close the season the way I want them to Cowboys had not won the division last year I'd have taken beat Philadelphia today but the NFC East is cursed and nobody's ever able to repeat so give me as much as it pains me to do it the Eagles to win 3027 there's some uh referee Shenanigans at the end of the game and we all lose our minds over it and the Eagles take down the Cowboys and I think they win the division it it's a curse it's not fair but it's a curse pick your NFC East winner D for the D Cowboys W for the Washington commanders NY G for the Giants or Phi for the Philadelphia Eagles now Dallas by week 18 may or may not be fighting for a playoff spot I still maintain this is going to be a c a playoff team if they need it they'll win it if they don't need it they'll win it anyway Cowboys over the commanders 27-7 Washington's going to be in full on tank mode by this time because they're not they're not a good I don't think they're a good football team not yet at least I think Dallas wins 10 games I think they make the postseason and I think that they probably win one game at most because that's what this team is Cowboys are a 10- win team that's the roster they've built that's how they're coached that's
